#106.
Zerachiel’s face hardened at the sudden news that Chelsia was in danger. When Ella gasped for breath, Zerachiel urged her on.
“Explain properly. Why did you come here alone?”
“Hah, well, um… While traveling to Javisi territory, the carriage was raided. As I was trying to escape, hah, Victor Orban was captured with us, and Chelsia sent me ahead first.”
Even with her disjointed words, Zerachiel’s mind raced.
“So, you found Victor where you were captured, and Chelsia decided to stay behind?”
“Y-yes! He seemed to have been caught while escaping.”
If that was the case, it was fortunate. If the bandits and Victor were working together, Chelsia might have been in danger.
Zerachiel was trying to maintain his composure when Ella suddenly poured fuel on the fire in Zerachiel’s heart.
“But the bandits seemed strange…”
“Strange?”
“They suddenly asked Chelsia to marry them. They said strange things like divorcing her current husband and remarrying them…”
Thump!
At that moment, the large tree next to Ella lost its strength and fell. It had been directly hit by the pheromones Zerachiel emitted, and its trunk had turned blackish.
“Hick!”
Ella was startled and began to tremble, but Zerachiel was already beyond reason.
“Marriage? Now even thieves are falling for her.”
“L-Lord Zerachiel.”
It was clear that she had made a mistake. He was feeling more murderous towards a mere thief than towards the traitor Victor.
Ella opened her mouth to remedy the situation. But unfortunately, her excuse was worse than saying nothing.
“C-Chelsia is innocent. She even knocked the bandit’s chin off, you know?”
“What? She hit him?”
“Yes?”
“She promised to only hit me.”
“Yes?”
Ella didn’t properly understand Zerachiel’s words and repeated the same word. What she meant as a rejection that embarrassed the other person only stimulated Zerachiel’s jealousy.
‘What is this? Why is he angrier that she hit him?’
It was such a different reaction from the Zerachiel she used to know that Ella was flustered. She even doubted if they were the same species of beastmen now.
“That’s why I can’t let her out of my sight for even a moment.”
Meanwhile, Zerachiel sighed quietly. If he had known this would happen, he would have gone himself instead of sending Ivan with the search party.
And why did Victor have to flee in that direction? Besides, he didn’t like Chelsia’s sense of justice.
Victor was Victor, but he wanted her to take care of her own safety first. He felt uneasy about her taking such risks and sending Ella.
He was worried that she wouldn’t protect herself in even more dangerous situations later on.
Zerachiel ordered Ella, who was trembling.
“Lead the way.”
“Ah, this way!”
Ella turned back and began to move along the path she had come from.
* * *
Some time after sending Ella away.
A guard came out and dragged Victor out of the prison.
“Where are you taking me?”
Victor asked, his face full of fear. He seemed scared of being dragged away without any explanation.
But for me, who had perfectly adapted to this place, it was as peaceful as a neighborhood stroll. It was because I knew they had no intention of killing me.
Then the guard replied harshly.
“Lord Cainreich is calling for you. Follow me quickly if you want to live!”
“Hiek!”
It was a tone meant to intimidate, but it was only a threat to Victor. I, on the other hand, widened my eyes and asked.
“Why is he calling for me?”
At this, the guard made a dumbfounded expression. He seemed exhausted just by me talking to him, as he had been constantly pestered by me.
“Ugh, you’ll find out when you get there!”
The guard answered irritably and dragged me away.
I was separated from Victor in the middle and put into a dressing room.
As I was wondering about it, I saw a beastman bringing a dazzling dress, and I was horrified.
“Don’t tell me you want me to wear this?”
“Lord Cainreich has prepared this dress especially for his future spouse.”
He still hadn’t given up on the remarriage.
But why is the dress like that?
The color was too intense to be a wedding dress. It was more like a dress you would wear to a party.
“A red wedding dress?”
“Well, red is Lord Cainreich’s favorite color. Isn’t it perfect for a remarriage ceremony?”
Perfect my foot.
I shouted at them, seeing them sitting there saying things that deserved a good smack.
“I’m not wearing it!”
I refused, crossing my arms in an X, but I couldn’t stop several beastmen from rushing at me.
They finally succeeded in putting the red wedding dress on me and began to drag me to the wedding hall.
From the beginning, imprisoning the bride-to-be showed how deranged they were.
‘T-this wasn’t in my plan!’
If I had known this would happen, I should have escaped first, Victor or not.
Was the reason they kept me in prison all this time to prepare for the remarriage ceremony?
In the first place, what kind of crazy person in the world puts his bride-to-be in prison?!
I felt uneasy and looked around. The fact that everyone was wearing the same clothes gave me goosebumps.
The most chilling of all were Cainreich in a tuxedo and Victor, who was to be the officiant.
Wait, why is Victor Orban the officiant in this situation?
As I looked at Victor in dismay, Cainreich’s subordinate whispered proudly.
“He’s the most educated among us.”
That was the only reason?
Victor seemed just as bewildered by the situation. I tried to ignore Victor, who was sending me desperate glances for help.
“Oh, the bride has finally arrived.”
Cainreich, who had already come in front of me, held out his hand. It was quite a sight to see him blushing shyly.
“Shall we go, bride?”
Would you go if you were me?
My body froze like ice in the face of a situation even more terrifying than the guard’s threat earlier.
As I stood there stubbornly in protest, he picked me up and strode towards the officiant.
“Let me go!”
No matter how much I struggled, Cainreich wouldn’t let me go. He finally put me down in front of Victor and grinned.
Not to be outdone, I threw off the veil.
“This marriage is invalid!”
In the first place, I’m already married, you know? And I have no intention of getting a divorce!
I have a crazy black lion husband that the world can’t handle. If he finds out about this, it’s all over!
As I stomped on the veil and grumbled, Cainreich asked with abandoned puppy eyes.
“Are you abandoning me now?”
“How can I abandon you when I never had you in the first place!”
His unnecessarily pathetic expression was driving me crazy.
“Anyway, I’m not doing it!”
I turned my back on Cainreich and grabbed the cumbersome hem of the dress.
I was about to leave the virgin road as it was.
Thump!
With a loud noise, smoke billowed from the entrance. I was startled by the uninvited guest who suddenly broke down the door.
“Huh? Lady Chelsia?”
Ivan blinked as he staggered in from the entrance and found me. He looked like he never expected to meet me here.
“Ivan!”
I waved my hand in delight. It was the happiest I had ever been to see Ivan.
I was in danger of getting married twice, but thankfully…
Then Cainreich asked, shielding me.
“Who is it! Who is interfering with someone else’s wedding?”
“Wedding? I’m sorry, but that’s our young mistress.”
“She’s my wife as of today.”
“Huh? Oh, no… Lady Chelsia! Did you have an affair while we were gone?”
Ivan covered his mouth with both hands and made a dumbfounded expression. I screamed at his pretentious reaction.
“No, I didn’t!”
