The Temple of the Creator.
The beads clicked softly as the Creator moved them. In the quiet Temple, the Creator sat, his fingers deftly moving colorful beads. As always, he was weaving them together, building a picture.
Suddenly, the Creator paused. He looked closely at the picture he was making.
“What is this…?” he murmured, his voice filled with surprise.
He was in the picture! He saw himself competing with another Creator to finish their creation first.
This had to be an important memory.
“But I won that competition,” the Creator thought. “So why is this memory showing me losing?”
The Creator was completely confused. What was the other Creator trying to tell him with this memory of losing? The picture alone gave no answers.
But one thing was becoming clear: this memory, this competition, seemed to be the start of the other Creator’s downfall, the beginning of his corruption.
>Vix< "Right, Chairman Park! I'm going to go teach those monsters a lesson!" Kkuengi barked happily, [Kkuengi will be back soon!] Explosions echoed from the formation of Calamities rushing towards the fortress walls. They were instantly in the middle of the enemy formation, attacking fiercely. "Follow Theo!" someone yelled. "Follow Kkuengi!" shouted another. The citizens of the city-state Mefol also opened the city gates and rushed out. The Ogres Theo and Kkuengi had just fought were attacking Mefol's fortress walls. Sejun and his friends had defeated them. King Messius of Mefol was very grateful. He welcomed them warmly and treated them like honored guests. Even as they were being welcomed, five more Ogres appeared, marching towards Mefol with a horde of Calamities. Without hesitation, Theo and Kkuengi stepped forward to face them. Blackie, a small, dark creature, scampered excitedly behind the citizens. [Heehee. Follow the great Blackie, Captain!] A short while later. [System Message: You have gained a huge amount of experience points from Theo and Kkuengi's battle! System 371: Still doing nothing, Sejun? Amazing!] With this much experience, everyone must like me now, right? I don't have to worry about being kicked out anymore, right? Sejun didn't realize that people were actually getting more annoyed with him. "Alright, you two did great. Let's load them into the magic storage now." "Got it, Nya!" Sejun and his party collected the corpses of the Calamities and returned to Mefol. "Messius, we have a special package to help you get rid of these Calamities." "You really should buy it! It will help you a lot, Nya!" [Hehehe. Everything Sejun sells is good! You really should buy it!] He began his sales pitch in earnest. For the first Calamity, the Locust, he suggested Strong Scallions. For the second Calamity, the Giant Bloodsucking Leech, he offered wine made from special grapes. For the third Calamity, the Fire Moth, he suggested sticky corn to trap the Fire Moths. They didn't have special crops to fight the Petrifying Spiders or Slimes. Instead, he offered Special Pineapples and Scorching Cherries. These fruits could explode like bombs! The people of Vix were strong enough to fight even the fifth Calamity. But there were just too many Calamities. The Calamities were still rapidly increasing in number, devouring everything edible in >Vix<. "V-Very well! I will purchase everything!" Maybe it was Sejun's smooth talking, or maybe it was Theo and Kkuengi's scary looks, but King Messius bought everything right away. Having sold the crops needed to exterminate the Calamities to Messius, "Now, I'm selling food." Sejun made food and sold it to the citizens of Mefol. "Come and get Chairman Park's amazing food, Nya!" Theo called out. Kkuengi barked happily, [Hehehe. Our Daddy's food is delicious!] Theo and Kkuengi helped Sejun attract customers. Blackie growled and stood in front of the roasted sweet potato jerky, blocking anyone from getting close. [Grrrr. Don't even think about buying *my* sweet potato jerky!] "I want the spicy chicken." "Ah, that's made with Locust meat. It's 10,000 Top Coins. It makes you stronger, you know." "10,000?! That's too much!" Theo sighed loudly. "No, no, it's a great price for Chairman