Suddenly, soldiers were everywhere.
This was all part of a plan, carefully made beforehand.
When Daniel Cairo asked for help, Roman Dmitry sent him a new plan using magic to talk from far away.
The message said: ‘Stop fighting as you are now. Give up the forts.’
‘This war with Chronos must end quickly, not drag on. We need one big, final battle.’
‘When Chronos enters Patrick family land, we will fight them at Patrick Fortress.’
‘Defending the castle won’t help us this time.’
‘We will put King Daniel Cairo on the walls to make the enemy think we are fighting to the end. But some soldiers and Umberto’s men will hide nearby to attack the enemy up close.’
Daniel Cairo spoke, “…Isn’t this risky? They are stronger than us, and they have a very powerful mage, a 9-circle mage. A mage like that can change everything in a big battle.”
It was Daniel Cairo who spoke.
Daniel Cairo now saw Roman Dmitry differently. He knew Roman was in charge, and he felt comfortable showing him respect.
Both Hector and Cairo kingdoms understood the situation quickly. Things were changing fast, and they knew Roman Dmitry was their best hope.
“[I understand why you are worried,]” Roman Dmitry replied.
Alexandr was very dangerous.
The power of a 9-circle mage to destroy things was amazing.
He had destroyed the capital city of Odelia with just one spell and broken Cairo’s defenses in the west. This showed he was a very strong enemy.
Even Roman Dmitry wasn’t sure he could win.
Because he had never faced magic like this before, he kept thinking about the situation to find the best way to win for sure.
This was a very important moment.
Valhalla was attacking now. The only way to win was to completely defeat Chronos.
“[But hiding in the castle won’t work. Alexandr’s magic makes the castle’s magic defenses useless. Instead, we need to pull them in and make it a close fight, mixing our soldiers with theirs. If they want to fight us, their own soldiers will get hurt too. Patrick family land is the key. Once they are inside, it’s hard to escape quickly. We can destroy the whole Chronos army with one big win. And when everything is mixed up and confusing, I will attack Alexandr myself.]”
Everyone watching on the screen was amazed.
They were in a desperate situation, but Roman Dmitry had found a way to win for sure.
At moments like these,
People understood why Roman Dmitry was so powerful. It wasn’t just his fighting skills.
He could think quickly and make brave decisions. He had excited the Cairo Kingdom ever since he was just a young leader from a faraway place.
In just a few years, he had become a major power in the whole continent. Everyone trusted his words completely.
“Understood,” Daniel Cairo said.
“We will do as you say,” Hector added.
And so,
Cairo began to follow the plan.
Would they defeat Chronos and Alexandr? Or would they be completely destroyed, and Cairo fall? Everything was at risk.
Roman Dmitry was taking a huge risk.
* * *
Sound of feet hitting the ground.
A deep rumble echoed.
A powerful energy, an aura, spun around Roman Dmitry.
He ran faster than his own soldiers could keep up.
The hidden soldiers would take time to arrive, but Roman Dmitry didn’t slow down.
Enemy soldiers were everywhere he looked.
Usually, being in a large group makes soldiers feel brave. But the Chronos Empire soldiers looked very nervous.
Recently,
A new name for Roman Dmitry had started to spread.
Not just ‘one against a hundred,’ but ‘one against ten thousand.’
They had heard stories of Roman Dmitry killing hundreds of thousands of soldiers. They knew that having more soldiers didn’t matter against him.
It was just as he thought.
The soldiers were terrified and couldn’t even attack. When they saw Roman Dmitry, something unbelievable happened.
He began the Heavenly Demon Advent.
A deep rumble.
He didn’t hold back his power.
He showed it completely.
As he faced the enemy, Roman Dmitry used the Heavenly Demon Sword Art.
‘First Form of the Heavenly Demon Sword Art – First Style.’
A bright flash!
Another rumble shook the ground!
The first group of hundreds of soldiers he faced were destroyed instantly.
They didn’t even have time to raise their weapons. The energy from his sword was like a powerful wind, tearing them apart.
The Chronos Empire soldiers immediately lost all hope of winning.
They knew Roman Dmitry was strong, but seeing it with their own eyes made them freeze. They didn’t know what to do.
At the same time,
‘First Form of the Heavenly Demon Sword Art – Second Style.’
A heavy thud!
The ground shook!
He moved again.
He pushed deeper into the enemy group. A wave of destructive energy went ahead of him, killing everyone in his path.
“Kraaah!”
“Aargh!”
Screams came from everywhere.
