454. Currently Hospitalized (1)
The comprehensive check-up was scheduled for two nights and three days. Of course, it wasn’t a *real* hospitalization, just for appearances. Even though my body’s age is still a vibrant mid-twenties, I’m getting a health check-up with hospitalization. Considering my mental age, they probably recommend health check-ups starting at 30, right?
Anyway, since I was staying for two nights, I packed my bags. It was just a change of clothes, socks, underwear, and pajamas. I think they had toothbrushes and toothpaste last time I went.
And should I pack the kids’ food, toys, and maybe some training tools just in case?
“Is this all you have, Dad?”
Han-gyeol asked, holding up a large crossbody bag. He was in his child form, helping me pack. Changelings are said to have weak physical strength due to their fairy dragon traits. When he’s a small dragon, he has trouble lifting things bigger than himself. Even in human form, he only has the strength of a normal teenager.
“It’s heavy, put it down.”
“I can lift this much.”
It’s just clothes, though. As soon as Gyeol transformed into his human form, Peace became even more unsure of how to treat him. He was sitting guard, staring intently at the Changeling’s movements. *He’s a monster but also a person, and he feels a lot like me, so he must be confused.*
“Should I bring Bbyak’s sleeping place and Peace’s cushion? What about the kids’ bath supplies?”
I probably won’t need to bathe them, but you never know.
– Keeing.
The Horned Fox slowly approached Peace and sat down, only to get smacked by Peace’s tail. It jumped back and flipped over, showing its belly, but Peace didn’t even look at it. It’s a complete one-sided love. I should probably give it a name soon.
“Dad should take care of himself more.”
Gyeol said, looking at the growing pile of kids’ luggage with narrow eyes.
“I can’t even stay inside Dad anymore. I got separated after receiving a name!”
He grumbled, saying he didn’t know it would happen.
“Giving a name makes you an independent entity?”
“Yeah. I think so. I didn’t really know, but now I can refuse Dad’s orders.”
*Orders, huh…* Come to think of it, Diarma’s cursed poison dragons didn’t have names. Peace was labeled as Fire Horned Lion Peace. Same with Blue. Did he just leave them be because giving them names would make them independent beings who don’t have to follow orders?
“So you have to be careful, Dad.”
Gyeol said with a serious face. *So cute.* His round, big eyes are really pretty. Yu-hyeon was like a real angel when he was that age. All kids are cute and lovable, but it’s natural to think my kids are prettier.
Of course, Yu-hyeon was cute even to others. So is Gyeol.
“I’m a fairy dragon, so I still won’t take physical damage, but now I can be captured. The connection is weaker, so if I’m far away, Dad can’t call me back to him!”
“That means you could get kidnapped? Gyeol, don’t ever follow anyone, even if they offer you something tasty! Don’t even talk to strangers. Ignore them if they ask for directions or help. Kids should always avoid strangers.”
The world is dangerous. And Han-gyeol is too cute and pretty, so I have to be extra careful.
“Not me, Dad!”
The Changeling shouted.
“Gyeol can’t help Dad if he’s not by his side!”
“Dad is an adult, so it’s okay.”
Gyeol gave me a distrustful look.
“My power is a burden to Dad, but you can still use it for a little while. You can lower the grade and use it. But you can’t do that without me!”
It’s definitely more dangerous than when the Changeling is dwelling in my body. But I can’t tie him down just for my sake.
“Of course, I’ll be careful enough. I don’t even go out alone. So don’t worry too much… Since it’s come to this, should we just pretend to be human? Gyeol, how young can you transform?”
I could say I adopted him at kindergarten or elementary school age. Noah is here too, so if I say he has the skill to transform into a dragon, it should be fine.
“No! I don’t want to go to school!”
Before I could even say anything, Gyeol noticed and quickly transformed into a fairy dragon.
“But why?”
– I have to be away from Dad every day! I’m anxious.
It reminds me of Yu-hyeon. When he first entered elementary school, he was happy to go to school together, but he became gloomy when I became a middle schooler. When we were in the same school, he even waited for me to finish.
