Regressor Of The Fallen Family [EN]: Chapter 480

Chapter 480

‘This world is full of surprises,’ thought the Apostle of Aion. Aion was the God of Water and Farming. This Apostle was in a human body. Being in a human body changed a god. It made them think and feel differently. But Aion’s Apostle found this interesting. He was relaxed because he knew he could handle anything that happened. Also, the human he was in was naturally calm, like a priest of Aion should be.

‘So, it was true,’ the Apostle thought. He watched the person who was supposed to become Jibrik’s body destroy pieces of Jibrik instead. This made the Apostle sure of something. Being in a human body changed how he saw things, and how he thought. He wasn’t as powerful or wise as a god anymore. But he still understood what was happening.

Suddenly, a furious voice boomed, ‘How dare you!’ Jibrik’s remaining pieces started to pull power from the altar again. Even the Apostle of Aion frowned. He remembered something from 300 years ago. Jibrik was changing the rules of the ritual. This ritual was only supposed to work for Jibrik’s family. But Jibrik changed it so it only needed a little bit of his blood.

Jibrik had been gone for 2000 years. His blood was now in many humans. So, almost anyone could be used for the ritual! This would make Jibrik weaker, but he didn’t care. It was better than dying completely.

Jibrik, even as just a piece of his soul, was amazingly clever. He was changing a powerful ritual in an instant! ‘Just as I thought,’ the Apostle mused. Jibrik was still a genius, even if his soul should have been in a dragon, not a human.

But then, the Apostle thought, ‘It’s still just a piece of him.’ The Apostles didn’t panic. They weren’t being careless. They had a plan to get rid of Jibrik for good. Showing themselves through the Apostles was just part of their plan.

‘He’s taken a lot of power,’ said the Apostle of Asaron, a dragon-like figure. ‘More than we thought,’ added the Apostle of Atran, who looked like a dwarf. ‘Maybe we were thinking too small,’ Atran continued. They seemed to agree with Aion without needing to say much.

Even these powerful Apostles, now in smaller forms, seemed to show a natural respect for dragons. Aion found this funny, but he kept a straight face. He said calmly, ‘This is getting too big. We can’t worry about losing anything anymore.’

He turned to another Apostle. ‘Ageron, it’s your turn. Your Apostle must sacrifice himself, as you promised.’ Ageron, covered in golden scales, trembled slightly. He didn’t answer right away. Aion understood why he hesitated. But a promise was a promise. Ageron’s Apostle had to do it. Aion waited, still relaxed.

Logan felt he had no choice. ‘No!’ he thought. He couldn’t let Jibrik take over. He couldn’t let his people die. He had to use his last resort, even if the Apostles were watching. He focused all his energy. Inside him, he felt nine powerful centers of energy, his Force Cores, roar to life. Suddenly, one more Core burst out, adding to his power. The magic holding him prisoner broke apart with a cracking sound.

With a cry, Logan swung his sword, Lux. Golden light exploded from the blade. It was his most powerful move, the Gwangryeong Sword Art. This move was said to even change cause and effect itself. The golden light sliced through the magic circle, Jibrik’s soul, and even the Emperor’s body.

But Jibrik was already standing. He looked at Logan, not surprised at all. He raised his right arm. The bracelet on his wrist glowed, then shattered into dust. This bracelet was incredibly powerful. It could even control the Pope! But now it was broken.

From where the bracelet was, a dark gray mist poured out, like smoke. This mist pushed back Logan’s golden light. Jibrik looked at the people sacrificed behind him. They looked even weaker now. Red energy flowed from them to Jibrik. His severed arm grew back, but it looked pale and unnatural. Jibrik ripped off the pale arm and looked back at Logan’s golden light.

‘You used the power of life, did you?’ Jibrik said, his voice cold. ‘Interesting. But too bad for you. You are too valuable to lose now.’ He glanced at the Apostles, still trapped by the magic circle. Then he looked back at Logan. ‘My descendant, you who defied time. You will pay for this.’ Jibrik raised his pale white left hand. The gray mist grew stronger, pushing back Logan’s golden light even more.

The entire vast cave plaza shook as if an earthquake had struck. Cold sweat ran down Logan’s forehead. He had reached his limit. But the power of the resurrected Jibrik was stronger than he thought. The difference between being a soul and having a body was huge.

‘He’s getting stronger?’ Logan thought. Jibrik’s soul, just a small piece before, was now taking over the Emperor’s soul, growing bigger. And as he did, his power grew too. Logan bit his lip. ‘It was a shortcut after all. I can’t expect any more.’

‘Ageron, are you still hesitating?’

‘Keep your promise.’

‘Before it’s too late.’

‘Before even that body is taken from Jibrik.’

‘Understood. Damn it,’ Ageron replied.

Suddenly, a huge golden light burst out, different from Logan’s. Before Logan could understand, Jibrik’s face twisted in anger.

‘Ageron!!? How!?’ Jibrik shouted.

‘I’ll finish you off this time, Jibrik,’ Ageron’s voice echoed, followed by a deafening roar. The ceiling of the cave blew away. Through the holes in the thick rock walls, Logan saw golden and gray lights fighting in the sky.

The power was so strong that it carved away the mountain and destroyed the plaza. The power of true gods, gone for ages, had returned.

Logan stared in shock. A rock grazed his face, snapping him back to reality. ‘Damn it.’ He quickly used his power to lift Clayton and Louisa, who were about to be crushed by a huge rock. He even grabbed King Dongik, his future in-law, and tried to escape the collapsing cave.

The two energies in the sky collided, creating a blinding light. A beautiful light, but full of destruction. Light poured down, crushing everything. Logan used all his power to protect himself and the others. He created a barrier to shield their souls.

The light, strong enough to destroy everything, filled his vision. Then, it disappeared. Logan looked up at the sky, at the huge ball of light made of gold and gray. ‘It’s really amazing.’ The light wasn’t flashing now, but the power coming from it was immense.

He looked around. He was in a wasteland, a crater where everything was destroyed. The mountain range was gone. He realized how terrifying the ancient times must have been, when such beings roamed the earth.

Grotesque voices spoke nearby. ‘They’re fighting for power.’

‘If we help, it will end faster.’

‘Then why don’t you do it?’

‘I don’t want to waste my merit. I’d rather give up my Apostle body.’

‘But if Jibrik wins, shouldn’t we?’

‘Ageron can handle just a piece of him.’

The five monsters surrounding him spoke.

‘Apostles…’ Logan muttered. The Apostle with blue scales turned to him. ‘Impressive, descendant of Jibrik.’

Logan was surprised by the friendly tone.

‘He’s amazing for a human.’

‘We should make him our proxy.’ The elf-like and dwarf-like Apostles seemed to agree.

Why were they being so nice? The orc-like Apostle sighed. ‘Then we have to change the prophecy. I’ll lose face.’

‘But it’s worth it,’ The white-scaled Dragonkin Apostle agreed. The blue-scaled Dragonkin Apostle said something that shocked Logan: ‘He has ascended to the realm of a god, with power, not magic.’

‘Ah…’ Logan realized why he wasn’t exhausted. The constant battles had pushed him past his limits. As soon as he understood this, his mind calmed. He felt in control of everything. He knew he could change the world with his will alone.

‘Ha…’ He understood his power and scanned his surroundings. He could now understand the Apostles and the battle above. He chuckled, finally understanding why the Apostles were acting this way.
