Showing Evidence (1)
Bang! Thump-thump-thump!
A tremendous roar erupted from the cannon-like muzzle of what looked like a magical weapon.
But the sound was the only impressive thing; a small lump of iron rolled out and dropped to the ground.
This was the northern military training ground of the Arden Marquisate.
Thousands of troops were engaged in military training, and the weapons lined up around them were bizarre.
Duke Oser of the Magic Kingdom’s Second Army, responsible for the western front, was flying through the sky to observe the enemy’s movements firsthand, conducting reconnaissance.
After the foolish Count Rayon suffered a crushing defeat, he had sought out Duke Oser to warn him sternly, saying that it would be impossible to stop the enemy by any means.
However, Duke Oser believed that Rayon had been defeated because he had not used any strategy.
Even if one relied on the brute force of numbers, some level of strategy was necessary. In other words, he believed that Count Rayon had lost because he had not employed any strategy at all.
The first step in strategy is reconnaissance.
If this man named Lee Yoosung was so formidable, he would surely use some kind of strategy.
After using Fly magic and Invisibility to become transparent, he scouted the area and found that the enemies had brought in strange weapons.
“What are they doing with that thing?”
The weapon had no power.
Only the sound was tremendous. Such a weapon might be useful in a war against humans, but it would be of little use here.
Of course, they might just be practicing.
Training by loading practice iron balls into empty weapons and firing them.
What could be inside that thing?
There were many large iron balls inside, but even if they were fired, they would only harm a few undead.
In other words, it was not a significant concern.
“What a fool.”
It seemed to be a new weapon of sorts, but if they brought such a weapon against a force of over a million, it would not inflict any damage.
Duke Oser hovered in the air for a long time before disappearing.
Military training ground.
They had been training for two days already, and the undead soldiers were learning at an incredible rate.
They quickly mastered artillery training, rifle training, grenades, missiles, howitzers, field guns, and tanks.
They learned at a truly astonishing speed and never forgot what they had learned.
In the midst of this, a powerful magical force was felt.
The one presumed to be the enemy commander seemed to have come to scout.
‘He’s not entirely brainless.’
However, the practice cannons did not seem very powerful.
They used gunpowder, so the sound was loud, but they did not inflict much damage.
Calvene reports.
“He’s gone.”
“The trace of magic?”
“It leads to the western front.”
“So, he’s the actual commander who leads the million-strong army.”
He seemed to be more intelligent than that Count Rayon.
The problem was that he did not accurately know the power of the weapons I had brought.
If he had come to gather information, he should have dug deeper, but he failed to do so. This would lead to his downfall.
“Today, we will do shooting practice.”
“As you command.”
Now that they had learned how to shoot, they needed to practice shooting at least once.
Oh Dal-sung, who observed the shooting practice in the afternoon, did not expect much.
“Chairman, while we receive mechanical assistance in other areas, shooting is not one of them. It is solely based on one’s own skill.”
“Don’t worry.”
“Hahaha. Marksmen are not made so easily.”
“You’ll see.”
It was dangerous to underestimate the undead.
Shooting is difficult because of breathing and muscle strength.
The aim wavers, causing the focus to blur.
Shooting a target at a distance creates changes with even slight tremors. The same goes for breathing.
But do the undead even breathe?
Their hearts didn’t beat, and their strength was more than 100 times that of an average person. There was no tremor at all. This was possible because they had no muscles.
The practice soon began.
Ta-ta-ta-tang!
First, three shots for zeroing [adjusting the sights of a firearm].
You had to zero in to shoot accurately.
Even General Kang at the shooting range didn’t seem to expect much.
At least a few days would be needed just for shooting practice, but to go into actual combat after only one shooting practice.
From the instructor’s point of view, it was absurd.
The soldiers brought the targets, and the instructors were astonished when they checked them.
“Heo!”
“To pierce the same spot so accurately!”
They were soldiers.
They had been in the military their entire lives, and they could roughly tell how the targets were hit just by looking at them.
The problem was that the very center was pierced.
The rifle’s crank was aligned with the center. Zeroing exists to align this with the human eye. It is used by adjusting the crank to match one’s own eye.
Each person’s eyes are different.
The crystalline lens is different, and the size and shape of the pupils are all different, so there was no guarantee that the rifle’s zeroing would be suitable for someone else just because it was suitable for me.
But the undead are different.
If there was a crank in the center, that was enough.
The bullet was in there without even a 1mm error.
“What is this…”
“It’s the excellence of the androids.”
“Hehe. Are you saying that even androids can hit the target like this?”
“Haven’t you experimented with it?”
“Not yet.”