I patted the clinging fairy dragon.
“Not right now, but when the world is peaceful. When there’s no danger for Dad. Then it’ll be okay, right?”
– …Okay.
He’s not a typical monster, so I have to help him integrate into society. Wait, the Black Dragon could also communicate and was no different from humans, like Diarma. Is Gyeol going to be born like that?
…Am I going to become a single father with two kids instead of just a monster dad? I wasn’t planning on getting married anyway, but, hmm.
“Uncle! I packed all the luggage, what’s all that?”
Ye-rim said, bursting into the room and looking at the pile of kids’ stuff.
“You should knock before entering a room. I’m taking all the kids with me.”
Peace, of course, and Bbyak and Bellare. And I should take the Horned Fox too.
“It’s only for three days. Two days if you don’t count today.”
Ye-rim brought her carrier and put the kids’ toys and training equipment in it.
“There will be cushions at the hospital too. Peace’s is too big.”
“But it’s more comfortable to use what he’s used to.”
“What’s this flower vase?”
“Bellare likes being inside it.”
Ye-rim moved the flower vase aside, and Bellare crawled and slipped inside. The scales of the jewel snake sparkled haphazardly through the transparent glass. Bbyak flapped its wings as it watched. It seems like Bbyak likes it too, so it’s inside.
But Bellare really isn’t growing. Why? It’s a relief that Riete isn’t rushing me because she’s hanging out with So-yeong. If I keep focusing on dragonification in the dungeon, I might not have to return Bellare. Dragons don’t need to use swords.
As I carried the luggage to the living room, Yu-hyeon, who had just come home, held out his hand.
“I’ll carry it.”
It’s light. I attached the kids in a line and went up to the rooftop garden. A helicopter was already waiting on one side of the garden.
– Kyareureuk.
The Horned Fox flattened its ears and whined when it saw the helicopter. It seemed to have particularly bad memories of helicopters. On the other hand, Peace casually got on the helicopter as always. He had an air of, “Why are we riding this?”
– Kiing.
The Horned Fox, after seeing Peace, who had boarded the helicopter first, circled around and closed its eyes tightly before jumping into the helicopter. It really likes Peace a lot.
“…I knew it would be here.”
A familiar face was standing on the helipad of Sesung Hospital. The helicopter wind slightly ruffled his faded hair. It felt like just yesterday that he was going abroad for a long time, but somehow, I seemed to be running into him more often than before.
*He’s a hospital person, so it can’t be helped.*
“I’ll be in your care for a few days. But aren’t you too free?”
“I was so free that I even went shopping.”
Seong Hyeon-je showed me a photo card. It was Ethereal Peace and me.
“When did you get that!”
“I bought both Ethereal versions. Peace was cute.”
“Well, Peace *is* cute, of course.”
I admit that.
“The dolls came out well, right? Of course, the real Peace is the best. Always. They’re very popular. There were a lot of inquiries about pajamas and umbrellas, not just dolls.”
And they’re asking to sell extra-large Peace too. Actually, I wanted to have one if it wasn’t Peace. I wonder if Bbyak would dislike a Bbyak doll? Should I ask them to make an extra-large Bbyak? A fluffy one.
I thought the VIP room would be the same one I stayed in before, but the location was different. When I opened the double doors, a spacious hospital room appeared. Bed, sofa, TV, table, etc., it looked luxurious.
“Well, it’s ordinary.”
It was a simple and neat white-based interior. I was worried it would be similar to the inside of a private jet.
“I wanted to match it to Han Yu-jin’s favorite color, but it’s a hospital. Pink is a little difficult to keep clean. Especially dark colors.”
“Not good… Well, even if I liked it, I wouldn’t usually wallpaper everything with just that color.”
I swallowed the word “dislike” because I was aware of the fairy dragon on my shoulder. Gyeol is a silver dragon, but he’s mostly pink right now.
“Is that the bathroom over there?”
One side of the spacious hospital room was recessed in an L-shape. There was also a door. Seong Hyeon-je approached it and pressed the remote control. Then the wall instantly became transparent. Beyond the glass wall was a fairly large indoor garden.
