Rumble!
The two professors were angry and glaring at each other. They were ready to fight. But then, they noticed something was wrong and looked up.
The sky was turning black like ink.
“What is this…?”
“What’s going on?”
Both professors were experienced and knew that this strange thing happening was not normal.
The sky above the mountains had turned completely black. The sun was hidden. Everything around them became dark very quickly.
“Are the Do-cheol creatures doing this?!”
“Nonsense! Not even a hundred Do-cheol could do something like this!”
Do-cheol monsters can use dark magic and curses. But this black sky was too much, even for them.
How could Do-cheol cause such a strange thing to happen?
No matter how many Do-cheol there were, they could not darken the sky and hide the sun.
“Only very powerful wizards in the Empire could do this…”
“The Headmaster, maybe?”
“Why would Gonadaltez be here!? Does he have time for this!?”
Professor Bendozol scolded Professor Lightning Foot.
The Skull Headmaster was a very busy wizard, even during the holidays.
He spent his time dealing with new students and grants. He also worked to defend the Empire from threats in Einrogard. So, he had no reason to be in the Bitter Mountains.
There are only a few Do-cheol here!
“If it’s not the Headmaster, that’s even worse.”
“Hmm!”
Professor Bendozol agreed.
If it wasn’t the Skull Headmaster, it was a bigger problem.
There would be a reason for a powerful wizard to suddenly appear here. And it probably wasn’t good.
The black sky split open.
A voice echoed.
“Who is it? Who has disturbed me?”
The two professors looked pale when they heard the familiar voice in their minds.
It was Gonadaltez! He was coming this way!
And he was very angry!
“Is it my former student, my crazy twin, or some weak criminals? If you are criminals, I will give you a chance to die now. Kill yourself. If I catch you, you will be sorry.”
‘Who does he think did this first?’
Lee Han was shocked by the Skull Headmaster’s words before he even arrived.
He understood that someone might have attacked him. After all, Lee Han had used the emergency signal.
But to think his former students were the ones who did it…
‘No. That makes sense too.’
Hadn’t the Emperor said the same thing when Lee Han met him before?
The Skull Headmaster’s students usually tried to burn down the continent, burn themselves, or burn the Skull Headmaster.
The other students might still be angry. That was possible.
But what was he talking about with his crazy twin!?
‘What have you been doing?!’
“I gave you time!”
As he spoke, a black force, like liquid night, plunged from the ripped sky. It moved like lightning, but felt heavy and cold. It crashed down and formed a towering pillar of darkness, pulsing with raw power.
From that pillar, a familiar wizard appeared. It was the Skull Headmaster in human form.
“What… Wait a minute.”
The Skull Headmaster was about to shout in anger. But he stopped when he saw the professors and students.
Something was different than he thought.
“Professor Lightning Foot. Greetings.”
“G, greetings.”
“Professor Bendozol.”
“Greetings.”
“Well, well, well,” the Headmaster drawled, his voice echoing. “Professor Lightning Foot, and… Bendozol. Alive and kicking, I see. Disappointing, frankly. Especially you, Bendozol. Just be quiet.”
Professor Bendozol felt guilty about many things. He shut his mouth.
Not returning from seeing the unicorn before the new semester was a bad thing.
Professor Lightning Foot tried to stay calm. He spoke like someone who had seen everything.
“Headmaster, why are you here?”
“I called him.”
“……”
“……”
Professor Lightning Foot, the students, and even the unicorn stared at Lee Han in shock.
“You!!! You crazy person!!!”
Professor Bendozol shouted. He looked like he was about to faint.
It was surprising that Gonadaltez came when called. But it was just as crazy that this guy called him!
Is this guy insane?!
“There are people you can call and people you can’t! Are you out of your mind!?”
“You’re the one who’s out of his mind.”
“Wait a…”
The Skull Headmaster’s voice was cold. Professor Bendozol quickly tried to protect himself. He used eleven powerful spells to block the professor, creating a barrier.
But with one hand, the Skull Headmaster broke through the magic. With another, he threw Professor Bendozol into the pillar of black force.
Professor Bendozol screamed as he was pulled into the sky.
‘Incredible!’
Lee Han had just seen Professor Bendozol capture the Do-cheol. He knew the professor was a powerful wizard.
He was a flexible wizard who could use many kinds of magic. He could use transformation magic and magic to care for animals.
It was rare for a wizard to be good at many kinds of magic.
Also, he had traveled to remote places to care for animals. He must have had a lot of experience in magic combat.
But the Skull Headmaster defeated the professor in one hit and sent him to Einrogard. It was amazing.
“You look like you’re wondering why Professor Bendozol lost so easily.”
The Skull Headmaster saw the students looking shocked. He kindly began to explain.
Even if the students didn’t understand now, it might help them later.
“Wodanaz. Listen carefully. You need to understand this now.”
“Seriously…”
Lee Han was shocked that the Skull Headmaster was scolding only him.
