Melpise’s Mind.
“Ugh… Where am I?” Melpise groaned, looking around. “This must be my mind.”
He frowned. “Are you saying I passed out because of a baby bear?”
*What was that feeling?*
Melpise thought back to just before he fainted.
At first, the bear seemed like a small problem, just slowing down his *unsealing*. It wasn’t a scary attack.
*But then…*
*Something changed.* Just before the bear’s club hit him, the lightning around it turned from bright gold to a scary, deep red. He couldn’t remember anything after that hit.
“I can’t be careless again!”
Melpise quickly tried to leave his mind and wake up, but then—
*Grrrr…*
*Thump. Thump.*
From the dark shadows, a low growl echoed, and heavy footsteps came closer.
“Huh?” Melpise whispered. “That sound… Could it be Fenrir… Sir?”
*Thump. Thump.*
The footsteps got louder, but no voice answered. Then, more footsteps joined in, coming from all around.
Suddenly—
It *was* Fenrir, Sir!
A huge wolf stepped out of the darkness. His fur was the color of a stormy night, and his eyes glowed with cold fury. He seemed to *burn* with anger.
“Fen… Fenrir, Sir!” Melpise stammered.
As soon as he saw Blackie, Melpise started shaking. He bowed quickly. Blackie’s followers appeared behind him, but Melpise only saw Blackie. The wolf’s anger felt like a heavy weight pressing down on him.
Deep inside, Melpise felt pure terror. *This* was the real Fenrir, Sir. This showed how important Blackie was among the Apostles of Destruction.
Sejun, who just saw Blackie looking for tasty snacks and sleeping like a lazy cat all day, would never believe this.
“Melpise,” Blackie growled, his voice deep and rumbling. “Didn’t you call me a *dog*?”
“Huh? Me?” Melpise’s eyes widened. “No way, Sir! I would never—”
But before he could finish, Eomdori piped up, “Great Blackie, Sir! I heard him too! Melpise called the great Blackie, Sir, a ‘dog’!”
Shari nodded eagerly. “Yes! And he said he’d steal the great Blackie, Sir’s power and become the third strongest Apostle!”
“Fenrir, Sir! I’m so sorry!” Melpise cried out, bowing even lower. *I have to calm him down, or I’m finished!* he thought in panic. He begged Blackie for mercy, his voice shaking.
“Bow your head,” Blackie commanded, his voice leaving no room for argument.
“Yes, Sir! Right away, Sir!” Melpise slammed his forehead to the ground.
“Grrrr,” Blackie rumbled, placing a heavy paw on Melpise’s back. “If you move, you’re in big trouble.”
*Thump.* Blackie’s paw pressed down.
“Yes, Sir! I won’t move!” Melpise squeaked.
Blackie leaned closer and said, “Listen carefully. I’m going to tell you the rules of the great Blackie Family. Rule number one: Always listen to the butler!”
And then, Blackie began to share the secret knowledge he’d learned to survive on the dangerous 99th floor.
Back in the real world, on the 1st floor of the 10th Tower…
“Good job, Kkuenga,” Sejun said, stroking the baby bear’s head.
*Kkuhehehe!* Kkuenga purred happily.
Sejun was amazed. How had Kkuenga knocked out Melpise? Even for Kkuenga, an Apostle of Destruction should be too strong.
*Maybe it was because Melpise was changing form?* Sejun thought. *People are weak when they transform.* He decided that must be it.
*Kkirorong. Eomrorong…*
The Blackie Family was still making strange noises nearby. *Blackie must be getting rid of something bad,* Sejun guessed. He carefully put the sleeping Blackie Family and Melpise into his sling bag.
*[Using 5000L of Creation Energy to make the Tower repair itself 10% faster.]*
*[Using 5000L of Creation Energy to make the Tower repair itself another 10% faster.]*
…and so on. Sejun kept using Creation Energy to speed up the repairs.
Patrick and Hamer, who managed the 10th Tower, were already working hard to fix the damage. Melpise had made a huge mess! But they were too slow.
*[The Tower is now repairing twice as fast as before.]*
*[To make the Tower repair 10% faster now costs 10,000L of Creation Energy.]*
The cost went up, but Sejun had plenty of Creation Energy thanks to Melpise’s destructive power. He kept going. Slowly, the massive hole in the tower wall, ripped open by Melpise, started to close and shrink.
