Magic is Learned for Nothing – Episode 211
# 211
Wednesday’s Identity (1)
“Is it you?”
Red flames erupted from Sharon’s palms.
“Are you the one throwing the kingdom into chaos?”
Red magic! Magic wasn’t simply divided into red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Red magic was blood magic. Because it used blood as a medium, it had slightly different characteristics from other magic.
First, the advantage was that its attack power was higher compared to other types of magic, about 20 percent higher in numerical terms. Especially on nights with a full moon, races that had mastered red magic experienced a significant increase in magical power.
However, the problem was the consumption of blood and magic power…
It seemed that because it was so strong, it absorbed a lot of mana and quickly caused fatigue. Still, vampires could replenish their blood by drinking it at any time, but the True Ancestors hadn’t been drinking blood lately, which was becoming a weakness.
Sharon was a 4-circle master of red magic.
If she were fighting humans, her magical power alone would be close to that of a 5th-circle mage.
Even in the face of Sharon’s magical power, the woman before her was completely unfazed.
“Sharon, it’s been a while.”
Wednesday, the bishop of the Stone Head Church, said.
It was completely unexpected. Sharon felt a sense of bewilderment that prevented her from attacking. Come to think of it, the other person’s appearance and voice were familiar.
“Carrie, is that you?”
“Now do you recognize me?”
Wednesday took off her hood. Surprisingly, her eyes were gray.
“Really, Carrie?”
“Yes, it’s me.”
“Is it really you? How did this happen? Where have you been all this time? And what’s with those eyes?”
Wednesday put her hood back up.
Her slender waist was fully revealed. On her side, there was a scar that Sharon remembered from when they were children.
Wednesday left the scar as it was, without regenerating it.
“That’s…”
“My mark that only you would know.”
“Is it really you?”
Wednesday nodded slightly.
“Sister… why black magic? What on earth…”
Sharon looked at Wednesday with an expression of utter disbelief.
“You’ve been away from here for a long time. You wouldn’t know what happened to me during that time.”
Sharon’s facial muscles twitched slightly. Her sister’s voice was so cold.
“Come with me.”
“I don’t understand what you’re saying. Come with you? What does that mean?”
“Let’s just go. I’ll explain along the way.”
“Father has collapsed, and my older brother is dead. How can I leave!”
“Don’t worry about that. The True Ancestors will soon be extinct anyway.”
“What are you talking about? Why would we be extinct?”
“Because I’m going to make it happen.”
Wednesday replied firmly.
“Why… why?”
“These damn True Ancestors and the royal family took everything from me.”
Wednesday’s cold eyes flared with murderous intent.
“What on earth happened?”
At Sharon’s words, Wednesday calmed her breathing and began to tell her story.
“It must have been about 30 years after you left.”
After Sharon, her closest friend, left, Carrie couldn’t bear the loneliness.
As royalty and a princess, she couldn’t go outside freely.
All that was demanded of her was composure.
‘You just need to stay as you are.’
‘Don’t try to get involved in politics.’
‘Go to banquets and always show a smiling face.’
‘Soon, we will find you a suitable partner and marry you off.’
Carrie felt suffocated. She envied Sharon so much for leaving the kingdom as if shaking it all off.
So, she crossed the ice wall like Sharon.
She had heard countless times that beyond the ice wall, devilish humans and Lycans [werewolves] killed vampires on sight.
It took great courage to cross the ice wall alone.
But surprisingly, it was peaceful beyond the wall. The sight of a giant humpback whale putting on a fountain show was breathtaking.
She realized for the first time how vast the world was.
It was foolish to have been trapped inside the ice wall, brainwashed.
What were the True Ancestors so afraid of that they kept themselves locked inside the ice wall?
Carrie experienced a sense of liberation for the first time in her life.
But that didn’t last long. She was attacked by frost giants. With no practical experience, she was eventually cornered and about to die.
That’s when a human saved her.
He was a man with rough but warm eyes.
The two fell in love. Only after falling in love did she realize that he was a member of the Lycan clan.
Lycans were enemies.
That’s what she had been taught. She had been taught to capture and kill vampires on sight. But the first Lycan she met was warm and kind.
The two had children, a son and a daughter, twins. They first sought out the Lycan city. The Lycan elders were displeased, but they didn’t turn them away since they had children.
They settled on the outskirts of the city.
The children grew quickly. After two years, they started saying “Mommy” and “Daddy.” It was a difficult but fulfilling life.
However, something weighed on Carrie’s heart.
It was the desire to be recognized by her parents. So, she told her husband what she had been holding back.
