What is the essence of a spirit?
I imagined a concept I had never once considered when writing.
‘The essence of a water spirit is water.’
Undine and Undairon had distinct forms.
But their substance was water.
The existence of a spirit required substance in the process of being summoned from the spirit realm to the middle realm, and its appearance changed according to the power the spirit possessed.
In the middle realm, Undine was like a small fairy, and Undairon was like a warrior in the water, but it was different in the spirit realm.
In the spirit realm, Undine is water with a little power, and Undairon is water with more power.
‘If I study the formation process of spirits, wouldn’t I be able to communicate more deeply with them later?’
While practicing the Breath of Wind, I pondered and began to add logic to my imagination.
‘It’s not the end just by learning spiritism. The formation process of spirits, the characteristics of each attribute spirit, the difference between the spirit realm and the middle realm… All studies are a mixture of theory and practice. Spiritism is the same. Theory is no different from the basics.’
Because I had relied only on my mother’s spiritism, I had never once contemplated the study of spiritism itself.
‘Once I succeed in detoxification, I should start studying theory as well.’
There was also a teacher named Soris, and the Imperial Palace Library was full of books not only on spiritism but also on swordsmanship and magic theory.
There were even books on swordsmanship, magic theory, and mana breathing techniques passed down through prestigious families, so it was no exaggeration to say that the Imperial Palace Library was a treasure trove.
I felt that my perspective was narrow and my thoughts were short-sighted.
“Hoo-woo-woo!”
Taking a deep breath, I organized my thoughts and accepted Undine and Undairon into my body.
The method I would try for detoxification was to transform Undine and Undairon into water droplets within the Breath of Wind and dissolve them into the flow of mana.
In other words, when I performed the Breath of Wind, mana would flow through the meridians [energy pathways] as the breathing technique led, accumulating in the mana hole [a reservoir of magical energy], and I would mix the water spirits with that mana.
To be honest, I doubted whether this would work.
But there was no reason not to try.
It would be good if it succeeded, and it didn’t matter if it didn’t.
With a slightly nervous heart, I slowly executed the Breath of Wind.
First, mana scattered in the air entered through my nose, and at the same time, Undine and Undairon read my intention and entered with it.
‘I am definitely different from other spiritists.’
As Soris said, communicating with spirits through consciousness was a tremendous advantage.
I intentionally unfolded the Breath of Wind slowly.
Mana began to circulate through my body at a much slower pace than usual.
The mana mixed with Undine and Undairon gave me an unprecedented sense of refreshment.
Mana soon entered the mana hole.
The poison wriggled.
The poison strongly pierced the membrane surrounding it, as if it could not forgive the mana that touched its territory.
I barely suppressed a groan.
The pain felt in the mana hole far exceeded imagination as the poison stirred.
Biting my lip tightly, I operated the Breath of Wind more fiercely.
I summoned Undine additionally and made it permeate the newly entering mana.
Goo-ooo-ooo!
Mana flowed into the mana hole in a rougher stream than before.
I was clearly feeling the presence of Undine and Undairon.
Undairon led the mana like a vanguard.
The mana membrane was peeled off, and the poison fully revealed its appearance.
My mana hole turned into a battlefield.
And I bore the brunt of the impact.
Bang-! Kwaaaang-! Bang-!
The battle between the poison, Undairon, Undine, and mana intensified.
Blood burst from my nose, and mana surging from my chest swirled in my mouth.
I desperately maintained the Breath of Wind.
New mana was continuously introduced, and Undairon’s power grew even greater.
Undairon, who usually only received mana from my mana hole, was drawing in and using the newly entered mana in real time.
This was truly amazing.
The spirit was exerting influence using mana that was not accumulated in the mana hole.
‘This is only possible for a supreme spirit master, not just a high-level spirit master….’
Only a grand sword master, a 9-circle mage, or a supreme spirit master could draw in natural mana as it was.
I was currently experiencing that realm even just a little.
Kwaaaaaang-!
Undairon struck the center of the poison with a torrent of mana.
The round, solid poison shattered.
I finally vomited blood.
“Cough!”
Undairon and Undine led the mana like lightning and swirled through my body.
The water spirits flowing according to the Breath of Wind purified the shattered pieces of poison.
I didn’t even think about wiping the blood and concentrated.
I instinctively felt that this was a very important moment, even though no one had explained it to me.

-Level has increased.
-You have succeeded in detoxification in a way that no one has ever tried.
-Bonus stats are awarded.
-The level of Wind Companion greatly increases.
-The level of Breath of Wind greatly increases.
-The level of Water Guardian greatly increases.
-A Wave of Purification is unlocked and its level increases.
-The effect of the Polisia Flower is activated.
This was the first time the system had said so much.
