Beric’s vision slowly spun.
Time seemed to crawl. The sky became the ground, and the ground turned into the sky, swirling around him. Everything was scattering like leaves… what was that?
‘Ah. That’s my body.’
Beric’s eyes widened in disbelief.
He clearly saw his torso and limbs losing their form, scattering into pieces. Was his head currently spinning in the air after being cleanly severed? Wait, what the hell? What was going on?
“You foolish thing-”
High Priest Rajuda smiled, his eyes narrowing with amusement. His voice seemed to stretch out, lingering in Beric’s ears, distorted by the strange passage of time.
Just a flick on the forehead shattered my body? No way. But the body I see before me? It’s definitely mine, isn’t it?

Is this what death is like? It’s quieter and more boring than I thought. How utterly uninteresting.
Beric focused his will, watching High Priest Rajuda reach out towards him. He wanted to move his body, but his body was lying face down, headless, so there was no way to do anything. It was a frustrating situation.
