“Hyung, aren’t I cute?”
I was there to pick up Siha.
He still runs to me and hugs me tightly.
I always like being greeted like this. Siha rubs his face against me.
“Hyung. Hyung.”
“Yeah. Hyung. I’m here.”
“Hyung. Hyung.”
“Yeah, what is it?”
“What are we gonna do today?”
“Do you want to go see a movie today?”
“Movie?! Is it fun?”
“Hmm. I don’t know what movie we’ll watch, but it’ll be fun, right?”
“Siha likes it.”
“But Alisa is coming with us, is that okay?”
“With Alisa noona [older sister/female friend]? It’s okay. It’s all okay as long as Siha sits next to Hyung.”
“Okay.”
*Sitting next to me is what matters to you, huh?*
But I just said let’s go see a movie without much thought, and I don’t even know what to watch.
What movies are playing these days?
It was such a sudden plan that I didn’t even think to look it up.
Well, there will be several movies at the theater.
“Siha, let’s go for now. You have to say goodbye to your teacher.”
“Bye-bye, Teacher.”
“Okay, Siha. See you later.”
Getting into the car, Siha asks.
“Hyung, Siha will have cider, what about Hyung?”
“You’re already ordering?!”
“Hyung, have cider too.”
“You’ve already decided?!”
Driving the car, I start thinking about what kind of popcorn to choose.
It’s been a while since I went to the movies with Seung-jun and Hana.
Well, movies for kids don’t come out that often.
Summer is also the season when horror movies are popular.
Enjoying the summer by watching spooky things.
Actually, ghost movies don’t really give me much of a thrill. They’re not scary; they just make me jump at the sound effects.
I guess it’s because I don’t think it can happen in real life.
But thrillers are a bit scary.
Especially when a murderer is chasing you.
That feels like it could really happen, so I guess that’s why.
“We’re here. Should I call her?”
“Lisa noona?”
“Yeah.”
She answers right away as soon as I call.
I hand the phone to Siha.
“Lisa noona, Siha is at the movie theater.”
「Oh? Siha. I’m at the entrance of the movie theater. Going in through the front door.」
“You’re at the door? Siha is at the door too.”
「Huh? Where? I can’t see you?」
“There’s glass. Opened the door and went inside.”
「Ah. You came inside the building?」
I chuckled.
I can’t hear what Alisa is saying, but I can imagine it.
We took the elevator straight to the movie theater.
As soon as the doors opened, Alisa was right in front of us.
She must have thought we’d come to this elevator while she was on the phone.
But Siha is holding onto the phone.
“Lisa noona, where are you?”
“I’m here?”
“Siha is talking on the phone with Lisa noona. Where is Lisa noona?”
“I’m right here!”
Alisa pretended to answer the phone again.
She’s playing along with Siha’s game.
“Lisa noona, found you! Siha will call you later. Siha found Lisa noona.”
“???”
I don’t even know what Siha is saying.
Isn’t that what you say to a friend when you have something to do and want to talk later?
Anyway, it’s funny.
“When did you arrive? We’re not late, are we?”
“Hehehe. 5 minutes ago?”
“I’m glad you didn’t have to wait long. What should we watch?”
“A horror movie.”
“Huh? Maybe a little too much for Siha.”
“Of course, a horror movie that Siha can watch.”
“???”
Alisa handed me a movie pamphlet.
It was an animation that Siha could watch, called ‘Ghost Detective.’
Cute characters.
It says ‘Theatrical Version,’ so there must be an original animation.
“Are you sure this is okay?”
“It’s fine as long as Siha likes it.”
“Thank you.”
“Why are you thanking me? I wanted to go see a movie, so I asked.”
“Just because.”
“I’m the one who’s grateful. For playing with us like this.”
We bought popcorn and cider and went inside.
Siha hugged the popcorn and sat it in the middle seat.
It must be precious popcorn.
“Siha, this is scary, are you sure you’re okay?”
“Siha is okay because Hyung is here.”
“Kuhuk.”
I covered my mouth with my hand.
*Right. It’s okay because Hyung can defeat them all, right?*
Alisa next to me widened her eyes.
“Wow. I need to learn from Siha.”
