Future Plans (2)
A mini command center was set up on one side of the catacombs.
Public Wi-Fi was installed throughout the catacombs. Anywhere the signal reached, it could connect to cameras and display Rex’s movements on a screen.
Of course, even if the Wi-Fi cut out, they could just review the recorded footage.
A laptop, a desk made of bone, and a chair.
The desk and chair were made of a beautiful white material, so Lee Seul-gi sat down without any hesitation. She would probably be horrified if she knew they were made of bone.
The laptop screen only showed something flashing by.
It was too fast to make out.
“Is he even moving?”
“Yes.”
“How can he move so fast?”
“Just think of it as far beyond the limits of a human.”
“Could I become like that too?”
Lee Seul-gi’s ambition flared up again.
When she first encountered black magic, she admired its power rather than being surprised. Truly befitting a woman who strives for power.
She had even given up marriage to succeed and become the head of the Structure Department.
She was lucky to catch my eye, but it would have been impossible without tremendous effort. Plus, she was also brilliant.
Learning black magic would interfere with her work in the short term, but even reaching the 1st Circle would greatly improve her stamina.
That meant I could exploit her even more.
“I will guide you.”
“Oh! Really!?”
“Of course. If it’s a field of study you desire so much, it’s only right that I help you.”
“Thank you!”
Lee Seul-gi was happy, unaware of my dark intentions.
I looked at the screen again.
Rex was already approaching the black mages.
However, the camera couldn’t capture Rex’s rapid movements, only leaving blurry afterimages.
There are several black magic organizations scattered around the world.
There were famous groups in their world, including Curse.
If Dark Moon specialized in necromancy [raising the dead], Curse specialized in curses. Of course, there were also black mages who specialized in poison.
Black mages armed with all sorts of curses visited the catacombs to scout.
They knew Dark Moon was inside the catacombs, but they didn’t know exactly where.
Thump, thump!
Considerable black magic energy.
Randel, the deputy leader of the black magic group Curse, tried to find Dark Moon’s base by controlling evil spirits.
However, beyond a certain point, they were blocked by a barrier.
At this rate, it was impossible to tell where anything was.
It wasn’t for nothing that the government controlled part of the catacombs. They controlled it because there was a high possibility of getting lost in the maze and dying.
“Randel-nim [term of respect]. Are they really in the catacombs?”
“Yes. Our mission is to find their base. That’s the only way we can absorb them.”
Dark Moon’s recent activities were suspicious.
More than anything, now that Chairman Lee Yoo-sung had absorbed Dark Moon, there was no guarantee they wouldn’t target Curse.
That’s why they were moving first.
Today, as proof, M Group was absorbed by Chairman Lee Yoo-sung.
The next in line might be the Musk Group.
Whoosh!
The wind blew from somewhere.
They guarded their surroundings.
This was Dark Moon’s front yard. If they weren’t careful, they could die here before even finding their base.
Whoosh!
When the wind blew again, everyone raised their mana shields.
It was true that they specialized in curses, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t use other magic.
Crack!
The mana shield flew away in an instant.
Even though they used poison magic that melted the front, the opponent wasn’t hit. Still, they dodged and quickly struck them.
Thwack!
“Ugh!”
The vision flickered before their eyes.
“To die so futilely…….”
They didn’t know who had hit them.
They just felt the wind blowing, something moving, and then a shock to the head, and they passed out.
Dark Moon Headquarters.
Three men and women were tied up in the courtyard.
Looking at their faces, they seemed to be Americans.
The one who appeared to be their leader was a middle-aged man in his early 50s, and the other two were women in their late 20s.
Did he just bring them as assistants?
Dark Moon people who had been working returned.
Calvene chuckled and recognized the middle-aged man.
“Oh, my, who is this? Isn’t it Randel?”
“Tch. So the old man is still alive.”
“What brings you here? You came to scout and find out where our headquarters is, right? How does it feel to fail?”
“…….”
Randel didn’t say anything.
Lee Seul-gi and I were watching the scene with interest.
“Master. They won’t open their mouths.”
“Doesn’t matter, does it? We can just extract their souls and ask them.”
“Hmph! Binding souls and questioning them is high-level curse magic! It’s not something you guys can do!”
“Oh, really? That’s a shame. Our Master has already reached the highest realm.”
“Nonsense!”
Calvene deliberately revealed my level.
Eventually, I planned to unify all the black mages in the world. And keep them under my command.
If so, it was necessary to show overwhelming power.
In order to make good use of the Musk Group they had, there was no need to kill them.
Whoosh!
I opened a gate and appeared in front of them.
“Gasp!”
It wasn’t a simple blink.
Opening a gate meant that instant movement was possible, and using it without a magic circle was proof of the 7th Circle.
Randel’s eyes shook violently.
