Conquering the Demon Realm. The words sounded unbelievable.
Isabel had been thinking about Chris’s words for a long time. Her face showed she could not believe it. “…Wait,” she said, “Did you say we are going to another world to conquer the Demon Realm?”
“That is correct.”
This was crazy. Conquer the Demon Realm? It was impossible.
She had worked so hard to stop a war with the Demon Realm. But Roman Dmitry had decided to do something even more shocking. *Does he really think we can conquer the Demon Realm?* she wondered. Part of her wanted to believe it. She wanted to feel the fire of hope, to imagine a perfect future where they won. But she couldn’t. She knew how impossible conquering the Demon Realm truly was. She had to stop this dream before it went too far.
“That’s impossible.”
It was a firm answer.
As she spoke, looking at Chris, all the soldiers stopped what they were doing and looked at Isabel. She wanted everyone to hear this, even Roman Dmitry, their leader. “Do you know what I learned in the Demon Realm?” she asked. “Humans can never win against them. They have a Demon King who rules everything, and three powerful commanders who serve him. You just fought Babel, the Third Commander. He was a monster, but the other commanders are even stronger, born into noble demon families. But even they are not the biggest problem. Roman Dmitry defeated Babel easily, so maybe he could beat the other commanders too. But the Demon King… he is different.”
Demon King.
Just the name made Isabel feel a fear that squeezed her chest. He wasn’t just strong, he was *different*. Before him, the Demon Realm was chaos, with demons fighting each other. But the Demon King rose up and forced even the most rebellious demons to obey him. His power was terrifying. Isabel had seen memories of that time. Even Babel, who was already a powerful monster, trembled when the Demon King looked at him. The strongest demons, who had fought their way to the top in the chaos, bowed down to him like he was a god. He united the Demon Realm. Isabel had seen it all in the memories, and it was even more frightening than she imagined.
“The Demon Realm is not like our world. The Demon King isn’t king just because he’s the strongest fighter. He’s king because all the demons knew they could not beat him, even if they all attacked him together. So, conquering the Demon Realm means defeating someone like *that*. I believe in Roman Dmitry. You have built a powerful army and won many battles quickly. You are incredibly strong. But this isn’t about whether I trust you or not. Knowing how strong the Demon King is, why would we fight him in *his* world, where he is strongest?”
Isabel’s heart hurt. She had always dreamed of humans being strong and united like this. But telling them they were wrong filled her with sadness. She couldn’t ignore the truth, though. If she wanted to help humanity find the right path, she had to speak honestly, even if it was painful. At least, she knew conquering the Demon Realm was not the answer. Fighting here was a terrible mistake for humans.
“We have to go back to our world. Even though the Demon Realm is making our world like theirs and making the demons stronger, we can still fight back in our world, with God’s help. So, you must choose now.”
She turned to look at Roman Dmitry. He stood there, watching her.
“If you want to change your mind, now is the last chance.”
Saint Isabel. Her words were important.
He could see her point. Roman Dmitry knew she wasn’t completely wrong.
But then he spoke. “Isabel,” Roman Dmitry said, “We have already decided. We know conquering the Demon Realm is a serious goal. We know the Demon King is powerful. We made this choice knowing everything you’ve told us.”
He looked at all the soldiers. Their faces were calm. Roman Dmitry had told them the truth: the demons in the Demon Realm were incredibly strong, and many of them might die. But the soldiers had made their choice. Fighting in the Demon Realm meant their families would be safer. And if they won, there would be lasting peace for everyone. That’s all that mattered. They trusted Roman Dmitry, and they were ready to risk everything for a better future for humanity.
Isabel was surprised and worried. She thought telling them about the Demon Realm would make them change their minds. But they were still calm. “You are not understanding!” she said, her voice rising. “This is not something to decide without thinking! Once we go, we can’t go back!”
Her voice was full of worry. Isabel always thought about what could go wrong. That’s why she had gone to the Demon Realm in the first place. And now, all the soldiers who went with her were dead. She didn’t want their deaths to be for nothing. She wasn’t trying to cause trouble. She just felt she had to warn them if there was any danger, no matter what. Everyone understood her heart. They might not agree with her, but they remembered what she had risked.
Roman Dmitry spoke, his voice strong and sure. “Isabel, my life has been full of fights. Barco, Marquis Benedict, Valhalla, Chronos – everyone said they were unbeatable. But once I decided to fight, I never doubted myself, and I always won. This time is the same. People trust my choices because of what I’ve done before. Tell me, Isabel, when I faced the Third Commander, Babel, did you think I would win?”
“…I was worried,” Isabel admitted. “I know Babel is strong. He leads a legion.”
“It’s right to be worried,” Roman Dmitry said. “But I beat him. My soldiers believed I would win, and they fought bravely. Isabel, the Demon King and the others you are afraid of – they are my problem now. I will not lose. You just need to trust me.”
He said it with complete confidence. Even after hearing about the Demon King, Roman Dmitry showed no fear, no hesitation. He was sure he would win.
He asked her one last question. “Isabel, I know you risked a lot for us. But you can’t stop us now. So, you have to choose. Will you help us, and put aside your worries for now? Or will you stand back and watch what happens?”
When she heard these words, Isabel’s eyes started to tremble.
Isabel felt like she had been hit hard on the head. This feeling was new to her.
The world was in danger. Everyone knew it. But now, she was being told this was not her job.
