#130.
“Rain?”
Noticing the rain, the members glanced worriedly out the window, one by one.
On any other day, it wouldn’t have mattered much, but it had to be today, the day they were performing on an outdoor stage.
Rain made it difficult to perform and to watch the performance.
“It’s just a drizzle, but…”
Jung Gil-joo muttered with a heavy heart.
If there was any consolation, it was that the rain wasn’t too heavy.
“It looks like spring is finally here. Spring is coming soon.”
Louie sniffed between the window gaps, smelling the damp earth mixed in the air.
Louie was more captivated by the scenery outside the window than worried about the stage.
Some of the members were about to say, “Is this about spring now? The rain is a big deal,” but instead, they muttered, “Honestly, Kim Louie,” and looked at the scenery.
Green leaves were sprouting on every densely planted tree.
He had felt it when he came to the festival before, but the campus was particularly beautiful.
“It’s kind of charming with the rain.”
Do-jae was also lost in thought for a moment.
The members had given up their college life for their careers.
Most of them were attending online universities, so even seeing students passing through the campus with umbrellas could make them envious.
But the sentiment was fleeting.
The fans who had been lingering in front of the van were also scrambling to avoid the rain.
Those who had prepared umbrellas opened them, and those who hadn’t hurried to the back of the seating area where they could take shelter from the rain.
Of course, there were also those who stayed, getting rained on, trying to capture the moment the members went on stage.
Hung-min thought their passion was amazing as he watched them take off the clothes they were wearing to wrap around their lenses to protect their cameras from getting wet.
“It doesn’t look like the stage will be canceled with this amount of rain, so we should head out soon.”
A staff member was coming towards the van.
At Jung Gil-joo’s words, the members prepared to leave the van.
While Jung Gil-joo put umbrellas over the members and blocked the fans from approaching,
the members hurried into the makeshift tent behind the stage.
The stylists, who had come with umbrellas, checked the members’ outfits, hair, and makeup one last time.
Brushing the raindrops off his head, Jung Gil-joo said to the members.
“The stage will be slippery, so take it easy. Take it easy.”
“Yes.”
The members nodded with stiff expressions.
“…We need to be careful of electrocution.”
Kyu-sung said, holding the microphone in his hand.
An outdoor stage on a rainy day.
There were countless things to be careful about.
“Safety is the top priority.”
Before going on stage, Ki-joon reached out his hand to do a team cheer, making eye contact with the members as if to confirm their resolve one last time.
When the members nodded, Ki-joon soon shouted the slogan.
A small but clear cheer echoed through the cluttered tent.
“You can go up now!”
A staff member who had wiped the water off the stage gave the okay sign, and the members went up on stage.
“Kya!”
“Waaaaah!”
As soon as the members stood on the stage, cheers erupted.
As it rained, most of the student audience had retreated to the back of the stage where there was a roof.
However, those who wanted to see MOST up close stood right in front of the stage, enduring the rain.
Some had brought raincoats, but most had not.
“Hello!”
“We are MOST!”
The members greeted the audience with louder voices than usual.
They were so grateful to see the students and fans standing there to see them, not caring that their clothes were getting wet.
“It suddenly started raining. Thank you for waiting. We’ll start the show right away!”
Ki-joon made a short comment.
As soon as Ki-joon finished speaking, the members bowed their heads or waved to the fans who were calling out to them, and then took their positions.
Fortunately, the floor wasn’t as slippery as they had thought.
“Congratulations on your admission!”
Before the intro began, during a brief moment of silence after they took their positions,
Woo-cheol shouted towards the audience, holding the microphone.
“Waaaaah!”
“MOST, we love you!”
The freshmen who had just entered the university responded enthusiastically to Woo-cheol’s words.
A fan of MOST, who was also a student at this university, had something that could have been rain or tears streaming down their face.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Soon, with the beat of the intro that made hearts flutter just by listening to it, Do-jae in the center sent a look to the audience.
MOST was scheduled to perform two songs on today’s stage, and the first song was 〈Remember〉, which they were actively promoting.
“Wow… He’s so handsome. It was worth the wait. Wow… I should have just stood in the front and gotten rained on. When else would I see a face like that.”
One of the female students, who usually only had a passing interest in celebrities on TV, muttered with a surprised expression.
Exclamations of “Wow” kept coming out.
The male student next to her frowned and shook his head.
“Ah… Well, he’s not that great. It’s all makeup.”
“Senior… Are you crazy?”
“What? How dare you talk to your senior like that…!”
“Even if you put on makeup, you wouldn’t look like that.”
The ‘senior’ was silenced by the female student’s sternness.
Another male student next to her took the female student’s side and chimed in.
“Hey, hey. You’re being a bit harsh this time. He’s incredibly handsome. Especially the one who came out first. Was it Kang Do-jae?”
“Oh my gosh. How do you know Kang Do-jae?”
“I know that much too. My girlfriend likes him. Her phone background isn’t me, it’s him.”
Even while talking, the students couldn’t take their eyes off MOST’s performance in the distance.
Even if they weren’t on stage, their brightly dyed hair stood out among the black hair, and the dazzling performance made it hard to turn their heads elsewhere.
