Hawaii, USA.
Squelch. Squelch.
Having devoured everything edible in Hawaii, the giant leech was now slithering back into the ocean, searching for more prey. Its target: the mainland United States.
Just then,
“Arriving at destination.”
Five transport planes appeared in the sky above Hawaii.
And,
“Starting to drop the bait.”
Lots of blood-filled tanks fell from the planes towards the ground. Some tanks were made to break open on the way down. This was done on purpose to spread the smell of blood and attract the leech from far away.
Squelch. Squelch.
The giant leech smelled the blood and changed direction. It ate the blood tanks that had crashed.
And then,
Crack!
It squeezed the tanks with great force, breaking them and drinking the blood inside.
“Mission successful. Leech’s change of direction confirmed. Returning to base.”
The transport planes turned and flew back to base, their mission done.
When the giant leech first appeared, the army tried to stop it on the beach, but they couldn’t. So, they shot thousands of missiles at it.
Billions of dollars were wasted, but it didn’t do much. When the missiles hit the giant leech, it just split into smaller leeches, and then they joined back together later.
Also, because it didn’t have any food, the leech started moving towards the United States to find something to eat.
With no other option, the army decided to use its strongest weapon—a nuclear missile—on Hawaii and moved the ships away from the area.
That’s when they found bodies that looked like mummies floating in other places. They had no blood in them. There was a path from Hawaii to the American mainland. There was more than one giant leech.
The United States quickly changed its plan.
‘Let’s trick the enemy into staying in Hawaii and keep them there.’
So, they started dropping blood on Hawaii to attract the leeches that liked the smell of blood. This was also cheaper than using missiles. Blood was less expensive, after all.
And so, in a strange way, Hawaii became a place where they were keeping the giant leeches, using blood to keep them there and away from other places.
As they got closer to White Castle, the royal castle of the Red Ribbon Kingdom, they saw a big city around it.
Squeak!
[This is Rabbit City, the capital of the Red Ribbon Kingdom!]
The black rabbit, sitting on Sejun’s shoulder, proudly showed off Rabbit City. It was something to be proud of. The city had buildings of many colors and looked beautiful.
Squeak!
[Rabbit City has a billion rabbits living in it!]
“A billion?!”
From the outside, it didn’t seem like there was enough room for so many rabbits, but then Sejun remembered that they like to dig tunnels, so it made sense.
The underground city was much bigger than the part you could see above ground.
Squeak! Squeak….
[Yes! So….]
The black rabbit was excited that Sejun was surprised and started explaining even more.
As they got to the city entrance, listening to the black rabbit, four black rabbit soldiers guarding the entrance saluted their king.
Squeak!
The black rabbit nodded to them and went into the city, with Sejun following. Theo, Kkuengi, and the golden bat were all holding onto Sejun, so he was the only one walking.
“Wow!”
As Sejun walked into the city, he was amazed again. Lots of rabbits were selling things, eating, making things, and just living their lives.
Seeing the city from the outside made you think it was beautiful, but being inside made you feel a strong, exciting energy.
Squeak!
[Uncle, you can look around the city later. Let me show you the castle first!]
“Huh?! Oh, right.”
The black rabbit wanted to take him to the castle, so Sejun stopped looking at the city. They hurried towards the castle.
“Black rabbit, wait a minute.”
Sejun saw a red crystal in the middle of a big area in front of White Castle and called to the black rabbit. It was a waypoint.
Squeak?
[What is it?]
“Let’s save the waypoint first.”
Sejun wanted to be ready for anything, so he decided to save the waypoint.
Sejun walked to the red crystal and raised his hand.
[Waypoint on the 55th floor of the tower has been saved.]
A message appeared, saying that the waypoint was saved.
“Let’s go now.”
Squeak! Squeak!
[Yes! This way!]
The black rabbit led Sejun to the entrance of White Castle.
Smack!!
The black rabbit soldiers saluted the black rabbit even better than before. You could tell they were well-trained just by looking at them.
Squeak!
The black rabbit nodded to the soldiers and went inside.
And then,
Squeak!
[Call the escort squad!]
As soon as he went in, he called the escort squad to protect Sejun.
Tap tap tap.
Smack!
