Rescue Operation (2)
“Two days, you say?”
“Yes. If we can’t rescue him within that time, we’ll have to take action ourselves.”
“Just looking at it, it seems like it’ll collapse if you bring in heavy equipment.”
“It’s unavoidable. We can’t risk more lives to protect the site where the President is presumed to be trapped.”
“You’re quite cold. Wasn’t Isis one of your people?”
“We have no choice either.”
Two days, they say.
If Rin brings the workers, they can rescue him within two days. But Rin is currently flying in on a private jet. That means she won’t arrive until night.
That means we might need about a day more.
“Let’s make it three days.”
“Three days, huh.”
“I’ll conduct rescue operations until tonight. And personnel with expertise will arrive at night. We need to give them at least two and a half days.”
“Understood. Exactly three days.”
Catherine got in her car and disappeared.
As the Deputy Director of the CIA, she holds a key position, so it would be difficult for her to directly command the operation on-site.
Chief Han Cheol-soo said worriedly.
“Is it possible within three days?”
“It’s dangerous if it goes beyond that anyway.”
“That’s true.”
They were constantly spraying water, concerned about the possibility of the trapped people becoming dehydrated. However, it was uncertain whether it would reach the deep underground, and even if it did, it would be quite contaminated.
If possible, they need to be rescued within a day, not three days.
The sooner they are rescued, the more help the United States will give me. I finished calculating that far.
“I said three days, but I’m planning to rescue them at least by tomorrow night. I just allowed extra time in case something happens.”
“Hahaha! You’re something else. Looking at the collapsed building, the structures are barely holding on. The moment you bring in heavy equipment, it’ll collapse. The experts know that, so they can’t carelessly touch it. You must have a way.”
“Of course.”
The method is simple.
Deploy the Spirit Field to hold the structures and remove the debris as quickly as possible.
Thirty undead could clear it all in a day.
“Until then, are you going to save people alone?”
“I’ll have to rescue the people buried relatively close to the surface.”
“Then I’ll leave it to you.”
“It’s still dangerous, so please stay as far away as possible.”
“Hahaha. We’re putting our lives on the line anyway. Don’t worry.”
“No matter how important something is, it’s over if you lose your life. Please step back. If you have something to say, you can use the radio.”
“Thank you for worrying about this old man’s life.”
“Don’t mention it. I can’t do business comfortably if Chief Han isn’t around. It’ll be troublesome if you leave now.”
With those words, I turned around.
Chief Han Cheol-soo arrived at the situation room where Catherine was in command.
The situation room was set up in an underground bunker and appeared to have been built a long time ago.
There are usually several such facilities around the Presidential Palace as a precaution. It’s a kind of emergency shelter.
It was safe here even from bombings, so the CIA headquarters was set up.
Information was constantly being exchanged here.
“Mr. Lee Yoosung is starting the exploration.”
“Exploring alone? I can’t trust him.”
The reason they initially entrusted it to H Group, which has the best technology in construction, was because the structures were so dangerously scattered.
But H Group brought in President Lee Yoosung.
They strongly argued that no one could keep up with him in terms of science and technology. Catherine approved, considering President Lee Yoosung’s profile and his achievements to date.
And now he’s gone into the debris alone.
Cameras have been installed where people can pass through. So, they could closely monitor what President Lee Yoosung was doing.
“Hmm? What’s that?”
“It looks like exploration equipment.”
Chief Han Cheol-soo had seen that exploration equipment before.
He thought it was quite expensive, but he didn’t expect it to be used here too.
“It’s the equipment used in the Lee Soon-shin Project [a historical project to locate the Turtle Ship, a Korean warship].”
“You’ve arrived.”
“President Lee Yoosung used that equipment to discover the Turtle Ship. It seems he’s trying to use it this time too.”
“What is that equipment?”
“I don’t know either. I just guess it’s expensive equipment.”
“Oh? Something’s caught on camera.”
“What does it say?”
Zhiing!
The camera zooms in on the exploration equipment.
Youngjin Stationery Co., Ltd.
Suggested retail price: 8,000 won [approximately $6 USD]
“It says this.”
“…….”
People wore dumbfounded expressions.
In other words, it’s a toy sold at a stationery store.
Catherine looks at Chief Han Cheol-soo.
“Please explain.”
“Ah……. Hmm. That’s a disguise.”
“A disguise?”
“Whatever’s inside, the shell can be disguised.”
“What is it disguised for?”
“For situations like this.”
“Are you saying he expected us to put a camera on it?”
“If you look at his family history, his daughters are geniuses. His wife also has an extraordinary background. Looking at the things President Lee Yoosung has done so far, they were impossible unless he was a genius. He would have expected this much.”
Chief Han Cheol-soo thought he got through it quite well, although he was a little embarrassed.
‘That guy too. Putting a toy shell on it. Well, he emphasized confidentiality so much.’
Of course, that should be confidential.
