The Family Secret (2)
It was 2 AM in Korea, but only 6 PM in France.
Calvene answered the phone immediately, likely on his way home from work.
-It’s me, Master.
“I just sent the data my eldest daughter researched. Have it reviewed.”
-The young lady?
“She said she’s deciphered about half of the magic circle.”
-Gasp! By herself!?
Calvene gasped for air.
The world’s smartest black mages were all stuck researching it.
Half were juggling it with their regular duties, while the other half dedicated their time to deciphering it. All were striving towards a single goal.
My doting father emotions swelled up again.
“Ahem. My genes are just that superior.”
-No matter how I think about it, it seems impossible.
“My daughter is no ordinary genius.”
-Hahaha. It seems so. I’ll have to review it, but you certainly have an amazing daughter.
“Hehehe. Right?”
Of course, my mouth stretched into a wide grin.
Soojung looked at me disapprovingly but didn’t say anything.
She’d seen this scene countless times anyway.
Wiping the drool from my mouth, I said,
“Anyway, review it and call me tomorrow.”
-Yes! Please tell the young lady she did a great job.
“Yeah, yeah.”
The call ended.
Soojung crossed her arms and looked at me.
“Dad, really. Even if I am a bit exceptional, won’t people dislike you if you act like that?”
“Nonsense. Who would dare? That will never happen.”
“I shouldn’t have said anything.”
Soojung just shook her head.
Around morning.
Our family was preparing to start the day.
It was a typical morning, but it felt different from before.
It felt more intimate and connected.
Our family already boasted considerable affection, but now that we’d shared our secrets, there were no secrets left.
The reason relationships sour is because of false pretenses.
It’s not that we’d been living under false pretenses, but the disappearance of secrets was an opportunity for our family bond to grow even stronger.
Ziiing!
The phone rang.
It was 7 AM now, and it would be dawn in France, but Calvene was calling.
He must have been analyzing Soojung’s research data without any sleep.
-M, Master!
“What’s wrong with your voice?”
-It’s perfect! She really deciphered it perfectly.
“Ah, of course. Who else would have done it?”
-I sent this data to each mage and compiled it. They say over 90% of the interpretation is complete!
“Over 90%. How long will it take?”
-At the earliest, two months, but no later than the end of the year, I think it’s possible.
“Hmm. Is that so?”
Well, there had to be time to produce the movie, and the Undead would need to be trained.
I had already selected a high-ranking demon as a training instructor.
He was well-versed in the martial arts of the Demon Realm and had knowledge of formations. He had also mastered various weapon techniques, so once the environment was created, the army would quickly become elite.
-This is nothing short of a revolution. It’s truly amazing. The young lady has definitely transcended the realm of ordinary genius.
She was a genius among geniuses.
An ordinary genius was someone outstanding who might appear once in ten thousand people, but Soojung was exceptional even among them.
“Soojung is probably the smartest person in the world.”
-I think so too!
“Hahaha! Then good work.”
-Yes, Master!
As I hung up, Sua looked at me with strange eyes.
“What’s wrong?”
“Dad. Sua is smarter!”
“Hahaha! Daughters. You are both geniuses, so there’s no need to compete.”
“Hmph!”
Sua seemed quite sulky.
In comparison, Soojung was busy teasing Sua, baring her teeth.
CIA Korean Branch.
The United States was keeping a close eye on Korea.
To be precise, they were watching Chairman Lee Yoosung.
The CIA was currently monitoring Chairman Lee Yoosung as a person of interest. They accurately recognized that he would have a significant impact on global affairs.
That’s why Director Katherine frequently traveled to Korea.
The VIP was also very interested in Chairman Lee Yoosung, and information about him was reported almost in real-time.
Katherine, who had arrived in Korea just this morning, was shocked by the information notified by the Korean government.
“They’re arming 100,000 androids to shoot a movie!”
“Y, yes, that’s what they say.”
“Are these people planning an invasion or something!?”
Katherine’s reaction was not an exaggeration at all.
What movie in the world would be filmed with 100,000 people? In a society where CG [Computer-Generated Imagery] is as developed as it is now?
Of course, no matter how developed CG was, it couldn’t compare to the real thing. There were limits.
It was an enormous task to CG 100,000 soldiers individually.
If they were really filming a movie, it would be unprecedented in history.
But are they really just filming a movie?
Katherine definitely didn’t think so.
“If they invade with new weapons… no country can stop them. We might really have to use nuclear weapons.”
“But they say they’re arming themselves with ancient weapons.”
“Hmph! Would they only produce ancient weapons? That could be a smokescreen.”
The position of CIA Director isn’t given to just anyone.
If anyone could do it, the United States would have collapsed by now.
Katherine could sense that there was something fishy going on.
“Is Chairman Lee Yoosung planning a war?”
