This guard was from Rascal. Even though he heard Count Pablo shouting orders as the castle gate crashed down and his friends died, he ran away.
Not everyone in the Chronos Empire was brave. They were just people, so some, like this guard, would always run when they were scared.
‘Roman Dmitry is a devil,’ he thought. ‘If this keeps going, we will all die.’ Lately, scary stories about Roman Dmitry were spreading.
People said that everywhere he fought was turned to black, burnt ground. This showed that the stories about him were not just legends. Seeing his friends killed right in front of him filled him with fear.
Running away was a terrible crime in the Empire. If caught, his whole family could be killed. But as he saw Rascal catching fire, he just had to run. He had to get to the ‘secret passage’.
He only wanted to live. If all of Rascal burned, it would be too late.
This small hole under the castle gate was his only way out of this nightmare. He crawled on his hands and knees, like an animal. Mud covered him, but finally, he pushed his head out of the hole. He thought he was safe.
That sound was his last moment. As soon as his head popped out, a sword cut it off. The guard’s head, with a look of hope still on his face, was the only part of him to escape the castle.
Chris looked down at the body. His face was cold and hard.
Inside Rascal, a huge battle was happening. But many soldiers were trying to sneak away like this guard.
“Burn all the secret passages we found,” Chris ordered. “No one leaves this place alive, except for Lord Dmitry.”
“Yes, sir,” someone replied.
He threw a burning torch into the passage. Oil had been poured there earlier, so the fire exploded quickly. Flames raced through the passage, starting with the dead body.
Chris had blocked their escape completely. This was all planned with Roman Dmitry. While Dmitry kept the enemy busy, Chris took control of the castle gate and set the fires. Chris’s job was to make sure no one escaped through the secret ways.
Chris stepped back from the fire. As he watched Rascal burn, he remembered talking to Roman Dmitry.
“We will give them back the pain Dmitry felt, just like they hurt us,” Dmitry had said.
At that time, Chris’s men were surprised. They had done many dangerous things with Roman Dmitry, but going deep into Chronos to get revenge seemed like something else entirely. But no one argued.
Even if it seemed impossible, they were ready to die if Roman Dmitry told them to. That was just how they were.
And now, everything was happening as planned. Roman Dmitry had tricked 10,000 soldiers to come here alone. While the enemy was not expecting it, Rascal was burning.
Chris took out his magic communicator.
“Plan one is done,” he said into it. “Squads one to eight, you see where the enemy is? Start plan two now. Remember, be sneaky and quiet. If even one person sees you, stop plan two right away.”
[Message received.] [Message received.] … Messages kept coming in.
Chris put down the communicator and just watched Rascal burn. Now, it was Roman Dmitry’s turn.
Count Pablo’s face went stiff when Bento told him the news.
“……What?” he whispered.
“The way out is blocked. We are trapped. Roman Dmitry tricked us. He wants to trap all 10,000 of us in this fire.”
“What are you talking about?!” Pablo shouted. His mind felt frozen. He had been in charge, thinking he would soon catch Roman Dmitry. But Bento’s words hit him like a hammer. He felt hopeless.
If Bento was right, all 10,000 soldiers could die in the fire without even fighting. Pablo could not let that happen. Knowing what Dmitry was planning changed everything.
“Are there any other ways out?” he asked quickly.
“No normal ways,” Bento said. “But the north gate wall is weaker than the others. We could use magic to break it down and escape. But we have to be fast. If Rascal is completely on fire, no one will get out, no matter what.”
“I understand,” Pablo said. “Forget about Roman Dmitry for now. Tell everyone to retreat!”
“Yes, sir,” Bento replied.
The situation was different now. Heat was coming from everywhere. Count Pablo clenched his teeth. He had to retreat.
*‘Roman Dmitry,’* he thought. *‘He is truly scary.’* Dmitry’s plan was unbelievable. Even attacking Rascal in the first place was a shock. But Dmitry had planned to trap 10,000 soldiers with just a few men.
Pablo now understood why the Hector Kingdom had lost even when they were winning. No normal book about war would teach such crazy plans. Roman Dmitry was a monster. The Chronos Empire had to stop him, no matter what it took.
