#80.
Zerachiel regained his composure while Ivan and Chelsia were performing the ritual.
“I will endure it for now, as I cannot show a disgraceful appearance in front of Chi Chi.”
Zerachiel, who looked like he was about to tear Erhaden into pieces, took a step back. Only then did Zakari, who was relieved, hold Rachel again.
Then, glancing at Ivan, who was still reciting the prayer, he said,
“How long are you going to do that bizarre prayer?”
“I’ve only done the first verse.”
“Shut up. Go ahead and throw that guy into the basement of Jabishi Castle.”
“Pardon? Not bury him in the ground?”
“He’s not dead yet.”
“Goodness!”
Ivan jumped up as if surprised. That guy was getting more and more annoying as he grew up. Zakari ordered with a fed-up face.
“Prepare for interrogation as soon as we get back.”
“No, why is it that I always get the troublesome tasks… Haha! Who else would do such dirty work if not me? I’m very good at it! Just leave it to me!”
Ivan was about to refuse but was startled and changed his attitude. But that was only for a moment, as Ivan grumbled again and made a fuss after receiving Zakari’s glare.
“…Hoo, is this why I became an aide, the sense of self-disgust… no, I’m very satisfied. Job satisfaction is at its highest! Master, I love you! Loyalty!”
It was clear that his brain and mouth were fighting each other, unable to find common ground. Chelsia shook her head, watching Ivan’s multiple personalities appear with a curious look.
Being among abnormal beastmen was exhausting.
Of course, she didn’t know it yet, that Keira was including Chelsia in that crazy group as well.
* * *
The next day, Rachel, who had come to her senses, was still in a mood to tear Erhaden to death right away.
“I didn’t like him from the start. That son of a bitch dared to use such dirty tricks. I need to tie up his limbs and beep beep beep— and beeeeeep—!”
The level of swearing was also very high, but what was strange was that Keira wasn’t stopping her. She even seemed to be encouraging her. She also seemed to have defined Erhaden Rodin as someone who deserved to be cursed at.
Well, the fox orb was a spiritual object that put a strain on the beastman’s body. It was fortunate that she was a honey badger beastman with strong stamina.
If it had been Chelsia, her body would have been strained long ago, and she would have suffered from lifelong aftereffects.
It was the worst method that didn’t consider Rachel’s health at all. It was only natural that even Keira, who had always maintained her composure, was so angry.
Chelsia quietly recalled the time when she was talking to Erhaden.
‘There are a lot of beastmen targeting you. They offered quite a price.’
Judging from what he said, it seemed that there were more than one or two people targeting her. Erhaden was probably trying to kidnap her and negotiate with several people.
‘I don’t know if I should call it bold or stupid,’ she thought.
Then Keira said with a blank face.
“The Rodin family claims that this was Erhaden Rodin’s sole crime.”
“Hmph! They’re trying to back out now.”
“What should we do? They said they would delegate all punishment related to Erhaden Rodin to us.”
“It’s like giving something obvious as if they’re doing us a favor. Are they all out of their minds? Whether it’s a solo act or the whole family is involved, make the head of the clan take responsibility. We need to set an example.”
“I will take action accordingly.”
Keira bowed and talked about the next item on the agenda. It was a peaceful scene that was hard to believe that something huge had happened yesterday.
In the meantime, Rachel was diligently feeding Chelsia cherry tomatoes. Chelsia refused several times, but she was forced to eat them because Rachel kept pushing them on her, so she gave up.
‘I knew there would be more beastmen targeting me if I got married, but I didn’t know it would be this fast,’ Chelsia mused.
It seemed that she was the weakest among the Jabishi.
Complaints from nearby beastmen were pouring in due to Zakari’s rampage. The number of beastmen who were afraid that another disaster would happen and were staying home had also increased.
‘Hebel is too quiet,’ she thought.
She expected to hear from him long ago. She tilted her head in wonder, and then she discovered Rachel grinning.
“Why are you smiling?”
“I wasn’t smiling. It’s just that the damn fox is making me laugh.”
Rachel said sternly and lowered the corners of her mouth, but the ends of her lips were twitching, so she looked like she was dying of happiness.
It was okay for her to curse Erhaden one more time while diligently force-feeding cherry tomatoes, but why was she smiling like that?
Rachel was cursing with her mouth, but the corners of her eyes were pulled up. Did Rachel know that it was very bizarre and scary?
Keira also seemed to have noticed Rachel’s strange behavior. Chelsia and Keira’s eyes met in the air.
‘What happened yesterday?’ Chelsia mouthed.
‘Well, only the two of you would know,’ Keira responded silently.
The two people, who exchanged opinions with each other in the shape of their mouths, looked back at Rachel. The two people here meant Rachel and Zakari. Because Zakari guarded Rachel’s bedroom last night.
Rachel was still smiling, and that damn cherry tomato basket didn’t seem to be getting any smaller.
Chelsia looked at Keira with desperate eyes, and she quietly poured the cherry tomatoes in the basket into another basket.
‘As expected, Keira,’ Chelsia thought.
It was a neat skill worthy of a secretary who had been assisting Rachel for a long time. Chelsia gave Keira a thumbs up without Rachel knowing, who knew exactly what to do.
Then, she patted her full stomach and quietly retraced the strange currents of this morning.
‘Come to think of it, Father was also acting strange this morning,’ she realized.
Zakari was in Rachel’s bedroom all night last night. Even though the doctor said it was okay, he insisted on staying, so Keira went back.
Zakari, who had been like that, suddenly left for Jabishi Castle this morning. He said he couldn’t leave Erhaden to Zerachiel alone.
At the time, the corners of Zakari’s mouth were raised as much as Rachel’s as he hurried away.
It seemed that something had happened between Zakari and Rachel last night.
‘Something must have happened last night,’ Chelsia concluded.
At least from their expressions, it didn’t seem like a bad thing, but she was curious because they didn’t say anything.
Then Rachel, who felt Chelsia’s gaze, tilted her head.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“What did you do with Zakari yesterday?”
Chelsia asked with shining eyes.
Rachel’s eyes widened at the direct question. Keira also couldn’t hide her embarrassment with her mouth wide open.
Then Rachel, whose face turned red, said in a shrill voice.
“Hey, hey, what, what did you do? Huh, gee! You really say anything!”
It was Chelsia who was embarrassed by this.
“Yes? Did I say something I shouldn’t have?”
She was just curious if they had reconciled, but the other side was overreacting. Then, Chelsia’s face became blank as she realized that her words were misleading.
“Well, that is….”
Rachel realized that she had made a fuss late because of Chelsia’s blank face and began to drag out her words. Judging from her expression, it seemed like they had a hot reconciliation.
Then, Chelsia stared at her with a sly face, and Rachel, who was embarrassed, shouted.
“You’re still too young like a booger to know!”
“I’m not a child.”
And I’m definitely not a booger!
How long will I have to be treated like a trivial existence like a booger?
Chelsia glanced at Rachel while huffing and puffing. It was because she immediately understood why she was embarrassed.
For reference, Chelsia was not just a child. She was a child who remembered her past life, so she couldn’t not know the reaction.
She already knew everything from Rachel’s expression, but she couldn’t pretend to know. So Chelsia barely managed to calm down her cheekbones from rising.
‘Ahem, it seems like they had a very hot reconciliation,’ she thought to herself.
Well, it’s good if they reconciled. There’s no need to interfere with her in-laws’ love life, and Rachel won’t answer even if I ask her any further.
But the more she did, the more embarrassed Rachel was.