Park's amazing food, Nya! Just buy it!" "...Fine, fine, I'll take it." Sejun was a bit pushy, but he made money. And the people of Mefol were safer and stronger. It worked out well for everyone. As Sejun continued selling his Calamity Packages and food in Mefol, evening came. Sejun and his friends went to the room King Messius gave them and got ready for the night. Blackie's Mental World. Sejun offered roasted sweet potato jerky to the spirits of this mental world. "Please, everyone, eat this and forgive Blackie and his family." "I'm really sorry." "Sorry." The Blackie Family also followed Sejun and offered sincere apologies. "Please forgive us after eating the grilled fish our great Hybrid Chairman Park personally grilled, Nya!" "Forgive us after eating this honey!" Theo and Kkuengi also helped Sejun ask for forgiveness for the Blackie Family. "I'll forgive you. But give me one more of those." "I'll forgive you too. Just one grilled fish for me…" Thanks to the efforts of Sejun and his party, the spirits forgave the Blackie Family. As the spirits forgave Blackie, the dark energy of corruption that had been inside them began to leave. It faded away as Sejun looked at it. But then, a different sound – a wet 'gurgle' – broke the silence. One piece of corruption, unlike the others, didn't vanish when Sejun looked at it. Instead, it began to twist and change, forming a dark shape. Flash! Golden light blazed from Sejun's eyes. Whoosh! -Kraaah! The dark shape screamed, a sound of pure pain, as it burst into flames and vanished. Sejun was now much stronger than before. He destroyed the corruption with ease. This new power came from the Creator's gift. "Heh heh. Acting tough." Sejun was feeling proud of himself for defeating the corruption. "Nya?!" Normally, Theo would have immediately pounced, complaining that his face looked rotten, but this time, he just stared blankly at Sejun. "Chairman Park, you're so cool, Nya!" It was because he thought Sejun looked cool. Had Sejun become cooler? Or had Theo's standards lowered? It was hard to say. Now that the corruption was gone, they could easily apologize to the spirits. Just as things seemed peaceful, Sejun coughed. Creak. The old wooden door to the room where Sejun and his friends were sleeping creaked open, letting a sliver of light spill into the dimly lit space. “Your Majesty, they are all asleep,” a hushed voice whispered. King Messius of Mefol, followed by his men, cautiously entered the room. “Good. Are you absolutely sure they're asleep?” Messius asked, his voice barely audible. “Yes, Your Majesty. We administered a potent sleeping draught, strong enough to knock out even the largest monsters. They won't wake for days,” came the reply. “Excellent. Prepare the master-servant contract magic at once,” Messius commanded. “Yes, Your Majesty.” Messius planned to use a master-servant spell on Theo and Kkueng, binding them to his will. His goal was to strengthen his rule and protect Mefol. He had deliberately showered Sejun and his group with hospitality, hoping to lull them into a false sense of security. However, Messius had overlooked one crucial detail. Theo could hear conversations from the daytime, and Batbat could hear those from the nighttime. (Batbat. Who is that? Did they just say they were going to force a master-servant contract on our Sejun?!) Batbat thought, his eyes narrowing. Batbat, who was guarding Sejun, turned to Messius and asked, his voice low and dangerous, “Who are you?” Messius dismissed Batbat with a wave of his hand, assuming he posed no threat. “It's none of your concern. Subdue him quietly.” “Yes, Your Majesty. Wind Press!” “Paralyze!” “Slow!” The mages unleashed their spells on Batbat at Messius's command. However, Batbat's scales were those of a great golden dragon, granting him immense magic resistance. The spells had no effect. (Batdol! Batdol!) Batbat roared, preparing to strike back. Thud. With a powerful body slam, Batbat knocked everyone unconscious. (Batbat. Now we have to stamp them. I've always wanted to try this! Bae hee hee.) Batbat gleefully stamped his paw print on the foreheads of Messius and his