“What?”
“That kind of line. Saying it so naturally, he’s quite the player.”
“Siha is pure, so he’s not a player.”
“Ahaha. That’s true. Ah! I know this. A natural flirt!”
“Leave out the flirt part.”
*Who is feeding Alisa these strange words? I should scold the culprit if I find them.*
I took off the bag on my back and put it down.
And took out a blanket.
“Alisa, here.”
“Huh?”
“Your pretty legs must be cold, so use this.”
“…Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
“…The natural was here.”
“Yes? What did you say?”
“I said thank you.”
“Puhup. I said it earlier.”
I took out another blanket and covered Siha.
The movie theater has strong air conditioning.
That’s why I brought Siha’s. I also brought one in case Alisa wore a skirt.
Of course, I also thought she might wear hot pants.
Because it’s summer.
As expected, she came out wearing a pretty skirt.
“Hyung, start!”
“Huh?”
But it was just an announcement.
Siha eats popcorn, looking disappointed.
Well, the beginning of the movie is telling you about the emergency exits.
“Hyung, really start!”
“Yeah. Let’s watch quietly now.”
“Woop!”
Siha covered his mouth with his hand.
Well, it’s easy to say quietly, but there are a lot of kids here, so I don’t know if it will be.
Originally, kids watch while being noisy.
There’s no way around it. If you don’t like it, you have to watch this animated movie at a time when there are no kids.
The movie started.
A ghost incident is happening, and it’s a car ghost.
It shows illusions of red lights, making cars that can’t go get cursed at.
Amazing.
“Hyung, scary.”
*This? Really?! It doesn’t seem scary at all?*
“What is?”
“What if the ghost comes out and curses at Siha’s car.”
“Is that so?”
I looked at the screen.
A good-natured victim thinks it’s a red light and doesn’t go.
In fact, it’s a green light, but the ghost behind makes it look like a red light.
And the ghost car is standing behind that car.
It curses at the car so that the driver can hear.
“Hey! What are you doing!”
“Hey! It’s gonna be dawn soon!”
“Wow! I’m going crazy! Really!”
“Look! Look! Aren’t you going to go soon!”
The good-natured victim in front thinks, what’s going on? Why am I being cursed at? And looks back.
But everyone is cursing at them.
Looking ahead again, it’s a green light. It’s a ghostly situation.
As soon as the car starts, it turns orange.
The car going forward gets cursed at again.
It’s rated for all audiences, so there weren’t any harsh curses.
The good-natured victim seems to hear the cursing in their ear because they’re possessed by a ghost.
But is the ghost from Busan [city in South Korea known for strong accents]?
I asked Alisa.
“Was this a Korean cartoon movie?”
“Didn’t you know?”
“No.”
No wonder the situation is a bit… It felt realistic!
Is this how ghosts are these days? A ghost like that might be a little scary?
But why is this animation so interesting?
I’m curious how the main character will solve it.
“Okay! I need to ask my police friends for help!”
I swallowed without realizing it.
It’s subtly fun.
The police come and become good-natured victims. The time when the ghost appears is close to quitting time, when people can get cursed at the most.
6 o’clock.
A police officer pretending to be a good-natured victim starts even though it’s a red light because they hear the radio in their ear.
The ghost car is also flustered and starts, but it turns red due to the police’s signal manipulation.
Screech.
The car stops.
Then the main character who was following behind lowers the window.
“Hey! What are you doing!”
The main character gets out of the car.
Approaches the ghost car and knocks on the window.
“Hey! Open the window! I said open it!”
But the window doesn’t open.
“Wow! It takes a lot of hands. A lot! Wow, I’m so busy, I’m going crazy!”
Knock knock.
The main character gives back exactly what the ghost did.
I say to myself that this is exactly putting yourself in someone else’s shoes.
This is… innovative. Innovative.
The ghost lowers the window slightly and says.
“I’m sorry. Please be patient. I’m a beginner driver.”
“Drive properly!”
The main character huffs and returns to the car.
The ghost starts the car, sweating profusely.
I thought that was the end, but it wasn’t.
The police officer is holding an LED light stick and telling them to stop.
The ghost lowers the car window.
