Woo-jin’s first acting experience was finally over. There had been a few tricky moments, but thankfully, nothing too bad had happened.
Filming became easier at Clasia Forest. Maybe it was more relaxed than WJ Studio. Or perhaps they were just getting used to it. Either way, the shoot went smoothly.
“Cut! That’s a wrap!”
“Great work, everyone!”
“Thank you for your hard work.”
“Wow, time really flew by.”
Of course, just because the shoot went smoothly didn’t mean Woo-jin was a great actor.
As someone completely new to acting, Woo-jin knew he had a lot to learn.
However, Woo-jin was simply grateful that the filming wrapped up without any major embarrassing moments, even if he had caused a bit of trouble.
“CEO Seo, thank you so much for your hard work.”
“What hard work? Everyone else did all the work because of me! Especially the director, who really went above and beyond.”
The director, who was now quite friendly with Woo-jin, joked with him.
“Haha, honestly,” Director Lim Soo-ho chuckled, “I wasn’t expecting much, you know? But you were… better than I thought!”
“How low were your expectations, exactly…?”
“CEO So-jeong told me.”
“What did she say?”
“That CEO Seo doesn’t seem to have a knack for acting…”
“Hoo… That woman…”
So-jeong, flustered by Director Lim Soo-ho’s joke, waved her hands and interrupted.
“When did I say that! Min-woo said it, Min-woo!”
The blame shifted to Min-woo.
“Wow, CEO! To say that so openly… That’s too much, really…”
Director Lim Soo-ho burst into hearty laughter at the sight.
“Hahaha!”
The lights of the film set were starting to glow brighter as the sun dipped below the trees, casting long shadows across Clasia Forest. The air, once buzzing with energy, now carried the scent of cooling leaves and the faint aroma of street food from nearby stalls. The atmosphere among the filming crew was remarkably bright.
Because of this, the filming staff were getting generous bonuses.
Of course, money wasn’t everything.
The staff felt a great sense of accomplishment simply by being part of this production. They were proud that the drama they had poured their heart and soul into was getting top ratings.
“In that spirit, Director.”
“Yes?”
“How about we grab a beer tonight?”
“Is CEO Kang buying?”
So-jeong glanced at Woo-jin and said,
“He came all the way to our CEO Seo’s place, so CEO Seo should treat us today, don’t you think? Right?”
Ha-young, who had already removed her makeup and appeared beside them, chimed in with agreement.
“Indeed, our CEO!”
Min-woo subtly joined in.
“Which CEO? There are two CEOs here.”
“Of course, it’s a double meaning. Both CEO Seo and CEO Kang. Aren’t they all our CEOs?”
Laughter burst through the group, like sunshine breaking through clouds, at Ha-young’s witty reply.
The other main staff and actors also stared at Woo-jin with sparkling eyes.
Woo-jin, as if left with no choice, shrugged and replied,
“Well, alright. It’s late, so we can’t stay out too long… Let’s just grab a quick beer!”
Once the set was cleared, about half of the filming crew went home, and the remaining half gathered at a *pocha*, a type of street food stall, in the Seongsu-dong area.
With only three filming sessions left, including this side story, everyone was much more relaxed.
“I should head to Seongsu-dong after work on the day today’s episode airs.”
“Huh? Why?”
“I’ll be at Oppa’s house by the broadcast time, so please come up, CEO. Got it?”
“……I decline.”
“Oh, why? These are the memories we’ll cherish. Hee hee hee.”
As glasses clinked and conversations deepened, the atmosphere grew even more convivial. The fatigue from acting, which didn’t quite suit him, melted away as he shared positive stories with good people.
And so, in such a pleasant atmosphere, Woo-jin’s eventful day came to an end.
Woo-jin finally arrived home, the sounds of laughter from the *pocha* still echoing in his ears. He knew tomorrow would be a long day, back to the real work of running his company. Despite the beer, he felt surprisingly refreshed and set his alarm for early. The city was still dark when he arrived at his office, but for Woo-jin, the workday was already beginning.
The next morning, Woo-jin arrived at the office early, before dawn.
Although he had drunk the night before, it was only a light amount that left him feeling pleasantly refreshed, so his condition was actually better. A bit of alcohol had helped him sleep soundly.
Of course, he hadn’t come to work early simply because he felt refreshed.
Woo-jin arrived at his office at exactly 6:30 AM, and no matter how refreshed he felt, that wasn’t reason enough to rush in so early. The truth was, Woo-jin had a mountain of tasks to complete before noon.
‘So many designs to review before noon.’
Woo-jin turned on his monitor and opened the stack of PDF files that had arrived in his company email. The drawings created in CAD had been exported to PDF files for easier viewing.
The file titles were as follows:
[CheongdamArco 247Type Floor Plan.pdf]
[CheongdamArco 198Type Detail Plan.pdf]
……and so on……
“Hmm. Where should I start? The 74-*pyeong* (approximately 244 square feet) unit has more changes… I’ll look at this one first.”
The files on Woo-jin’s screen were the architectural plans for ‘Cheongdam Arco.’ This was his new project, his own venture.
For the past few months, design R&D for the Arco brand had been underway, along with the design and planning for Cheongdam Arco, the first project to debut under the Arco name.
