Revenge Comes with Interest, Episode 79: I Remember (79/200)
Episode 79: I Remember
October 18, 2023
Terran had decided to break off his engagement with Grace. He hadn’t told anyone yet because he needed to meet Aiden and sort out his thoughts first.
‘It’s heading towards a broken engagement, isn’t it?’
He felt like the world was eagerly anticipating him and Grace breaking up.
Flowers were delivered to the Duke’s mansion every day. Even foreign nobles were sending letters of courtship to Grace.
‘A man who genuinely cherishes Grace would be better than me, who has no feelings.’
The problem was that even though he resolved to let her go every day, he didn’t feel any better. Instead, he was consumed by depression and felt irritated by everything.
He would often get headaches as if his memories were returning, but it was only temporary.
“Ugh… !”
Terran suddenly felt dizzy, and his vision blurred. In that instant, he saw a woman leading a horse in a meadow.
‘Who is that?’
The woman, with flushed cheeks and gasping for breath as she walked towards him, closely resembled Grace.
‘No way, it can’t be.’
He was even seeing hallucinations now. He still couldn’t remember Grace, but he didn’t know where this memory came from.
Not only that, but she was waving at him and even shouting something.
“Duke Courtois! I got the horse.”
Her voice was very clear. Soon, a buzzing sound rang loudly in his ears as if he had been electrocuted.
“Gasp!”
Terran couldn’t hold on any longer.
“Your Grace!” James, startled, rushed over and supported him.
“Good heavens!”
Terran’s condition was serious. He was pale, sweating profusely, and in agony.
“I’ll call Doctor Wilson.”
James took Terran to his bedroom.
Doctor Wilson, who arrived urgently, gave Terran a sedative injection.
“He’s asleep.”
“Why isn’t he getting better? And his memories aren’t fully returning.”
“It seems he suffered a great deal of mental shock during this battle.”
Moreover, it would take time for the poison accumulated in his body to disappear completely. Indeed, Terran had been going to war since he was seventeen.
He had been constantly fighting since then, so his mental fatigue must be higher than anyone else’s.
“If only Lady Grace were here at a time like this.”
James was very sorry. He knew better than anyone how much the two cared for each other, so it was hard for him to accept this situation.
He felt that if Grace were by Terran’s side, he would shake off his pain and get back on his feet right away.
“For the time being, please ensure he gets enough sleep rather than engaging in activities.”
Doctor Wilson gave him a prescription and left the Duke’s mansion.
James nursed Terran for half a day.
Looking at him lying alone in bed, he felt that Terran absolutely needed Grace.
‘I must prevent the breakup.’
Someday his memories would return, and Terran would not be able to handle what he had done.
At that time, he would surely become a wreck. James entrusted Terran’s care to a servant and left the room.
“Did more flowers arrive?”
James asked as a servant carrying a flower basket entered the lobby.
“Yes, they’re for Lady Grace.”
“From now on, return the flowers when they arrive. And don’t accept any love letters for His Grace.”
“What should I say when I return them?”
“Tell them that the Lady and His Grace are not breaking up.”
“Understood.”
‘I have to fix the situation. I can’t just stand by and watch any longer. Even if I get cursed at now, Terran will obviously fall apart later, so how can I just stand by?’ In the end, it was a matter of time.
‘This must be a process for their love to become stronger.’
Love that has gone through trials does not break easily.

Leah spent time with Vitello every day.
He became more 적극적으로 [actively] in his courtship with each passing day, and Leah began to feel burdened by Vitello.
Even while talking to him, her mind was entirely focused on Terran.
‘Why isn’t there any news from the Duke’s mansion?’
Terran was in a lot of pain in her dream last night. So she felt anxious all day and found it hard to endure.
“Miss Vizak, please marry me.”
Vitello didn’t want to waste any more time and proposed to Leah directly.
Only then did Leah wake up from her thoughts.
‘What am I doing right now? Terran is in the Duke’s mansion. I need to go to his side right away.’
Last time, she was upset with Terran and vowed to do whatever he wanted, but now she didn’t want to do that.
“I’m sorry. I still think of Terran as my fiancé.”
Leah rejected Vitello’s proposal.
“But the Duke doesn’t remember Miss Vizak, does he?”
“That’s right.”
Leah fell into deep thought at Vitello’s words.
Terran still doesn’t remember her even after a long time. That’s why her heart is so heavy.
Yet, she waits every day for news from the Duke’s mansion. The good news that Terran’s memory has returned. But why should she just wait?
‘I remember Terran.’
Isn’t it okay if both of them don’t necessarily remember together? Just because Terran doesn’t remember doesn’t mean that the feelings built up over time disappear in an instant.
Even if he’s not the old Terran, the shattered memories and emotions can be rebuilt.