“Thank you for your hard work. Please blow into this!”
Breathalyzer test.
The ghost blows into the machine.
Beep.
“Wow, you drank a lot. It’s 0.1%.”
“I didn’t drink.”
“Get out. Your license is revoked.”
The main character gets out of the car again.
“I knew it! The car wasn’t going even though it was a green light! I smelled alcohol when I lowered the window a little! Ugh!”
“Get out! Your license is revoked!”
The ghost looked around, but there was nowhere to run because the cars were surrounding it.
Sweating profusely, he said, ‘I’m sorry. I’m sorry.’
The ghost who got out of the car gave the license to the police with trembling hands.
And the ghost, who couldn’t drive anymore, turned into light and disappeared with the car.
“Hoo. Now that they can’t drive, the ghost won’t appear. This is how the ghost incident is solved today!”
My stomach hurt watching that.
Because the scene of solving it was so funny.
And it was very fresh. I wanted to see the face of whoever came up with that idea.
Who is the director?
“Hyung! It’s solved now!”
“I know.”
The kids laugh because the grotesque ghost is funny.
Wouldn’t comedy be more appropriate than horror?
Anyway, it ended with the main character solving it like this and driving home comfortably.
A sign saying ‘Safe Driving’ comes out and the ending credits roll.
I stretched.
“Ugh! That was fun.”
“Hyung. Siha needs to pee.”
“Ah, that’s right!”
Going to the bathroom after the movie is the rule.

“I used this well. It was really a bit cold. I haven’t been to the movie theater in so long that I didn’t even think about it.”
Alisa folds the blanket and gives it to me.
I put it in my bag.
“Was the movie fun?”
“Yes. It was fun. I thought it was just for kids, but it was funny and not bad.”
“I’m glad.”
I thought it might not be funny because it was a Korean-style ghost, but it seems like it was fun.
“Hyung. Siha had fun too!”
“Yeah. I know because I saw you next to me.”
“Are we going home now?”
“Yeah. We have to go home now.”
I looked at Alisa.
“I’ll take you home. Get in the car. You didn’t bring your car, did you?”
“No. I didn’t.”
I got in the car and drove.
Siha told me the story even though we watched the movie together.
I guess he wants to share his impressions.
“Hyung. Siha wants to see the ghost cartoon again.”
“Yeah. I’ll look it up when we get home. Let’s watch one a day. Okay?”
“Okay. Siha wants to watch a lot, but I’ll only watch one. Then be nice to Siha.”
“Puhup. Okay.”
“You have to give me a present too.”
“Even a present?! What do you want to receive?”
“Spend more time with Siha!”
“Kuh.”
*That was what I wanted to hear.*
Alisa kept laughing because Siha’s words were cute.
I asked.
“Siha is very cute, right?”
“That too, but Si-hyuk’s reactions are so funny.”
“Is it that funny?”
“Yes. Very. It’s funny every time you talk.”
“???”
*Is it that funny?*
I was doubtful, but everyone has different points of laughter.
Alisa pointed to the road with her hand.
“Ah, turn right there.”
“Huh? Isn’t it over there?”
“I moved earlier this year. To a place close to school and work.”
“Ah.”
We were talking like that.
“Huh? This isn’t the place? We have to go left.”
“Huh? You should have told me sooner.”
“I missed it because I was talking. Hehe.”
We often missed it because we were talking and went around in circles, but we arrived anyway.
Getting out, Alisa said.
“Thank you for today.”
“Well, me too. I just watched a movie, so I don’t know if I played well.”
“We went for a drive like this. Heehee.”
Alisa winked.
I stared blankly as if I had been hit.
“Then goodbye. Bye-bye, Siha~”
“Lisa. Bye-bye~!”
Tak.
Alisa walks quickly and goes into her house.
I felt like I had been tricked, but it didn’t feel bad.
“Siha, let’s go home.”
I drove the car.
I stopped at a red light.
I was lost in thought for a moment. About what happened today.
The light turns green, but the car in front moves late.
The cars behind honk.
*What are they doing? Really.*
“Hyung. Siha knows this.”
“???”
“Hey! What are you doing!”
“Puhup!”
Siha. That’s not the name of the car in front.
