My First Active Skill 1
Bidet was dumbfounded.
What’s with this guy?
I was just trying to offer some advice, and he flips me off. It feels like I tried to save a drowning man and got slapped in the face.
“You idiot! That staff is my last hope! Unleash its power now!”
Legion was genuinely flabbergasted.
This little punk keeps talking down to me.
“Passion and romance fleeting like the wind, I still have a rough dream left in this world.”
Now he’s suddenly singing. I’m busy as hell, and he’s being so distracting.
Legion waved his hand dismissively.
Get lost, I’m in a hurry, don’t bother me.
Zzzing! Zzzzzing! Zzzzzzzing!
Another Hell Laser came flying.
“Is that the only skill that bastard has! Why does he keep using just that?”
-Isn’t he using that skill because it’s the most effective?
Who doesn’t know that?
-But don’t let your guard down. It’s like a jab in boxing.
What’s boxing? Oh, that future martial art you mentioned, the one with fists?
-That’s right. You never know when a straight or a hook will come. If you’re focused on the jab and get hit with a big one, you’re done for.
I know, I know.
The problem is-
Crackle.
The staff I conjured won’t last much longer. Its structure is weak.
“Hey, you idiot! Please, listen to me. I’ll die if that breaks! Do you think that Three-Headed Medusa will spare me? So please, listen to me!”
Bidet shouted intensely.
“Who are you?”
Legion asked, looking at him.
“Bidet.”
“Bidet?”
“Yeah, Bidet. You’ve heard of me, right? The master toilet craftsman. Bidet.”
Wow, so confident. Disgustingly annoying.
“Don’t lie! I heard Bidet is over 150 years old. You look like you’re only about twenty!”
“I’m just young-looking!”
“Don’t talk nonsense! Who looks 130 years younger than they are!”
“Elves are the same. That one!”
Bidet pointed at Natalie, who was trembling with her head down.
“She looks young, but she’s probably over sixty!”
“Ah, right. That’s true.”
Legion quickly agreed.
“So hurry up and unlock the staff’s power. Just listen to me and follow my instructions!”
“Wait!”
“Is this the time to say wait!”
Bidet shouted, tearing at his hair.
In the meantime, the Three-Headed Medusa continued to fire Hell Lasers. There was a bit more time between attacks than before, but it was still continuous.
Somehow, it felt like it was preparing a big one, just like Mark said.
Still-
“Wanna make a deal with me?”
Legion shouted loudly.
“Are you crazy! This is not the time!”
“Then when is the time?”
Legion took a step back.
The continuous barrage was weakening his defenses. His magic was leaking out as quickly as water from a broken bowl.
Legion was holding on with all his might.
But he had to do what he had to do.
Crack!
The staff cracked further.
“Mr. Bidet, your staff is going to break. Give me another one.”
“I don’t have one! That’s the only one!”
“Huh, this is the only one?”
“If that breaks, you won’t be able to use the hidden skill! You’ll turn to stone, and so will I!”
“That won’t do.”
“So hurry up and chant the spell after me!”
“Just one contract.”
Bidet barely suppressed his rising anger.
What’s with this guy?
“I’m risking my life. Just one contract.”
“What? What, you little punk!”
“Just make me a staff. I’m a fan of yours.”
“What?”
“The staff you made fits perfectly in my hand. So just make me one. I’ll reward you handsomely.”
Bidet was a little touched. Many people had asked him to make toilets, but no one had ever asked him to make a staff.
Everyone always said, ‘Stop messing around and just focus on making toilets.’
Messing around?
Bidet had never made a staff as a joke. The staff was his best single creation. He had put all his effort into it, but no one had ever paid attention to it. But now, for the first time, someone needed his staff. And they were a fan.
No one understood this emotion.
“Could it be that you came here because of me?”
Legion was about to say ‘sort of,’ but he stopped. Bidet’s eyes were sparkling. He needed to scratch his back a little more.
“I risked my life because I needed your staff. The staff you made is the best. No matter what anyone else says, you are my hero.”
“Ah, God.”
Bidet barely held back the tears that were about to spill. This was the first time he had felt such emotion. He was someone’s hero. He could have such a significant impact on someone’s life.
“Okay. I’ll make you a staff.”
“Really?”
“Of course.”
“Thank you so much. While you’re at it, I’d like you to make some for my subordinates too.”
“Subordinates?”
“Yeah, they’re all your fans.”
“Really?”
“Really. There are more people who like the things you make than you think. Of course, I’ll pay you well.”
“Okay! I’ll make them all!”
“Wow! Bro, you’re awesome. The best!”
Bidet scratched his cheek and blushed. He was being called ‘bro’ for the first time.
“Now, chant the spell of release! Passion and romance fleeting like the wind, I still have a rough dream left in this world.”
Legion clenched his teeth. It was a really cheesy spell.
But what could he do?
To awaken the hidden staff’s power, he had to chant Bidet’s spell.
Why did he make the hidden staff so complicated and annoying?
-I speculate that the hidden staff was made to avoid detection by the Three-Headed Medusa.
To avoid detection by the Three-Headed Medusa?
-That’s right. Look at the shape of the staff. Does it look like a staff?
No.
-See? It thoroughly conceals that it is a weapon. Creating the hidden staff is also a kind of defense mechanism. Hurry up and chant the spell. The Three-Headed Medusa is preparing a straight.
Mark was right.
An enormous amount of magic was gathering around the Three-Headed Medusa. He didn’t know what kind of terrifying skill it was going to show with so much magic. With that much magic, it could destroy this cavern in an instant.