Woo-jin was scheduled to share the final designs with Dajin Construction by the end of the day.
Of course, it was the basic design, excluding the detailed construction plans. The actual construction-ready design work would take a bit more time.
“Hmm……”
247 Type.
Woo-jin first opened the drawings for the ‘74-*pyeong*’ unit, one of the sizes available at Cheongdam Arco, and began to meticulously examine the floor plan. It wasn’t as if he was seeing the drawings for the first time, of course.
Woo-jin had been directly involved in every aspect, from the concept design onwards.
However, several additional solutions were needed to complete the drawings, and he had to review them today.
Woo-jin nodded as he carefully examined the drawings, muttering to himself.
‘They’ve made the entire 247 type a duplex structure. That certainly strengthens the privacy aspect.’
The biggest drawback of a duplex is, of course, the need for stairs inside the house. Younger people might not find stairs in their living space particularly inconvenient, but for those over 40, climbing stairs can be quite a burden.
This is precisely why duplexes are rare in residential spaces, where user comfort is more critical than in other types of spaces.
However, the design team at WJ Studio had converted the entire 74-*pyeong* type, which accounted for 30 percent of all units, into a duplex structure, and Woo-jin nodded as he observed this.
What was the reason for this?
‘By lowering the number of floors in the terrace building to three and arranging these ten units side by side, it really feels like a terrace house in a resort.’
There are many types of privacy infringements in residential living, but one of the most significant factors is noise between floors. Noises from upstairs or downstairs neighbors are stressful, but conversely, constantly worrying about causing noise for neighbors is also stressful.
So, the design team completely separated the 74-*pyeong* units, designing them so that only one household occupied each line.
By allocating the first floor to a piloti with individual parking spaces and having one household use the second and third floors as a duplex structure, they had made all the 74-*pyeong* units completely free from the stress of inter-floor noise.
Moreover, they created a rooftop terrace by configuring the entire roof floor as a service area. Although it had the disadvantage of being a duplex, it created sufficient appeal beyond that.
Woo-jin wanted to applaud this bold choice.
‘The 247-type floor plan is really well-designed. But if this low-rise building is separated like this… won’t it block the view from the low floors in the back building?’
Having satisfactorily reviewed the 74-*pyeong* floor plan, Woo-jin now took out the building elevation and displayed it on the monitor.
In the initial design, Cheongdam Arco was designed as a single eight-story building. Separating the low-rise building like this and placing it in the front could obscure the view from the back building.
Given the nature of premium residences, where each unit is priced in the billions of won, the merit would inevitably decrease if some units did not have a guaranteed view.
However, Woo-jin discovered an interesting aspect in the elevation layout of the back building.
‘Oh ho. They’ve filled the low-rise section of the back building with a community center?’
The first floor, with a lobby decorated almost as luxuriously as a hotel and a fitness center for residents, occupied most of the area. The second floor was filled with a swimming pool, sauna, and screen golf facilities. The third floor even had a small screen movie theater, a lounge cafe, and guest houses.
In addition to placing the high-rise building on high ground, they excluded all the way up to the third floor for community facilities, so not a single residential unit had its view obstructed.
While maintaining the initial goal of a Han River view from all units, they had created an excellent solution.
‘The view from the second floor of the front low-rise building might be ambiguous, but since it’s a duplex structure, the Han River will be clearly visible from the third floor… This is enough to say that all units have a Han River view.’
Of course, not every aspect was satisfactory.
Woo-jin noticed a few disappointing points as well.
However, Woo-jin was generally quite pleased with the revised design and began to add comments to some of the drawings.
└ Even if it costs more in construction, it would be better to remove all the first-floor areas that are currently piloti parking spaces and replace them with community facilities.
└ The area isn’t large enough to accommodate a grand community space, but it would be nice to have a space where breakfast can be provided as part of the concierge service.
└ While the north-facing Han River view is important, it would be good to maximize the city view on the opposite side as well.
└ With the current layout, it seems like there will be view interference between the No. 3 and No. 1 lines in the back building… Some design modifications seem necessary.
……and so on……
Designing homes is always about trying things out, making mistakes, and finding solutions.
Moreover, this Cheongdam Arco is the first project under Arco, which can be considered Woo-jin’s first brand.
Dajin Construction, which was practically the homeowner, wasn’t rushing the design, so Woo-jin wanted to refine it as much as possible and design the best possible residence, to the point where anyone who read the brochure wouldn’t be able to resist signing a sales contract.
Of course, the Cheongdam Arco brochure would only be provided to customers who were likely to purchase it.
‘Once the final revisions are done this afternoon, I can finalize the basic design.’
Woo-jin nodded with a satisfied expression and re-compressed the designs he had reviewed throughout the morning, sending them to the design team via email.
Having been so engrossed in his work, the clock in his office already showed 11 AM.
“Fortunately, there’s still some time left… But it’s better to leave with plenty of time to spare, right?”
Woo-jin took the car keys he had placed in the corner of his desk, put on his coat, and left his office.
Woo-jin had a lunch appointment with a rather important person today.
Vroom-
Woo-jin, behind the wheel, headed towards Jonggak Station.