The husband readily agreed.
“Let’s go. Let’s go and have our family recognized by your parents.”
“Really?”
“Really, of course.”
Carrie was so grateful to her husband.
She took her husband and children by the hand and headed to Elsa, the vampire kingdom.
They crossed the ice wall and arrived in Blood City.
But what greeted them was not a warm welcome.
She became an ugly traitor who had been in league with a Lycan.
Her husband was torn limb from limb and killed. Vampires threw stones at her dying husband.
The children, who she loved more than anything, were burned at the stake simply because they had Lycan blood.
Carrie went mad.
She went mad and was locked in a dungeon.
Time passed like that. No one was there to help the mad Carrie. It seemed she was being forgotten by everyone.
That’s when Archbishop Pest of the Stone Head Church reached out to Carrie.
“Do you hate them?”
“I hate them. I hate them so much.”
“How strong is your hatred?”
“Strong enough to burn everything.”
“Will you abandon your clan?”
“The moment my husband and children died, the word ‘clan’ disappeared from my mind.”
“Come with me. I will give you the power to burn the world.”
Carrie became a devout follower of the Stone Head Church. She faithfully received the Archbishop’s teachings in prison.
And on the day she was baptized as a bishop-
She made a request to her father.
“I repent for my past. I will live according to Father’s will. I will never again do anything that goes against Father’s will. Please forgive me just once.”
Carrie was pardoned.
And so, she lived a life completely different from her previous one.
“That, that happened…”
Sharon covered her mouth with her hand.
It was something she had never known. It was so horrific that she couldn’t even offer words of comfort.
She thought of her nephews and nieces, whom she had never met.
They probably looked a lot like her beautiful sister. The boy would have resembled the Lycan who roamed the icy lands.
The image of the children burning and disappearing flashed before her eyes. Tears welled up.
What on earth did they do to the children!
No one had told Sharon that such a thing had happened.
“Soon… the kingdom will end. All vampires must die. I can’t sleep. Every night, that day comes back to me. My husband came here alone. He didn’t come to fight. He just came to get permission for his love with me. They tore him apart and killed him. They stoned him to death. My husband’s screams never leave my ears.”
“But… Brother-in-law wouldn’t want to see you like this.”
“He wouldn’t want that. That man loved peace. So, I thought about giving up many times. But… the sight of my children burning before my eyes… that can never be.”
“That, that’s…”
“Only a mother with children can understand. It felt like my heart was being torn out. I felt the pain of my body being ripped to shreds. That pain still hasn’t stopped. It will continue forever until the moment I die. The kingdom will burn. Forever with me. But not you. You are innocent. So… come with me. I’ll let you out beyond the ice wall.”
“Sister.”
“Yes.”
“I don’t understand all of your pain. But this isn’t right. This is definitely wrong. What you’re doing now is no different from what they did.”
“Hoo…”
Wednesday sighed deeply.
“Think about it one more time. I don’t have time.”
“I’m sorry, Sister.”
“I knew you would answer that way. That’s why it hurts even more.”
Wednesday’s magical power began to surge explosively.
* * *
Thanks to Reedkroft’s suicide squad, Legion was able to easily descend to the third floor of the dungeon.
Reedkroft and the suicide squad members had taken care of all the guards guarding the dungeon. Their main weapons were throwing stars and daggers. They were quite skilled assassins.
Legion came down to the torture chamber, making clanging noises.
The ceiling was so low that Legion bumped his head several times. Each time, the ceiling crumbled down. It seemed like he was just breaking it on purpose as he passed.
Watching Legion, Reedkroft and the suicide squad members clicked their tongues. He was a monster in his own right. They didn’t know what his head was made of.
The iron prison door was also broken with one headbutt. Just stick your head in and everything is okay.
“Sister!”
Tando rushed into the torture chamber.
She untied the wires and freed her colleagues who were hanging in the air.
The hunters were exhausted. They had been severely tortured, and there wasn’t a single unharmed spot on them.
“You, you came.”
Napalm smiled faintly at Tando.
“Of course, I had to come. I’m so glad you’re alive.”
The two hugged each other and wept.
-Life force has dropped below 10 percent. A significant amount of moisture has been lost from the body.
So, their blood was sucked?
What’s the way to save them?
-Crystals must be injected.
Huh? I don’t have any crystals right now.
-Crystals must be injected.
I said I don’t have any crystals.
-Death will occur soon if crystals to replenish magic power and blood are not injected.
So…
Damn it, you want me to do that here?
-Just kill them then.
Hey! You crazy bastard! How can I do that here!