[Your Majesty! You called us?!]
Ten black rabbits quickly came when the black rabbit called them.
Squeak!
[These guys will protect Uncle from hidden dangers until the wedding is over.]
As the black rabbit spoke,
“There’s no need for that, meow! Pfft. Chairman Park will be protected by Vice Chairman Theo, meow!”
Kkueng! Kkueng!
[That’s right! Kkuengi will protect Daddy!]
Theo and Kkuengi said they wanted to be Sejun’s bodyguards.
However,
Squeak!
[Still, Uncle is weak, so the more guards, the better!]
“That’s true, meow! I understand, meow!”
Kkueng!
[I agree!]
Theo and Kkuengi quickly agreed with the black rabbit. *Guys, I’ve gotten a lot stronger, you know?* Sejun thought he should show them his strength sometime.
Smack! Smack!
[Mr. Sejun, I am Coco, the leader of the escort squad. I look forward to working with you!]
“Yeah. I look forward to working with you, Coco.”
The escort squad, who were assigned to protect Sejun, greeted him.
Squeak!
[Into escort formation!]
Whoosh.
They disappeared, using their stealth abilities.
“Huh?! Where did they suddenly go?”
Sejun was confused because the black rabbits disappeared so quickly.
“Pfft. Can’t Chairman Park see them, meow? They’re here, there, and over there, meow!”
Kkueng!
[They’re behind Daddy and behind that pillar too!]
Theo and Kkuengi could see even the best stealth, so they told Sejun where the hidden escort squad was.
Squeak! Squeak!
[Let’s go for now! I’ll show you around the castle with my family!]
The black rabbit took Sejun to his father and mother rabbit, whom Theo had brought from the 99th floor of the tower, and started showing him around the castle.
Three hours later,
Grumble.
Just as Kkuengi’s stomach made a noise, the black rabbit led Sejun and his friends to the dining hall.
And then, the food started arriving.
“Chairman Park! Grilled fish, meow!”
Theo pointed at the grilled fish with his front paw as soon as he saw it. It meant that he couldn’t leave Sejun’s lap, so Sejun should go to the grilled fish.
“Alright.”
As Sejun walked towards the grilled fish
A bird call! “Kkweang!” chirped happily.
“It smells delicious!” someone said.
Tap tap tap – gentle footsteps approached.
Kkweang, the golden bat, stopped looking around and dashed towards the sweet-smelling food, devouring it without even peeling it.
Crunch crunch.
It was a fruit with golden skin, sweet juice, and a crisp texture. A pear.
Slurp. Slurp.
(Mmm! Delicious!) Kkweang thought.
Beside Kkweang, the golden bat, having flown over in a flash, sank its teeth into the pear, sucking out the juice.
“Lots of tasty things here.”
Sejun, having surveyed the food, began to eat as well.
“Oh! Fried eggs!”
The first dish Sejun tried was fried eggs. The fried eggs were golden brown on the edges, with soft, yellow yolks in the middle.
These eggs weren’t from chickens, but they tasted just like fried eggs.
Munch. Munch.
As he sampled various dishes,
Glug.
A servant placed a cup and poured a black, steaming liquid into Sejun’s glass.
“Is this… coffee?”
Sejun, catching the aroma from the cup, wore a surprised expression. Coffee with hints of caramel and floral scents.
A rich and diverse aroma, incomparable to instant coffee, tickled Sejun’s nose.
Ppyak!
“[I got it by luck! I’ll pack some for you when you leave!]”
“Okay. Thanks.”
Sejun felt pleased by the Black Rabbit’s words. He took a proper sip of the coffee.
Slurp.
The sweet taste of chocolate brushed against his tongue, followed by a heavy bitterness that balanced the flavors.
Gulp.
Finally, a refreshing lemon flavor cleansed his palate. Every sip of coffee tasted different and amazing.
“Wow.”
Whether it was due to the caffeine, far stronger than in instant coffee, or the taste itself, Sejun’s mind, previously drowsy from fullness, snapped awake with a single sip.
“Yes. This is coffee.”
Sejun, satisfied after enjoying coffee that actually tasted like coffee for the first time in a while,
Slurp.
Had a delightful coffee break.
