The Hainan disciples just watched, surprised. Namgung Dowi, the Danak Sword, stepped forward. He was once famous, known as someone who would lead the good groups in the future. Now, he was protecting them.
“Namgung…” someone whispered. Namgung Dowi sighed quietly.
‘This is bad.’ He felt tired already, even after training. He hadn’t been with Mount Hua for very long. Learning martial arts takes time; you can’t get strong quickly. But still, Namgung Dowi stepped forward without fear.
‘I know this feeling.’ Fighting enemies too strong for him. Fighting hard and not giving up when things are desperate. That’s why he could do this. He could face them. He could protect them. He was not like the Namgung Clan in the past, who were lost and confused.
If he failed to protect them now, it would mean he hadn’t changed at all since Plum Blossom Island. Namgung Dowi could not let that happen.
Namgung Dowi held his sword tightly. His knuckles became white.
“Charge!” the enemy yelled. They seemed to forget their surprise and quickly ran at Namgung Dowi. There were three enemies, the same number he fought against Jo Gul and the Mount Hua students before. Namgung Dowi’s eyes became serious.
‘They think I’m strong, but…’ *Whoosh!* His sword made a loud, powerful sound.
The Namgung Clan swords were very famous, passed down for generations. The best swords, used by the main family, were like treasures because they were so good. But it wasn’t just to show off. They needed strong swords. Normal swords would break quickly because the Namgung Clan’s sword moves were too powerful. Only special, strong swords could handle it.
*Whoosh!* The Bloodclad Warriors, with their thin swords, rushed at Namgung Dowi like fast birds attacking. They looked like red lines, ready to stab him. Suddenly, Namgung Dowi’s eyes shone brightly.
‘You made a mistake!’ *BOOM!* He stomped his foot hard, using his inner power. ‘You picked the wrong fight!’ *CRASH!* Namgung Dowi swung his sword in a wide arc. A huge wave of white light came from his sword, like a waterfall of energy. It was like a giant white cloth opening in the air. This sword energy was so wide it covered all the enemies in front of him.
“What…?” The Bloodclad Warriors’ eyes opened wide. Before they could move, the sword energy hit them and threw them back.
*CRASH!* There was no scream. The Bloodclad Warriors were thrown like broken dolls, landing hard on the ground. It was amazing to see. Everyone fighting stopped and looked at Namgung Dowi.
Namgung Dowi breathed deeply. His sword hand was shaking because he used so much power. But people watching him couldn’t see that. They only saw his calm face.
“I will stop them here!” He stood up straight and tall. His strong presence made the Bloodclad Warriors pause.
The Bloodclad Warrior in the middle squinted. ‘Namgung Clan, huh?’ This was not good for them. Their weapons were thin swords. They were trained to attack weak points. Usually, young, unskilled fighters were easy for them. No matter how good someone’s sword skills were, there would always be openings in a fight. They could just use their thin swords to stab those openings and win easily.
But this sword style was different. It was more like a big cannon than sword fighting. The person using the sword might be weak, but how could you find a weak point in flying sword energy? If they stayed far away and just used sword energy, their thin swords were too weak to fight back.
‘Very bad match.’ That’s what this was. The Bloodclad Warriors didn’t know how to beat Namgung Dowi right now. Maybe they could keep fighting and losing men until he ran out of power, but they couldn’t do that now.
‘There’s only one way…’ The Bloodclad Warrior leader snapped his fingers.
“Forget him,” he ordered. He pointed at the Hainan disciples behind Namgung Dowi. “Get close to the Hainan people. He can’t use that sword energy if he might hurt his friends. Then he’s just a normal swordsman.”
They didn’t say anything. As soon as they heard the order, the Bloodclad Warriors moved together, like one person. Just seeing this showed how well-trained they were.
*Whoosh!* The Bloodclad Warriors charged forward again, but this time they went to the sides, not straight at Namgung Dowi. Some of them might get hit by his sword energy from the side, but they didn’t care about that. They just followed orders. Following orders was the most important thing for them, even if it was very hard.
“Damn it!” Namgung Dowi frowned as he understood their plan. No matter how much sword energy he used, he couldn’t stop all of them if they attacked from different sides.
Just as Namgung Dowi was about to swing his sword wildly, he heard a sound in the air. *Whoosh! Pop-pop-pop-pop!* A small ball flew to the right and exploded, making pink poison dust spread out. The Bloodclad Warriors slowed down, surprised by the poison dust in front of them.
