#101.
Ironically, the carriage I was riding in was easily overtaken by a madman who appeared out of nowhere.
How could that happen to Zavis’s carriage, you ask?
Well, it’s because I wasn’t traveling with the official Zavis knights. Besides, until recently, Jerarkiel was always by my side, so I never anticipated this kind of problem.
‘And who knew the Hebel knights would be so ineffective?’
They were worse than useless. I ended up getting captured while trying to protect them.
For some reason, Ella couldn’t even transform into a human, which made our capture even easier.
Currently, Ella was snuggled in my arms like a pet, desperately trying to transform.
Then, Ella licked the back of my hand and let out a pitiful whimper.
“Kkiing…….”
“Don’t worry about it. Even if you had transformed, we probably still would have been caught.”
I meant it as comfort, but Ella turned her back with a wounded look. She seemed to be blaming herself for being useless again, so I pinched her butt.
“Kking!”
Ella looked at me in surprise. I poked her cheeks and said,
“I can see you blaming yourself even if you don’t say it, so stop it.”
“Kkiing.”
Ella nodded with a sulky face. Her hind legs kept twitching as if the pinched spot hurt, so I gently stroked it instead.
‘But what do I do now?’
Unfortunately, I had pheromones that were far from the offensive type. The only guards, the Hebel knights, were already tied up and locked in a cage-like prison.
There seemed to be a special device on the cage itself, as they were all unable to transform and were just whimpering. I guess they were asking for help, but there’s no way I’m going to risk getting caught again to protect those guys.
‘I guess it’s a good thing I brought the carriage.’
When I first got into Zavis’s carriage, Isla told me that it had a special location tracking enchantment on it.
Since Zavis’s strength was overwhelming, he didn’t need basic functions like defensive magic, but the reason for installing location tracking was simple.
In case Zavis went on a rampage outside.
They had to put location tracking on him in case of an emergency so they could suppress him quickly.
‘I thought it was a pretty useless function compared to other features, but it’s helpful in times like this.’
I had already sent a messenger to Zavis when I left Hebel. If my arrival was delayed, they would try to find me, so it was safest to stay by the carriage if possible.
Luckily, the crazy bandit who attacked us seemed to be after the carriage itself.
I heard it clearly. The bandit was boasting.
‘Hmph! Zavis is nothing special! I’m going to use this carriage as my throne. It feels good to sit on a carriage with the Zavis insignia, doesn’t it?’
The leader seemed to have a stronger pheromone than the other riffraff. He was probably a bastard of a noble beastman.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to exert that much pheromone.
Of course, he was no match for the direct line of noble beastmen, but it was enough power to play king in this lawless zone.
He also had subordinates with strong pheromones by his side. Judging by the power of their pheromones, most of them were probably half-blooded nobles with secrets of birth.
This gang seemed to be led by the strongest of them.
I glared at the impudent bandit sitting on Zavis’s carriage in front of me.
Then, he picked his ear with his little finger and asked his subordinate.
“If they’re riding in the carriage, they must be pretty important people, right?”
“Judging by the poor level of protection, I’m not so sure.”
“Well, they were too weak to even be worth roasting and eating.”
The guy flicked the earwax away and taunted the Hebel knights trapped in the cage. The knights were furious and growled, but there was nothing they could do inside the cage.
“Hey, you. What’s your name?”
“If you’re curious about my name, shouldn’t you tell me your name first?”
The moment I retorted bluntly, it was as if that stimulated him, and he jumped in front of me in an instant.
Before I could be surprised by his incredible jumping power, he leaned his upper body towards me to match my eye level.
“Looks like you haven’t grasped the situation yet?”
“Does it look like I haven’t?”
I understand it so well that it’s a problem.
First of all, I know that the guys in front of me will be dealt with soon. When I glared at him with fire in my eyes, he tilted his head.
“Oh? You’re not scared?”
“I’ve seen a lot of guys who are much scarier than you.”
“Hee, you’re the first brazen brat I’ve ever seen. You’re so small and fearless.”
“Hmph! You don’t seem that big either.”
When I gestured and sneered, the bandit frowned. He was surprised that I didn’t care about his attempt to intimidate me, and even tried to have a staring contest.
Funny. I wouldn’t be intimidated by a guy who’s even worse than Ivan, let alone Jerarkiel.
I was about to growl, even baring my fangs.
Suddenly, the guy threw his head back and laughed heartily.
“Ahahaha! You’re a really cheeky little girl! I like you!”
I don’t know what’s so funny. Can someone explain?
Ella was just as bewildered, blinking at me. Still, she didn’t lose her vigilance against that guy, which made her look pathetic and reliable.
I stared at the guy who was laughing so hard that he was shedding tears with cold eyes.
Then, he grabbed both of my shoulders and made a strange noise.
“Okay! I’ll make you my concubine! You’re still a child, but you’ll be quite a sight when you become an adult.”
“Concubine my foot.”
I blurted out my true feelings and barely managed to hold back from spitting.
If he had said that in front of Jerarkiel, he wouldn’t have even finished his sentence before leaving this world.
It was a moment when I regretted not having Jerarkiel around, who was always annoyingly trying to stick to me.
Anyway, it seemed like I couldn’t help but laugh when I heard something so absurd.
“Hahaha.”
When I burst into laughter like a madman, he tilted his head with a puzzled look.
“Why don’t you like it?”
Are you really asking because you don’t know, animal?
I exclaimed with disgust.
“There’s no woman in this world who likes being a concubine.”
But it seemed like the other person didn’t have the intelligence to understand my words. The guy looked serious, then clapped his hands and shouted Eureka [an exclamation of triumph upon discovering or inventing something].
“Ah, you want to be my main wife?”
Of course, it was an interpretation that went beyond Eureka, yuck!
I looked at the guy with a shit-eating face and leaned on one leg.
How long do I have to listen to this weird proposal?
If I really had offensive pheromones, I would have ended it in one shot.
But I’m a small, cute, and fragile white ferret living a limited life.
Although it’s my daily routine to beat up the Black Lion, I’m no different from a toothless tiger without that Black Lion by my side.
Then, Taebi said forcefully.
― But I’m confident in defense!
― Should I dig a tunnel?
I sighed at Jonathan’s absurd words that followed.
The problem is that I can’t attack.
Even if I just said I was going to kill the Hebel knight, it would be impossible to escape. Honestly, if I had tried to escape alone, I would have escaped long ago.
Besides, it seemed like Jerarkiel would find out sooner than Jonathan could dig a tunnel.
I was lamenting my situation when suddenly the bandit picked me up and declared.
“Okay! You’re not bad as my main wife. You, be my wife!”
At that moment, I was so angry that I couldn’t help but kick, even though I knew this was enemy territory.
“Who says so!”
Thwack―!