“I was sure you’d bring all the kids.”
…You’re right. There weren’t many trees in the garden, and the grass was laid out so the kids could run around. Even if it’s a VIP room, what kind of hospital room comes with a garden?
“The bathroom is this way.”
Seong Hyeon-je opened the sliding door on the opposite side of the garden. The bathroom was really big too.
“This place respects Han Yu-jin’s tastes as much as possible.”
It was pink. Fortunately, it wasn’t an eye-straining hot pink, but a subtle pastel tone… Well, white was mixed in too. The design was well done. But the pink large bathtub was too much. It was so big that it looked like a mini pool.
There was a guest room attached to one side, and the guest room also had a separate bathroom. Above all, I was grateful that he took care of the kids.
“Soundproofing is also good, of course. And.”
Seong Hyeon-je took out something about the size of a finger joint. He put a small chip into the machine and activated it.
[The last day is near!]!
Someone’s voice came out of the machine. It didn’t seem to be Korean. When I turned off the translation item for a moment, I heard English.
[Of course, the high-level Hunters who are attacking the dungeons for my greed are also beings that must disappear.]
It was another voice. At least three people were talking about how the dungeon break should happen and the attacks should stop. The words “God’s will” and “the laws of nature” were occasionally mixed in.
[But the most evil is the Beast Breeder.]
…Huh? Me? Yu-hyeon narrowed his brows and looked back at me. Ye-rim, who didn’t have a translation item, just tilted her head.
“What are they saying? Han Yu-hyeon is acting like that, so it seems like they’re talking about you.”
“They say I’m evil.”
Ye-rim was dumbfounded by my answer. I was a little embarrassed too. I haven’t lived a virtuous life, but I’m not at the level of evil. The Sesung Guild Leader is right in front of me, so it’s even more embarrassing.
[Taming the monsters of the dungeon and using them for attacks. Isn’t that like a demon corrupting an angel?]
“What are they saying that angels and demons are coming out?”
“I……”
I was too embarrassed to translate.
“Um, they say I’m like a demon. What, corrupting an angel……”
“…The voice sounds old.”
That’s what I’m saying.
“I’d understand if Han Yu-hyeon was the demon and you were the angel. You’ve got layers and layers of rose-colored glasses on you.”
What’s wrong with our Yu-hyeon. While Ye-rim was grumbling, the voice continued to flow out. In general, it was about how I, the Beast Breeder, was a very dangerous being and must be dealt with.
[As such, if we can reform the Breeder like the high-level Hunters, it will be a great strength.]
[Isn’t the very act of humans taming monsters a betrayal of God?]
[There are already several Tamers.]
Well, they’re not going to kill me. There was also an argument to just kill me right away, but more than three, six? Seven?
“I told those filial piety [devotion to one’s parents] addicts that they were cults, and now real cults are running rampant. Where did this come from?”
“America, New Jersey.”
“Is that where the cult’s headquarters are?”
“No. I couldn’t go that deep.”
It seemed like they had planted someone.
“For now, it’s just that there are these opinions, and I haven’t grasped the leadership level yet. It hasn’t been long since it was created in the first place.”
The Prophet only gained his abilities after I regressed.
“If we strike first and wipe them all out……”
Yu-hyeon muttered quietly. No, wait for now.
“You can’t go out anyway right now. And America is huge.”
“It is presumed to be spreading to other countries besides the United States.”
“That’s what they’re saying. We have to investigate and wait first.”
“…There are too many people targeting Hyung [older brother].”
My brother grumbled unhappily. Ye-rim nodded greatly in agreement. It just happened that way.
“We have extended our power overseas, but our latest intelligence is bound to be behind the local guilds.”
Seong Hyeon-je said. It was natural that there were limitations since it was a country without the person involved, the Guild Leader. No matter how good Seong Hyeon-je is, he only has one body.
“So I recommend finding overseas collaborators as soon as possible. After you finish your treatment safely, let’s talk about the meeting right away.”
“Yes. I guess we have to.”
I need to lay all possible groundwork before the truce period ends.
