Inside Kwin’s mind, everything was empty. Kwin felt lost. He was sitting alone in a wide, empty place. Nothing grew there, and the sky was gray. He just stared ahead, not thinking about anything.
Then, a soft voice whispered like the wind, “Kwin, wouldn’t you like to be strong? Really strong?”
Another voice, gentle as a breeze, added, “Let us join together. You can leave your body behind and be free forever.”
The wind moved around him, sounding kind and inviting.
“No,” Kwin said, his voice dry and weak.
Suddenly, the wind changed. It was no longer soft. It became strong and angry, blowing hard around Kwin in sharp bursts.
“Give me your soul!” It began to threaten Kwin.
“No… I… can’t…” Kwin gasped, feeling weaker and weaker. The wind kept pushing and threatening him. He was so tired and scared. Finally, in a small voice, he whispered, “Fi…ne.” He gave in to the wind.
“Hahaha! Now you will be part of us, Kwin! Part of the Mad Wind!” the wind roared.
Slowly, like smoke being pulled into the air, the edges of Kwin’s hands and feet started to disappear into the swirling wind.
*THUD!*
The ground in Kwin’s mind seemed to shake. A huge crash from outside his mind echoed inside his head, making him jump.
“Who are these guys?” a new voice boomed.
“They dare to stop the Mad Wind!” another angry voice shouted.
“We’ll get them later!”
The Mad Wind quickly pulled the rest of Kwin into itself.
*Thud. Thud.*
*Grrrr.*
Heavy footsteps echoed, and a huge wolf appeared in Kwin’s mind. It didn’t try to be quiet at all.
“Who are you?!” the wind voices cried out.
“I am Sir Black, a great wolf who fights evil!” the wolf declared proudly. “Did you just try to hurt my butler?!” Sir Black spoke in a loud, arrogant voice.
“What?! Fighting evil? Are you calling the Mad Wind just some weak spirit?!” the wind voices yelled back. “We are going to be powerful destroyers! We will destroy everything! We will not forgive you!”
The Mad Wind was filled with dark power and wanted to become a great destroyer. But Sir Black was already a top destroyer, one of the strongest. To Sir Black, the Mad Wind was just a beginner.
“Hmph!” Sir Black snorted, laughing at the wind’s words. “You’re not even a real destroyer yet.”
Just like that, the Mad Wind was gone.
Sir Black sighed loudly. “Ah, no fun at all! I wanted to let my butler name it!” He looked very disappointed that the fight was so easy.
“Hey! You listen to my butler from now on! Understand?” Sir Black said, looking down at Kwin. Kwin was still confused but amazed by Sir Black’s power.
“Yes! Yes, sir! I will be loyal to the butler!” Kwin quickly bowed down, promising to obey. He was so grateful that Sir Black had saved him from the wind.
“No, no, no!” Sir Black interrupted.
“Huh?” Kwin looked up, confused again.
“*I* call him butler,” Sir Black said importantly. “You call him Sejun. Got it?”
“Ah! Yes! I understand! I will be loyal to Sejun!” Kwin nodded quickly.
“Hehe. Good dog,” Sir Black said, sounding pleased.
*Thud. Thud.*
Having heard Kwin’s reply, Sir Black slowly exited Kwin’s mental world.
Thus, Kwin’s madness was neatly cured.
***
Black Tower, 99th floor.
Sejun smiled a little. “What’s wrong with him?” he wondered, looking at Kwin. Kwin had been acting crazy just moments ago, but now he was sleeping peacefully with a smile. Sejun gently put some large, green leaves over Kwin like a blanket.
“Hehe,” Sejun chuckled softly. “Sir Black must have fixed him.”
He carefully picked up Sir Black, who was also sleeping soundly next to Kwin, and put him in his sling bag.
Then, Sejun said to his cow, King Uma, “King Uma, watch over him for a little while.”
“Moo!” King Uma replied. [I will!]
King Uma stood guard over Kwin. Once everything was quiet again,
“Huh?” Sejun felt a strange warmth in his chest. “What’s that?”
He reached inside his shirt and touched something warm and smooth. Suddenly, a bright light flashed out.
*Flash!*
In his hand, he saw a Star Fruit seed glowing brightly.
[Star Fruit Seed Filled with Starlight]
???
Touch it to see what it does!
This seed has felt the power of someone who shines like the stars!
It really wants to grow right now! Plant it quickly before it loses its energy!
“Shines like the stars?” Sejun frowned, confused. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He had no idea what the message was talking about.
