Episode 127: Love is the Enemy
2023.12.05.
The day to finally meet Theresa was only a week away.
Leia, Terrence, and Alicia had to go to Galdenia, so the employees were busy packing.
However, the Duke’s residence descended into a state of chaos because Chaner started crying from the morning.
“I’m going too!”
Pauline and Luke tried to coax her, but it was no use.
“Luke is going, so I have to go too!”
The root of the problem was that Terrence’s secretary, Luke, was going to Galdenia.
“Chaner, only a small number of people can go this time.”
Leia couldn’t even count how many times she had repeated the same words. Seeing Empress Theresa was a dangerous task that required risking one’s life. There was no point in rushing over there.
Besides, there was no telling what kind of unexpected behavior the innocent Chaner might exhibit.
“Luke, you’re out this time. I’ll take Louis and James.”
Terrence made a swift decision, as if he couldn’t stand it any longer. James’s lips twitched.
“I’m sorry, Duke.”
Luke repeatedly apologized, not having the face to look at Terrence.
“It’s not your fault.”
“It’s not Luke’s fault. Love is the enemy,” Chaner, who had been crying, suddenly stopped and offered this ridiculous pronouncement in response to Terrence’s words.
“Who told you that love is the enemy?”
He wondered who had taught Chaner such nonsense.
“Grandpa did. He said love is the enemy, so people change. He said you’ve changed the most, Mister.”
“Me? No way. I’m always the same. Always calm and collected.”
“Ah! Is that so? Yesterday, when you went to the Imperial Palace, the men on the street went ‘whee’ at Grace!”
“Yesterday?”
Terrence’s face changed rapidly. It seemed to be about what happened when he left Leia at the dress shop and briefly entered the palace.
But he didn’t know what ‘whee’ meant, so he asked Chaner again.
“They made a ‘whee’ sound with their lips and said, ‘Miss! You’re so pretty.'”
Even as the people around them turned pale and watched Terrence’s reaction, Chaner remained consistently cheerful.
“Luke! Bring those bastards here right now!”
“Yes? Who are we bringing?”
“I’m talking about the guys who flirted with Grace!”
Terrence couldn’t help but shout in anger.
Luke sighed deeply. How many men were there who flirted with women on the street? Besides, how was he supposed to know who they were and bring them? Terrence’s calmness and composure had long since vanished.
‘Love is the enemy.’
Luke clicked his tongue as he looked at Terrence and Chaner. Just then, Louis approached and added a word.
“I’ll stay with Chaner, so please take the Duke to Galdenia.”
Louis gently wrapped his arm around Chaner’s shoulder.
“What?”
‘That bastard! First Miss, then Chaner……!’
He and Chaner even had a wedding date set. On the other hand, Louis thought it was pure consideration.
“Chaner, is it okay if Louis stays instead of me?”
Luke finally checked with Chaner.
“I don’t like it! Louis likes all women.”
Chaner pushed away Louis’s arm that was around her shoulder.
“When did I ever!”
Louis retorted, and the three began to bicker.
Leia shook her head with Pauline as she watched the immature trio.
At this rate, there was no telling when they would leave.
“Pauline, please take care of the dress shop while I’m gone. Take orders well.”
“Don’t worry, it’s completely settled now and running smoothly.”
Just then, James approached with a pleased face and said.
“Laughter has never ceased at the Duke’s residence. This is what a home should be.”
“That’s right.”
Pauline nodded and replied.
Every morning was chaotic, but she didn’t want to go back to the old days.
Terrence used to exude a dark aura like a demon king who ruled the world of darkness, and Luke and James were rigid as they assisted such a master, and the employees lived in fear, watching their master’s every move.
“It’s all thanks to our Miss.”
Even if Pauline boasted, James didn’t deny it.
Because it was a hundred or a thousand times right. Grace seemed to have a strange ability to make even enemies into friends.
Although she had a weak and delicate body, she was a person with a broad mind. Above all, she was strong.
Leia was pleased to see the Duke’s residence filled with laughter.
But she was facing a big challenge. She could only hope that she would overcome it well.

Allen was so on edge that he couldn’t sleep without drinking.
‘I’m going to put a bullet in your head.’
He bought all the guns that were said to be good and started checking them every morning.
Then the secretary comforted Allen.
“Sir, don’t be too discouraged. In my opinion, you haven’t changed much from before.”
Honestly, he had changed a lot.
Not only was his face severely asymmetrical, but one of his cheekbones was sunken, so he couldn’t recognize his old appearance.