People were saying things like, ‘Isabel, we believe in you.’ ‘Saintess, please tell us what to do.’ ‘Your Majesty, give us your orders.’
All eyes were on Isabel. They looked at her because she was the saintess, because she was their queen.
People didn’t see her as just Isabel, a person. They saw her as the Saintess and Queen, and expected her to solve every problem.
So, Roman Dmitry’s words were very confusing. Even though the world was in danger, he said she couldn’t do anything about it. He even said she could just watch if she wanted to.
Then, she remembered Leo’s words. Leo had said that even if Isabel stopped being the saintess, people would still find solutions, like they always had.
‘People have found a new answer,’ she thought. ‘They believe in Roman Dmitry. They think he can defeat even the Demon King, just like he destroyed Chronos and Valhalla.’
Leo was right. Someone else could take her place. And Roman Dmitry was more than good enough for that.
‘But I’m not like him,’ Isabel admitted to herself. ‘Facing something as scary as the Demon King… I can’t be as confident as he is and say we will win. I’m not strong enough, not in my body, and not in my mind.’
Thinking back, she understood why people hadn’t listened to her. She had warned them about the Demon World, but she didn’t know how to fight it.
That was the truth. But it was a truth people didn’t want to face. So, they pretended not to see it. They acted like the Demon World was just a storm or an earthquake – something bad that just happens and can’t be stopped.
Isabel had become isolated in her own thoughts. She felt like she was only connected to the people who already believed in her. She never thought she could reach everyone, could make everyone feel included.
Roman Dmitry was different. He made people trust him. He had shown his strength by destroying Chronos and Valhalla. He promised that if people followed him, they could overcome any difficulty.
Maybe what people needed was just that kind of confidence. Even if it felt like they were holding onto hope with their last fingers, a leader’s confidence could make a huge difference to people.
‘Maybe God knew,’ she thought. ‘Knew that Roman Dmitry would never lose his courage, no matter how dangerous things became.’
Yes, truly. Her thoughts were all mixed up.
When she first met him, Roman Dmitry was only interested in his own goals. He had made it clear he wouldn’t risk his life for everyone else.
He was honest, she had to admit. If he was the hero the prophecy spoke of, she thought he would need to be very determined to fight the Demon World.
The Demon World was too dangerous an enemy for someone who only cared about himself. She thought he wouldn’t fight the Demon World unless humanity was in real danger.
She had been wrong. Roman Dmitry was brave. As soon as he saw the Demon World as a threat, he bravely decided to conquer it, instead of pretending it wasn’t there.
She wanted to believe in him. More than in a god who didn’t always give clear answers. She hoped that Roman Dmitry, standing right there, could truly solve everything.
‘Oh, God,’ she prayed silently. ‘If Roman Dmitry is really the hero you’ve been waiting for, then from now on, I will follow my heart. I won’t worry about what happens later. I will just do what I believe is right.’
The room was silent for a long time. All eyes were on Isabel. They respected her so much, they would support whatever decision she made. She had always been there for them, and they trusted her completely.
Isabel spoke. “I will join you,” she said. “I will follow Roman Dmitry. I want to defeat the demons and bring peace back to the world.”
She had made her choice. Her face was firm and determined. All worry had disappeared.
Everything was decided. Everyone agreed on what to do. Now that Isabel had joined them, the leaders from all the allied countries met together to plan what to do next.
“Isabel,” someone said, “we need your help.”
“I understand,” she replied, nodding. Because Isabel knew the Demon World well, they needed to plan their attack using her knowledge.
“The Demon World is very different from our world. It’s all purple because it’s filled with dark magic. This magic has ruined the land, so normal plants and animals can’t live there. That’s why the Demon King wants to take over our world. His world is dying, and he wants to take energy from other worlds, like ours, to make his world live longer.”
There are rules about dimensions, about different worlds. Breaking these rules has consequences. If Alexandre had lived and kept breaking these rules, our world, Earth, would have ended up like the Demon World, ruined and dying.
“Even I don’t know exactly how many demons are in the Demon World,” Isabel said. “But I know we can’t win unless we defeat the Demon King. He lives in the Demon King’s Castle, the only building left in that world. But we can’t just go straight there. As soon as we open a gate to their dimension, the Demon King will know we are coming. He will send his soldiers to attack us. If it was just a small group of us, we could hide our path using my holy power. But with so many soldiers, it’s almost impossible to move without the Demon King seeing us.”
This was bad news. Isabel had survived in the Demon World because she could hide her presence. If they couldn’t do that now, they would have to fight a long, slow war, wearing each other down.
And in a world full of so many demons, it would be almost impossible for the humans to win just by having more soldiers.
Isabel didn’t have a good answer either. If she knew how to solve this, she would have done something already, before Roman Dmitry decided to attack the Demon World.
She couldn’t go alone either. Even with her strong holy power, the closer she got to the Demon King’s Castle, the easier it would be for demons to find her.
So, it seemed like there was no solution. Everyone looked at Roman Dmitry. He had been listening quietly, but now he finally spoke.
“Like Isabel said, there’s no easy way to get to the Demon World. Even if there was a secret path, the demons, who know their world better than we know ours, would probably find it first. Since we can’t hide our tracks with holy power, we only have one option.”
Roman Dmitry had been thinking about this from the start. He had a plan in mind – a simple plan, but one he was sure would work. He looked at everyone and said, in a clear, strong voice, “Total war. From now on, we fight every enemy we meet. We will defeat them all as we move towards the Demon King’s Castle.”
