The Last Struggle (1)
The corners of my lips quirked up at Catherine’s words.
She was testing the extent of my power.
Now that I had revealed my magic, it wouldn’t be bad to make them realize the difference in power.
“It’s 15%.”
“……!”
“However, that’s compared to the general androids I possess. It’s incomparable to the higher-end models.”
“Th, that’s…….”
“The higher-level entities have the power to annihilate the leadership of an enemy nation single-handedly. Imagine an invisible enemy attacking.”
“Hmph.”
John Carter, who had been listening quietly, finally let out a groan.
In other words, the power I possessed could devastate the leadership of the entire world and wipe out key figures in each country.
There would be nothing more terrifying than an invisible enemy attacking.
Catherine looked quite dejected.
“Unbelievable…….”
“Shall I show you?”
“Ah, no! There’s no need to go that far.”
“It’s best not to try to probe me in the future. Why do you think I don’t attempt world domination?”
“I don’t know. If you have that much power, there’s no reason not to.”
“Because the resistance from the citizens would be considerable. About half of humanity would die in the process. Also, I don’t want to. If I wanted to, I could become a mastermind and manipulate each country from behind.”
“That’s…… quite possible.”
Former Director Catherine and the President were not pushovers.
They had achieved great things in their respective fields and had climbed to where they were. So, they would fully understand what I was talking about.
“Since everyone seems to understand, I should be going now.”
“Where are you going?”
“I have to go to Russia.”
“Are you touring each country today?”
“It seems more accurate to say that I’m raiding each country’s food supplies.”
The people nodded.
It was about time to return.
Whoosh!
With a flash of white light, Chairman Lee Yoosung disappeared.
In the White House, only John Carter and Catherine were left in the Oval Office, wearing bewildered expressions. They couldn’t even tell if what had just happened was real.
“Catherine.”
“Yes, Mr. President.”
“Surely I’m not dreaming, am I?”
“Oh? How did you have the same thought as me? I was also thinking that I was dreaming.”
“Hahaha. The expression ‘beyond absurdity’ comes to mind.”
“But one thing is certain.”
“What is it?”
“It’s a relief that we didn’t antagonize Chairman Lee Yoosung.”
“That’s true.”
What if they had antagonized Chairman Lee Yoosung and he had a malicious intent?
John Carter and Catherine would never survive.
“Shouldn’t we be monitoring Korea more closely now that this has happened?”
“Monitor?”
John Carter raised his eyebrows.
Then he soon realized that Catherine had stepped down from her position as director. Catherine’s question was merely a professional habit.
“There’s no need for that.”
“Why not?”
“I don’t want to unnecessarily provoke him.”
“We might end up giving up our hegemony [leadership or dominance].”
“It’s better than dying.”
“…….”
Catherine nodded without realizing it.
They outwardly said that they would give their lives for their country, but most people prioritize their own lives.
That was the same for them.
Around evening.
I had spent the whole day traveling to various countries and raiding their warehouses for food.
And I had secured enough food to feed all the people of the Karen Continent for five years.
Finally, I arrived at the Blue House [the executive office and official residence of the President of South Korea].
Lee Han-jin was reviewing state affairs, and there were bodyguards around. When I suddenly appeared, they drew their guns.
Clack! Clack!
“Put the guns away.”
“Ah, it was the Chairman.”
The bodyguards straightened up and put their guns away.
President Lee Han-jin and the others didn’t feel much discomfort about using teleportation. Well, it wouldn’t make sense to feel discomfort after having seen another dimension.
Lee Han-jin smiled kindly and dismissed the people. Then he had coffee, a specialty of the Blue House, brought in.
I was about to move to the Karen Continent soon, but I wanted to deliver one piece of news to the President.
Perhaps this would be all I could do for South Korea.
I would pay taxes and increase national power, but all of that depended on how well the political circles utilized it.
In addition, showing off power to foreign countries was the job of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It wasn’t something I should be involved in.
“I’m going to give you a gift before I leave.”
“A gift?”
Lee Han-jin knew that I had been traveling around the world.
So, he had some expectations.
I decided to meet his expectations.
“I have unofficially lifted the economic and weapons development restrictions on Korea.”
“……!”
Lee Han-jin was so surprised that he even spilled his coffee.
Judging by the fact that he didn’t even think about wiping the coffee off the floor, he must have been quite shocked.
“Th, the restrictions have been lifted?”
“It’s an unofficial matter. Even if you sign a treaty, you’ll have to do it in secret.”
“I, is that really possible?”
“I gave them a light threat, and it seems they had no choice.”
“Hahahaha!”
Lee Han-jin jumped up and cheered.
Was it that joyful?