“Everyone, retreat!” Pablo yelled. “We are going out through the north gate!” He gave the order. Bento and the Seven Knights ran ahead, leading the way. Everyone else followed, desperate to escape.
But then, suddenly, people stopped moving. The path was wide, but it was packed with soldiers. Count Pablo shouted and pushed his way through the crowd.
“Move! Get out of my way!”
“It’s Count Pablo! Let him through!” Even in the chaos, soldiers made space for him. Finally, he could see ahead. Count Pablo could not believe his eyes.
“Roman Dmitry…!” There he was. Standing in the flames, blocking the north gate.
It was unbelievable. Thousands of soldiers stopped by just one man. Count Pablo yelled, his voice shaking.
“Roman Dmitry! How long will you keep running like a coward? If you are really a warrior, fight me fairly! Stop using these sneaky tricks! The Chronos Empire is not afraid of you!”
Even as he shouted, Pablo knew Dmitry would not answer. It was too obvious. Dmitry would not fight them head-on. If they moved forward, Dmitry would just vanish into the flames. Pablo had heard terrible stories about Roman Dmitry from Valhalla. So many soldiers had died by his sword on the way to Dmitry. Looking at the faces of those dead men, Pablo knew Dmitry was not just anyone. He was something much more dangerous.
There were ten thousand soldiers. This many men meant the main army would arrive soon if they were slowed down even a little. Even in this big battle on Cronos, he looked calm as he faced Roman Dmitry. But then…
Instead of running away, Roman Dmitry walked right out of the fire. Flames still danced around him, but he seemed untouched.
“Do you really think this fire can stop me?” he asked.
“Of course!” Count Pablo shouted back. “Do you think I’m stupid? I know what you’re doing! You want to trap my soldiers in this fire to buy time. But it won’t work! I am Count Pablo, and I won’t be tricked by your plan!”
Roman Dmitry just said, “If you believe that…” Then, with a *whoosh* sound, like air rushing in, the crackling flames began to move back. Before, the fire was so hot and strong that no one could get close. But now, because of Roman Dmitry’s will, the fire pulled back, making a wide path. Thousands of soldiers could now charge forward easily.
The Fire Demon’s power, which he got from a secret place under the ground, was huge. Roman Dmitry could control fire completely. From the moment the fire started, all the flames around listened to Roman Dmitry.
Ten thousand soldiers were in front of him. Roman Dmitry knew a quick way to defeat them. He could use the Fire Demon’s power to make a huge explosion. Anyone still in the flames would be burned to nothing. But… that wasn’t enough. For Roman Dmitry, revenge wasn’t just about winning. It had to be done in the right way.
Roman Dmitry spoke, his voice calm even in the chaos. “I make you a promise,” he said clearly, so everyone could hear. “If you can beat me, I will let you live and escape the fire.”
It was a very arrogant thing to say, especially when he was facing so many enemies. Count Pablo was furious at this insulting promise. His face turned red with anger.
“You disrespectful fool!” he roared. His voice was so loud it shook the air. “Soldiers of Cronos! Attack Roman Dmitry! Now!”
The battle began. It was an amazing, terrible sight. The soldiers, like a huge wave, rushed towards Roman Dmitry. He didn’t wait. He charged right into them. *CLASH!* Swords hit swords. *BOOM!* The ground shook with the force of the fight.
“Kill him now!” someone yelled.
“Die!” screamed another. You could feel the hate and the wish to kill in the air.
Leading the charge were powerful knights from the 7th Knights Order. They used their special power, called ‘aura,’ making their swords glow brightly. This aura exploded outwards, so bright it lit up everything around them. It looked like it would swallow Roman Dmitry whole in a second. The soldiers felt strong and brave. There were so many of them! They were sure they would win this battle for the Cronos Empire.
Then, in a flash, Roman Dmitry moved. He used a skill called ‘First Form of the Demonic Heavenly Sword Technique’. *WHAM!* A huge crash like thunder. *BOOM! BOOM!* The ground seemed to shake again and again. Suddenly, the soldiers’ faces changed. They looked completely shocked. When Roman Dmitry hit the front line of soldiers, the knights of the 7th Knights Order were just… gone. Destroyed in an instant.
