The air was thick with tension. Then, it began.
The counterattack began with the elves.
They stepped forward and unleashed a volley of arrows.
Arrows filled the sky like a dark cloud.
The Chronos Empire army couldn’t react in time.
Already in a chaotic situation from the attack on Dmitry Castle, they couldn’t form a perfect shield formation to block the arrows.
“Kraak!”
“Ack!”
Screams echoed from all directions.
The elves’ arrows pierced through solid armor in an instant, and soldiers with their foreheads pierced couldn’t even scream as they tumbled to the ground.
The arrow attacks continued relentlessly.
Judging that the damage would be immense if they stayed like this, some of the Chronos Empire army changed direction, and only then did the soldiers of the Northeast Union and the Luna Kingdom step forward.
“All troops, advance!”
“Attack!”
“Waaaaaah!”
It was truly a spectacle.
The moment the Dmitry Allied Forces and the Chronos Empire army collided, a bloody battle erupted.
“Kraak.”
“Die!”
The two armies became entangled.
If a soldier of the Allied Forces beheaded a soldier of the Empire, the Allied soldier’s head would be blown away in return.
It was a fight to the death.
In an instant, the surroundings were soaked with corpses and blood, and the soldiers on both sides trampled through the blood-soaked puddles as if they couldn’t retreat, rushing towards each other.
Among them, the demi-humans of Arcadia fought with incredible strength, even more fiercely than the humans.
“Kyaaak!”
It was a werewolf.
With white fur tinged with gray, the werewolf tore at the necks of the Empire soldiers blocking its path. Blood splattered along with the roughly torn flesh.
The werewolf completely cut off the opponent’s breath, then plunged into the space teeming with Empire soldiers, clawing wildly in all directions.
And following him.
A yeti trampled the Empire soldiers with its massive feet.
They had faced the crisis of extinction, with only a few surviving, and they expressed their anger at the Chronos Empire, which had driven them to the brink. The yeti used a huge club befitting its size.
When it swung it with all its might, dozens of Empire soldiers were swept away at once, creating a gruesome scene as if a drum had burst.
However, the demi-humans were not invincible.
Seeing the Empire’s knights using aura to deal with the demi-humans one by one, the aura swordsmen of the Luna Kingdom couldn’t stand still.
“Follow me!”
Cayden and Gyro were aura swordsmen representing Luna. They rushed forward and cut down the Empire soldiers at the vanguard. The swordsmen of the Northeast Union also lent their strength, but Cayden and Gyro showed a particularly striking presence.
The crisis of Arcadia. While having a hard time, they had developed mentally and physically, and Roman Dmitry’s teachings led them to a new world.
Gyro’s sword became a blur of silver light, each strike fueled by fierce gratitude. His eyes burned with a desperate loyalty as he cut down every enemy in his path, a whirlwind of motion and fury.
“This is an opportunity to repay Roman Dmitry for his grace! Let the Arcadia Continent, the Luna Kingdom, prove to the heinous forces of evil that they are beings who know gratitude! Today, we will die for Dmitry!”
He fought like a madman.
The crisis of Arcadia and Luna. Roman Dmitry was a hero who saved them.
For the benefactor of their lives, those who followed Gyro threw their lives away like nothing.
While the battle raged outside the walls…
The gate of the inner castle opened.
The inner castle’s forces, led by Fernando, appeared and showed murderous intent upon discovering the shadows rampaging in the city.
“Clean up the city. Deal with all the beings that threaten the people, and we will head to the outer castle.”
“Understood.”
The battle began.
Fernando’s personal guard was carefully selected from elite soldiers, and they moved quickly, helping the Byeoldongdae and Haomun who were dealing with the shadows.
The shadows had no choice but to be helpless.
With their leader already dead due to the efforts of Lucas and McBurney, and outnumbered, a one-sided massacre took place.
The shadows scattered into smoke.
Fernando’s sword skills had become very powerful.
Once ridiculed as the 30th-ranked gatekeeper, he grew into a completely different being by following Roman Dmitry.
