The past 20 years.
How did the Maron Order become the world’s leading religion?
Its beginnings were humble.
Sebastian, using the scriptures as his guide, declared that Maron Dimitri’s arrival would save the world. But most people thought this was nonsense.
This was understandable. People didn’t understand the Great Cataclysm yet. So, believing in someone who might not even exist didn’t make sense to them.
Everyone ignored him.
People called Sebastian crazy. Others said he was a bad trickster trying to use people’s confusion to his advantage.
Frustration burned in Sebastian’s chest.
“Why can’t they see the truth?” he wondered.
Since people kept rejecting him, Sebastian changed his approach.
“The scriptures say this: Dimitri’s Flash, Chris; Dimitri’s Fiend, Kevin; Felix, the Phoenix of the Magic Tower; Edwin Hector, the Star of Hector, and so on. All the heroes of the Dimitri Empire became so skilled because of Maron Dimitri’s grace. Do you think ordinary humans can do this? Kevin, a boy from the slums, became a powerful swordsman who threatened Chris.”
He read from the book.
But no one seemed to care.
Some of Dimitri’s followers, like Chris, were real. But people thought Sebastian was just writing a story based on what they already knew.
Sebastian believed Dimitri’s followers were connected to past lives. He spoke about the figures who would appear in the future, hoping to see them grow, like seeds sprouting.
Not long after…
The world changed completely.
As the successors appeared one after another, Sebastian’s words were proven true.
The situation changed.
People praised Sebastian.
The ‘Emperor’ had always been a mystery. But Sebastian said Maron Dimitri was the most important part of Dimitri’s power.
In a time of chaos, people needed hope. Sebastian’s words were like rain during a drought. People came from everywhere, bowing their heads and joining the Maron Order.
This was the moment the Maron Order began to grow quickly.
The Maron Order grew fast. It gained people’s trust by creating a group to study the Great Cataclysm. This happened all over the world.
Everyone, no matter who they were, followed the Maron Order. If Sebastian had known the exact date of Maron Dimitri’s arrival, he would have had even more power.
Some people started to doubt.
Maron Dimitri had promised to save humanity during the Great Cataclysms, but he never appeared. People’s excitement died down.
They needed to be saved. If Sebastian was right, when would Maron Dimitri come, and where was he?
He needed to offer real hope. But Sebastian didn’t want to lie or exaggerate. He only used the scriptures.
Nothing was certain.
From then on, the Maron Order was only for those who believed. Those who didn’t believe rejected it completely.
It’s said that one in five Americans is a member of the Maron Order.
That’s a lot of people, but it wasn’t as great as it had been in the beginning.
His existence…
The date of his arrival…
This was Sebastian’s job.
He knew the name, but everything else was a mystery. Sebastian traveled the world, looking for anyone with the last name Dimitri.
Maron Dimitri, Jonathan Dimitri, Bellamy Dimitri, Roman Dimitri, Joseph Dimitri, and so on. Many Dimitris appeared.
As the name Dimitri became important, people all over the world started using it.
But they were all lying.
They were just pretending. As time passed, Sebastian got used to these small lies.
To find the real Dimitri, they made it so people who had used the name Dimitri before would change their names. This stopped a lot of the fake Dimitris.
Using the name Dimitri would get too much attention. So, unless they were really trying to trick people, they wouldn’t use the ‘Dimitri’ name.
Then one day…
Sebastian realized something.
If he couldn’t find Maron Dimitri, he needed to think about something in the scriptures.
[If he exists in that world. Kneel down and bow your head.]
Existence…
It wasn’t certain.
So…
Sebastian thought that Maron Dimitri might not exist in this world.
This was a heavy thought.
He does not exist in this world.
If that was true, humanity’s problems couldn’t be solved. So, Sebastian opened the scriptures and thought hard for days.
The scriptures exist.
This is God’s will.
He believed he was meant to save humanity. The heavy burden of mankind was now on Sebastian’s shoulders, even though he was just a linguist.
He couldn’t give up. He couldn’t ruin their chance to solve the problem, especially after coming so far.
At that time…
A magician who followed the Maron Order said.
“Your Holiness, I know magic that can move someone to where I am. If we can find ‘his belongings,’ we can bring him into this world.”
Sebastian’s mind sparked with an idea.
It was like a ray of light from the sky.
Of course, it wasn’t perfect.
If Maron Dimitri didn’t exist in this world, how could they find his belongings and bring him in? It didn’t make sense. But Sebastian had the scriptures.
Henry Albert, who wrote the scriptures, lived at the same time as Maron Dimitri.
‘The scriptures talk about another world. If we bring people from the Salamander Continent into this world, we can find Maron Dimitri’s belongings through them. That’s it! The scriptures themselves are the way to solve the problem.’
From that time 10 years ago…
The Maron Order studied dimensional 이동 magic (Dimensional Movement Magic).
They needed to develop magic to summon Henry Albert, as they couldn’t summon beings from other dimensions just by having their belongings.
Sebastian didn’t doubt any of this.
From the moment he found the scriptures to the creation of the Maron Order, he believed that every thought he had was God’s will.
That day…
Sebastian told his followers.
“Believe in God’s will. All coincidences come from him. From the moment we got the scriptures, we started on the path to save mankind. The time is coming soon. When we face the world he lived in, we will bring him here.”
He promised himself.
He would make the advent a success.
This world…
He would save all of mankind.
And currently…
Sebastian carefully turned the pages of the scriptures.
