Victoria screamed. The Emperor’s magic circle trapped her. She felt her mind and magic power melting. A strong force held her. She tried to fight back, but it was no use. She felt like she was losing.
“This cannot be stopped,” she thought. Helplessness filled her. Escape seemed impossible.
But then, this feeling of helplessness brought back a bad memory. She remembered being a child. She felt lost and confused. Being smarter than other children made it worse. She depended on her brother, who was just four years older. She felt like things just happened to her, and she couldn’t control them.
Many times, she had thought about giving up. She even thought her brother would be happier without her. But she had gotten through that time. Kind people had helped her, and she had worked hard herself.
“I will not give up here!” she thought. This powerful magic was nothing compared to the heavy feeling she had as a child. Remembering those hard times, which she never wanted to experience again, gave Victoria strength. This memory and her strong will helped her fading spirit.
That small act of will, helped by the crown she wore, started to change the powerful magic circle around her. *Woooong*. The magic circle protecting her mind and soul became stronger, giving her more spirit.
“Ugh.” Victoria groaned. “Master!” Through her strengthened spirit, she reached out to Clayton’s mind, which was connected to hers.
Clayton gasped, “I am ashamed… I was the first to lose control…”
“No time for that now!” Victoria said sharply. “Focus!”
“…Right,” Clayton replied, his voice firmer. *Wooong*.
They were both mages. The Emperor was stronger, an Archmage, but now that they were thinking clearly again, they could resist the magic.
Then, inside the powerful blue light, a weak brown magic started to pull away. It looked like they could escape the magic and go back to their bodies.
Clayton focused even harder. But Victoria suddenly spoke, “Wait! We can’t just go back!”
Clayton looked surprised. “What? Why not?”
“If we just escape, this magic will badly hurt the castle and our soldiers!”
It seemed like a crazy idea. Even if it was magic from a very powerful Archmage (a 7th circle mage). Even with a big magic stone and many magic items helping, it was still just one person’s magic. Could magic really destroy a whole castle? Why even have armies then?
But Victoria felt that this crazy thing *could* happen. Even if the magic didn’t destroy the whole castle or kill every soldier, it would still hurt them badly. She could feel the huge magic power. Also, she remembered something shocking she saw in the Emperor’s camp when he captured her.
“This magic is powered by four 7th class magic items!” Victoria exclaimed.
“What?!” Clayton was shocked.
“7th class magic items are incredibly rare,” Victoria explained. “Only the most powerful mages, almost like gods, can make them, and only using the rarest materials.”
Stories say that these items are made from dragon bones, dragon blood, or parts of magical creatures like gods. Even in old times, when magic was strongest, these items were very rare. Now, they are just legends. No one even hears stories about them anymore.
“It’s amazing that the Emperor’s family has *four* of these!” Victoria said. “People thought they only had one! The Emperor is using them even though they might lose their power forever, or stop working for a long time!”
“It’s like five Archmages, including the Emperor, all casting magic together!” Victoria explained. “Plus, they are using a huge magic stone, bigger than I’ve ever seen, and many other magic items at the same time!” She was worried. “This magic might be as strong as the legendary 8th or 9th circle magic, the kind people only tell stories about now.”
Clayton understood how dangerous it was. He became very worried. “Then what?!” he asked urgently.
“We have to change the direction of this magic!” Victoria said.
“What?!” Clayton exclaimed. “That’s impossible!”
“No, not completely!” Victoria insisted. “Just a little twist! Make it hit in front of the castle, not the castle itself!”
“Okay, let’s try,” Clayton agreed, though he was unsure. It was very risky. They had just gotten their magic back and were about to return to their bodies. To change the magic circle, they had to go back *into* it. They had to let the powerful magic pull them in again.
They had to try to change the magic without losing themselves completely. And they wanted to twist the direction of this huge magic.
“Normal magic won’t be enough,” Clayton said.
“We have to try!” Victoria replied firmly. Clayton saw her strong will and made a decision.
“Then, I will protect you,” he said.
“What?” Victoria asked, surprised.
“No time to talk!” Clayton urged. “The magic is about to happen!”
“Master, if you do that, you’ll be…!” Victoria started to say, worried.
“No time, I said!” Clayton interrupted. “You had this idea! So listen to me this time!”
Just before the huge magic was about to crash onto the battlefield… The small brown lights, which had disappeared into the blue magic, were too small to see. Then, *Wooooooong!* A giant pillar of blue magic shot up into the sky, making everyone on the battlefield stare. Then it crashed down towards the ground.
Because they had changed the direction a little, the magic hit the castle wall, not the castle itself.
“Just a bit more! A bit more! No!” Victoria’s soul, trapped in the magic, screamed in her mind.
But even though they changed the direction, the magic was still going to hit both the Emperor’s army *and* McLaine’s best soldiers. And even worse, it was going to hit Logan McLaine, their leader! This was the worst thing that could happen.
“Go back, Victoria…” Clayton whispered weakly.
“No, Master!” Victoria cried.
“Now!” Clayton insisted. He had taken the full force of the magic to protect her. His soul was now too weak to even understand what was happening.