The fight with Sven. Experiencing the tragic situation where Henderson died and Kevin was seriously injured that day, Fernando constantly pushed himself to avoid repeating the pain of the past.
As a result, he made considerable progress.
Every time Fernando’s sword flashed, the shadows were helplessly torn to pieces.
“Krrr.”
“Kraaah!”
Wherever they met, he slaughtered the shadows.
In a situation where Fernando was advancing fiercely, the one following him was an unexpected figure.
It was Romero Dmitry.
The King of Dmitry also took up arms.
Wielding a huge axe befitting his size, he couldn’t use mana, but he borrowed the power of the artifact to cut off the shadows’ breath.
“Die!”
People often think of the king as a flower in a greenhouse.
A noble being who only knows how to give orders and can’t even wield a sword properly was not suitable for the battlefield.
But the foundation of the King of Dmitry was different.
He was familiar with fighting, having wandered around iron mines and blacksmiths since he was young, and his muscular body showed superhuman strength that surpassed ordinary people.
He just couldn’t use aura.
He was also a being who had experienced the ups and downs of life.
Like the King of Dmitry, the blacksmiths of the smithy also participated in the battle, and they wielded their weapons without regard for the shadows’ attacks.
Of course, there were many deaths.
There was no such thing as a safe fight in the world, but the blacksmiths also did not want Dmitry to collapse like this.
It was truly a spectacle.
The King of Dmitry, wearing a helmet instead of a crown and wielding an axe, and Fernando protecting him, swept through the city.
They headed to the outer castle while dealing with the remaining shadows, and the soldiers of Dmitry, including the Byeoldongdae, discovered the sight.
“…W, what is this.”
“The soldiers of the inner castle have opened the gate and come out.”
“His Majesty the King of Dmitry is fighting himself!”
They were embarrassed.
It was different from the plan.
The sight of the personal guard, who was supposed to be safely protecting the king in the inner castle, participating in the battle with the King of Dmitry caused a sense of embarrassment.
But it soon presented a hot feeling.
At the sight of the King of Dmitry sharing life and death with the soldiers, one soldier shouted without realizing it.
His Majesty the King has taken up arms for us!”
Protect His Majesty!”
Fight for His Majesty!”
We can win the war!”
“For His Majesty the King!”
“For Dmitry!”
With renewed strength, they charged forward, ready to fight to the end.
A wave of hope went through the crowd. People looked up quickly. They saw it – reinforcements had arrived! King Dimitri had made a brave choice. Everyone believed Dimitri would win now. They showed the enemy they would not give up. The feeling of the war changed in that moment. Before, it looked like they would lose, but now, everything was different.
Suddenly, everything started going wrong for Mystic. At first, he was fighting hard, using his magic to blast Dimitri’s soldiers. But little by little, he saw he was losing.
“Damn Dimitri!” he cursed. He was stunned. This plan was supposed to be perfect! Roman Dimitri was gone, and they had Ares, a super weapon. Defeating Dimitri should have been easy. But nothing was working! Ares was found out before he could even start his plan. Dimitri’s swordsmen were so strong, Ares couldn’t even fight properly.
And that wasn’t all. Shadows had gotten inside the castle. The guards outside didn’t even notice, and then Mystic heard they were all dead. He was furious. Everything was falling apart. Mystic had planned this carefully because he lost before. But now, with Dimitri getting help and attacking so strongly, it was a disaster.
Soon, he would lose thousands of soldiers. Mystic didn’t care much about them, but he was very worried about Aleksandr getting angry.
‘If I fail again, Aleksandr will be so mad!’ Mystic felt terrible. He had lost too many times. He knew he would be blamed. He had to save some soldiers, so he could try to explain later.
“Dimitri!” Mystic yelled, his teeth clenched. “Don’t think you’ve won everything! This is just one fight. I’m leaving now, but I’ll be back! And when I come back, I will kill you all!”