Just then,
Bang!
“[Excuse me!]”
A soldier entered, approached the Black Rabbit, and quietly began to report.
Ppyak?!
“[Again?!]”
Bang! Bang…
“[I’m sorry! We strengthened the security, but…]”
Ppyak! Ppyak!
“[I understand! Preserve the scene, I’ll be right there!]”
From the sound of it, it seemed like a murder. Sejun wondered what was happening. A murder? In this nice place?
Bang!
“[Yes!]”
The soldier hurriedly left the dining hall.
Ppyak. Ppyak.
“[I’m sorry, Uncle. I think I need to get going.]”
“Okay. Don’t worry about me, just do what you need to do.”
Ppyak!
“[I’m sorry to leave so suddenly, Uncle. But I’ll see you tonight! Enjoy the rest of your meal.]”
The Black Rabbit quickly left the dining hall.
And as the meal came to an end,
“By the way, where is the food storage?”
Sejun asked a servant for the location of the food storage, intending to deliver the rice noodles.
Just then,
Bang!
“[I will guide you!]”
Coco, the captain of the guard, released her stealth and led Sejun to the food storage. Coco guided Sejun through the door where the servants were bringing out food.
Passing through the door, they entered a huge kitchen. The air was filled with cooking smells, and chefs of all kinds were busy chopping, stirring, and frying.
Bang!
“[This way!]”
Coco crossed the kitchen and opened a door at the end, revealing a huge food storage built in a wide space. It was cool and dark, filled with shelves piled high with sacks of grain, barrels of pickles, and baskets of fruit.
Arriving at the food storage,
Bang! Bang!
“[This is Sejun, the King’s uncle! Give him whatever he needs!]”
Coco introduced Sejun to the managers of the food storage and,
슥.
Hid herself again, guarding Sejun.
Ppi-shit?
“[Sejun-nim, what do you need?]”
The storage manager, thinking Sejun needed something, asked.
But,
“I want to store this in the warehouse and use it for the Black Rabbit’s wedding. Kkweang, please take out the rice noodles.”
It was the opposite.
Kkweang!
“[Understood!]”
Clang.
Sejun opened his subspace warehouse, and Kkweang began to take out the rice noodles.
Ppi-shit?!
The food storage manager was taken aback by the unexpected situation when,
“Who is this I’m seeing for the first time?”
A voice came from below Sejun.
“Huh?”
As Sejun lowered his head,
“Puhuhut. If I were to introduce myself, I am Theo Park, famous dragon helper!” Theo puffed out his chest.
Theo, a golden fur ball, introduced himself.
However,
“Puh! If you’re going to scam, you should at least know what you’re talking about.”
A golden fur ball mocked Theo. Upon closer inspection, it was a sheep. Its fur was so thick that it had been hidden.
“Scam? What are you talking about? I am really Theo Park!”
“You’re impersonating the popular Theo Park these days. And he’s not a yellow cat, he’s a golden cat, nyaang.”
The merchant Yuren had widely promoted Theo, who had saved him twice, and he was known as the golden cat.
“Nyaang?! I’m the golden cat, nyaang?”
Only he didn’t know he was called that.
“No. Not you. If you keep impersonating him like that, you might run into Uma King or the real Theo Park and be in big trouble, nyaang.”
The golden sheep told Theo to stop impersonating him, saying he could be in big trouble later. Telling him not to impersonate himself…
“Puh!”
Sejun laughed at the sight.
“What?! Are you laughing at me?! I’m trying to be helpful here! Don’t you laugh at Merchant Mimir!”
The golden sheep was furious that his consideration was being ignored.
Bzzzt.
Bluish sparks began to fly from the golden fur ball’s fur. Sejun watched Mimir’s sparks. He felt a little challenged.
Just as Sejun was about to step forward,
Bang! Bang!
“[Stop! Merchant Mimir-nim!]”
The guard surrounded the merchant Mimir to protect Sejun. They couldn’t get close because of the strong sparks.
Just then,
Thud. Thud.
Plop.
Kkweang slowly approached and nonchalantly grabbed Mimir’s chest fur, where sparks were flying strongly, seizing his collar.
Kkweang?!
“[Did you just get angry at my dad?!]”