“First, Professor Bendozol was careless. He should have attacked first when he saw me. It was a mistake to let a more powerful wizard attack first.”
He was weak and hurt. He waited for the Skull Headmaster to attack.
Professor Bendozol should have used his strongest magic to stop the Headmaster. Then, he should have run away fast. That was his only small chance to escape.
Gainando raised his hand and asked.
“Wouldn’t he be punished even more if he did that and got caught?”
“Of course! But someone who is running away doesn’t worry about what happens after they are caught. Remember this, everyone. Once you decide, don’t hesitate.”
Magic is affected by the wizard’s mind.
If you decide to run away, you must try your best. If you are afraid of the results, it won’t work.
“I, I see…! That’s why I couldn’t escape Einrogard…”
The Skull Headmaster hung Gainando upside down. Gainando was trying to understand. The Skull Headmaster continued.
“Second, the magic he used was weak. How many spells did Professor Bendozol use?”
Gainando was upside down. He looked confused.
“Did Professor Bendozol even use any spells?”
“Anyone else?”
The Skull Headmaster also gagged Gainando. The students talked to each other.
“Was it six?”
“I thought it was five.”
“Wodanaz. You answer.”
“I saw eleven…”
“!?”
The friends were shocked. They had seen it together, but they didn’t notice.
“Well done. Don’t believe everything you see. Would you show the magic that protects you as it is?”
Attacking was important, but defense needed just as much skill.
Good wizards did not show simple defensive magic. They used many spells, twisting them to hide their true nature.
It was a big advantage if the defensive magic’s true nature was unknown.
The Headmaster quickly sent magic at each of the eleven spells. He broke through them, understood how they worked, and then used ‘reverse magic’ to destroy them all at once.
But if he made a small mistake, or if there was more magic, it would have taken more time.
Then Professor Bendozol would have reacted quickly. He would have made his defensive magic stronger and tried to escape.
It looked like the Skull Headmaster easily defeated him in one hit. But it was a dangerous battle of skill.
“The last reason is that I am using several powerful ancient spells.”
The Skull Headmaster pointed to the pillar of black force behind him. It was connected to the sky.
It was a strange and powerful magic that he didn’t usually show. Lee Han asked, confused.
“Why did you use them?”
“You called me because you were in danger!”
Whack!
The Skull Headmaster used telekinesis to take Lee Han’s staff and hit him with it.
Lee Han felt sorry because the Headmaster seemed to like the magic a lot.
“I, I’m sorry.”
“So why did you call me? I have a guess, but…”
“The professors were fighting…”
“I see.”
The Skull Headmaster clicked his tongue and looked at Professor Lightning Foot.
Professor Bendozol and Professor Lightning Foot were growling at each other. So, it made sense that the students were nervous.
“…There was also a reward for them, so I called.”
“…You didn’t call just because of the reward, did you?”
“I definitely didn’t call just for that.”
“Hmph.”
The Skull Headmaster looked suspicious and shrugged.
“In the future, only call when it’s truly dangerous. Do you know the story of the Shepherd Giant?”
“I don’t know it well. What is it?”
“Once upon a time, a giant was taking care of Mountain-Destroying Sheep. He was bored and called other giants. He lied and said a wolf had appeared.”
“……”
“…?”
The students didn’t understand and asked.
“What are Mountain-Destroying Sheep?”
“Can a wolf catch Mountain-Destroying Sheep?”
“Be quiet. The giants liked catching wolves, so he called them. They like chasing wolves. Anyway, if you keep lying, no one will believe you later.”
“But if a wolf appears…”
“What are Mountain-Destroying Sheep?”
“Is there such a thing as a Shepherd Giant?”
The Skull Headmaster shivered as the students bothered him.
“Quiet! I should finish the job while I’m here. Are the Do-cheol creatures wandering around?”
“Yes. They are moving in groups, which is strange…”
“It seems their leader has appeared. Sometimes when that creature is born, other Do-cheol gather under it. They are selfish, but they work together when there is a leader.”
“I have never seen one before.”
“It’s rare. I can’t even remember when I last saw one,” said Professor Lightning Foot.
The Skull Headmaster spoke.
“Evil creatures, come before me!”
The pillar of black force pulsed. The magic spread from the dark sky to the mountains.
Then, the Do-cheol in the Bitter Mountains floated into the air. They were dragged before the Skull Headmaster.
The Do-cheol leader cried out. It tried to kill the Skull Headmaster. Dark magic swirled.
Thwack!
With one hand, the Skull Headmaster swept away the Do-cheol. He looked at the next problem.
“A unicorn?”
“It’s hurt. Is there a safe place to heal it?”
“Einrogard would be good, I think.”
“!”
Lee Han and the unicorn looked happy.
There were few places as safe as the archmage’s territory.
But the Skull Headmaster looked worried.
“There’s a problem.”
“What problem?”
“If I let it stay in Einrogard, Professor Bendozol will bother me, won’t he?”
Lee Han thought the Skull Headmaster was joking.
But the unicorn seemed to be thinking about it.
