An emergency meeting was called in Dimitri.
When people heard it was about Roman Dimitri, all the important leaders stopped what they were doing and came right away.
With everyone together, Felix spoke.
We have finally received a message from the world beyond the dimensions. They are getting ready for a big disaster in 49 days. If that day comes, they will open a way to bring us to them. The plan is to defeat the Absolute with the combined power of Dimitri and the world beyond dimensions, but the problem is that their message doesn’t show any difference even though ’30 years’ have passed here.
“Does that mean time is different there?”
“That’s right. The message itself and the thing it came in show that time is different in the two worlds.”
At those words, everyone reacted with a sound of shock.
Having waited for 30 years, no one thought that time might be different in the world beyond dimensions. They thought it was obvious.
Since the time of ‘that moment’ that Henry Albert saw and the time of Dimitri were not very different, they thought time would be the same beyond the dimensions.
Whenever they had doubts, they thought that Roman Dimitri had reasons he couldn’t avoid.
The Roman Dimitri that people remembered would never hurt people without a good reason.
They lived their lives.
They accepted waiting for Roman Dimitri as part of their lives, and they enjoyed other things instead of just suffering through the 30 years.
They worked to earn a living, and even while laughing and talking with their families after work, the people of Dimitri went to training regularly, like it was something they all knew they had to do.
And now the truth was revealed.
It turned out that what they thought was wrong. Roman Dimitri had not just ignored them for 30 years.
That was enough.
Rodwell Dimitri, who had been the leader for over 30 years, explained the situation clearly.
“They already knew that time was strange at the edge of the worlds. What’s important now is that whether 30 years have passed or not, the message from His Imperial Majesty Roman Dimitri has finally been delivered to this world. We have been preparing for this very moment. Some may call it a foolish wait, but waiting for ‘him,’ who was the most important person in Dimitri, is what makes us who we are. Isn’t that enough? Our wait has finally been rewarded.”
His voice was strong.
A day, a week, a month, a year, a decade… thirty years like that.
He pushed down all the time that had passed.
Because he wasn’t sure what would happen, Rodwell Dimitri didn’t want to celebrate too early.
He focused on what was real.
What he needed to do now.
The last thing he had to do as leader.
“The day of the final battle has been set. Based on that day, get the entire army ready to move out.”
The day of the final battle arrived.
The time that Roman Dimitri had said would come.
Because the way between worlds was about to open, people were moving busily from early morning.
Clack clack clack.
“Everyone to your positions.”
“Just move as we’ve trained.”
The strongest power in the land.
Dimitri’s soldiers moved with perfect discipline, their boots hitting the ground in a steady rhythm, their faces set with determination. Sunlight glinted off their polished armor as they marched.
No one hesitated, and they went to their positions as they had been doing for 30 years. It was amazing to see.
The usually quiet alleys of Dimitri were now filled with the sounds of marching feet and the clinking of armor. The air, usually still and peaceful, vibrated with a sense of purpose. The sight of soldiers filling and moving through the alleys made the citizens gasp as they came out to watch.
They had been watching the regular training, but the serious feeling of the real thing was completely different.
“Amazing.”
Dominic, a man in his mid-20s, wore a dazed expression.
He was from the time people called ‘the new era’, born after Roman Dimitri’s disappearance.
The past 30 years.
It was hard for Dominic to understand.
The stories of Roman Dimitri, told like legends, sounded too unbelievable. It was hard for people living in peace to believe that a time of chaos was real.
Most people grew up wishing Roman Dimitri would come back because of the stories they heard, but Dominic didn’t believe as much.
Not just for a day or two, but for thirty years.
Whenever his father, a soldier of Dimitri, went to training, Dominic grabbed his leg with a grumpy face.
Each time, his father said this.
“Dominic. I know you want to play with your father, but people living in this peaceful world are all thankful for His Imperial Majesty Roman Dimitri. As a soldier of the Dimitri Empire, and as a father to lovely children like you, this is something I have to do, not something I choose. So please understand.”
He couldn’t understand those words when he was young.
He just didn’t like his father spending time away, and as he grew up, he got used to the training being normal.
It didn’t mean he agreed with them. He still thought the people who believed Roman Dimitri would return were foolish, but he was just accepting reality.
And now.
It was real. Not just stories anymore. Dominic felt a strange mix of disbelief and awe. Could it really be happening?
The signal sent by Roman Dimitri reached them after 30 years, and all those years of waiting became real to him.
Not just Dominic’s father, but also the uncles he knew well, the soldiers guarding the capital of Dimitri, and the strong people who were known across the land. They all moved as one.
Having worked together for 30 years, their perfectly disciplined movements were perfect in a way that made you feel something strong. They had not yet met Roman Dimitri.
But the moment he saw his father among them, something shifted in Dominic. His father’s hair was greyer now, lines etched around his eyes, but his back was straight, his movements sure. Dominic felt a lump form in his throat.
‘Ah.’
His aged father.
When he told him to retire, his father said he wanted to keep going until he couldn’t anymore.
Someday.
Really someday.
When that day came, he said he couldn’t stand just watching like Dominic, even though he had the strength.
Now, the image of him not giving up hope until the end, even with his aged face, came to his mind quickly.
His throat tightened, and tears blurred his vision. He blinked, trying to clear them, but they kept coming, hot and unexpected.