“They are mechanically accurate.”
“I see.”
What else could they say?
General Kang, who was next to him, said.
“At this point, the training is complete. With talents like these, they will be able to handle all kinds of weapons just by reading the manuals.”
“Then let’s have them read for a few hours.”
“Hehehe. Hehehehe.”
They were veterans with considerable experience in training soldiers.
They certainly had no experience in training individuals with this level of ability.
Evening fell, and darkness descended.
The instructors’ mission was over.
They had carried out their mission for the past three days and had completely transformed the soldiers into a modern army.
No, could these be called a modern army?
They were a so-called hybrid army.
They could handle not only ancient cold weapons but also various firearms and equipment.
The number was in the thousands, but it was enough to devastate a million-strong army.
Unless they were given shields that were almost universally effective against chemical weapons, they would surely be devastated.
Now it was time for the instructors to leave.
Minister Oh Dal-sung expressed his regret.
“It would have been nice to see the war firsthand.”
“If the opportunity arises, I’ll invite you.”
“Really?”
“Yes. But Minister, you must be responsible for the defense of Korea.”
“I wish I could see it in a video, at least.”
“If you stay a few more days, I might be able to show you.”
“Hehehe. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time.”
Because of their positions, they could not leave the defense of the country for long. Without them, the defense would not function.
I shook hands with them.
“See you next time.”
“Then I wish you victory. Victory!”
“Victory.”
As they saluted, I also saluted. Then I sent the Minister and the General back to where they belonged.
Calvene approaches.
“The war preparations are complete.”
“Yes. Now it’s time to show our power.”
The corners of my lips quirked up slightly.
It didn’t matter what preparations the enemies had made. We were ready to crush them all.
A camp about half a day away from the Russell Marquisate on the western front.
Thump!
Thousands of troops poured into this place.
This camp was the Maginot Line [a line of defensive fortifications built before World War II], and if they advanced further, they would have to participate in the battle immediately. Therefore, they had to complete their preparations perfectly here before advancing.
The commanders all gathered.
As various weapons began to pour out, the nobles wore bewildered expressions.
“Lord, what is this?”
“These are the weapons from where I live.”
“Heo! Are these the weapons of the Celestial Army!?”
“Not the Celestial Army, but the weapons from another world.”
The Arden Marquis, Count Amon, and Count Luyan also knew that I was not from the Celestial Army but from another world.
Perhaps because of this, they had a great interest in the weapons.
“Ooh! Weapons from another world!”
“Is this a magic bomb?”
“Well, something similar.”
“If it’s this much magic bomb…”
A world where magic has degenerated.
However, sometimes relics of the ancient Magic Empire were discovered, but in fact, they were just magical tools.
They might seem great in a world without magic, but from the perspective of those who use magic, the relics of the Magic Empire were crude.
One of them was the magic bomb.
It was an object that used magic to cause an explosion, similar to a modern grenade.
But these were weapons that could not be compared to mere grenades.
Howitzers, field guns, napalm bombs, and even missiles that targeted the leadership.
The range varied from tens of kilometers to as little as 5 km, and they could devastate an area the size of a sports field with a single shot.
If hundreds of such bombs fell, any densely packed formation would simply be annihilated.
In modern warfare, such weapons cannot be used carelessly. First of all, war itself is used as a last resort.
Full-scale war with chemical weapons is avoided as much as possible. The moment total war breaks out, both sides can be destroyed.
But this is another world.
There is no system in place to block modern weapons.
There are no Aegis ships [highly advanced missile defense systems] or defensive missiles. Therefore, it was an environment where they could only fall into shock when they saw a weapon for the first time.
“Let’s go into the meeting.”
“Yes!”
There was a buzz in the conference room.
I thought they were probably interested in modern weapons.
Even the black mages were surprised by the amount I had brought.
Thousands of napalm bombs alone.
Ordinary countries do not store so many weapons in this way. In addition to 50,000 rifles, machine guns, and grenades, there were even night vision goggles.
The money spent on just buying them was enormous.
Of course, I have no limit to my funds now. I could probably buy weapons that could overturn the entire world several times over, even if I only used a portion of the money I have.
Swaak!
Soojung spread out the map.
Now, no one ignored Soojung because she was small.
It had been proven that Soojung was a genius, and people knew well that she was more than qualified to be a strategist.
Rather, she was overqualified.
Lisa and Sooah also attended this meeting for a while.
Of course, Lisa and Sooah were scheduled to return home before the war began.
Soojung smiled brightly and said.
“The operation is simple!”
“…….”
Expectations were high.
“We’ll completely wipe out the enemy’s main base and then go into a mopping-up operation!”
