Tales of Nangsane – Part 2, Episode 77
Land of the Spider Lords.
This place was once a lush forest, but the Spider Lords of the Insect World eventually gathered here.
It began with the Gold Foil Spider Lord, also known as Chungmo, and since then, the once vibrant forest has been transformed into a paradise of pure white spiderwebs.
Now, a gloomy and silent forest is disturbed by the arrival of a boisterous group.
“Ugh!”
“Ugh….”
“Kekekeke!”
It was none other than Cheonbeom and his party.
“Damn it, what kind of prey would even think about entering a place like this? If I ever meet whatever made this, I’ll tear it apart and devour it!”
Tamlang spat out the sticky mucus covering his body, clearly disgusted.
Beom felt the same way.
“Dogshit.”
What a filthy feeling.
After their time inside the belly of Manmanchungro’s Wanseon Blood Lord, they were greeted by a new environment.
“I’m afraid that’ll haunt my dreams.”
Entering the belly of the Wanseon Blood Lord and navigating its slippery, large intestine-like interior was a truly unique experience.
It was also an experience he never wanted to repeat.
Cheonbeom only calmed down after scattering Golden Celestial Fire to burn away the mucus and rinsing himself with a bucket of water.
“Is this the place?”
It didn’t look very inviting.
Lush forest trees were visible, but giant spiderwebs stretched in all directions above them.
Not a pretty sight.
“Can I just burn it all down?”
He felt an urge to become an arsonist.
“No, no, we can’t do that. This is also a land with its own lord. One of the four who opened the Six Gates is the owner of this place, so we shouldn’t unnecessarily provoke them.”
If that’s the case, there’s nothing he can do.
Beom wiped Tamhwa clean and disguised it as a small centipede, attaching it to his wrist.
From the moment he arrived in the Land of the Spider Lords, he could clearly feel the pressure of Hyangseon [a powerful immortal].
The time to be nervous was approaching.
“What an unpleasant place. The prey here probably doesn’t taste good.”
He was a little envious of Tamlang.
He seemed to live without a care in the world.
“But, Venerable One, how far are you planning to chase Tamlang?”
“Well, why are you asking me that….”
He glanced at Tamlang, who glared back as if to say, ‘What’s it to you?’
“How far do you intend to follow him?”
“Until I cut off his breath.”
What a relentless bastard.
At Tamlang’s words, the Venerable One laughed heartily, then dismissed it as if it didn’t matter.
“Doesn’t it bother you?”
“Not really. No matter what’s inside, Tamlang won’t pay much attention to it anyway.”
How could he be so sure?
He was strangely certain.
Of course, Tamlang’s nature was solely focused on battle, but that didn’t guarantee he wouldn’t be tempted by treasure right in front of him.
“You still don’t understand the Insect World. The difference between those who have been outside the Insect World and those who haven’t is enormous.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I’ve traveled outside the Insect World many times, expanding my wisdom by visiting the Water World, the Immortal World, and even the Mortal World. The ones you’re about to meet are mostly Insect World Immortals like that.”
But not Tamlang.
“Tamlang is a prodigy who is young for his level. But his knowledge is narrow, and he’s an Insect World Immortal who is only focused on one thing. So he has no interest in anything other than battle.”
You can tell just by looking at him.
The Venerable One said there was nothing to worry about.
Thinking about it, he seemed to understand a little.
‘Tamhwa is also like that.’
It’s a child who isn’t particularly interested in anything other than food.
You could say they’re similar in some ways.
“I see. I’ve learned another thing.”
“Hehe, it’s the time for that.”
The Venerable One smiled pleasantly and strolled along the forest path of the Land of the Spider Lords.
Suddenly, a spiderweb appeared, cutting across the forest path.
It was a sleek sight, shimmering even in the dim sunlight with its silver threads.
“Looks like they’ve already come to greet us.”
A small spider appeared on the silver thread floating in the air.
It quickly moved along the silver spiderweb, as if telling them to follow.
