58. Silver’s Help
“Now it’s really…”
“It’s not over yet.”
Rosette muttered, checking the mana remaining in her body.
“There’s a way left.”
“How?”
“Antony, listen carefully. I’m going to widen that hole with magic. I can’t widen it much, but I can make a hole for us to escape through.”
“Then?”
“You get out first. Then I’ll get out.”
“Okay.”
“And.”
Rosette urged with a firm face.
“If I can’t get out, call for people.”
Antony was shocked.
“Can’t get out?”
“I don’t have much mana left. If I’m unlucky, all my mana might disappear before I can get out.”
“But!”
“So, call for people. I know your leg is uncomfortable, but please. Okay?”
Antony hesitated, then nodded.
“Okay.”
“Now, get ready to go out.”
Rosette focused as she watched Antony stand a few steps away from the hole.
“Bibi, help me one more time.”
“[Bleep…]”
*Why don’t you get out first, Rosette? How can you trust him of all people!*
“I have to trust him. I will trust him.”
Like Bibi said, Rosette wondered, ‘Will Antony really ask people for help when the situation gets worse?’ He ignored her from the first moment he saw her, and even got teased by Rosette.
But Rosette believed in people’s goodness. She wanted to believe it in this life.
“Okay, I’ll do it.”
Rosette took a deep breath and cast her magic. She put defensive magic on herself and Antony, and began to move the stones around the hole.
Fragments fell little by little above her head, but she was not hurt thanks to the defensive magic.
The hole gradually widened, and soon it became large enough for Antony to escape.
“Now, go.”
Antony swallowed hard and looked back at Rosette. Rosette urged again.
“Bring people as soon as you get out.”
“Don’t think about that and think about getting out, you idiot!”
“Okay, so hurry up and leave.”
“…….”
Antony barely turned his body away from Rosette and slowly crawled through the hole.
After he completely escaped, Rosette tried to follow.
But.
‘No!’
The mana she had scraped together ran out.
The magic that barely supported the walls around the hole was released, and fragments began to pour down.
“[Beep!]”
*Rosette, be careful!*
At the same time as Bibi’s urgent voice, large fragments began to pour down on Rosette’s head. Rosette instinctively blocked her head with her arms.
“Keup!”
Thanks to the defensive magic that had not completely dissipated, she was not hit by fragments on her head. However, Rosette fell to the floor due to the impact from above.
“[Bleep!]”
A fairly large wall covered Rosette’s lower body.
Rosette tried to maintain the defensive magic a little longer, but the magic was released as the mana in her body completely disappeared.
The heavy wall mercilessly crushed her fragile legs.
“Ugh!”
“[Bleeik!]”
Bibi went into the gap and tried desperately to lift the wall. But the wall didn’t budge.
This time, she grabbed Rosette’s clothes and pulled, but it was not enough.
“[Bleeiee, Bleeiee!]”
Rosette comforted Bibi, who was crying sadly.
“It’s okay, Bibi. Antony must have called people.”
“[Bleei!]”
“Don’t worry. I trust Antony, Bibi.”
“[Bleeit!]”
Again, fragments poured down from above. A pebble the size of Bibi hit and fell between Rosette’s forehead and head. Blood ran down Rosette’s forehead.
Rosette lay weakly on the floor. Her vision began to blur.
She thought she would be able to escape just a moment ago, but hope began to disappear little by little.
‘I said I’d be back safe…’
The faces of her family flashed before her eyes. If I die here, will everyone cry?
But if I die, who will protect my family? Will the Prince protect them?
“[Bleep! Bleeit!]”
Bibi desperately grabbed Rosette’s sleeve once again. But her body still didn’t move.
Rosette said with difficulty.
“Bibi. You escape.”
She knows it’s useless. If Rosette dies, Bibi, who was summoned by her mana, will disappear.
But she wanted to evacuate Bibi at least.
Rosette pointed to the faint light seeping in from afar and said.
“You can get out there.”
“[Bleei, Bleeiee…]”
Instead of flying away, Bibi cried next to Rosette’s face.
“[Bleeiee.]”
“Go quickly.”
Tears welled up in Bibi’s black eyes as she looked at Rosette.
Bibi kept flying in circles above Rosette’s head, then flew powerfully towards the outside as if she had made up her mind.
Rosette couldn’t take her eyes off Bibi’s receding figure.
‘I hope Bibi is alive even if I die…’
My friend, Bibi. I hope you are safe.
It was the moment when Rosette couldn’t hold on any longer and was about to close her eyes. A strong mana blew in, and the stones blocking her front began to move.
A gap was created, and brilliant sunlight poured down on Rosette’s head.
“[Bleep!]”
At the same time, Bibi’s voice was heard, and something rushed towards Rosette quickly. Silver mane shining in the sunlight. It was Silver.
“[Bleeit! Bleep!]”
Bibi was desperately clinging to Silver’s head.
“[Bleeiee!]”
Silver jumped in front of Rosette in an instant and went under the wall covering Rosette’s body. Then he began to lift the heavy wall with his body.
The wall, which would not budge with the strength of Rosette or Bibi, began to shake little by little. At the same time, powder and fragments poured down from above Rosette’s head.
Bibi spread her wings as if to protect Rosette’s head.
“[Bleeit!]”
“[……!]”
Silver put more strength at Bibi’s urging. Silver roared and gave a little more strength.
