Author’s Note
Dear readers,
Did you enjoy reading *Steel Emperor*?
It feels like just yesterday I started serializing it, but already three years have passed.
*Steel Emperor* is close to the culmination of all the mecha stories I’ve written so far.
My first mecha story, *Steel Magician*, depicted the growth of an Iron Mage boy who creates a Gigant [a large, humanoid robot], and my second, *Armored Magician*, followed the revenge journey of a protagonist who was both an Iron Mage and a Gigant rider.
Naturally, for my third mecha story, I thought of writing a story where the protagonist learns swordsmanship and becomes a full-fledged Gigant rider.
I wanted to depict a new journey where he breaks free from the limitations of a mage, becomes a knight, and even establishes a kingdom.
In the process, I committed the act of making him the descendant of an enemy and sending him 500 years into the future.
Anyway, as a result, a 21-volume long novel was created. It was an adventure I was attempting for the first time, but looking back, it seems to have been quite fun.
There were many interesting things that happened over the past three years.
I moved my studio, and the writer members also changed. Three new writers joined us.
Last year, during the scorching heat of Daegu, also known as Daefrica (Daegu + Africa) [a humorous nickname for Daegu due to its hot summers], the air conditioner broke down, and we had to evacuate for a month. Fortunately, unlike during *Steel Magician*, the refrigerator didn’t explode.
My next work is currently in the planning stages.
In addition to the synopsis I had originally thought of, I’m planning a few more ideas and will write the most interesting story.
I will come back to you as soon as possible, and I hope you will continue to love my work then as well.
I would like to express my gratitude to CEO Shin Hyun-ho of D&C Media Co., Ltd., and all the staff members who helped publish *Steel Emperor*.