When worries filled his mind, Sebastian always turned to the Bible. He had read it again and again, but the words still calmed him.
Roman Dimitri.
Maron Dimitri.
The names were almost the same, like a puzzle.
Many fake people said they were Dimitri. Because of them, Sebastian might have doubted Roman Dimitri was real. But not anymore. Sebastian believed the figure in the Bible was from another world. So, even though Roman Dimitri did amazing, even shocking things, and even though his actions were like the figure in the Bible, Sebastian still didn’t see the truth.
Sebastian had found the Bible thirty years ago. That long time made it hard for him to see clearly. It was bad for everyone. He thought about the wizard who fixed the Bible. If only the wizard was a little more skilled, the letters in the Bible might have spelled ROMAN.
Sebastian looked at the Bible and said, “For thirty years, I have believed in you. In my mind, you are perfect. You rule the world, with dark hair blowing in the wind. When you come to this world, people will give you all their problems. We will have perfect peace, like the world Henry Albert, who wrote the Bible, lived in.”
He remembered that day. He thought about it again and again. Sometimes, he felt the being was very close. Other times, the feeling became weak. Sebastian had lived like this for thirty years, leading many followers. He hid his sadness deep inside.
“I am your servant. I will not let anyone else take your place. Even the Emperor in China, I will weaken him from inside and bring him down. When you come to this world, it will all be yours. So, you must not fail me. Maron, you must be strong enough to beat the strongest one.”
This was crazy. Sebastian’s old face showed how strongly he wanted this being to come. “This is all I want,” he whispered. Like ten years ago, he made a promise. He would make sure the being came to this world. Anyone who tried to stop it, he would destroy them. No matter who they were. Even the Emperor of China. Even Roman Dimitri, who was strong enough to kill a powerful monster in one hit. Nothing would stop the being from coming.
A few days later, there was a meeting in the United States. Leaders from many countries came. They were going to talk about South Korea changing its name and whether Roman Dimitri had broken international rules.
The President of Russia, Markov, spoke. “I don’t understand this. Why are we even talking about whether to punish Roman Dimitri? He broke international rules, that’s clear. He took over a country unfairly and made himself Emperor. We shouldn’t be asking if he’s wrong, but how much we should punish him for breaking the rules.”
Russia was a very powerful country. Markov was not happy with what Roman Dimitri had done. He spoke honestly at the meeting.
The US President, John Harrison, said, “I understand what President Markov is saying. But it’s not that simple. South Korea was in a lot of trouble because of President Kim Jung-tae. He was a dictator. Most local leaders supported Roman Dimitri when he fought against the government. After Roman Dimitri took over, the people of South Korea accepted him. Breaking international rules is wrong, of course. But South Korea was falling apart. They had to do anything to survive.”
“So, you think it’s okay to break international rules?”
“I’m saying we need to make an exception this time.”
A few days before, the US government had a big, angry meeting. They argued about what to do at this conference. People who followed the Maron Order wanted Roman Dimitri punished. But John Harrison didn’t agree with them. If everyone else in the world decided to punish Roman Dimitri, fine. But the US couldn’t be the first to say it. Harrison had a strange feeling of danger. He felt that even if the whole world worked together, they couldn’t beat Roman Dimitri, even with just small hints of his power.
“South Korea decided to do what they needed to live. We should think about that. And I don’t think changing South Korea’s name is a big deal.”
He backed down a little. He was being careful.
As if they were waiting for him to say that, people started criticizing John Harrison from everywhere. The Presidents of France and Brazil spoke up. “That’s a bad thing to say! You say it’s not a problem? Every country in the world follows international rules. There are no exceptions! If we let Roman Dimitri break the rules, the world will become a mess!” Another leader said, “Did you make a secret deal with Roman Dimitri? Didn’t he help Los Angeles with that big monster? Let me be clear, even if Roman Dimitri is strong enough to beat a super strong monster, there are rules in this world. You can’t break them just because you are strong!”
Two leaders spoke. They were important members of the Maron Order. They had agreed quietly with angry Markov. But when John Harrison disagreed, they attacked him strongly. Not just those two, but all leaders who were part of the Maron Order had been told to punish Roman Dimitri. John Harrison realized what was happening. Sebastian had planned this meeting. The Maron Order. They were a strange group. They did good things for the world, but they also did things like this, going too far.
‘Really, the easiest thing would be to just follow international rules. Everyone would agree. But I’m worried about Roman Dimitri’s personality. He probably won’t accept being punished.’ The meeting room became quiet. Everyone was arguing against him. John Harrison couldn’t do anything. The US had always been the leader in following international rules. He couldn’t support Roman Dimitri more than he already had. From the start, John Harrison just wanted to avoid blame. Now, Russia and the Maron Order were in charge of this problem.
Then, the President of Brazil spoke, trying to make his point stronger. “What do you think, Chairman Wang Wiyong?” Everyone looked at Wang Wiyong. China was also a powerful country. People didn’t call Wang Wiyong Emperor yet, but if China agreed to punish Roman Dimitri, then it was decided. Nothing could change it. The Maron Order had planned it this way from the start. They were everywhere in the world, and they always got what they wanted. Also, China wanted South Korea for itself. They should agree to punish Roman Dimitri.
But then, Wang Wiyong spoke. “I understand why South Korea did what they did. I think it’s too much to punish them.”
Everyone was shocked. They looked at Chairman Wang Wiyong, surprised.