It doesn’t make sense to bring a toy in this situation where international affairs and politics are intricately intertwined.
If he put a toy shell on it, aiming for the current situation, then President Lee Yoosung’s political sense must be outstanding.
Because he anticipated all of this.
“Oh? Mr. Lee Yoosung is clearing the debris.”
“Isn’t it impossible to move the debris?”
“But he’s clearing it well. The structures aren’t shaking.”
“Ha……. Is that possible?”
“It’s structurally impossible.”
Of course, there are structural experts here too.
The experts said that it would collapse if they touched even one thing. But President Lee Yoosung was clearing the debris without any problems.
Han Cheol-soo burst into laughter.
“Hahaha! I told you. President Lee Yoosung is an expert in this field.”
Ground floor, explosion site.
Beep! Beep!
The toy bought from the stationery store makes a loud noise.
He brought the one he used before, just replacing the batteries.
Of course, this was a fake, and he was using evil spirits to explore.
Quite a few people were alive. Of course, there were many dead, but roughly half survived. Among them, there were quite a few emergency patients.
People who will die if I don’t save them here.
Then I’ll save the emergency patients first.
Before that, I need to see where the President is buried.
He showed the President’s face to the evil spirits on his cell phone, and more than a hundred evil spirits were passing through the debris.
“He’s here.”
Chwaak!
He unfolds the map.
President Isis was buried in the deepest underground.
She was trapped just before getting on the elevator and is not in life-threatening condition except for a broken arm.
The problem was dehydration.
Water didn’t reach there, so she was enduring life very painfully.
But there was no problem until tomorrow.
She’ll be dehydrated, but she won’t die.
‘It’s going to be quite difficult to clear everything. If Rin arrives at night, I’ll have to work all the way until morning.’
In fact, two days weren’t even necessary.
I only asked for three days in case any variables occurred that would require time.
What will happen if I clear all the debris and rescue the President tomorrow?
CIA Deputy Director Catherine’s face will be worth seeing.
He starts the first rescue.
The structures were intricately intertwined, and if he removed even one thing wrong here, it could all collapse. So, he first puts up a Spirit Field to fix the structures. Then, without hesitation, he removed the debris.
It would be easy if he used magic, but since there were many eyes watching, he just removed the debris by hand as if he were using a modified suit.
“Ugh.”
It was a person buried under the concrete floor, and both legs were broken.
Other than that, there were no other major injuries.
“I’m here to rescue you.”
I didn’t know Arabic, so I spoke in English.
The other person also answered in English.
“Please save me.”
“Don’t worry.”
She looks like a woman in her early 30s.
I don’t know if it’s okay to touch a woman’s body in this country. I don’t know if there are separate female members for the rescue, and they rescue the women.
It’s a matter of life, so they won’t make an issue of it.
First, he put splints on the nearby tree and carried her on his back.
As he came outside, paramedics were waiting.
“Take her to the hospital.”
“Yes!”
From now on, I need to move faster.
There were many seriously injured patients, and the more people I save here, the more my recognition will increase.
He rescued 20 people in a few hours.
I’m also running out of energy, so I think I should rest for a while and then rescue.
The last person he rescued was Minister of National Defense Yassin.
“Ugh. Thank you.”
“Don’t speak.”
He was speaking in Arabic, so I spoke to him in English.
He was in a daze and kept babbling in Arabic. I guess it roughly means thank you.
He comes out and hands him over to the paramedics.
When I first entered this place, people looked at me with disapproval. They couldn’t understand what kind of rescue I was going to do alone.
But now, no one thinks of me strangely anymore. Rather, their eyes had changed to looking at a hero.
There were reporters here too.
War correspondents are people who don’t spare their lives, so they were running around to capture my performance on camera.
Chief Han Cheol-soo approaches.
“Are you okay? Shouldn’t you rest a little?”
“Hoo. I need to eat something.”
“I brought a lunch box.”
It was a sandwich and milk.
His throat was dry, so he gulped down the milk in one go.
“Hoo.”
“There’s more. Drink slowly.”
Chwareuk! Chwareureureuk!
I’m trying to be mindful in my own way. To show a struggling figure as much as possible.
You could say it’s part of politics.
Eating bread and milk, covered in scratches and dust. Anyone who sees it will see it as a noble sacrifice. It’s my own concept.
“Hoo. That was good.”
He decided to take a break and smoke a cigarette with Chief Han Cheol-soo.
“Did you find the President?”
When Han Cheol-soo said in a low voice, I nodded lightly.
“She’s in the deepest place. We need to proceed slowly, or everything could collapse.”
“Oh, that’s good news.”
“By the way, how is that side?”
“Where?”
“I mean the CIA. I think there will be some talk there.”
“Those guys?”
Han Cheol-soo curled up the corners of his mouth.
You could say it’s an expression that his insides are cool [meaning he’s pleased or satisfied].
“Of course, they’re in an uproar. They didn’t imagine you would do this well. You should have seen their faces.”
