For the past two weeks, Marquis Valentino had been waiting eagerly for Roman Dmitry, listening to words that made him even more excited.
“Young Master Roman has never missed a deadline like this before,” Hans said. “Since there doesn’t seem to be any problem in the workshop, it seems the work is simply taking longer than expected.”
“After checking inside the workshop using mana, we detected a massive explosion of energy,” Felix added. “Even I, as a Phoenix magician familiar with the power of fire, couldn’t handle that power. So, I can’t say for sure what the situation is.”
Hans and Felix spoke. What they said led to one clear idea in Valentino’s mind.
‘Even the master of the Phoenix Magic Tower, who knows fire magic so well, can’t handle that power! Roman Dmitry must be working on something amazing that no one has ever seen before. Why else would he be fifteen days late? I really want to see it quickly. Just how incredible is this thing he’s making, putting so much effort into it?’
Salamander. Blaze. Darkness.
The three swords that Roman Dmitry made were so perfect that each one was better than the last.
Blaze was much better than Salamander, and Darkness was even better than Blaze.
So, how great would this new sword be?
The way Roman Dmitry worked felt like a performance by a skilled artist.
Valentino’s steps were light. The thought of seeing the sword made the waiting feel less painful, and he headed straight to the inner castle where Roman Dmitry was working.
However, when he arrived, Hans gave him news that was a big shock.
“I’m sorry, Marquis, but Young Master Roman went to the training ground as soon as he left the workshop. I don’t think you can see him right now.”
“Ah.”
Marquis Valentino sat down heavily in his seat, looking as if he had lost everything he owned.
This was too much to handle.
Above the training ground, Roman Dmitry stood. Looking at the sword that shone brilliantly in the sunlight, Roman Dmitry felt, for the first time, that it was perfect.
‘This sword… it’s beyond anything I ever created before, even in my past life. It’s almost like magic itself.’
Even the famous swords of Baek Jung-hyuk, which had caused such a stir in the martial world, weren’t as perfect as this one.
It wasn’t just because Roman Dmitry was so skilled. Using the Divine Flame Art and the Flame Demon’s Fire to make the sword had taken him to a completely new level as an artisan.
Swish.
It was beautiful.
Looking at the sword, he felt inspired.
‘I can create a sword technique based on the Divine Flame Art, like the Flame Demon’s Fire.’
That was why he had come to the training ground right after finishing the sword.
After working non-stop in the workshop, he suddenly had a strong desire to create a new martial art.
He held up the sword, imagining an enemy, and swung it.
‘First Form, Accept the Raging Flames.’
Fwoosh.
Fwoooosh.
A red aura rose from the sword, creating intense heat that could instantly cut down the enemy in front of him.
At the same time, the cut turned black. The enemy couldn’t bleed, but they screamed in terrible pain.
First Form, Fire. It was a basic attack.
Later, when many enemies appeared around him, Roman Dmitry released the heat from the sword.
‘Second Form, Sweep Away Enemies with Raging Flames.’
Whoosh.
Fwoooosh!
The wind blew. The flames swept around with the wind, and even enemies who weren’t touched by the sword felt the heat.
It was very destructive.
The enemies attacking Roman Dmitry were engulfed in flames, making their numbers useless.
Second Form, Fire Wind. He named them as he went.
As he finished the forms with these names, the imaginary enemies disappeared and a huge monster appeared.
It rushed in and swung an axe at Roman Dmitry.
‘Third Form, Condense the Power of Flame to Pierce a Single Point.’
Fwoooosh.
Heat, so red it seemed to blind the eyes, pierced the heart of the giant monster.
Thud- Stagger.
The monster stumbled. Even its tough outer shell couldn’t stop it.
Like lava digging into the ground, the intense heat melted the outer shell and destroyed the heart inside.
The monster fell like a puppet with its strings cut.
No matter how big it was, it couldn’t live without its heart.
Third Form, Blazing Fire.
Now it was the last one.
Roman Dmitry released mana at the hundreds of monsters.
‘Fourth Form, Ultimate Explosion.’
Boom!
Fwoosh, Fwoooosh.
Rumble.
Fourth Form, Flame Demon.
It was a disaster.
The surging mana turned into flames that roared and consumed everything in their path, like a dragon’s breath.
It was much more powerful than Fire Wind.
It used the heat of Blazing Fire like Fire Wind, and the enemies weren’t just burned, but turned into black ashes and crumbled away.
With that, he put down the sword.
“The name of this shall be the Divine Flame Sword Technique.”
A sword technique based on the Divine Flame Art, using the Flame Demon’s Fire.
A new sword technique was born.
The desire for a new martial art, which he thought had disappeared, was revived as he experienced a new world.
The Divine Flame Sword Technique wasn’t for Roman Dmitry.
Since he had already mastered the perfect Heavenly Demon Sword Art, he didn’t plan to replace it with the Divine Flame Sword Technique.
However, he knew who it would be perfect for.
He sheathed the sword.
From now on, it was time to find the right people to use the sword.
Roman Dmitry had crafted three practice swords, each an experiment leading to his ultimate creation.
Of these swords, three had already been sold to other people.
