“Isn’t this place… expensive?”
His mother couldn’t help but marvel at the hotel’s grandeur.
These were places she usually only saw on TV, and the thought of staying here made her worry if it was too much for Sung-hyun.
No matter Sung-hyun’s position, he was still an academy student, and she doubted he had any significant income.
“Mom, seriously, my brother is more amazing than we think, okay?”
“Still…”
“Don’t worry. I can earn more than what we’ll spend today in just one day.”
Sung-hyun’s expression was genuine, so his mother put her worries aside for a moment and followed him into the hotel.
“Welcome.”
“Hello, I have a reservation under Kim Sung-hyun.”
“Yes, please wait a moment.”
The front desk employee checked something briefly and then handed Sung-hyun a card key.
“We hope you have a pleasant stay.”
“Yes, thank you.”
Sung-hyun took the card key and checked the room number.
“Huh?”
It was a different room number than the one he had originally reserved.
“Excuse me, I think this isn’t the room I reserved.”
At Sung-hyun’s question, the front desk employee replied with a smile.
“There was a separate arrangement for Kim Sung-hyun Hunter.”
“Ah, is that so?”
Since this hotel was uniquely affiliated with the Association nationwide, it seemed the fact that Sung-hyun had made a reservation had already reached their ears.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Have a wonderful time.”
Holding the changed card key, he went to find the room, which was on a higher floor than the originally reserved one.
“Oh my, goodness…”
As soon as she entered the room, his mother exclaimed in admiration, and his sister was no different.
With multiple rooms, a view of the sea, and furniture and equipment so clean and luxurious, it was perfectly prepared to live a lifetime without lifting a finger.
“Shall we go to the spa tonight, and watch a movie now? Or go to the amusement park?”
There were many things to enjoy, and now there was plenty of time to enjoy them all.
“Let’s do it all.”
At his sister’s simple conclusion, his mother and Sung-hyun chuckled and unpacked their luggage.
On the way to see a movie, he found out that the room they were staying in cost about 800,000 won [approximately $600 USD] per night.
‘I wasn’t expecting this when I made the reservation, but I can’t say I dislike it.’
Since he was still attending the academy, he wasn’t receiving anything substantial from the Association, so this felt much more significant.
“Brother, that movie is showing.”
“What movie?”
Unlike Sung-hyun, who usually wasn’t interested in movies, Hye-in was quite interested.
“The Healer movie.”
“…There’s a movie like that?”
Amused by her brother’s bewildered expression, Hye-in continued.
“It was recently released, but you only got that ability recently, right? That means they made it long before.”
“So, you want to watch that?”
“Yeah. It looks interesting.”
It felt somewhat novel.
Was it made into a movie because it was an ability that didn’t exist in the world in the first place?
“Well, okay. Let’s watch it.”
For some reason, he felt a bit embarrassed, but perhaps he could gain some knowledge about the ability from the movie?
People’s imaginations were quite remarkable, and there might be usage methods that even Sung-hyun didn’t know.
‘We could just enjoy ourselves today.’
Sung-hyun chuckled at his own tendency to relate even watching a movie to his ability and headed to the theater.
Perhaps because it was a movie theater directly operated by the hotel, it was on a different level from the well-known public theaters.
In front of the giant screen, there were private viewing rooms.
“Can we just go into any room?”
Since there wasn’t just one theater and movies were playing 24 hours a day, it didn’t seem like they had assigned seating.
The rooms with people inside had a red light above the entrance, and the structure required a card key to open the door, so there seemed to be no worry of someone else entering midway.
“That spot looks good.”
The spot his sister pointed to was the best place to enjoy a movie.
“Okay. Let’s go.”
When they entered the room, they could order whatever food they wanted, and there was equipment powered by crystals to provide unlimited drinks.
“What should we eat?”
“I’ll just have popcorn, Mom.”
“I want this, and this, and that…”
Unlike his mother, Hye-in pointed to almost every item on the menu, causing Sung-hyun to let out a hollow laugh and say,
“Just order everything you want. Don’t hold back. We can take the leftovers to the room.”
“Cough, cough. I’m just curious about the taste…”
With the order placed, they were about to spend the remaining time before the movie started when someone knocked on the door.
“Who is it?”
It couldn’t be the food they ordered, which meant it was one of the other guests, but surely the door was showing a red light indicating someone was inside.
“I’ll go see.”
When he opened the door, a man who looked to be about Sung-hyun’s age was standing there, staring at Sung-hyun with confident eyes.
“What’s the matter?”
“It’s nothing much, but I’d like to watch the movie in this spot… Could you give it up?”
“Excuse me? There are plenty of other spots besides this one.”
“Isn’t this the best spot to watch from? That’s why I’m asking.”
For some reason, the man’s expression felt like he had another purpose.
As if something terrible would happen if they didn’t give up the spot.