No one could believe their eyes. The bright aura that had just exploded disappeared completely. Then, through the cloud of dust and smoke, Roman Dmitry walked out. It was then that the soldiers truly understood what Roman Dmitry was. He was not just a strong fighter. He was like a monster. They remembered how he had easily beaten Barbosa, their strongest warrior. Now they knew, even with ten thousand soldiers, many of them would die to defeat this man.
*FLASH!* A streak of light. *RUMBLE!* The ground shook again. Roman Dmitry moved so fast, it was impossible to see him clearly. He rushed into the soldiers, cutting them down one after another. In moments, blood was flying everywhere in the crowded space.
Swords and spears came at Roman Dmitry from every side. Soldiers tried to hit his head, his body, his legs, attacking again and again. But it was like Roman Dmitry saw time moving slower than everyone else. He dodged every attack, just barely missing each weapon.
*Swoosh.* The sound of a passing blade. A single hair floated down from the knight’s head. Then, the knight looked into Roman Dmitry’s eyes. They were cold and sharp. In that moment, the knight felt a cold fear in his heart. He knew, without a doubt, he was about to die.
*THUD.* The sound of a body falling. “Ugh…” the knight gasped, blood coming out of his mouth. Roman Dmitry grabbed the knight’s hair, pulled him close, and with a quick move, stabbed him in the back. Then, he threw the body to the ground like it was nothing, like throwing away rubbish.
The soldiers watched everything, their eyes wide with shock. They would never forget what they were seeing. There were so many of them, a huge army! But they were falling down, one after another, like they were hitting an invisible wall. The soldiers felt dizzy and confused. Their hearts beat fast with fear and excitement. It was supposed to be ten thousand soldiers hunting just one man. But it looked like one wild, unstoppable fighter was killing thousands of them.
*CRASH!* Another huge sound. *BOOM!* The ground shook again. Soldiers were thrown backwards by the force. Every time Roman Dmitry used his Demonic Heavenly Sword Technique, people who looked like normal men just moments before were ripped to pieces in a terrible way.
Now, the soldiers were truly afraid. At first, they had been brave, thinking their large numbers would protect them. But after seeing more than a thousand of their friends die, they couldn’t just run forward without thinking. Roman Dmitry didn’t look tired or hurt at all. He seemed as strong as when the fight began. They had thought ten thousand soldiers meant they would easily win. But now, they wondered how many more of them would have to die just to get close to him.
In the middle of all this chaos, Vento, one of the strongest knights, charged forward. His face was twisted with rage.
“Die!” he screamed.
*RUMBLE!* A huge wave of power burst out from him. This was the aura of a ‘5-star’ warrior, a very high level of power. Vento put every bit of his strength into his attack on Roman Dmitry.
Vento thought he could win. He believed that if he could just hurt Roman Dmitry even a little bit, the other soldiers would swarm him like hungry animals and tear him apart. Vento knew Roman Dmitry was strong, very strong. But he also thought it was impossible for one man to beat so many soldiers in Cronos.
The other knights from the 7th Knights Order also joined in, giving all their power. They used their special, natural talents, making their aura even stronger. But this was dangerous. It was like burning their own life energy to get more power, and it would hurt them in the end.
But then… *SPLATTER!* Blood and pieces flew everywhere. In a blink, Vento and the other knights were destroyed. Just like the normal soldiers, they were defeated with a single, easy attack.
Vento felt himself losing consciousness. This couldn’t be happening. It was crazy! No one could fight like this, it was impossible!
“Wait…” Even as his mind went dark, Vento suddenly understood. At first, he had thought Roman Dmitry just wanted to use the fire to trap Rascal’s soldiers. But now, after fighting him, Vento knew he was wrong. He had been stupid to think that.
Roman Dmitry hadn’t planned to just use fire from the beginning. Vento now knew this for sure. The fire was just there to stop them from running away. Roman Dmitry’s real plan was much bigger and much more terrifying. He wanted to defeat all ten thousand soldiers himself, with his own hands.