My character level increased by a whopping 6, and Wind Companion and Water Guardian increased by 4 each, reaching 10.
The level of Breath of Wind jumped to 20, and the Wave of Purification was level 5 as soon as it was unlocked.
‘It has a significant effect not only on detoxification but also on healing.’
The Wave of Purification is particularly effective in detoxification and has healing abilities comparable to divine power or magic-based healing.
I now had healing skills in addition to attack, defense, and support skills.
“Amazing.”
When I defeated Riodeen, no skills or talents increased, but I received tremendous benefits from just one detoxification.
“I also received 700 bonus stats… Now it’s 1,000?”
And there was one more thing.
‘It feels like I’ve reached the end of the intermediate level.’
I had always relied on the status window to distinguish the stages of spiritism, but this time I could judge for myself.
With all the poison gone, I began to fill the empty mana hole through the Breath of Wind.
Certainly, the Breath of Wind at level 20 showed a different level of efficiency than before.
Much more mana entered with each inhalation than before.
I felt that more mana was accumulating in the mana hole more easily than before.
The Polisia Flower effect was activated as the poison disappeared, and the mana hole doubled in size.
‘I can reach master level soon. And the size of the mana hole is already at the level of an advanced beginner, so if I train in spiritism itself a little more, I can quickly become an advanced spiritist.’
The difference between intermediate and advanced is much greater than the difference between beginner and intermediate.
An advanced spiritist can even face a sword master of the same level.
Above all, I could contract with a high-level spirit.
At that time, the system window announced new information once more.
-The one who walks the path of the great spiritist activates the title effect.
-The one who follows the primordial covenant activates the title effect.
The title effect of the one who walks the path of the great spiritist was that the power of all attribute spirit skills was doubled.
I exclaimed, “Heh.”
‘I think I’m becoming more and more of a cheat character?’
It was a tremendous title effect that I could feel myself.
There was one more title.
The title effect of the one who follows the primordial covenant was that I could communicate with all attribute spirits.
I was currently communicating with spirits through consciousness, and there was nothing particularly inconvenient, but being able to talk directly with my voice was a different feeling.
I immediately summoned Undine.
-Greetings, master of the covenant.
The little fairy Undine smiled and greeted me.
“Can you hear my voice?”
I asked with a slightly shy expression.
It might be difficult for others to distinguish, but I could clearly see that Undine’s smile had deepened.
Perhaps this was also thanks to my affinity?
To others, Undine was just a very small blue fairy, and all their faces looked the same.
But I could tell that all the Undines I had contracted with looked different, and I could also distinguish the differences in color.
-Your voice has always been heard. It’s just that I could read your consciousness, and you couldn’t hear my voice.
I had so many questions.
Before I knew it, I became impatient.
“What is the master of the covenant?”
-That is not something I can disclose. Disclosing it carelessly could affect the world itself.
I didn’t press Undine for details.
As expected, it was easy to talk to Undine.
She scratched my itch [satisfied my curiosity] because she knew what I was thinking even if I didn’t ask with my voice.
-When your level becomes higher and you are recognized as the true master from the one who follows the primordial covenant, you will know naturally.
In other words, I would know when my current title, the one who follows the primordial covenant, becomes the master of the covenant.
‘Titles are also upgraded. The harder a title is to obtain, the greater its effect.’
I knew the system settings well, so I immediately understood what Undine meant.
I summoned not only Undine but all the spirits I had contracted with.
It was late at night, but it didn’t matter.
Because my father’s advice came to mind.
To talk to spirits often.
Even if it wasn’t for that advice, I had so many things I wanted to ask the spirits.

The next morning, Ken came to see me as usual.
“Your Highness, your complexion…”
Ken couldn’t continue his words as if he couldn’t believe it.
I smiled brightly.
“I detoxified.”
I explained in detail what had happened last night.
Not only Ken but also Soris came with him.
It seemed like he had something to report to me, but as he listened to my story, the expressions of the two people changed strangely, as if that didn’t matter anymore.
Soris opened his mouth first.
“It’s a truly unbelievable story. There probably isn’t a single spiritist like Your Highness.”
“That’s a story I’ve already heard.”
I shrugged and continued.
“You shouldn’t look like you have a good complexion. I was planning to leak that I was poisoned today.”
Ken nodded.
“Yes.”
“Hide the detoxification and win.”
I didn’t think it was a cowardly act. Hiding my strength and intentionally inflating or reducing it was one of the strategies.
What’s wrong with hiding my skills in a tournament where even assassination is allowed?
Ken moved immediately.
“I’ll be right back.”
Soris chimed in.
“I will make the report. There has been movement from the Seventh Prince and a new incident in the West.”
I trembled without realizing it and asked.
“In the West?”
