Revenge Has Interest 172
172. I’m Going Back to Terrun (172/200)
2024.01.19.
Leah raced down the dark, narrow path, running towards the faint light she could see in the distance.
‘If I have to choose, it’s Terrun, of course.’
It didn’t matter if she could never return to being Leah Hamilton.
Grace Vizac was already a part of her, and her life was now her own. She would choose a life where she could be with Terrun, no matter what.
‘Terrun, wait for me. I’m coming.’
She ran, exhaling slowly.
But gradually, her consciousness began to fade. Her vision blurred, and her mind was in turmoil.
‘This must be why Grace told me to hold on.’
‘I won’t give up.’
Terrun and the children were waiting for her, so she couldn’t afford to delay even for a moment.
‘My man, my children. And my life.’
However, the life that Leah was desperately trying to protect seemed to be dimming.
Only then did Leah realize that she didn’t have much time left.
If she didn’t hurry, she would be swallowed by the darkness chasing her and never return to Terrun.
‘No! I didn’t fight so hard to collapse like this!’
Despite the suffocating pain, she didn’t stop running.
Thinking that any death would be painful, she had nothing more to fear. No, what was more terrifying than death was losing Terrun.
Perhaps her desperate situation got through. The small light grew larger and closer.
‘Just a little further.’
However, Leah’s body couldn’t keep up with her desperation. She collapsed right in front of the door and couldn’t move anymore. Then, the door of light slowly shrank.
‘No! Don’t close!’
Leah dragged her leaden body, desperately pushing her arms and belly to move closer to the door.
‘I’m going! I must!’
Her eyes turned red with burst blood vessels, and her lips turned blue, but she didn’t stop.
If she stopped to catch her breath, the door would close.
Leah crawled into the doorway with all her might until her vision became faint. It was just before the door closed.
“Haa……!”
As soon as she crossed the threshold, fresh air rushed in. Leah gasped for breath and opened her eyes wide.
‘The smell of a hospital.’
She groped around blindly until she felt hair.
She knew whose hair it was without even looking.
“Ter……run.”
Finally, she had returned. After wandering through the world of unconsciousness, she had come to him. Tears welled in her eyes.
She had stood at the door of the afterlife, but she had finally made it back.
Grace hadn’t come to take her life; she had come to awaken her fading soul.
Grace was the one who pushed her back to Terrun and the children.
Leah opened her eyes wide and looked around. Then, she met a face she had missed so much.
“Sister!”
“Chan……nel.”
Her lips were dry, and her voice didn’t come out properly, but she called her with strength. Channel rushed to the bedside.
“Did you sleep well?”
“Uh……huh.”
At Leah’s answer, Channel looked down at Terrun, who was sleeping face down.
“Mister! Wake up!”
Thwack-! Channel hit Terrun’s back hard with her hand.
Then, Terrun woke up with a start. He looked around in a daze and met Leah’s eyes.
“Grace.”
“Terrun.”
The two called each other’s names as if time had stopped.
He probably couldn’t tell if it was a dream or reality yet. Then, Channel bit the back of Terrun’s hand.
“Ouch!”
“Mister! It’s not a dream, right?”
“No, it’s not a dream.”
His gaze returned to Leah, and tears welled up in his eyes.
As Leah struggled to open her arms, Terrun hugged her and cried out loud.
He had so much to say when she woke up, but he could only shed tears of relief.
Leah thought she would have so much to say when she met him again, but only tears came out.
‘What words are needed? I’ve met Terrun like this.’
Leah felt him with her whole body. More than a hundred words, his scent, voice, warmth, and touch were more touching.
Terrun thanked every god in the world.
He was so afraid that they would take away the only light he had left.
He thought he would never see her jewel-like blue-violet eyes again.
“It’s enough that you’ve woken up.”
My strong woman, she passed through the dark tunnel and finally returned to me.
Leah stroked Terrun’s face, shedding tears of emotion.
“Is this real?”
“It’s real. You and I are alive. And our children are healthy.”
“Oh my!”
Leah was overwhelmed with emotion and shed tears again. The two cried with their foreheads touching.