“It doesn’t matter if Terran doesn’t remember me. I remember everything. How much I loved him, how much I want him.”
Leah confessed her feelings to Vitello honestly.
Rejecting him vaguely would only be deceiving him.
“I see.”
Vitello felt her sincerity towards Terran in Leah’s answer.
If it were another woman, she wouldn’t have forgiven a man who didn’t remember her. Rather, she would have demanded a breakup first, saying that he had tarnished her honor.
However, she seemed to be waiting for Terran to come to her. Knowing that, he was so greedy for her that he couldn’t give up and courted her passionately. But…
“I understand Miss Vizak’s intentions.”
Vitello shook off his lingering feelings with a bright smile.
Leah finally realized that love is never easily given.
‘I won’t give up. I won’t just stand by and watch Terran forget me.’
She hadn’t made her best efforts for Terran yet. She had just waited for him to get better.
Vitello left Leah’s side without regret. After that, Leah had to meet Vivian.
“I heard about it from Vitello.”
“I’m sorry, Your Majesty.”
“No, you don’t have to be. I knew from the beginning that the two of you wouldn’t work out.”
It would be a lie if she didn’t covet a lady like Grace.
In one corner of her heart, she hoped that Vitello and Leah would be dramatically connected, but that was just a small selfish desire. Rather, she wanted to give Terran a drastic remedy.
Perhaps it was her own encouragement for Terran, who had lost many precious things since he was young, to find and desire his own things.
So she secretly informed her maid Mary of her plan, and she willingly agreed to be a catalyst between Terran and Grace.
Terran would be furious if he found out later.
“What are you going to do now?”
“I don’t think anything will change. Terran has lost his memory, but I remember everything. We can start over.”
Vivian smiled contentedly at Leah’s words. Perhaps even this tenacity was like her own.
The tenacity to not give up on the man she loves. She liked it very much.
“I received a call from the Duke’s mansion, and it seems Terran is not in good condition.”
“Yes?”
“It’s not to the point of dying. Well, he’s catching a cold for a great realization.”
Vivian spoke comfortably, but Leah’s heart ached.
Terran was sick; where, how, and how much did it hurt? Had he taken medicine? Would he look for her? All sorts of worries filled her head.
“I’m saying this out of concern, but wait until Terran comes to find Miss Grace.”
“Is there a special reason?”
Leah was curious about Vivian’s intentions.
She said that she wanted Terran to realize what he had lost and find the answer. Only then would he know how precious love is.
But Leah’s thoughts were a little different.
Shouldn’t they avoid judging him rashly without anyone being in Terran’s position?
Even she didn’t fully understand how difficult the things he had experienced were.
‘Love is something you do together.’
It’s not something that can be achieved by just one person realizing it. It was natural for one person to pull the other out when they were walking hand in hand and one person’s foot fell into the mud.
‘Terran’s foot has fallen into the mud right now.’
In that case, she could just help him. Couldn’t they realize it together?
In an instant, longing for Terran surged like a storm.
‘I’m worried, and I miss you. My Terran.’
Whenever she thought of Terran, her eyes stung, and her heart welled up.

While Luke was down in the territory, he told his parents about Chaner.
That he would get engaged to her. But his elderly parents couldn’t accept Chaner and pushed another fiancée at him.
“Luke, how long do we have to live? And that’s not love; it’s pity and sympathy.”
He couldn’t give his parents a definite ‘no’.
Because even he wasn’t sure yet. He just liked Chaner, who had come to save him.
So much so that her face was constantly hovering before his eyes.
‘Do I really love Chaner?’
Honestly, he didn’t know. He liked her so much, but it was difficult to confidently say that he could handle it for the rest of his life.
‘She couldn’t have come because she really loved me. Chaner is kind and innocent, so that’s why.’
Even if it wasn’t him, Chaner wasn’t the type of woman to just pass by someone in need.
He was wondering if he was misunderstanding Chaner’s immature feelings.
So, in the end, he had no choice but to agree to the engagement that his parents were recommending.
“I will get engaged.”
It was also true that it was difficult to break his parents’ firm will.
But as soon as he saw his fiancée, he missed Chaner terribly. He couldn’t understand what this psychology was.
‘I have no conscience.’
Even though she was a pretty and innocent-looking woman, he kept seeing Chaner overlapping her face.
Chaner’s face, crying as she saved him hanging from the tree, wouldn’t leave his mind.
‘No, it’s just a passing feeling. There’s no way that little kid knows what real love is.’
It was a feeling that would disappear as if nothing had happened over time.
He shouldn’t be swayed by it, even as an adult. He would only hurt Chaner for no reason. He could repay the debt he owed her in other ways.
‘I’m sorry, Chaner.’