The Heavenly Demon Advent wasn’t just one move.
It was a series of moves, one flowing into the next. To go from the first to the second step, he actually took many smaller steps.
With each small step, power seemed to rise from the ground.
The powerful energy inside him flowed out as a force of destruction, following Roman Dmitry’s will.
Another flash of light!
He cut off the head of a skilled swordsman who was attacking him.
This swordsman, who was famous for his skills, died uselessly. Roman Dmitry pushed into the crowd of enemies again.
“Die!”
“Attack with everything you have!”
A voice full of hate shouted.
The enemies were losing their minds in the battle. They attacked like crazy people, seeing their friends die all around them.
Even if hundreds of them died, they thought it would be worth it if they could just scratch Roman Dmitry.
Their only goal was to hurt Roman Dmitry, even a little, and finally defeat him.
Footsteps, quick and deadly.
Ten steps exactly.
As soon as they were close enough, as soon as they saw Roman Dmitry and tried to attack, blood exploded everywhere.
A rapid series of sounds like something being torn apart.
Their heads were cut off and flew into the air.
He took his third step. The Heavenly Demon Sword Art moved like a storm, cutting down all the enemies around him.
They died so fast they didn’t even realize it was happening.
If they attacked, they would die. If they were scared and tried to run, Roman Dmitry would hunt them down and kill them.
It was a terrifying sight.
Just one man.
Roman Dmitry seemed to grow larger and more powerful.
His power was like a wild beast on the battlefield. The Chronos Empire soldiers were so focused on him, they didn’t even notice the soldiers from the kingdom alliance arriving behind them.
First, they had to defeat Roman Dmitry.
If they couldn’t stop this monster who had killed thousands in minutes, they had no chance to win the war.
Another footstep.
The ground trembled.
Roman Dmitry kept moving forward.
He pushed ahead, his target was the one person behind all this.
‘Alexandr.’
He could feel him.
He felt Alexandr watching him, a powerful and wild magic energy coming from him.
Just then,
A whooshing sound!
He felt intense heat.
Roman Dmitry had become resistant to heat because he had absorbed a lot of fire magic before. He quickly changed direction.
‘Danger.’
Another footstep.
Flames rushed out.
The imperial soldiers attacking Roman Dmitry were caught in the magic. The heat was so strong, their bodies melted instantly.
The flames covered an area of many meters.
Anyone caught in that space died. The ground was burned black and empty. It was so terrible, it seemed unreal.
“So, he dodged the fire. I heard he usually just walks through fire magic, but maybe this time it was too strong for him.”
From far away,
A voice called out.
Roman Dmitry looked up and saw Alexandr. Alexandr was watching him with a curious smile.
* * *
Alexandr watched Roman Dmitry.
He was truly amazed.
‘He really is this strong.’
In the previous war,
Alexandr had seen Roman Dmitry fight in his memories, in pieces and flashes.
Even then, he was excited by Roman Dmitry’s power. But seeing it in person, feeling the raw magic energy, was completely different.
It was like an explosion.
It was too much to take in.
Alexandr watched Roman Dmitry easily defeat thousands of soldiers and clenched his fists.
His blood boiled.
Who was Roman Dmitry really?
Alexandr came from a poor family, but he knew that Roman Dmitry was no ordinary person.
Even in the stories of powerful warriors that people admired, few were as strong as Roman Dmitry. Only the leaders of the respected martial arts groups were like that. But Roman Dmitry was cruel and violent, not like them. Was he from a dangerous secret group, or maybe…
For the first time, he thought about the Demonic Cult.
Maybe Roman Dmitry was a high-ranking member of the Demonic Cult, who lived in the same faraway Sipman Mountains as him.
Heh.
A laugh escaped him.
This is too exciting.
Think about it.
In his previous life, Alexandr wouldn’t have dared to even look at someone like Roman Dmitry. But now, reborn as Alexandr, he had magic power that was stronger than martial arts.
He would defeat Roman Dmitry.
After killing him cruelly, Alexandr planned to turn Roman Dmitry into a Death Knight and make him his servant.
The thought made him shiver.
By controlling Roman Dmitry’s soul and asking him questions, Alexandr would learn the truth about martial arts, which he desperately wanted to know, and find out who Roman Dmitry really was.
In the end, he had to defeat him.
Alexandr focused his magic.
He decided to fight Roman Dmitry himself on the battlefield.
“Hellfire!”
Whoosh!
Fwoooosh.
9th Circle magic.
He summoned the flames of hell.