Following the silver spider, they soon arrived at a wide clearing in the middle of the forest.
Four figures were there.
“You’re all here.”
In front of the Venerable One, who chuckled, stood an old man with long white hair and a beard, with a stern expression, and three women with different appearances.
“Is that him? The Venerable One.”
A dry voice.
“The Superior Immortal called Cheonbeom.”
“A Superior Immortal? Even after opening the Six Gates?”
“I was quite surprised by that too.”
The old man and the three women looked at Cheonbeom in surprise.
“Is that true?”
A woman immortal with a clear appearance asked as if to confirm.
She wore a white palace dress and had beautiful butterfly-shaped wings on her back. She seemed to be an Insect Immortal belonging to the butterfly family.
“Yes, it is.”
“What a strange one.”
Unlike the clear-looking butterfly immortal, the woman immortal with multiple eyes next to her approached with curiosity and examined Beom from head to toe.
She had a slightly sharp impression compared to the clear-looking butterfly immortal.
“He really is a Superior Immortal… how did he open the Six Gates? That’s usually impossible.”
Beom simply smiled without a word.
There was no reason to tell them.
Seeing that he had no intention of telling them, the spider-like immortal with multiple eyes stepped back with amusement.
The last woman immortal had short hair and an emotionless face, and didn’t say anything, as if she wasn’t interested.
“I am Gugi. Call me Gusu Immortal.”
It was a water immortal who looked like an old man.
Beom’s gaze towards him was strange.
He seemed to have seen him somewhere before.
“I’m Cheongmin. You can call me Minmin.”
The butterfly immortal was Cheongmin.
“Call me Yeoobu.”
The spider immortal was Yeoobu.
“Nanchae.”
Gugi, Cheongmin, Yeoobu, Nanchae.
And the Venerable One and Beom.
“These six are the ones who have opened the Six Gates and are the water immortals who seek to open the Six Severances and Thirty-Six Gates, so now there is only one thing left to do.”
As the Venerable One smiled contentedly, everyone nodded.
“It took a long time.”
As Cheongmin spoke.
“It took a long time indeed.”
Yeoobu raised the corners of her lips and responded. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood, as they were finally able to open the long-awaited gate.
“But who is that person?”
Then Gugi said, looking at Tamlang.
“Ah… that person is from Manmanchungro….”
“You, a strong prey.”
Tamlang stepped forward as if he had been waiting for the Venerable One to explain.
It seemed that his damn competitive spirit had been triggered again.
“I’ll tear you apart and devour you. Come at me.”
Most of the water immortals had dumbfounded expressions at the sudden situation.
Then, they burst into laughter.
“I had times like that too. I think I know what’s going on? Venerable One, judging by the mention of Manmanchungro, he must be a lord from there. You’ve brought an unnecessary burden. Don’t you think?”
Yeoobu sneered as if she knew what was happening, and the Venerable One looked embarrassed.
“What are you babbling about, spider?”
“I hate talking to those who don’t understand. Venerable One, get rid of this guy right now, or I’ll kill him? If there’s any disruption to the grand plan, I won’t stand still. Who? Me.”
Whooooosh.
The wind of the Land of the Spider Lords blew coldly.
‘Come to think of it, the lord of the Land of the Spider Lords is also participating.’
Yeoobu must be the lord of this place.
“Sister, it can happen. Isn’t it natural since he’s young? If he was born and raised in the Insect World, it’s natural for him to act like that.”
Cheongmin said as if to understand, looking at Tamlang with pity.
The woman immortal named Nanchae didn’t say anything, as if she wasn’t interested, and Tamlang was raising his killing intent, angered by their dismissive attitude.
“The prey is chattering noisily.”
But that was also temporary.
“Venerable One, an explanation seems necessary.”
As Gugi emitted energy, Tamlang was startled and glared at him.
It was a considerably intense aura.
“As you can see, he’s a typical battle maniac from the Insect World, so it doesn’t matter if we take him along. Honestly, we don’t know what’s inside, so wouldn’t it be beneficial to have one more force?”