*Clang.*
Sejun went into his special storage space to plant the Star Fruit seed.
(Sejun didn’t know it, but the seed had seen Eileen’s beautiful face. It was Eileen’s bright beauty that made the seed wake up. If Sejun knew this was because of Milky, the god of starlight, he would have been very angry at Milky! But Sejun didn’t know.)
*Plop.*
[Your Field Lv. 8 skill is working.]
[You have planted the Star Fruit seed in the body of Kuruger, the 7th Destroyer, the Mountain-Crushing Rock.]
Sejun watched as the seed touched the ground of Kruger’s body. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, with a *crackling* sound, a tiny root pushed out from the seed.
*Crack.*
Suddenly, the seed sprouted and grew incredibly fast. In just seconds, it became a towering tree, reaching high above Sejun. Almost as soon as the tree appeared, small fruits started to grow on its branches.
“Huh?!” Sejun stared in surprise.
Kruger’s body?
He noticed that at the same time the tree grew, Kruger’s huge body was getting smaller and smaller, very quickly.
By the time ten fruits had grown on the tree, Kruger’s body was completely gone.
Suddenly, messages popped up in front of Sejun’s eyes.
[You have defeated Kuruger, the 7th Destroyer, the Mountain-Crushing Rock, who had no soul.]
[You gained 5 trillion experience points!]
[Level Up!]
[You gained 1 bonus stat point!]
[Strength increased by 10!]
More and more messages kept appearing, telling him about experience and level ups. Even though Kruger was just an empty body, it still counted as a victory.
“5 trillion experience points?!” Sejun’s eyes widened. “Oh no…”
He felt a little hopeless. Sejun was level 118. If he leveled up two more times, he would reach level 120 and his special job quest would start. That meant most of this huge amount of experience would be wasted!
Then, another message appeared.
[You have done something amazing! You defeated Kuruger, the 7th Destroyer, the Mountain-Crushing Rock, who had no soul!]
[Because of this great achievement, your title >Destroyer Hunter> has become >Skilled Destroyer Hunter>!]
Another message popped up.
[You have done something amazing by getting so much experience at once!]
A rush of power filled Sejun. He felt stronger and faster. A message appeared in his mind, telling him he had reached level 121 because he finished the job quest.
His body felt different, lighter and stronger all at once. He knew his strength, speed, and everything else had become much better as a reward.
Following this, a new achievement message appeared, and Sejun completed the job quest with a massive amount of experience points.
He leveled up.
He acquired 1 bonus stat.
His strength increased by 10.
He had reached level 127.
Sejun chuckled, a happy sound deep in his chest. “All that hard work paid off!” He grinned, feeling the incredible power surging through him.
Theo, watching Sejun’s joyful face, purred, “If you are happy, I am happy too, meow! It’s good to see you so strong, Sejun!”
“Alright. Shall we harvest, then?” Sejun asked.
“Let’s do it, meow!” Theo replied.
Sejun walked to the Starfruit tree, its golden fruit glowing warmly. He reached out and gently touched a fruit. It felt smooth and slightly warm, just like the starfruit he remembered from Earth. With a soft twist and a gentle *pop*, he pulled the fruit from the tree. A pleasant warmth spread through him as he harvested it, and he felt a little more skilled at harvesting.
“Huh?!” Sejun exclaimed.
A cracking sound came from the top of the Starfruit tree, pointing towards the opening in the subspace warehouse roof.
Then, with a soft *poof*, a ball of bright light shot upwards, leaving a shimmering trail like stardust.
*Bang!* The light burst open in the sky, not with a loud noise, but with a beautiful flash, like a new star being born. A message appeared in Sejun’s mind: “You have achieved a great thing! You lit the first star in the Black Tower’s night sky!” He felt a sense of wonder. Along with this, he gained a new title: “The One Who Lit the Star.”
“Will the night sky be a little brighter now?” Sejun wondered.
Sejun looked in the direction of the star, which was not yet visible because it was daytime, and checked the newly acquired titles.