He wanted to see how well Roman Dmitry could resist fire, since he had bragged about it. But Roman Dmitry dodged the attack, so he wasn’t completely immune.
A big explosion happened.
Some soldiers from the Cronos Empire died because of his magic, but Alexandr didn’t care at all.
“So, he dodged Hellfire? I heard he just breaks through fire magic, but I guess he wasn’t sure he could handle this.”
The battle was just starting.
He saw Roman Dmitry running towards him and used his magic again.
“Lightning Punishment!”
Flash!
Rumble!
Lightning struck from the sky.
Again, innocent people died. Roman Dmitry disappeared and then reappeared much closer than before.
Alexandr kept his eye on him.
He kept using his magic, dropping lightning everywhere around Roman Dmitry.
Bang!
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Rumble!
The world turned white.
No one could survive that attack.
Alexandr only cared about Roman Dmitry, not whether the Cronos soldiers died.
“Just as I thought.”
He could feel Roman Dmitry in the storm of magic.
He was amazing.
Alexandr had trapped him with no way out, but Roman Dmitry was still running towards him, breaking through the magic storm.
The Empire’s soldiers were being killed, their blood flying everywhere as if a powerful magic had hit them. It was a terrible sight.
But he didn’t feel worried.
He raised his finger and pointed it at Roman Dmitry.
“Earth Punishment!”
Bang!
Rumble!
An earthquake happened.
The ground collapsed, changing the land. Hundreds of sharp rocks shot up, tearing apart the bodies of anyone caught between them.
The Cronos soldiers cried out in pain.
They begged for their lives, but they fell into death to help Alexandr defeat Roman Dmitry.
Crack!
Their bodies were torn apart.
The lightning was still flashing in the sky, and the earthquakes made it impossible for anyone to get close.
This was the power of 9th Circle magic.
This was like a god’s power.
The first time Alexandr used 9th Circle magic, he knew that no one on the land could stand against him.
He had planned to take over the whole land from the beginning.
He just needed time to do what he was told to do. Alexandr’s Cronos had been preparing for this for a long time.
He used his magic.
He tried to find Roman Dmitry, but he couldn’t feel any magic power.
Then…
Pop!
What?!
Right then, Alexandr’s eyes opened wide.
Roman Dmitry was right in front of him.
He had been far away, and Alexandr had used 9th Circle magic many times. But Roman Dmitry had closed the distance in one quick move, which didn’t make sense.
Alexandr thought about using magic.
He quickly changed his magic and sent it out against Roman Dmitry.
No.
He thought he had sent it out.
Flash!
The world flashed.
By the time Alexandr knew what was happening, his head was already in the air.
Thud.
Roll roll roll.
His head rolled on the ground.
In the middle of the wild magic, Roman Dmitry broke through and attacked Alexandr’s body.
He was successful.
But Roman Dmitry looked calm.
Alexandr’s head, which should have been closing its eyes, was smiling as if he was amused.
“So, I didn’t die.”
“Heh heh heh. Amazing. How can you use 9th Circle magic so many times, break through it, and cut off my head so fast that I can’t even react? If I was normal, I would have died. But you’ve picked the wrong person. I, Alexandr, can’t be killed by an attack like that.”
Rumble!
Magic surged.
Black mist came out, and Alexandr’s head turned into smoke before coming back together on his body.
It was a horrible sight.
Roman Dmitry saw Alexandr become whole again and said,
“I expected it. If you have the power to live forever, I thought you might not die even if your head is cut off.”
“If you knew that, you shouldn’t have come near me. Roman Dmitry, I really respect you. I was sure that only I could beat you, so I showed myself on the battlefield. But guess what? Did you really think I tricked you into coming here just by using those weak Cronos soldiers?”
He grinned.
The stronger the person he fought, the happier he was.
Every time he thought about how he would feel when he beat Roman Dmitry, Alexandr laughed.
“You’re the one who walked into my trap. Revive.”
Fssssss.
Dark magic exploded.
Mountains of dead bodies opened their eyes.
Most of them were corpses with their heads cut off, arms and legs torn apart, and bodies that were not whole. But they rose as if they were alive.
Magic that brought the dead back to life.
Killing the Cronos Empire army with the 9th Circle magic was planned, because it was better for them to die anyway.
And…
“Look! This is what we have been waiting for!”
Whoosh!
Whirr!
The wind blew.
Behind Alexandr, space started to twist, breaking apart and showing a purple space.
Space opened.
It was the door to the Demon World.