“……!”
In a fleeting moment, Silver straightened his body completely and the wall that was crushing Rosette’s legs was lifted.
“[Bleep!]”
Rosette crawled out from under the wall, listening to Bibi’s urging.
As soon as Rosette escaped, Silver approached her. With a thud, the wall fell behind Rosette.
Silver put Rosette, who couldn’t even stand up properly, on his back and began to run into the light. Rosette desperately grabbed the wolf’s fur.
“Milady!”
Joshua, who was standing outside as soon as the wolf passed through the hole, ran to her first.
“Are you okay?”
He discovered the blood flowing from her head and quickly gestured to the back.
“This way!”
Joshua took Rosette off Silver’s back and carefully laid her on the floor. Rosette looked up at his frowning face and asked.
“How…?”
“Antony Huxley ran desperately. He said you were trapped. But while he was struggling to explain exactly where, Bibi came and told us.”
“Bibi…”
She didn’t escape alone, she went to save me.
Her heart warmed. Rosette patted Bibi, who was rubbing her beak on her hand.
“Thank you, Bibi. It’s all thanks to you.”
“[Bleeiee.]”
“But…”
Rosette belatedly checked her surroundings. A few knights were standing behind Joshua, and people were seen running.
Among them was a middle-aged man who appeared to be an imperial wizard. He was surprised to see Silver guarding Rosette’s side.
“A, a familiar [a magically bonded spirit or creature]! Two familiars?”
He looked confused.
“One must be the Milady’s familiar, but the other one is… Could it be?”
Only after confirming that he was looking at Joshua with astonished eyes, Rosette could realize exactly what had happened.
Joshua had summoned Silver in front of many people.
‘The Prince clearly said that he would reveal Silver in two or three years…’
Why? Why now?
Rosette asked in a confused voice.
“Silver… Why…?”
You were supposed to keep it a secret until the appropriate time. What are you doing summoning him like this?
She omitted the rest of the words in case people heard. Joshua, who luckily understood that, rebuked her.
“Is that the problem now?”
“But…”
“Now was the right time. If it wasn’t for Silver, I wouldn’t have been able to save you in time.”
“That kind of…”
“Your Highness!”
Just in time, the doctor ran over, cutting off Rosette’s words. Joshua stood up and instructed the doctor.
“Take a look at her quickly.”
“Yes, I understand.”
The doctor began to examine Rosette carefully. First, he stopped the bleeding on her forehead with a clean towel and asked.
“Where are you uncomfortable?”
Joshua, who had received a hint from Silver instead of Rosette, answered.
“Her legs were crushed by a large wall. It seems like her head was hit by fragments.”
“I understand. Let’s take a look for now.”
The doctor examined this and that and explained with an expression that was hard to tell whether he was relieved or worried.
“The nerves in her lower body are not damaged. I was most worried about that, but thankfully.”
“Then?”
“However, there is something wrong with her leg bones. It seems like they are cracked or broken. Let’s do first aid and ask a wizard for treatment.”
“There’s no need for that. If we go to the Duke’s residence, the Witch of Fire [a powerful healer in the Duke’s family] will probably treat her. Just do first aid for now.”
“Yes.”
The doctor put a splint on Rosette’s foot and wrapped it tightly with bandages. Joshua instructed one of the knights.
“Send someone to Adrian Duke’s family quickly and let them know that the Milady is injured. Also tell them that the Duke’s family doctor and Celine Karin will be needed.”
“Yes, I understand.”
Joshua, who had confirmed that the knight was leaving, sighed softly.
“My teacher must be very angry.”
Rosette murmured gloomily, thinking about her family who would be surprised to hear the news.
“I know.”
She couldn’t even imagine how her family would react.
“Still, it’s a relief that it ended there.”
Joshua murmured softly and stroked Rosette’s hair. His touch was gentle. It was an action that Rosette couldn’t have imagined when she first met him.
“That…”
Rosette murmured, trying to ignore the fingertips tickling her forehead.
“Thank you. For sending Silver.”
Even if Silver hadn’t come, Rosette would have been rescued safely. People who had heard Antony and Bibi’s request for help were already running.
But it would have taken a little longer.
If another fragment had fallen on Rosette’s head in the meantime…
‘Maybe I would have died.’
Since they couldn’t use protective magic on Rosette inside from the outside, maybe it would have collapsed while clearing the fragments enough for people to enter.
So Joshua made the best choice in that situation.
‘But there was no need to do that.’
Rosette thought about the advantages Joshua would gain when he summoned Silver and when he didn’t.
But no matter how much she thought about it, there was no advantage to him summoning Silver to save her. Rather, it only became more troublesome.
The title of genius who summoned a familiar at the age of twelve would be poison to him. Maybe it will stimulate Duke Lilith even more.
So she unknowingly murmured.
“But you could have just left someone like me alone. You’re going to get into trouble because of me, Your Highness.”
Joshua stared down at Rosette, who couldn’t even look him in the eye properly because of her guilt.
‘That’s right.’
But rational thinking was impossible at Antony’s words that Rosette was trapped inside and Bibi’s words conveyed through Silver that Rosette might die if this continued.
It meant that there was no time to measure what would be more profitable and what would be a loss.
He instinctively summoned Silver and created a space where Silver could enter with magic.
All of that series of processes was done instinctively.
There was only one reason.
‘I didn’t want to lose this child.’