>Title: Skilled Hunter of Extinction< -Weakens the abilities of the Apostles of Extinction within 200m by 25%. The Skilled Hunter of Extinction was the same as before, except for the changed range and power. >Title: The One Who Lit the Star< -Divinity increases by 1 each time a star is lit in the sky. The second title he checked next. "Divinity increases by 1 each time a star is lit?!" Sejun exclaimed. Currently, the only way Sejun can increase his divinity is [The divine blood has passed through the heart of Dark, the God of Darkness.] [Divinity increases by 0.0001.] 0.0001, which he gets every 30 seconds when his blood circulates through his body and passes through Dark's heart, is all he gets. Each time he lit a star, he felt a small increase in his Divinity. Divinity was a mysterious power, something like spiritual energy. He knew it was very hard to increase; normally, it would take days just to raise it by one point. Sejun wasn't sure exactly what Divinity did, but he felt it was important, like a hidden strength waiting to be unlocked. So, he decided to gather as much as he could. He harvested the fruit where the star resided. So, he harvested the remaining 9 Starfruit fruits. Divinity increases by 1 due to the effect of >Title: The One Who Lit the Star>.
Added 9 stars to the sky and raised his divinity by 9.
At that moment,
A quest has occurred.
Quest: Add 2 more stars to complete the twelve Zodiac stars that will govern the night sky of the Black Tower.
Reward: >Authority: Starlink>
“Huh?” Sejun asked.
Add two more stars?
‘If I transplant the tree into Alice’s body?’ Sejun wondered.
Sejun hurriedly looked at the Starfruit tree.
Unfortunately, the tree, having fulfilled its mission, was crumbling into dust.
This was the fate of all transcendent seeds that grew into trees. Once the fruit was harvested, they crumbled into dust and disappeared.
Should he wait for the next Starfruit seed for the two stars?
Just as Sejun was about to coolly give up and harvest the acorns from the acorn tree,
Suddenly, Sejun heard voices in his mind. “Sejun-nim, please! Let me shine for you! I, Ice Cube, will be the brightest star!” Another voice chimed in, “Yes, Sejun-nim! I will light your way from above!”
Sejun looked down at the two Sacred Stones, Ice Cube and the other one, Sacred Stone Piercing. He remembered reading that Sacred Stones were said to be fallen stars. *Stars… could they become stars again?* A thought sparked in his mind. “Wait a minute,” he murmured, “Could I use them to make the last two stars?” A hopeful feeling grew in him.
“But how do I make you guys into stars?” Sejun asked.
“-With about 5 divinity…” Ice Cube said.
“-Me too…” Sacred Stone Piercing said.
“Okay. I understand,” Sejun said.
All the divinity he earned today was going to fly away.
As Sejun permitted, white light flowed from Sejun’s body into the two Sacred Stones.
Sacred Stone Ice Cube absorbs 5 of Black Tower Sejun’s divinity. Sacred Stone Ice Cube regains its star memories and returns to the sky.
“-Thank you, Sejun-nim! I will definitely repay you!” Ice Cube said.
Sacred Stone Piercing absorbs 5 of Black Tower Sejun’s divinity. Sacred Stone Piercing regains its star memories and returns to the sky.
“-Thank you, Sejun-nim! Hail Sejun-nim!” Sacred Stone Piercing said.
The two Sacred Stones thanked Sejun and flew towards the sky.
Divinity increases by 1 due to the effect of >Title: The One Who Lit the Star>.
Divinity increases by 1 due to the effect of >Title: The One Who Lit the Star>.
Following this, as the two became stars, Sejun gained divinity due to the title effect.
Is this a payback?
Giving back 1 for 5 divinity, so 20%, doesn’t seem too bad.
Just as Sejun was calculating the payback rate,
The twelve Zodiac stars that will govern the night sky of the Black Tower have been completed.
The quest has been completed.
>Authority: Starlink> has been granted as a quest completion reward.
“Oh!” Sejun exclaimed.
It’s an Authority!
Sejun checked the newly acquired Authority.
>Authority: Starlink< Temporarily connects with a star whose name you know. You can use the star's abilities while connected. "Is it good? Starlink," Sejun wondered. I should try connecting with Ice Cube. Sejun focused, using the Starlink Authority and choosing Ice Cube. Instantly, his mind was flooded with images, too many to understand. It was like trying to see the whole world at once through Ice Cube's eyes. "Wait!" Ice Cube's voice cried in his head, "Sejun-nim, your mind isn't strong enough yet!" A sharp pain shot through Sejun's head. "Ugh...!" he gasped, his vision blurring. The overwhelming flood of information was too much. Darkness closed in, and he fell to the ground, unconscious. His mental strength, his mind's power, was simply not ready to connect with a star. Meanwhile, far away in the Temple of the Creator God, a powerful god stood before his loyal helper, Emila Ibeners. "Emila," the Creator God said, his voice serious, "It's been a while. I need your help to find out who is spreading the rumor that I have run away." "Creator God-nim!" Emila replied, surprised and ready to serve.