“It’s not a coup. It’s something that the Korean government has permitted.”
“They even got permission for that?”
“That’s what they say.”
“What on earth is he up to?”
“Because of that, they’ve placed large orders with steel companies and are even preparing to acquire a steel mill. Currently, Korea is consuming enormous amounts of steel to produce ancient weapons.”
The CIA agent reported in a stiff posture.
Even the agent thought this had serious implications.
However, it was difficult to guess what the scheme was.
“If they’re filming a movie, they’ll acquire a film company too, right?”
“They’re trying to contact famous film companies. They say they won’t accept investors and will only use Chairman Lee Yoosung’s capital.”
“He’s gathering all the wealth in the world…”
This was a really serious matter.
He seemed poised to conquer the world if he set his mind to it.
“I think I’ll have to meet Chairman Lee Yoosung and get some information.”
“Wouldn’t that unnecessarily provoke him?”
The agent felt cold sweat running down his back.
It hadn’t been long since the president and ministers had been kidnapped and released.
If they provoked Chairman Lee Yoosung here, he might assassinate them this time.
Katherine stood up.
With this level of issue, she had no choice but to ask directly.
“Let’s go to Soo Group.”
In the car, I briefly discussed today’s agenda with Lee Seulgi.
Minimize meetings with various people and only handle important matters. Otherwise, even having two bodies wouldn’t be enough.
There were two main things to do today.
Meeting with President Rohan of MH Exploration Planning and 본격적으로 추진하는 일이다 [pursuing things in earnest].
All of this was a setup necessary to cross over to the Otherworld in the future.
MH Exploration Planning was for money laundering, and acquiring and producing movies was naturally for raising an army of 100,000.
I could have just picked them and charged in, but it was better to train them if possible, and it was ambiguous where to hide 100,000 Undead soldiers. That’s why I was doing this cumbersome work.
Once the training ground and set were completed, I could continue to recruit troops and send them to the Otherworld.
So it was something I had to do.
“S Construction moved, right?”
“Yes! They bought 100,000 *pyeong* [approximately 82.6 acres] in Paju, and experts are moving there. Construction will start in a few days.”
The groundwork was already underway.
It was clear that it would be completed in an instant with 100,000 workers投入되면 순식간에 완성이 될 것이 분명했다 [being put in, it would be completed in an instant].
It wasn’t like they were building buildings on the entire 100,000 *pyeong*, but creating a training ground and set. Of course, a factory would also be built there.
It would probably be possible within a month.
While we were talking about this and that, we arrived in front of the company. We decided to continue the detailed discussion at the executive meeting.
Chuck!
As I was about to enter the company, someone blocked my path.
Two men in black suits and a middle-aged woman I knew well.
The CIA Director was frequently coming to Korea as if her position was some kind of field agent. And today, she appeared here.
“It’s been a while.”
“Director, you come often, don’t you?”
“Because you are the most important person in the world.”
“Why did you come?”
I was already busy, and even Katherine couldn’t be my opponent. If I set my mind to it, I could even dismantle the entire CIA.
Katherine wasn’t intimidated by my sharp words and said,
“I’m sorry, but I came to ask a few questions. To put it bluntly, I’m here to confirm whether you have any intention of invading our United States.”
This was very absurd.
Me, invading the United States?
Ah, of course, it was true that I was doing this to invade somewhere.
It seemed necessary to explain since it could be troublesome if the United States got involved.
“Let’s go. You need some mental education.”
I reached my office and faced Director Katherine.
Wasn’t the CIA Director a person in a great position? She had risen through the ranks of the military and was soon to enter politics. She was a big shot.
Such a person had flown to Korea and was worrying about unnecessary things.
Of course, I understood.
The president and ministers of her country were captured by a few androids. So it was inevitable that she would be dumbfounded when she heard that I was raising 100,000 of those monsters.
The problem was that I didn’t need to start a war on Earth.
“Now, let’s think about it. You came here because you suspect that I’m trying to wage war with the United States, right? What’s the reason for that?”
“The problem is that there’s no reason, and it’s my job to prepare for any possible situation.”
“So you’re just suspicious?”
“I’m not suspicious. I’m just thinking that a war might break out somewhere. Like North Korea?”
This was a reasonable suspicion.
For 100,000 troops to move to the United States, a large fleet would have to be mobilized. Naturally, it would be caught by reconnaissance satellites, and they would try to intercept it in an amphibious landing.
But what if I pushed up to North Korea?
That was entirely possible. In the current situation, US sanctions have become lax. If I wanted to, not the Korean government, but me, I could achieve unification by force by advancing north.
If that happened, China would go wild, but I could kidnap their VIPs in the same way and threaten them, or the United States and Russia could join hands and pressure China.
There were several scenarios that could come out.
I shrugged and said.
