Outside the city center, near a small, quiet stream, stood a modern building. It shone brightly against the older, simpler buildings around it. This was KBC’s Ilsan headquarters, a major television station.
Yuria, a citizen of Goyang City, had always disliked that very much.
“Jae-yeop, this isn’t really Ilsan, you know!” Yuria said, a little annoyed. “It’s Deogyang-gu!”
Jae-yeop chuckled. “Does it really matter?”
Yuria sighed. “You always say that! It’s important to us locals!”
Yuria and Yoon Jae-yeop, who met at the KBC headquarters, were on their way to the filming location with the
The distance from the headquarters to the filming location was close enough to reach in 10 minutes on foot.
But since they had to move with the filming equipment, the two were riding in the broadcasting station’s van.
“Ugh, you’re going to be so embarrassing on camera today,” Yuria teased, nudging Jae-yeop. “But at least the filming is nearby. Easy for me!”
Jae-yeop groaned dramatically. “Easy for *you*! I drove for ages from my place.”
“Well, maybe you should move closer to work then,” Yuria laughed. “Or maybe just be less famous and live somewhere normal!”
Jae-yeop and Yuria, who were in the same agency, were personally close.
So, even during that short time moving to the filming location, the two were chatting about trivial things.
Yoon Jae-yeop opened his mouth.
“From today’s filming, that actress Lim Su-ha is joining us, right?”
“That’s right.”
“It’s my first time seeing her, so please lead the conversation well.”
“We saw her at the pre-meeting last time, didn’t we?”
“How many words would we have exchanged then?”
“Okay. Su-ha Unnie has a good personality, so it won’t be too difficult.”
Yuria had recently appeared in the same drama as Lim Su-ha.
So, there was a friendship between them, but not with Yoon Jae-yeop.
Rather, it was Yoon Jae-yeop who had a wide network in the entertainment industry, despite that.
‘Well, since Yuria is there, the filming won’t get too difficult.’
Jae-yeop had carefully considered this show before agreeing. He knew entertainment wasn’t just luck; it was work. His main concern now was Seo Woo-jin, the non-celebrity expert. Would they click? Could he create some fun moments with someone new?
No matter how hard he analyzed the broadcast.
There was no way to know the information about the general public panelists.
The performers in the ‘expert’ position who would lead the program together.
‘The variable is ultimately the person named Seo Woo-jin, who was scouted as an expert….’
Of course, Yoon Jae-yeop was not worried that Woo-jin would not have a sense of entertainment.
In the first place, expecting a sense of entertainment from the general public was too much to ask.
But apart from the sense of entertainment, there is such a thing as synergy between characters.
Even if he was a little shy and stuttered on the broadcast, if the chemistry with the other cast members matched well.
Yoon Jae-yeop was confident that he could capture and draw out enough fun from it.
But if he couldn’t get close to the cast members and ended up playing completely separately, it would be impossible to salvage, no matter how good Yoon Jae-yeop was.
‘He’s young and has a decent appearance, so if there’s some synergy with the female cast members, the picture will turn out okay.’
Unlike Lim Su-ha, Yoon Jae-yeop did not worry about Woo-jin’s ‘expertise’.
He believed that the production team would have verified such parts well.
He thought it was a part that was not very relevant to the fun of entertainment or the success of the program.
After all, people called experts have amazing skills in the eyes of the general public, regardless of how much difference there is in skill level among them.
Even if you only look at cooking competition programs.
The cast’s wit and fun situations were often much closer to the elements of success than the taste of the food shown by the chefs who appeared.
So, even though ‘Kim Ki-sung’, a relatively more famous and experienced expert, was assigned to MC Park Doo-young, who was set as the opposing team, Jae-yeop was rather pleased.
Seo Woo-jin, who had many interesting backstories, was a much better ingredient to cook in terms of entertainment than Kim Ki-sung, who had an obvious expert role.
Of course, the format of
Winning or losing in that competition was not an important part at all in Jae-yeop’s eyes.
If a lot of fun scenes came out, no matter which team won, that was the way to succeed together.
So, even though he had arrived at the filming location.
Jae-yeop got out of the van and moved according to the staff’s guidance, without thinking much about the place.
Jae-yeop wasn’t particularly curious about what the design of the cafe to be used as the filming location was like.
“Okay, we’ve arrived! Start setting up the equipment!”
However, his head was full of thoughts on how to unravel the broadcast.
‘The key is that the part where I meet the new cast members has to be as natural and fun as possible….’
Yuria chattered next to him as if muttering…….
“This is really close to KBC. If the coffee tastes good, I should come and drink it often.”
Jae-yeop was only worried about the progress and the amount of content.
‘Should I show an appropriate reaction and praise the cafe’s interior… or should I secure content by doing a comic dialogue with Yuria?’
As the plan was roughly established, Jae-yeop nodded.
After all, he heard that the filming at this cafe would not be broadcast for that long.
It was only a short scene to show the expertise of Seo Woo-jin, a general public performer who would be joining.
As they arrived, the cafe building was mostly hidden in the shadows of the evening. It was a low, wide shape, built from dark bricks that seemed to absorb the dim light. But in the center, a huge window glowed brightly, like a warm invitation in the darkness.
So, people who arrived here naturally walked towards the lobby.
Following the guidance of the bright lights pouring out of the building.
‘That side must be the entrance.’
‘Oh, the entrance is cool? Shall we go in?’
Stepping inside was like entering a different world. Suddenly, they were surrounded by gleaming metal machines, rows of colorful coffee beans in glass jars, and the rich, warm smell of roasting coffee filled the air. “Wow,” Yuria breathed, “it’s like a coffee museum!” Jae-yeop stared, impressed. “More like a coffee factory… but a really stylish one.”
This space seemed to be saying to the customer.
‘The coffee you drink here will be delicious.’
“PD-nim. Is this really designed by our guest, CEO Seo Woo-jin?”
Gong Jin-young PD answered with a smile to Jae-yeop’s question.
“That’s what they say.”
“This is it! This is my new favorite place!” Yuria declared, spinning around and taking in the cafe. “I’m never going anywhere else for coffee!”
Jae-yeop raised an eyebrow. “You haven’t even tasted it yet. Don’t get ahead of yourself.”
“I can just *tell* it’s going to be amazing!” Yuria insisted, pointing at the impressive coffee machines. “Look at this place! If the coffee is bad after all this effort, it’s practically a crime!”
Jae-yeop shook his head at Yuria’s excited expression and voice, which looked sincere, and asked Gong PD for mediation.
“PD-nim, I think she’s too excited?”
Gong PD just smiled, a knowing glint in his eyes. “Actually,” he said casually, “we’ve been filming this whole time.”
Jae-yeop froze, his mouth slightly open. Yuria stopped mid-sentence, her eyes wide. They had been so caught up in the cafe, they hadn’t noticed the cameras.
Just then, a cheerful voice called out, “Hello! Am I late?” Standing in the entrance, smiling brightly, was Lim Su-ha.