“…Okay, sure.”
Not wanting to cause trouble with his family present, Sung-hyun readily agreed to give up the spot.
“It’s not just that…”
As he turned to explain to his family, the man handed something to Sung-hyun.
“What… is this?”
“Wouldn’t you call it a small token of appreciation?”
What the man handed him was a wad of cash.
It felt like he was trying to buy the spot with money.
“No, thank you.”
“Haha, you don’t have to be so formal. It’s just a ‘small’ token.”
The man’s actions weren’t just about buying the spot with money.
He was trying to put a monetary value on Sung-hyun’s consideration.
“Forget what I said.”
Sung-hyun lightly pushed the man out the door and was about to close it when the man grabbed the closing door and said,
“…You shouldn’t have unnecessary pride. Do you know who I am?”
It seemed like this kind of thing always happened no matter where he went.
People flaunting their power, people flaunting their authority.
“I don’t care who you are. The movie is about to start, so please go back.”
“You’ll regret this.”
The man wore a bitter smile and left.
“What’s wrong?”
“Ah, it’s nothing.”
“It’s starting!”
Fortunately, the movie started before the atmosphere could worsen, and Sung-hyun focused on the movie, forgetting what had just happened.
He wondered if he could get any hints related to his ability, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
“Sniff… it’s so… touching…”
“…”
His mother and sister were wiping away tears.
Since the protagonist had healing abilities, it seemed they had put more emphasis on the emotional side, and it seemed to have worked.
“You ordered like you were going to eat everything, but you didn’t even touch it?”
“B-but… it’s too sad…”
Still wiping away tears, Sung-hyun asked them to pack up the remaining food and came out of the room.
“Hey, did you enjoy the movie?”
The man from before was waiting in front of the door.
“Sigh… let’s stop this. Aren’t we here to relax?”
He tried to brush it off, feeling a wave of exhaustion, but the man didn’t seem to have any intention of doing so.
“You’re sighing? Do you know who my father is?”
“Well, do you? Do you know who I am?”
At the unexpected question, the man showed a moment of bewilderment.
Then, as if convinced that someone he didn’t recognize couldn’t be someone important, he sneered and replied.
“The fact that I don’t know you means you’re nobody.”
“Brother, who is it?”
“Who is it?”
His mother and sister also came out of the room, and Sung-hyun forced a smile and replied.
“It’s just someone I know. It seems like he has something to say to me, so why don’t you go to the spa first?”
“Alright. Hello, I’m Sung-hyun’s mother.”
The man responded to his mother’s greeting with only a slight nod.
“Take care of Mom and go.”
“Okay. Come quickly.”
His sister realized that their relationship wasn’t a good one and quickly led their mother away.
“Judging by your appearance, it seems like you came here with quite a bit of effort…”
His mother and sister were dressed casually.
They didn’t prefer luxury brands, so of course, they weren’t wearing any.
“I did make an effort.”
“What. You’re quite honest, aren’t you?”
“I forced myself to make time.”
“…What a boast.”
The man turned around and gestured, and black-suited bodyguards appeared.
“What are you trying to do?”
“Don’t be too scared.”
The bodyguard made a call, and soon a middle-aged man arrived.
“What’s going on?”
“It’s nothing much, but shouldn’t the hotel only accept guests who are of a certain class?”
“Excuse me? What are you talking about…”
The hotel manager looked back and forth between the man and Sung-hyun.
Perhaps he couldn’t see clearly because it was dark earlier, but when the manager recognized Sung-hyun’s face, he was startled and tried to say something.
“Sir, this person is…”
“I won’t say it twice. Get him out of this hotel by today.”
“I’m sorry, but that’s impossible…”
“Ha… Do you not know who I am? Don’t make me say it twice. If you want to keep your job.”
The man finished speaking and left, and Sung-hyun let out a deep sigh.
“Hunter Kim. I’m sorry. I apologize on his behalf…”
The manager bowed deeply and apologized, and Sung-hyun shook his head and replied.
“It’s alright. These things happen.”
“Just in case, I’m telling you, there’s no need for you to leave the hotel at all. And I’ll make sure you don’t run into that guest again.”
“I understand. Please make sure there are no more issues.”
Sung-hyun didn’t offer thanks for the promise to take care of it.
Because those were things he deserved to receive.
“I apologize once again.”
The manager said he would make sure they didn’t run into each other again, but Sung-hyun already knew that was impossible.
They couldn’t control the movements of their guests.
‘I don’t think I need to worry too much about it.’
Based on Sung-hyun’s experience, people like that were usually endlessly weak to those with more power or strength than themselves.
And unfortunately for the man, Sung-hyun had quite a bit of power at the moment.
If his family was confident enough to act like that, they would already have information about him, but if they didn’t even have that, they were either from an insignificant place or just reckless fools relying on their background.