Even though their movements must have been restricted because of the rain, the MOST members didn’t show any signs of it.
They were members who had practiced even with opaque blindfolds on to accurately match the angles and positions.
No matter what the situation, the members’ choreography accuracy did not drop.
Thanks to this, the raindrops falling on the members harmonized with their charismatic expressions and leather outfits, creating an atmosphere like a scene from a movie.
“Amazing…”
Admiration came out of the mouths of those who watched.
-I can’t run away anymore
-I can’t let go
“Remember! MOST!”
“Remember! Yoon Ki-joon, Lee Heung-min, Kim Kyu-sung, Kang Do-jae, Park Woo-cheol, Kim Louie!!!”
“Aaaaaah!”
The voices of the fans cheering for the members grew louder.
The fans’ voices, which seemed to pierce the sky, were another source of amazement for the general students.
“The fans are so passionate.”
“Is that what they call ‘ppasooni’… [a Korean slang term for an obsessive fan]?”
“Senior. ‘Ppasooni’ is a derogatory term.”
“Ah, I see. Were you a fan of them?”
“I’m going to become a fan from now on. I think they’re the best performers of all the singers who have performed at the school so far.”
“That’s true. Why are they working so hard for a congratulatory performance at the entrance ceremony?”
-Countless voices flowing down
It was the killing part right before the chorus.
The audience’s mouths dropped open at the sight of them moving in sync as promised, then tilting their heads and waists with seductive eyes.
“Uaaaaaaah!”
“Do-jae-yaaaaaaak!”
-I’m going to grab it, I’m going to jump over it
-Even if it shatters in the air-Oooooo-
Kyu-sung’s high note echoed loudly through the stadium.
They had brought a backing track with more vocals than usual in preparation for the poor sound quality, but Kyu-sung’s voice broke through even that.
“Huh…”
Even the male student who had been grumbling with his arms crossed had his eyes wide open.
“Is my hearing messed up right now? What, they’re so good…”
“Amazing.”
Before they knew it, students who were passing by were gathering one by one at the loud music.
Students with umbrellas formed a sea of people behind the seating area.
“Ah, don’t push!”
“Ugh!”
It was a mess.
Those who belatedly found out that MOST had come to the school rushed in, trying to get to the front.
Among the crowd were also many foreign exchange students.
They had been drawn in by a song they had heard on Mytube [a fictional analogue to YouTube] and stood there as if frozen after seeing the performance.
“(It’s as cool as the music video?)”
“(I’ve seen that group’s music video too! They’re really good in person, aren’t they?)”
While the crowd was buzzing, Do-jae and Heung-min stood on either side and grabbed Louie’s hands.
Originally, Louie was supposed to spin in the air.
However, it was impossible to do an aerial spin on a stage like today.
While waiting, the three had agreed that Louie would simply jump.
Thud! Louie jumped high without fear.
“Kyaaaa!”
Thanks to this, a huge cheer erupted from below the stage, as loud as when he did an aerial spin.
Louie’s ash-colored pink hair fluttered in the sky.
Drip, drip, red dye dripped from Louie and Heung-min’s red-dyed hair.
The dye stained their faces like blood, but they performed regardless.
-I’m going to grab it, I’m going to jump over it!
By the time they entered the second chorus, the members were already soaked with rain and sweat.
Louie’s fan, who was filming Louie with a camera, kept their mouth shut so that their voice wouldn’t be mixed in.
However, they were itching to cheer for the members right away.
‘Today’s performance… This is legendary.’
The desire to capture this performance completely on video was raging.
If they filmed and edited it well, a masterpiece fancam [a fan-recorded video] that would ‘go viral’ on Mytube would be born.
‘Louie…! Let’s go to the best posts!’
Muttering only to themselves, Louie’s fan fixed their body so that the hand holding the camera would not shake.
It was an incredible determination even while being pushed around.
-Grab my hand even in the upside-down world!
It was Do-jae’s clean finish.
From the time the 〈Remember〉 performance ended, the drizzle had turned into a downpour.
The members and the audience couldn’t hide their surprise at the heavy rain.
As the song ended, the staff, confused as to whether the stage could continue, spoke with Jung Gil-joo.
Ki-joon, who was on stage, also went down below the stage for a moment to discuss.
The members on stage looked down at the audience, breathing heavily.
The audience was already soaked but did not leave.
It was before MOST’s performance began that they had left their seats one by one and retreated to the back.
Those who had seen the 〈Remember〉 performance were shining with anticipation for the next performance.
The colorful umbrellas gathered in the distance were also visible.
“What should we do? It seems dangerous to continue any further…”
MOST had already done their best.
The students were satisfied with the performance.
Hoping to finish the performance here, Jung Gil-joo said.
However, Ki-joon hesitated.
Looking at the members on stage, they seemed to have already made up their minds.
“Since it’s come to this… I think it would be good to do all the promised performances.”
“You guys… Are you okay?”
With a firm look, Ki-joon nodded.
At that moment, Do-jae, who was on stage, came to Ki-joon and Jung Gil-joo.
“What if we do the remaining performance… like this?”