Well, until now, Korea had been oppressed by powerful countries. It had now developed into one of the world’s leading economic powers, but that was only possible because of the Soo Group.
To become a hegemonic power, economic power was important, but military power was also an important indicator. That was one of the most important reasons why Korea had not become a powerful country.
Even the United Kingdom was small but strong, and it was called a powerful country because it developed various weapons without restrictions.
Soon, Korea’s economic power would become the world’s number one. What if weapons restrictions and various military treaties were lifted here?
“Is it possible to gain world hegemony?”
“I will focus on laying the foundation!”
Lee Han-jin’s eyes lit up.
His term was only two years away. I didn’t know how much of a foundation he would lay within that time, but that was a matter for Lee Han-jin to take care of.
It would be nice if South Korea became the world’s number one hegemonic power, but even if it didn’t, there was nothing I could do about it.
Unless my base was on Earth, my base had now moved to the continent.
Soon, the continent would be unified, and I would become the emperor of the unified empire.
There was plenty of land of opportunity, so there was no need to insist on having a base on Earth. Still, I wanted to see my hometown, where I was born and raised, make a name for itself in the world.
“Please do your best. And be sure to contact me if you have any difficulties.”
“Thank you!”
Lee Han-jin’s eyes burned with motivation.
That was enough.
It seemed there was nothing more I could do in Korea.
Whoosh!
The background changed in an instant.
From the basement to the devastated territory of the empire.
The empire was rapidly being restored now, but there were still many places that had not even started restoration.
The central region was relatively better, but the southern region did not even have the capacity to recover.
This was the Karon Marquisate [territory ruled by a marquis], which could be said to be the entrance to the southern region.
The Crystal Empire was basically moving in the direction of abolishing the feudal system [a social system where land is exchanged for service and labor]. They could not have private soldiers, and all troops were returned to the central government.
The same was true of this Karon region.
It was now called the Marquisate, but it would soon be called the Karon region through reorganization.
Already, an administrator had been dispatched to govern Karon.
Instead of nobles, I dispatched the Four Heavenly Kings or high-ranking demons as administrators. They were my summons who would never become corrupt officials.
The soldiers were also made up of vampires or undead.
Once they were stationed on the walls, they did not move. They wore armor and guarded the surroundings like iron walls.
I appeared, but the soldiers did not move at all.
If they were human soldiers, they would have made a big fuss.
I entered the territory.
It was crowded with people trying to make a living, but they all looked weak. This was because there was an absolute shortage of food.
The situation became even more serious in the slums.
People were dying of starvation on the streets, because it had not been long since this place was incorporated into the Crystal Empire.
Now, as I reached the former lord’s castle, which was called the government office, the knights blocked the way.
“Stop.”
It was not possible to undeadify all the troops, and quite a few of the existing soldiers and knights remained in the territory.
If they were summons or dummies that I had summoned, they would have just stood there expressionlessly, but because they were human, they acted like humans.
“No one is allowed to pass without permission.”
“I am the Emperor of the Empire.”
“Ha! You have to say something that makes sense. Do you want to die!?”
Swish!
Suddenly, Richel, one of the Four Heavenly Kings who ruled this place, appeared before my eyes.
“Greetings to His Majesty the Emperor.”
“Gasp! M, Mayor?”
For the time being, I gave the title of Mayor to the person who ruled this place.
When Richel knelt, the knights also knelt.
“Please kill me! I did not recognize His Majesty!”
“It couldn’t be helped. I came alone. I will not hold you accountable.”
“Th, thank you!”
Richel kept his head down and waited for my orders.
“Richel. What’s the situation?”
“It’s serious. People are dying of starvation.”
“Of course, you can’t even think about restoration?”
“Yes.”
“Gather all the people of the territory.”
“Understood.”
Richel answered like a machine.
It wasn’t that the Four Heavenly Kings had no emotions, but Richel seemed to have particularly few emotions. Still, it didn’t matter as long as he handled his work well.
By my order, people began to gather in the city square.
There were more people than I thought.
Among them were young people who had returned from the war, but their numbers were absolutely insufficient. This was because the long war had continued until now.
I simply summoned the vampires and opened the subspace.
“Huh?”
Mumbling!
A commotion in the hall.
They did not know what I was trying to do now.
However, when food sacks began to come out of the subspace in a row, they finally realized.
“It’s food!”
“Wow!”
“Relief rice has arrived!”
I ordered Richel to speak so that everyone could hear.
“Restore the people’s energy with free food for three days. After that, various restoration projects will be carried out, and food will be paid as wages.”
“I will follow the orders of His Majesty the Emperor!”
“H, His Majesty the Emperor?”
The people’s eyes widened.