He felt like he finally understood.
‘The stories of His Imperial Majesty Roman Dimitri were all true. Otherwise, there couldn’t be so many people like my father. Because of this day, the past 30 years have not been wasted.’
For some reason, his heart was filled with strong feelings.
Mid-20s.
A generation that had not directly experienced Roman Dimitri.
But now, he had a strong desire to meet Roman Dimitri, the person everyone wanted to see.
The entire army.
Everyone gathered in one place.
Not only Dimitri, but also the important people from Cairo, Hector, Umberto, and other countries came when they were called.
A vast space.
The feelings of excitement and hope of the people there.
Then, Rodwell Dimitri, in full armor, stepped forward. The sound of his armored boots on the ground, ‘Palak,’ echoed in the silence.
Everyone held their breath.
Finally stopping, Rodwell Dmitry looked around at the people and said in a solemn voice.
Rodwell spoke loudly, “Thanks to Emperor Roman Dmitry, this country, this world, is at peace again. Without him, we would still be in despair.”
Each word was spoken with power.
Finally, he could say what he had been thinking about for so long, in front of everyone.
“It has taken 30 years. The time has finally come. We, who live in the land built by Emperor Roman Dmitry, we, who have lived peaceful lives within the system he created, it is time for us to respond to the Emperor’s call and repay him. I cannot guarantee that the events ahead will be hopeful. We don’t know what problems may arise in the process of going to a different dimension, and countless people will die fighting against the enemy called an absolute being. Everything we have prepared for 30 years may be ruined in an instant. But…”
He drew his sword.
He also would cross dimensions.
If he had to jump into a pit of fire, Rodwell Dmitry was willing to be the first to burn to death.
“Remember one thing,” he said.
“We have prepared for this moment without regret. All troops—” He raised his sword high. A beat of silence hung in the air. Then, with a roar, “Advance!”
The huge space was filled with a hot resonance at that fiercely uttered voice.
In front of the portal were Felix and Kevin.
Preparations were complete, but one thing had to be confirmed in order to send the entire army beyond the portal.
Felix said, “Kevin, you must be very careful. Your purpose is to confirm whether the dimensional passage has been secured normally, so if there is even a slight problem, you must use ‘Return Magic’ immediately. We don’t know how magic will work in another dimension. Kevin, be very careful. Your job is just to check the passage. If anything feels wrong, come back *instantly*. Don’t take any risks.”
“I understand,” Kevin replied.
He saw the passage opening.
However, he could not execute the operation without any verification.
Originally, Marquis Fabius was supposed to be in charge of this mission, but as 30 years passed, he had aged considerably to perform strenuous tasks, so Kevin stepped up as a substitute. Others also expressed their willingness to do it, but even Rodwell Dmitry could not stop Kevin’s desire.
For thirty years, Kevin’s life was the same every day: training, home, training. He missed Roman Dmitry terribly. Every night, he dreamed of the day they would meet again.
The bottom of life.
A ray of light that came down like a god.
Others cannot know the intensity of that day, the joy of that day.
Kevin wanted to reach Roman Dmitry’s world first, even if his body was torn apart at the boundary of dimensions.
He gripped his sword. The familiar weight of the steel, a sword given to him by Roman Dmitry himself, felt comforting in his hand. He ran his thumb along the worn leather of the hilt.
“Don’t worry. If I confirm the world beyond the dimension, I will send a signal immediately.”
“I will trust you.”
The preparation was over.
Kevin moved his steps.
As he stood in front of the huge portal, Felix adjusted the magic device.
Suddenly, a blinding white light burst from the device, making everyone shield their eyes. A low rumble shook the ground as the air shimmered in front of the portal.
“Now is the time.”
Felix’s signal.
There was no hesitation.
Kevin immediately threw himself beyond the portal.
The world spun.
Kevin stumbled as he landed. He was in a dark forest filled with strange, hissing sounds. Monsters with sharp claws and glowing eyes snarled from the shadows.
‘Did I succeed?’
He wasn’t sure.
He couldn’t tell if this was Roman Dmitry’s world, but he was certain that he had crossed the boundary of dimensions and reached another world.
He needed certainty to send a signal to Felix.
When he raised his head and looked around, he saw people covered in blood with faces that looked like they were about to breathe their last.
He moved his steps.
He approached them.
He encountered monsters in the middle, but they instinctively opened the way as if they had met a predator.
Abruptly, he stopped walking.
When the man looked at him with blurry eyes, he asked him the truth.
“I will ask you. Are you a man of Emperor Roman Dmitry?”
A single fact.
It was an important issue.
As Kevin stared intently, the man’s eyes widened rapidly.
From then on, Kevin’s heart also beat.
He eagerly waited for the man’s answer.
“That’s right.”
The man whispered.
Kevin nodded, his heart pounding.
“I understand. Then we will fight with you. The Dmitry Empire is here to join this war.”
A short answer.
That was enough.
Kevin drew his sword.
If the unknown man was a man of Roman Dmitry, he would now fight to save them.
‘Felix, our plan has succeeded.’
He sent a signal.
“My name is Kevin.”
He moved his steps towards the monsters.
There was no need to suppress his emotions anymore.
As much as he had waited for Roman Dmitry, as much as he had longed for this moment.
From now on, he would defeat anyone who stood in his way. He would fight for Roman Dmitry, and he would win.