At the Venerable One’s words, spoken with a hearty laugh, the other water immortals pondered and looked at Tamlang.
“Hey, old prey. You’re strong.”
Tamlang seemed uninterested in anything else and was itching to fight.
The water immortals of the Six Gates hesitated for a moment, then came to the conclusion that it didn’t matter.
Beom didn’t understand their decision, but he roughly knew what they were thinking.
‘Even if it’s a tomb, we don’t know what dangers might arise.’
Perhaps they would use him as a shield in such a situation, or maybe they were taking him because they didn’t trust him since he was a Superior Immortal.
‘I wouldn’t have taken him if I were them.’
It was their choice, so he had no intention of interfering.
Soon, they discussed a few things among themselves, nodded, and began to move somewhere.
Tamlang shouted for them to fight him quickly and even attacked first, but soon Gugi approached and said something, and he became quiet.
“What did you hear?”
When asked Tamlang, he grinned and replied.
“He said he’d fight me one by one after entering the Six Severances or whatever.”
“…Is that it?”
“By the way, what’s with you, little prey? Why are you talking to me so casually? Don’t you dare talk to me so freely, you prey.”
Beom said he understood and moved away from him.
‘He was easier to handle than I thought.’
It seems they all knew that, so they allowed him to come along.
Soon, they passed through the spiderweb-filled forest path and entered a cave.
They had come a long way on a difficult journey, but they didn’t say a word about resting.
The Venerable One also didn’t seem to want a break.
As they walked endlessly through the cave, a woman immortal named Cheongmin approached Beom.
“Cheon Immortal, you weren’t born in the Water World, were you?”
“Yes, that’s right. How did you know….”
“I could smell it. The scent of the Lower World.”
Cheongmin tapped her nose and smiled brightly.
“Cheong Immortal, you are also a non-ascended immortal [an immortal who didn’t ascend through traditional means].”
“Yes, I am. Maybe we came from the same Lower World.”
He had heard that the Lower World was divided into hundreds, even thousands, of worlds.
It was unlikely that they would come from the same Lower World.
Besides, even if they did.
“How long has it been since you ascended?”
“Well, about 40,000 years ago?”
Even if they were from the same Lower World, that was so long ago that it was practically the same as being completely different.
“Oh, don’t tell me I’m asking a lady’s age?”
“I didn’t mean to.”
Cheongmin made a sad face, saying that her age had been revealed to Yeoobu.
“Cheon Immortal? It’s best not to get too close to Min just because she has a pretty face. That woman’s hobby is sucking the life out of handsome men.”
Cheongmin blushed and vehemently denied it next to Yeoobu, who chuckled.
“Sister, that’s not true. Cheon Immortal, that’s all in the past?”
It seems she used to be like that.
Beom nodded calmly, but he couldn’t help but feel goosebumps on his spine.
If she approached with such a pure face and innocent eyes, nine out of ten men would fall for it.
Besides, what Yeoobu was saying was probably not a metaphor.
Just like a butterfly sucks nectar from a flower, she probably sucked the essence or life force of men.
Beom firmly resolved to stay away from Cheongmin.
Cheongmin pouted and looked at Yeoobu resentfully, but she only laughed even more and playfully approached Beom.
“Oh, you’re sturdy?”
She kept touching him here and there, as if she was trying to make him her plaything.
Beom looked at the Venerable One as if asking for help from the unexpected sexual harassment, but he only laughed.
‘Damn it.’
Even the seemingly pure Cheongmin joined in.
“Really?”
They exclaimed and touched his thighs and arms, then giggled among themselves.
He was very unpleasant, but their levels were Hyangseon.
They were powerful beings who had lived ten times longer than him, so it was best not to create unnecessary conflict.
And fortunately, their harassment soon ended.
Because a stone gate with thirty-six eyes drawn on it appeared in front of them.
This is it.
“The Six Severances and Thirty-Six Gates.”