There was no way to express this emotion that shook their souls with any words. Just saying they were happy was not enough.
“I was scared you wouldn’t come back.”
“How could I not? I knew Terrun was waiting, so how could I not come back?”
“If you didn’t come back, I was going to come and get you.”
“Grace helped me.”
“What?”
“Grace helped me so I could return to you.”
“I see……”
Terrun’s voice choked up, but one thing was certain: Leah was also working hard to wake up, even in her unconsciousness.
Leah is a strong woman, so I knew she would never give up.
Terrun hugged Leah again. I must never let her go again. Then, Leah’s heartbeat resonated against him.
How touching… Then I should feel her touch too. Soon their lips met passionately.
* * *
It had been almost three months since they returned to the Duke’s mansion.
Terrun hated Leah having a hard time, so he hired four nannies.
Even so, Leah spent a certain amount of time with the children every day.
Of course, she would automatically call the nanny when they wouldn’t stop crying, even when she tried to soothe them.
“To think that the sound of babies crying would be heard in the Duke’s mansion,” James said, his face filled with emotion.
“Right? It’s something I never dreamed of either.”
Terrun chuckled as he signed the documents.
“James, let’s do the rest in the evening.”
Terrun pushed the documents aside.
Leah would be taking care of the children now, and he heard that it was good for the children’s emotional development for their father to be with them too. He hurried to the children’s room.
He went up to the second floor in one breath and entered the hallway, and the sound of crying became louder.
“Do they cry together when they cry because they’re twins?”
Terrun said, watching Leah fidget in front of the crying children.
“That’s right. They cry, laugh, and eat the same way.”
“Don’t cry! Ilena, Killian.”
Miraculously, the children stopped crying as if they understood their father’s voice.
Terrun’s heart swelled as he looked at the two children wiggling their hands at him.
The treasures that the woman he loved most in the world gave birth to. They could have been moderately cute.
“Are there any beings as lovely as our children in the world?”
“All children are lovely.”
“The problem is that they become more precious day by day.”
“That’s denial.”
“Denial?”
Terrun was lost in thought at Leah’s words.
He tried to recall how much affection his father had shown him.
All he could remember was his very strict appearance.
At the time, he was afraid of his unsociable father.
But now he can understand him. How hard it must have been to lose his wife. He was also a father for the first time.
Still, he plans to be a friendly father to Ilena and Killian.
“The Duke’s mansion will be filled with children.”
Terrun looked quite expectant.
That’s because Pauline gave birth a while ago. Now all that’s left is Channel. It was only a matter of time anyway.
“I was so surprised.”
“Why? Seeing Pauline and Tom’s child?”
“Yes, how can they only inherit their parents’ dominant genes?”
“I know.”
Terrun readily admitted it. He is usually a fool for his children, thinking that his children are the cutest and best, but he acknowledged Pauline’s child.
The couple’s appearance was very ordinary, but even as a baby, their features were perfect.
“Just you wait. Our Killian will be much cooler.”
Of course, Terrun’s admission didn’t last long. Still, it’s so good that they’re all about the same age.
He couldn’t help but smile as he imagined the children running around the vast Duke’s mansion in the future.
“Are the preparations for the 100th day party going well?”
“Of course. We should invite His Majesty and the Empress to this party.”
“We have to. They were so angry that we had a wedding just between us. We should let them off the hook this time.”
Terrun and Leah lost track of time talking about the children.
Soon the twins fell asleep, and Terrun took Leah’s hand and went outside. Now it’s time for the two of them to spend some time alone.
“Terrun, why won’t they sell the vacant lot at Lebon Station?”
Leah had tried several times to buy the vacant lot that was for sale, but the landowner had repeatedly rejected her, which was very frustrating.
“The landowner won’t even meet me.”
“Who is it?”
“All I know is that they’re from Lomerica.”
The two’s conversation suddenly turned into a serious business discussion.
Terrun was originally going to give it to Leah as a birth gift because she showed interest in the land.
But the landowner was so picky. They made various excuses and wouldn’t sell it to anyone easily.
“Grace, why do you need the land at Lebon Station? Can’t you use another place?”
Terrun asked with a puzzled expression.