Gooooooo-
A grating sound, as if something was tearing through the air in the cavern, echoed.
-No time.
I know, I know.
Legion raised the staff high and shouted.
“Passion and romance fleeting like the wind, I still have a rough dream left in this world.”
Ugh, so embarrassing.
Instantly-
A red aura shot out from the hidden staff. At the same time, the hidden staff’s information was imprinted in Legion’s mind.
-A staff secretly made and feeling dejected.
Attack power increased by 30 percent.
Skill Water Pump available.
Skill Power Water Pump available. Can be used when the magic of Water Pump is fully charged.
Excellent resistance to fire.
Weak against fire-based attacks.
Oh!
Legion’s eyes widened.
It was a very useful staff in the current situation.
The phrase ‘weak against fire-based attacks’ resonated the most. Regardless of attack power, using fire-based skills would significantly reduce damage.
Then he might be able to block that ultra-high-temperature skill with tremendous attack power…
Huh.
-Ohm! It’s incomparable to the attacks so far!
It was true.
Instantly, cold sweat evaporated from Legion’s entire body. The Three-Headed Medusa unleashed an enormous amount of magic all at once. It seemed to have absorbed a significant portion of the boiling lava’s power.
It was pressuring Legion from all directions, making it impossible to dodge.
-You disgusting pig! Go! Hellfire!
A huge flash flew towards Legion.
“Deploy Water Pump! It’s a skill to block the Three-Headed Medusa’s attack!”
Bidet shouted.
Legion reflexively stretched out the staff. It was all or nothing. He couldn’t dodge it anyway. It felt like the ultra-high heat of the sunlight was evaporating him alive. That’s how terrifying the skill the Three-Headed Medusa used was.
“Skill Water Pump activated!”
What a corny skill name. It doesn’t even roll off the tongue.
Whoosh!
Finally, a stream of water compressed at ultra-high pressure shot out from the tip of the staff.
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
The powerful fire and water elements collided in the middle of the cavern. The aftermath was enormous. The shockwave spread in all directions, hitting the walls. The entire cavern shook, causing rocks hanging from the ceiling to fall.
Splash! Splash!
The lava surged wildly like a sea hit by a storm.
The impact wasn’t just that.
The two energies met, generating a tremendous amount of steam. The heat inside the cavern rose to the point where it was impossible to breathe.
Ugh, it’s hot.
Legion bit his lip tightly. He felt like he was going to be smoked. Sweat flowed so much that his whole body was soaked.
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
The two powerful energies wrestled in the air. It was precarious. Neither side could prevail.
But the Three-Headed Medusa’s magic seemed to be a little stronger. Or maybe the skill’s stats were higher.
The technique Legion used was slowly being pushed back. If it was pushed back even once, he wouldn’t be able to do anything and the game would be over.
“There’s still one more skill left! Use it! You have to pour all your magic into it!”
Bidet’s voice pierced through the steam.
That’s right, there’s still one left.
Skill Power Water Pump!
The magic of Water Pump seemed to be fully charged. The red lamp on the switch repeatedly turned on and off.
Legion gathered all his magic and poured it into the staff. The staff, which had been struggling, began to come back to life.
“Skill Power Water Pump activated!”
Boom!
Legion was startled.
It was an incredible water pressure.
It seemed to be at least twice as strong as the Skill Water Pump. The Skill Power Water Pump pierced through the Three-Headed Medusa’s Hellfire and struck its chest.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
A violent explosion erupted, and the Three-Headed Medusa was thrown dozens of meters away.
“Huff, huff.”
Legion breathed roughly.
Almost all of his magic was depleted. He had inadvertently used two skills at the same time. The amount of mana consumed was enormous. He couldn’t use them twice in a row.
If he drank two mana potions in a row, he could use the Water Pump skill about once. He wouldn’t be able to use the Power Water Pump skill for at least a few hours.
“It was a really disgusting snake. Snake soup, my ass. I’m not eating it.”
Legion shook his head.
He staggered towards Natalie. A thin shield was spread around Natalie. Thanks to that, she was not injured in this hot steam.
“You know magic too?”
“No, it’s not magic.”
“What’s that shield?”
“It’s a spirit. I’m close to the spirit of water, so I can withstand the steam.”
“Spirit?”
“Yes.”
“So, is a spirit similar to a summon?”
“A summon?”
“Yeah.”
“I’ve never had a summon, so I don’t know, but I think it’s probably similar. It’s just that if a summon is attached to its master, a spirit feels more like a friend.”
“A friend……”
“The degree of freedom is much higher…… and they can act completely independently.”
“They don’t betray you?”
“Once you make a contract with a spirit, they never betray you until you die.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
At Natalie’s words, Legion stroked his chin. If it was free, he thought it would be good to make a contract with a spirit. It could block this hot steam without consuming mana.
“But…… why aren’t the statues waking up?”
“I don’t know. I’m sure the Three-Headed Medusa has fallen…….”
Natalie tilted her head.
“You idiot! Don’t let your guard down, it’s not over yet!”
Bidet’s desperate cry came from beyond the space.
What? There’s no sign of the Three-Headed Medusa?
Legion was startled and turned around.
At the same time, a tail flew through the steam, aiming for Legion’s heart. He raised the staff to defend.
Snap-
It was Bidet’s staff, which was already cracked. The staff could no longer withstand the physical impact and broke in half.
Legion frowned as he looked at the broken staff.
Damn it…….
I’m screwed.