He told his soldiers, “Retreat! We are leaving now to get ready for the next fight!”
The sun went down. The enemy was running away. Jonathan, the Knights’ commander, watched the Chronos Empire soldiers run. He was so angry, a vein stood out on his neck.
“Kill them!” he roared. “Kill every last one!” This war wasn’t just about winning this one fight. The Kingdom Alliance was being attacked everywhere. They needed a real victory to show everyone they could win.
Dimitri’s soldiers chased after them, running out of the castle gates, stabbing the enemy soldiers as they ran. But they couldn’t go too far. Finally, Dimitri’s soldiers stopped and cheered as they watched the enemy disappear.
“Waaah!”
“We won!”
“We beat Chronos!” They had gotten over a big problem. Joy filled them. The Chronos Empire had planned this attack well, but Dimitri was ready too. They had won, even without Roman Dimitri.
But they couldn’t enjoy the victory for long. King Dimitri called all the leaders to a meeting right away. They came in, tired and dirty from the fight. Everyone was there.
King Dimitri spoke. “The war is not over,” he said seriously. “The Chronos Empire ran away, but they will be back. What do you think? Should we fix the walls and wait for them to attack again, or should we chase them now and finish them?” King Dimitri, the leader, looked at the situation coldly. His wound hurt, but he didn’t show it. He looked at all his leaders.
Then, Flora Lawrence stepped forward.
“Can I speak?”
“Yes,” Dimitri said.
“The Chronos Empire used a strange power to move through space for this attack,” Flora said. “I don’t think they can do it forever. If they could move thousands of soldiers easily, they would have done it when they were running away just now. Or they would have brought more soldiers to win. But they didn’t. They only moved a few shadows inside our castle. I think their power is limited.”
It was just her idea, but Flora was sure. She knew it was dangerous to rush into things, but sometimes you had to be brave to really win. She trusted what she had learned. Experience was the best guide.
“We must send soldiers after them tomorrow at sunrise,” she said. “The Kingdom Alliance needs more than just a small win. We need to destroy the enemy completely and show everyone that we can win this war.”
Everyone in the room became quiet, agreeing with her. This was Dimitri’s war now, without Roman Dimitri. But Dimitri was leading just like Roman Dimitri would have.
King Dimitri nodded. “I agree with Flora,” he said. “We will win this war and bring peace back to our land. Tell the soldiers to rest and get healed tonight. As soon as the sun comes up, we will punish the rest of Chronos.” Dimitri and his people were ready to fight hard.
Flora Lawrence was right. Chronos had made a camp nearby. Mystic had ordered them to run away when things got bad, but he was already planning to attack again. ‘I need to get my power back,’ he thought. ‘If I can open the Demon World gate one more time, I can destroy those Dimitri pests. Just wait, Mystic. I can’t let Aleksandr down again.’ He was going to finish this war, no matter what.
Mystic told his soldiers to rest, knowing this wasn’t over. But Ares was not with the others. Mystic was sure Dimitri wouldn’t dare to chase them. But Ares knew Dimitri better. Even without Roman Dimitri, Dimitri was dangerous. Ares knew the main group wasn’t safe here. So, he left them.
While Mystic was trying to buy time, Ares had his own plan. ‘Dimitri will be celebrating now,’ Ares thought. ‘They’ll send soldiers after us. That’s my chance to sneak back into Dimitri’s castle. I will kill King Dimitri this time. I will show them what happens when you fight against the Chronos Empire.’
He remembered fighting on the wall and having to jump to escape. He was angry. He hated that he hadn’t done more, that Chronos had to run away. Ares had chosen Aleksandr. He had to prove he was right. He had to win this war.
He hid in the bushes, keeping warm and saving his energy. Finally, morning came. Ares watched and saw Dimitri’s soldiers leave the castle to chase after them. Ares moved quickly, going around them. But just as he got close to Dimitri Castle, someone stepped out of the bushes in front of him.
“Finally,” Kevin said, his face twisted with hate. “We meet.”