“No!!!!!” Victoria screamed in her mind. Following her master’s last command, her soul rushed back to her body, just as the magic hit.
So, Victoria didn’t see the golden light that shot up from the front.
“What?!” she exclaimed, surprised. She had felt powerful in her soul, but now she felt a sudden, scary fear. Even with her power boosted as much as possible, she felt like her life was in danger. A huge beam of light, filled with incredible magic, was falling from the sky.
Just by looking at it, she knew. “I can’t dodge it.” The magic was incredibly strong, but it was also something else… it felt like it could block space and even hurt her soul.
Then, a new voice spoke, strong and confident. “I’ll cut it down.” Logan didn’t even think it might be impossible.
Logan’s soul was now stronger than ever, beyond even a master Aura user. The huge power in his hand made him completely confident. And then, his sword, Lux, suddenly started to use its time magic again. This gave Logan a new idea.
“I can do this,” Logan thought. It wasn’t just about using his sword’s magic power. The Emperor’s magic was now too strong for Lux’s normal power to work. Even Lux’s special magic, which was perfect for Logan, wouldn’t be enough to stop it. But the magic itself gave Logan a new understanding.
Time magic… Logan had never understood *why* Lux used time magic. But now, he started to understand. He had traveled back in time before. He had changed everything that happened. The magic from Lux, which seemed weak and simple, was actually time magic.
His past actions, all the changes he had made to time, now gave him power. “Changing what is supposed to happen…” Logan realized. This understanding gave him access to secret knowledge he shouldn’t have known yet, considering how quickly he had become strong. He knew the Ninth Form of the Divine Sword Secret Art: Light Split.
It wasn’t just about cutting light, or being fast enough to cut light. “It’s about cutting *time* itself,” Logan realized. It was like erasing the reason something happened and changing the result to what he wanted. Only the legendary Sword God, who had also traveled back in time twice, could have created this secret technique.
And… “This ultimate technique needs strong desire to work,” Logan thought. His sister and friends couldn’t learn this Ninth Form. He briefly wondered about the Tenth Form, which even the Sword God couldn’t master. But he pushed those thoughts away. No time for that now.
Logan quickly stopped thinking about those things. He raised his sword. Filled with strong desire, he swung it at the dangerous light falling from above. *Kwaaaang!* The pillar of light, which was still falling towards the castle wall, changed direction again, just a little.
And right there, in front of the broken castle wall, were the Emperor’s best soldiers, ready to attack.
“Huh?” one soldier mumbled.
“What is that light?!” another shouted.
“What’s happening?!” *Flash!* Thousands of soldiers caught in the light vanished instantly, without even a scream. But that was just the start.
*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!* “Aaaaargh!” Soldiers screamed. “Uaargh!” “What is this?!” The shockwave from the explosion spread out, throwing even more soldiers around like paper dolls.
*Rumble! Rumble!* The ground shook like an earthquake. The army stopped moving. Even more soldiers were hurt or killed by the shaking ground.
“Uaaaargh!”
“Kkeueuk…” Soldiers groaned.
“W-What’s happening?!”
“Help me!”
The huge magic power still in the air suddenly stopped all other magic on the battlefield. ‘Cough, cough.’ Mages coughed. ‘Kkeureureuk.’ ‘D-Demon magic…’ one whispered. Mages from both armies started coughing blood, but the Emperor’s mages, who were closer to the light, were hurt much worse.
“Cough.”
“C-Curse…”
“This is a disaster…” Mages coughed and gasped. About 3,000 mages fell to the ground, all coughing blood. The wind barrier had only been slightly damaged, but this one magic attack had caused terrible destruction.
Looking around, it was clear that at least tens of thousands, maybe even 100,000 soldiers, could no longer fight. The blue light had swept across the battlefield, leaving behind a scene of death and destruction, like a painting of hell.
Standing in front of this terrible miracle, Logan raised his golden sword again. “Did you see that?!” he shouted. “This is divine punishment for the invaders!!!” Everyone on the battlefield, who had been staring in shock, now turned to look at Logan.
“The Emperor’s endless greed has brought this divine punishment!” Logan’s voice boomed across the battlefield. Normally, people would not believe such a thing. But looking at the destroyed Emperor’s army, Logan’s words sounded almost true. What had just happened was impossible to explain with normal ideas about the world.
“What did he say?” a soldier whispered.
“I… I think it’s true!” another replied, his voice shaking.
“The Empire is being punished by the gods!” Whispers spread quickly through McLaine’s army. But even in the Emperor’s army, confusion started to grow.
“W-Were we wrong to invade?” one Imperial soldier mumbled.
“How could this happen…?”
“Is this really punishment for *us*?” another wondered. Even the Emperor’s well-trained soldiers began to panic. The scene was just too unbelievable.
“That’s nonsense!” Galen Dicaid, the Frost Wind Mage, finally shouted, but his voice was weak. He was still shocked and trying to stop the magic from going wild. But the mood of the battlefield had already changed. Galen’s shout sounded like a desperate, late attempt to control things. Logan’s voice, shouting again, was louder and stronger, drowning out Galen.
“The will of God is with us! All troops attack!! Crush the dogs of the Empire!”
