77. The Holy Sword, Fragarach
Hirei limped toward Shark, and I followed behind him.
I gathered all the remaining Aura in my body to the tip of my palm.
Whoooong!
The sword vibrated as if it had found its prey.
‘I have to put it all in at once.’
If I divided it up unnecessarily, I might not even awaken Fragarach [a legendary sword] and only waste my Aura.
“Krrr!”
Despite his entire body burning, he expressed strong hostility towards Shark.
‘Good, just stay distracted a little longer. I’ll slit your throat in one go.’
Hiding my presence as much as possible, I approached him from behind. I was only a couple of steps away.
‘Now!’
I explosively shot out the Aura I had gathered in the forearms of both arms.
Whoooooong!
Fragarach craved Aura like a hungry beast that hadn’t eaten. The Aura from my entire body was sucked in like a tidal wave.
‘Oh! It feels like it’s awakening?’
Unlike before, the entire sword was brightly colored. It began to vibrate even more.
‘This guy is coming out into the world after a thousand years.’
Just as I was about to leap towards Hirei with Fragarach, now glowing brightly.
[Kkiyooooooo!]
A voice that seemed to tear my eardrums rang out.
[How long has it been!]
‘This crazy bastard! Shut up!’
Perhaps it was because I unconsciously put strength into my toes because of the sudden scream.
Damn it.
A small sound echoed from my foot as I stepped forward.
“Krr!”
Hirei reacted to the small sound. He immediately turned around, revealing his large teeth.
‘It’s already too late!’
But my body was already flying with Fragarach. The sword, now filled with bright light, flew towards his open mouth.
Poooook!
Fragarach was stuck right in his mouth.
[Kkiyooooooo!]
He was screaming as if he liked the taste of blood after a thousand years.
‘It’s so noisy.’
I don’t know how such a crazy guy got the nickname of Holy Sword.
‘But his skills are still good.’
Kuaaaaa!
Hirei’s painful voice spread throughout the river. Fragarach was digging deeper with his own will. Eventually, both of Hirei’s knees hit the ground.
It was the futile end of Hirei, who seemed like he would never die.
[Give me more! Aura, and blood!]
However, a new annoying guy had appeared.
‘Okay. Now get lost. I have nothing to give you.’
Fragarach quickly exhausted all of his Aura. There was no need to deal with the noisy guy separately.
Because there wasn’t a single drop of Aura left, he could no longer maintain the summoning state.
[Kkiyooooooo! Nooooo!]
As the light on the sword disappeared, his voice also faded from my mind.

“……But Ian. Did you always know how to use a sword?”
Karis and Shark were quite surprised.
“I just learned it from watching.”
I tried to be humble, but Shark shook his huge head.
“It wasn’t just a little bit. You knocked him down in one blow.”
“I was just lucky enough to stab him in the mouth.”
“It’s not easy to catch that kind of timing. Who are you trying to fool?”
As expected of the number one warrior of the Aquafolk [a race of aquatic humanoids]. You couldn’t fool his eyes when it came to battle.
[Of course. It’s all skill. That electric eel knows something.]
‘Shark is no pushover either.’
[But can’t you just tell them about the Aura?]
‘Yeah. There’s no need to hide it from the guys in the Ego [their group name].’
I couldn’t use the sword and Aura freely in front of humans.
‘But they’ve only been in the Ego. They might not even know that the Aura has disappeared.’
I could freely reveal the sword and Aura to them.
“I’ll tell you later. More than that, you can even use electricity. As expected of the number one warrior of the Aquafolk.”
“Hmm hmm. Our Aquafolk are much stronger than those on land.”
“I almost died, but thanks to you, I lived.”
Shark started wagging his big body at the compliment. He quickly lost interest in me.
“Ah, Karis.”
“Yes, Ian?”
“When you brought Shark, did you see Grantel? How is he?”
The smile on Karis’s face quickly darkened.
“Ah, Grantel……! I was in a hurry to bring Shark, so I couldn’t check behind the waterfall.”
“I have to go right away.”
“……Okay.”
Shark immediately lowered his head.
“Get on.”
I took a seat next to Karis, and he went up the river.
[……He’s probably dead, right?]
‘Most likely. Hirei wouldn’t have left him alone.’
The top of the river. We were able to reach the waterfall quickly. Shark’s huge body didn’t seem to be affected by the currents, and he swam out in an instant.
Chwaaaaa!
So many things had happened here in the past few hours, but the waterfall was still pouring down in the same way.
Only the dug-up piles of dirt and the shattered traces of trees preserved the desperate fight.
“I’m going in.”
Shark’s head broke through the waterfall and reached the other side.
“Grantel!”
I immediately jumped off Shark’s head. Grantel was lying there, breathing heavily. Fortunately, he was still alive.
[I don’t know if I should call this fortunate…….]
However, both of his arms were severed as if they had exploded. Karis couldn’t even speak.
“What happened?”
Grantel barely lifted his eyelids. His aged mouth slowly opened.
“……Why did you come back? Instead of running away from that Hirei.”