“You don’t have to say things you don’t mean.”
No matter who comforted him, he was the one who knew his face the best.
The secretary looked at him with a pitiful face and hesitated. Soon, the secretary made up his mind and opened his mouth.
“Sir, there is a famous doctor in Landes. He’s eccentric, but his skills are the best.”
“If there was such a doctor, there’s no way I wouldn’t know.”
Allen’s reaction was lukewarm. He had traveled all over the continent and met all the doctors who were said to be famous.
But he had not met a single doctor who could restore his face.
“I guarantee his skills.”
“What?”
“When my daughter was young, her face was injured and her nose was crooked, but he corrected it and even trimmed the bridge of her nose beautifully.”
Only then did Allen slowly react.
“It costs a bit, but he has medical technology that no one else has tried. He will not only restore your face to its original state, but also make it look better.”
“Is he a plastic surgeon?”
“He calls himself the creator of beauty.”
“He’s crazy.”
But he was tempted. Either way, with this face, there was no chance of participating in the selection.
He had spent a lot of money on grain in the famine-stricken northern region to win Theresa’s favor, but his face would hold him back.
No, to be exact, it was because of Terrence.
“Bring him.”
“I understand.”
How much more could he be ruined here? He could trust his secretary because he was a person who didn’t say things he didn’t mean.
Just in time, the maid Mia came in with tea.
“Sir, have some tea.”
Mia kept replaying the conversation she had overheard outside the door in her head.
‘Alicia said she’s coming to Galdenia soon, right?’
She thought she should tell him in time.

Terrence and Leia arrived at the Galdenia mansion.
The employees were carrying luggage, and Sarah and James were busy organizing their masters’ belongings.
“We’ll stay here until the consort selection.”
“When are they holding the selection?”
“Well… I don’t know.”
Theresa only accepted applications to participate in the selection and did not announce when she would hold the event.
“Maybe it will be done secretly.”
“Secretly?”
Was she going to secretly observe the candidates without holding a crown prince selection banquet like last time?
Leia’s mind was complicated because she needed to know the specific details to prevent Allen from being selected.
That wasn’t the only worry.
Leia found it strange that she wasn’t pregnant even though she was intimate with Terrence.
“When will I be able to have a child?”
Vivian’s face, radiant with her swelling belly, came to her mind every day.
“We haven’t even had a wedding yet. Don’t be impatient.”
“I don’t want to lose a baby without even knowing I had one, like last time.”
To be more honest, she felt jealous of Vivian.
‘I want to have a perfect family like the Empress.’
How happy would she be if she, Terrence, and their child were together?
She was diligently taking the nutritional supplements that Sarah gave her, hoping for a complete family.
“Grace, naturally… you know?”
“Yes, I’ve heard that it’s even worse if you’re impatient.”
Leia said with a weak smile.
“Now that we’re in Galdenia, shouldn’t we pay more attention to Empress Theresa’s affairs?”
“I will.”
Because many people’s lives were at stake.
Terrence couldn’t ignore Leia’s earnest desire for a baby.
‘If you find out what I did, you’ll feel betrayed, right?’
Did he do it because he liked it? It was just because of the cruel fate that put him to the test.
‘I don’t regret it. I don’t want to have a child at the cost of your life.’
Even if he asked himself a hundred times, the answer was only one. He couldn’t help it even if he was called selfish.
He would rather be cursed than drive Leia to her death.
‘I’m happy enough with just you.’
That feeling was genuine. Just looking at her like this filled his heart with contentment.
“I’m sorry for being childish.”
Leia gave Terrence a peck on the lips.
“I love you, Terrence.”
“Kiss me as much as you love me.”
As he whispered, looking at Leia with deep eyes, she kissed him passionately.
He savored her sweet lips and swallowed her hot breath.
Leia was as soft as a dove’s down. When she touched his body, it was not easy for Terrence to maintain his self-control.
After the deep and intense kiss ended, Leia closed her eyes and felt the sweet afterglow.
“I’m not afraid at all.”
“Huh?”
“Empress Theresa, pregnancy, business. There’s nothing I can’t do as long as Terrence is by my side.”
Her blue-violet eyes sparkled even more brightly. Looking at them, he fell helplessly.
‘You are the only one for me.’
He couldn’t bring himself to say it, but he looked at Leia with that earnestness in his eyes, hoping it would be conveyed to her heart.
“Grace will do well in everything.”
“No. It’s impossible without you by my side.”
“There’s no way I won’t be by your side.”
“That’s right. Let’s be together forever.”
The two lips met again.