subordinates. Of course, it had no real effect. The next morning, Sejun woke up groggily. “Ugh. Huh?!” He found Messius and his men tied up with ropes, snoring softly. “Why are these people…?” Sejun wondered aloud. (Batbat. Sejun, these guys tried to force a master-servant contract on you! They're bad guys!) “Master-servant contract?” Sejun repeated, his voice rising in anger. They were trying to enslave me?! he thought, a cold fury washing over him. From Messius's perspective, it was a bit unfair. The master-servant contract spell required significant resources, and Sejun and the Blackie family, who seemed easy to control, were not his primary targets. A little later, Theo stormed into the room, his fur bristling. “Haa! Haa! Haa! How dare you try to enslave our great Chairman Park?! I can't forgive you, nyaang!” Theo hissed, reaching level 3 of his angry hiss. Stamp. Stamp. Stamp. Theo stamped his seal on the foreheads of Messius and his subordinates. Thus, Messius and his subordinates became full-time employees of Sejun Company. “You guys will be eternal rookies from now on, nyaang!” Theo declared, adding the punishment of eternal rookie status. It seemed he was angrier about their attempt to enslave Sejun than any threat to Sejun's life. “Vice President Theo, that's a bit cruel,” Sejun said, trying to mediate. “Is that so, nyaang?! Then you'll only be rookies for 100 years, nyaang!” Theo conceded. With Sejun's intervention, the rookie period was reduced from a lifetime to 100 years. As Messius became a full-time employee of Sejun Company, Theo's eyes gleamed with greed. “Puhu hut. Messius, lead us to the treasure vault, nyaang!” Theo demanded. “Yes…” Messius replied, defeated. Theo confidently plundered Messius's wealth. “Heu heu heu. Let's see what's here?” Theo chuckled, rubbing his paws together. “Puhu hut. Chairman Park, let's take everything that's worth money, nyaang!” “Of course,” Sejun agreed with a smile. Thanks to their newfound wealth, the Sejun family's stay in Mefol was extended by a week. Five days later, Sejun gazed into the distance. “Is it over once we catch that guy?” Sejun asked, pointing to the three planet-destroying turtles in the distance. “Puhu hut. I think so, nyaang! Kkueng, go and bring them here, nyaang!” Theo instructed. Kkueng! Kkueng flew towards the planet-destroying turtles. Shuffle... Shuffle... The planet-destroying turtles hurriedly shrunk themselves and began to flatter the Doom Beast Kkueng. As the battle concluded, Blackie puffed out his chest with pride. Kee hee heet. Kking! [Hee hee. It's all thanks to the great Blackie!] “Oh my. Our Blackie's face looks very grumpy?” Sejun teased, rubbing Blackie's cheeks. Kking! Kking! [No! Great Blackie's face is not grumpy!] A little later, Sejun gathered his group. “Then let's go back,” he said. They returned to the Black Tower. [Arrived at the 99th floor of the Black Tower.] “There were fewer disasters than I thought,” Sejun mused, looking at the contents of the subspace warehouse. It only filled half of the magical storage space. I want to be a landlord soon... he thought, disappointed that he hadn't faced more challenges. “Aileen, I'm back,” he announced, informing Aileen of his return. [The tower's administrator says he is glad you returned safely.] [The tower's administrator says you have worked hard and the other leaders are waiting for you.] “The leaders?” Sejun asked, surprised. [The tower's administrator says they will come to see you soon.] While Sejun was talking with Aileen, the dragons of the Four Dragon Society and the Five Dragon Society flew towards him. Flap. Flap. -Sejun, welcome. Would you come to our Golden Tower for a while and deal with some disasters? -Our Red Tower too... -Our White Tower too... The great dragons asked Sejun to deal with the disasters that had invaded the worlds connected to their towers. Without Sejun's help, it would take a long time to resolve the disasters, and the risk of destruction would be high. “Heu heu heu. Of course. I should definitely take care of it,” Sejun replied with a grin. Fortunately, there seemed to be plenty of disasters left to handle.