*Whoosh!* Then, many hidden needles shot out from the poison dust. *Clang! Clang clang!* The Bloodclad Warriors quickly swung their swords to knock away the needles. Even if the needles were clean, they would be covered in poison after going through the dust. They knew poison could kill you quickly in a fight. That’s why they had to stop even the smallest needles.
“Of course, it’s the Tang Clan…” Dang Pae walked out slowly from the poison dust, as if the poison couldn’t hurt him.
“The Namgung Clan might not like us much, but we won’t let you Demonic Sect people ignore us!” *Scrape-scrape!* The throwing knives between his fingers rubbed together, making a loud, sharp sound.
Then, curved blades of energy flew out and rained down on the Bloodclad Warriors on the other side, like butterflies flying around.
“Ugh!” *Clang clang!* They weren’t very strong, but each one moved like it was alive. Like many butterflies flying in the woods. If you ignored these strange attacks, you would die. It was that simple. So, the Bloodclad Warriors had to stop running.
*Thump. Thump.* Lim Sobyeong walked in, fanning himself and making a clicking sound with his tongue.
“You guys are from the Hao Clan,” he said.
“Let me see,” Lim Sobyeong continued. “Thin swords, masks, red clothes… The sword style you use looks like the Starving Wolf Soul-Chasing Sword. Are you the Soul-Chasing Team of the Hao Clan?” The Bloodclad Warriors just glared at Lim Sobyeong.
Lim Sobyeong smiled slightly. “Anyway, I don’t understand these Demonic Sect people. They never talk about who they are, but why do they all wear the same clothes, use the same weapons, and fight with the same moves? Do they want people to notice them?”
Dang Pae laughed loudly at Lim Sobyeong’s mean words.
“Aren’t you from the Demonic Sect too?”
“Hey! That was a long time ago! Don’t talk about the past,” Lim Sobyeong joked, waving his fan. But even though he was joking, he kept looking at the enemies seriously. It was like he was trying to see everything about them.
“I didn’t expect the Green Forest King to help Hainan,” Dang Pae said.
“If the gums are gone, the teeth get cold,” Lim Sobyeong replied. “If I protect these guys, maybe I’ll get stabbed less.”
Lim Sobyeong started to turn away, then shook his head.
“Well… it’s not like I’m scared of anyone. Don’t get me wrong.”
“Nobody thinks you are,” Dang Pae said.
“Tsk.” Lim Sobyeong slowly lowered his fan. “The Soul-Chasing Team of the Hao Clan. Every Demonic Sect has teams like that to chase people. The Hao Clan has many because of what they do. Think of them as one of those teams.”
“Oh, so how do we fight them?” Dang Pae asked.
“How should I know?” Lim Sobyeong shrugged. “There are many teams, not just one. And I’m a scholar, not someone who knows everything. I just know they exist.”
“You’re a bandit, not a scholar,” Dang Pae said.
“Same thing,” Lim Sobyeong replied.
“Never mind,” Dang Pae sighed.
“And in times like this, doesn’t the Demonic Sect seem better than those fancy good groups?” Lim Sobyeong asked.
“Huh?” Dang Pae looked confused. Lim Sobyeong glanced back. “Someone young is protecting them, but they are just hiding and shaking.”
Lim Sobyeong sneered. “When weak enemies hurt their older friends, they acted like they would kill them. But when they see strong enemies, they become quiet. These so-called good groups are nothing special. The Demonic Sect is bad for a different reason, but they are at least stubborn.”
The Hainan disciples’ faces twisted when they heard this. They realized they were scared and felt ashamed. Just one sentence was enough to make them angry.
“Okay, don’t worry. I’ll protect you,” Lim Sobyeong said. “Just watch from there.”
When Lim Sobyeong said this, the Hainan disciples suddenly became very angry.
“Who said we were shaking!” one yelled.
“We were just surprised for a moment!” another shouted.
“That’s right! What do you think of Hainan!”
“Oh, really?” Lim Sobyeong chuckled. “Then don’t just talk, show me with your swords.”
“You…!” The Hainan disciples glared angrily at Lim Sobyeong and charged forward.
Namgung Dowi, Dang Pae, and the Hainan disciples, following Lim Sobyeong, all became very angry at the Bloodclad Warriors. The Bloodclad Warriors’ faces became serious again. The energy they had tried to stop was now back, stronger than before.