“No way. He really reached the 7th Circle!? How could such a young man reach such a high level!”
Now he knew that I had reached the highest level and that I could easily interrogate souls.
Perhaps because of that, they trembled like aspen trees.
“Shall we begin the interrogation then? Where is your headquarters?”
“That’s…….”
“Ah! You don’t have to say it if you don’t want to. Eventually, the black mages on Earth will be unified, and we will cross dimensions to find its origin.”
“……!”
You shouldn’t just give a whip.
You also have to give a carrot to control people.
With the appearance of a 7th Circle black mage, even if all the black mages resisted, they couldn’t stop it. Randel seemed to be accepting that too.
And the origin of black magic that I mentioned.
Exploring the world where black magic originated beyond dimensions was the wish of all black mages.
I was going to give them that vision.
“Eventually, black mages will be unified in the near future, and a huge corporate group will be born. And I will be behind the political and business worlds. I’m planning to even do dimensional trade, so are you willing to participate? The opportunity is only once. And I’ll give you 10 seconds.”
“Even so, 10 seconds!”
Randel shouted, but there was no spite in it.
It was just that he didn’t want to admit it, so he was just trying to resist as a formality. But I limited the time.
If it exceeded 10 seconds, I was really going to cut off his head.
“Oh, my. 5 seconds left.”
Two more of the five fingers went down.
“I, I will!”
“What did you say? You’re not speaking clearly.”
“I will! I hope to participate in the great work!”
He switched his stance.
If I had only used the whip, he wouldn’t have given in so easily. By presenting a vision, he had no choice.
Of course, the fact that no one in this world had reached the highest level also played a big part.
“Well, then, shall we make a mana oath? Ah! What about you guys?”
“Eek!”
I looked at the women who came with him.
They were trembling.
“Tell him you’ll participate!”
Randel scolded them.
If they had the eyes to judge the situation, they would know that there was no way out.
They nodded.
“We will follow the great work!”
“Make a mana oath. That’s the only way I can trust you.”
“We will!”
They accepted the mana oath.
It was the moment when black mages other than Dark Moon became my subordinates.
Dark Moon Conference Room.
Even though it was a conference room, it had a fairly relaxed atmosphere where they drank tea and alcohol.
Of course, they also ate food.
Lee Seul-gi looked around curiously.
Everyone knew that I had bound Lee Seul-gi, so no one paid attention to her. They judged that she was an ally.
Randel became docile after making the mana oath.
“I was really surprised. I never thought someone who had reached the highest realm would appear.”
“It just happened somehow.”
“Most black mages are below the 5th Circle. The leader of Curse has reached the 6th Circle, but Master can easily deal with him.”
“Where is the main headquarters?”
“It’s in Hawaii.”
“Huh? Hawaii?”
This was another unexpected place.
I thought Dark Moon would be in the mainland United States. Black magic is hard to develop without facilities like the catacombs.
But Hawaii.
Randel continued to explain.
“The main headquarters is located in Kalawao County.”
“Um. Not Honolulu?”
“Yes.”
“I heard that the population there is less than 100 people.”
“That’s right. There are few houses.”
“Why there of all places?”
“Does Master know about ancient civilizations?”
“Like the Mayan civilization?”
“Even more ancient than that. Back when there was only one continent, Kalawao Island, where we are located, was originally called the tomb of the ancients. Due to a volcanic eruption, an entire city completely sank underground.”
“Is that a legend like the legend of Atlantis?”
“It’s not a legend, it’s the truth. Tens of thousands of years have passed since that sudden death. Moreover, the sea was created, and the evil spirits there began to emit terrible resentment. The entire Kalawao Island is filled with such black magic energy.”
“Heh.”
It was an amazing fact.
In fact, the history that our humanity knows does not record all of the past.
In a situation where even records from a thousand years ago are not accurate, it was foolish to jump to conclusions about things from tens of thousands of years ago.
Civilizations may have existed at that time. And if they were completely buried and solidified in volcanic ash, it was only natural that they had not been discovered until now.
In the case of Kalawao Island, it had never been developed. Something would have to come out if you dug deep into the ground, but since that had never happened, ancient civilizations had not been excavated until now.
That island might be a place far more filled with resentment than this catacomb.
“You grew your strength there.”
“We didn’t have to worry about anyone’s eyes with the abundant black magic energy. It’s always darkest under the lamp [a common idiom meaning the most obvious place is often overlooked].”
“What about the Musk Group in the United States?”
“It was a device to make all the black mages in the world believe that Curse was in the mainland United States. That’s how it started at first, but now it seems to be making money on its own.”
“…….”
The story behind the birth of the Musk Group.
“If that’s the case, then the company doesn’t matter. I’m going straight to Hawaii. And I’ll devour the delicious prey.”