“He lost his life at our hands. What happened to you, Grantel?”
“Heh. So that’s what happened……. I’m fine. I’m going back to the soil anyway, right?”
“What are you talking about? Let’s go back and get treatment!”
But Grantel slowly shook his head.
“I don’t have the strength to go back to the forest. I’ll die before I get there. Can you just let this old man rest here for a while? I just want to be comfortable at the end.”
He was right. Not only were his arms blown off, but his whole body was covered in wounds. Hirei had shown no mercy.
‘I shouldn’t have killed him so easily!’
It wasn’t a long relationship, but Grantel had provided our group with tremendous favor. I was disgusted by Hirei.
[……Unfortunately, I think it’s already too late. Unless a professional healer pops up, there doesn’t seem to be any hope. Of course, you know that too.]
I had nothing more to say.
Just because of the emotions that were welling up.
Because of my selfishness that I didn’t want to lose him.
I just wanted to move him and treat him.
“Thank you. I can go in peace knowing that there are people like you.”
“As you said, I will definitely try to get the Ego out into the world.”
“It will be a difficult journey, and I’m sorry I can’t be with you.”
Grantel gave a faint smile. I tried to suppress the rising emotions.
“Um…….”
Someone put their hand on my shoulder.
“Can I take a look?”
It was Karis who came to our side.
“……At what?”
“Grantel. I think I can help.”
She could help in this situation.
[What does she mean?]
It was Shark who answered my question.
“Actually, Karis was born with healing abilities. It’s a very rare ability among the Aquafolk.”
I was stunned.
“Healing abilities?”
“That’s right. Thanks to her, I was able to recover quickly and come help you.”
Karis was answering with a smile.
“Clan Chief Grantel. Excuse me for a moment.”
Karis immediately reached out and touched Grantel’s forehead.
Whoooong!
Then, a blue aura emanated from her small hand. A mysterious aura that seemed to draw you in swept through Grantel’s body.
‘Is this the power to heal?’
[I guess so.]
It was definitely an amazing ability. It was something I was seeing for the first time. All I could do was trust Karis and wait quietly.
“Umm…….”
After a while, Karis’s brow furrowed.
“What’s wrong?”
“Umm. His condition is more serious than I thought.”
“Then there’s nothing you can do?”
“I can give him first aid, but I think we need to go to the village and find another way.”
“So you can buy time?”
“Yes. I’ve stopped it from getting worse right now.”
It was a silver lining. It meant that we didn’t have to lose him without even trying.
“Umm. I feel better than before.”
Grantel’s voice followed. Was it my imagination that he seemed a little more lively?
“That’s a relief, Grantel!”
“Thanks to Karis, I’ve extended my life……. It must be a sign that I still have more to do in the Ego.”
I smiled back at him as he smiled gently.
“There will be medicinal herbs that can help you in our Aquafolk village. Let’s go together.”
Karis reached out to him. Together, they supported Grantel.
“I’ll take you.”
Shark lowered his head. He would be able to transport Grantel safely and quickly.
“Then Karis, Shark. Please take care of Grantel.”
“Huh? Aren’t you going with us?”
“I have to go meet the Fox Clan Chief.”
“Yes?”
“I have to finish this.”
I pointed to the Fox Clan members who were still entangled in Grantel’s tree roots. I had to find the Fox Clan Chief to deal with those who followed Hirei.
However, Karis’s expression became serious at the mention of the Fox Clan Chief.
“If you just go, the Fox Clan Chief won’t believe you. He might see you as a traitor who killed their number one warrior.”
She was right. Moreover, since they hated humans, they wouldn’t welcome me.
Grantel also stepped in to stop me.
“Yes. I’ll go and talk to him myself when my body is healed. Even if you’re right, he might attack you without warning.”
But I knew that much. I knew that the Fox Clan had a fiery temper.
“That’s why……. Could you lend me the Leaf Clan’s crystal ball?”
“A crystal ball……. What are you thinking?”
“Yes. I’m going to openly reveal what Hirei was doing and make it so that the Fox Clan Chief can’t say anything.”
“Hmm.”
“Besides, Clal has already gone to ask the Fox Clan for help. It would be helpful if we testified together.”
Clal had already gone to request support to stop the rampaging Hirei. He would have already told the initial story.
“Hmm. If you have a plan, I understand, but don’t overdo it. The Fox Clan Chief is a very violent man.”
“I understand. Just tell me the way to the Fox Clan village.”
“Wait a moment.”
Then, Grantel spat out a fist-sized crystal ball and a small twig from his chest.
Thud.
Karis handed me the things that had fallen from his body.
“The Fox Clan’s village will be in the direction that the twig is pointing. Please be careful.”
“I understand. Please get well soon, Grantel.”
“Ian! If anything happens, you have to run away!”
“Don’t worry. I can take care of myself.”
The three people left. Shark’s huge body cut through the water in an instant.
‘Then let’s go.’
[The Fox Clan Chief, huh? This will be fun.]
Whoooong!
I also moved my steps in the direction that the twig was pointing.