Roman Dmitry planned to visit the owner of Darkness first, but Hans stopped him.
“Young Master,” Hans said, “shouldn’t we meet Marquis Valentino first? He has been staying in Dmitry for two weeks, waiting for you. It’s hard for me to see him so sad. If I tell him to wait another day, Marquis Valentino might lose all hope.”
Roman Dmitry didn’t think about what was happening outside the smithy walls.
Knowing Marquis Valentino’s personality, meeting him first seemed wise.
“I understand. Take me to Marquis Valentino.”
“Yes, Young Master, this is good. Marquis Valentino has been so eager to see you.”
Hans led the way.
Finally, the moment Marquis Valentino had longed for – a meeting with Roman Dmitry – was about to happen.
There was no small talk.
Neither Marquis Valentino nor Roman Dmitry cared about pleasantries; they wanted to discuss the ‘new sword’ immediately.
Valentino’s voice was tight with excitement as he finally spoke. “So, have you completed the sword?”
His face was filled with desire.
He kept swallowing nervously.
As he waited for Roman Dmitry’s answer, Marquis Valentino’s heart pounded as if it would burst.
“Yes,” Roman Dmitry replied. “I am happy with how it turned out.”
He glanced at Hans.
Hans nodded and presented the sword that had been prepared.
“As promised to Marquis Valentino, I am giving you the chance to buy the sword. The method will be the same as before: an auction. If you pay enough, you will own the sword, but I won’t let it go cheaply. You can look at the sword here if you want.”
This was the first of the practice swords.
Because he knew about the auction already, Marquis Valentino received the sword with trembling hands.
Valentino took the sword, and a single word burst from his lips – ‘Wow.’
Collectors develop a keen eye for quality, even without being experts.
Just by looking at it, Roman Dmitry’s sword seemed amazing.
The blade was smooth and the edge was so sharp it made you shiver, and the occasional glimpses of red energy looked like a unique symbol.
Most of all, the feeling was extraordinary.
Swords that take magic well have a special reaction, and Roman Dmitry’s sword showed just that.
“If it’s not too much to ask, can I use a magic test?”
“As you wish.”
“Thank you.”
He subtly took out a device to measure magic sensitivity.
It was a new product developed a month ago, and the test levels, divided into five stages, were known for their accuracy.
Marquis Valentino had paid a lot of money for this device just for today.
It was worth it to test Roman Dmitry’s sword.
Magic flowed into the sword.
The test levels were easy to understand.
The stages showed how much magic the sword absorbed. First, he put in magic equal to stage 1.
The sword glowed brightly.
Seeing it shine as if it hadn’t absorbed enough magic even after taking all of stage 1’s magic, Marquis Valentino smiled.
If it was a sword made by Roman Dmitry, whom he respected, he expected it to handle at least stage 3 without problems.
As expected.
Stage 2, stage 3.
It took in all the magic instantly.
Since stage 4 was much stronger, he looked nervous this time.
But.
“Wow.”
It was the same as before.
It took in all the magic, not letting any escape, just like stage 1. At this point, it was clear this sword was very valuable.
Marquis Valentino tried stage 5 without hesitating.
The device maker said stage 5 was incredibly powerful, and what he saw next amazed him.
Even stage 5.
It was sucked in completely.
He was truly impressed by the sword, which showed no signs of being unstable.
‘Roman Dmitry has made a treasure that people will talk about for years.’
His heart was pounding.
He started to think hard.
With the sword being so much better than he expected, he didn’t know how much he would have to pay to win it at the auction.
The winning bid for Blaze was 1200 gold.
Would twice that amount, 2400 gold, be enough?
Probably not.
Even with thousands of gold, he wasn’t sure he could win.
Marquis Valentino asked.
“Could you tell me the name of the sword?”
“The name of the sword is Third No-Name.”
Marquis Valentino looked embarrassed.
“The name of such a masterpiece is No-Name?”
He couldn’t understand why it was called No-Name.
These three swords were made to help create the last one.
At first, they were all called No Name, but since each one would have its own owner, they were given different names.
First, Second, Third. The order was based on how well the sword was made. The sword that Marquis Valentino had tested was the first one made, but it was called Third No-Name because it was not as advanced.
There was a reason for this name.
It was named that way because he thought he had created the last one after three tries, but Marquis Valentino couldn’t help but be embarrassed.
Third No-Name was already a masterpiece, good enough to be called a treasure.
But he couldn’t understand calling such a sword No-Name.
Besides.
Third?
Marquis Valentino asked, looking confused. “I don’t understand. How can a sword that scored 5 stages in the magic test be called Third No-Name? The name of the sword is important. You have used names that fit masterpieces, like Salamander, Blaze, and Darkness. Why did you make such a bad choice this time?”
He looked genuinely sorry.
As a collector, he felt bad when things weren’t appreciated for their true value.
Roman Dmitry told him the truth.
“I have made four swords in total. This Third No-Name was the first practice sword I made to create the last one, so that’s why I named it that. I don’t think it’s a bad name. I think it’s more meaningful because it shows the experimental process.”
His face changed.
He stopped thinking for a moment, but then he understood.
“So, that means this Third No-Name is the worst of the four swords?”