“Park Sejun, thank you,” Patrick said, nodding. “The repair is going much faster because of you.”
“Yes, thank you,” Hamer added with a smile.
The two gods looked relieved that the tower was being fixed.
Suddenly, Theo jumped onto Sejun’s shoulder and puffed out his chest. “Hey! Just saying ‘thank you’ isn’t enough! Where’s the reward, *meow*?!”
Patrick chuckled. “Well, I would make you a divine artifact, but you already have one…” He thought for a moment. “Instead, I can tell you where to find mine.”
“Me too,” Hamer agreed. “I’ll tell you where my divine artifact is.”
So, Sejun learned that Patrick’s divine artifact, the Armor of Earth, was hidden on the 90th floor of the Golden Tower. And Hamer’s divine artifact, the Farming Bible, was on the 77th floor of the Brown Tower.
“What about Enhancement Potions?” Sejun asked, his voice hopeful. “Do you have any of those?”
“Enhancement Potions?” Hamer sighed. “Those take a long time to make. I can only make about one drop each month.”
“So, I can get one in a month?” Sejun asked, his eyes lighting up.
“Well, only if I spend all my time making them…” Hamer started to explain, sounding tired.
But Patrick interrupted, his voice firm. “It *is* possible.”
“Huh?” Hamer looked surprised.
Patrick turned to Hamer. “From now on, you will focus only on making Enhancement Potions.”
“But… I need to rest sometimes,” Hamer protested weakly.
“Then you can spend your breaks finishing your Spirit Stone punishment,” Patrick said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“No, Sir! I’ll work hard! I’ll make Enhancement Potions right away! Is… is five drops enough?” Hamer asked, sounding defeated.
“Ten drops,” Patrick corrected firmly.
“Yes, Sir…” Hamer mumbled.
And just like that, thanks to Patrick’s quick decision, Sejun was promised ten Enhancement Potions, one drop each month for the next ten months. Sejun smiled. Things were looking good. He had made friends with gods and was getting amazing rewards!
*[Using 10,000L of Creation Energy to make the Tower stronger by 100 million points of durability.]*
…and again, and again. Sejun kept making the tower stronger while he waited for Blackie to wake up.
An hour passed. Slowly, Blackie and his followers started to stir.
*Squeak…* Blackie yawned widely, stretching his legs. His followers yawned and stretched too, copying him.
Then, Blackie suddenly sat up straight, his eyes wide.
*Squeak!* “New recruit!” he barked excitedly.
*Moo Moo!* (Yes! New friend is coming!) the cow agreed happily.
A ladybug with tiny horns flew from the massive body of a Melphix. The Melphix had a pair of black horns and red wings, but the ladybug was no bigger than a thumbnail.
Plop.
It gently landed on Camian’s nose.
“Kiechwi! Squeak! Squeak!”
Sejun suddenly sneezed. *Achoo! You idiot! It tickles when you sit on my nose!* he thought angrily at the ladybug.
“Moo, moo…”
(I’m sorry…)
Camian scolded the ladybug.
Camian, having disciplined the ladybug, squeaked.
“Kee hee hee! Squeak! [Hee hee! Butler! I exorcised it!]”
Sejun was introduced to the Melphix.
“Moo, moo! Moo!”
(Greetings, Sejun! I am a newcomer to the great Camian Family!)
The Melphix, having received a stern lesson, greeted Sejun politely.
“Yes, hello.”
As Sejun exchanged greetings with the Melphix, messages appeared in front of him.
[You have defeated the sixth disaster, Ogre.]
[You have gained 500 billion experience points.]
[The Tower Administrator takes 50% of the acquired experience, 250 billion.]
[The Tower Sub-Administrator takes 40% of the acquired experience, 200 billion.]
[You have leveled up.]
[You have gained 1 bonus stat.]
[Strength increases by 30.]
[Strength potential increases by 1%.]
The ogres vanished, leaving behind experience points. They couldn’t move because of the 10th Tower’s strong suction, and they were deprived of their energy.
Thanks to this, Sejun leveled up twice easily, but he didn’t look happy.
“What is this?”
Sejun looked at Patrick and Hamer with angry eyes. “Why are you two taking what I defeated?” he asked, sounding like he was accusing them of stealing. Patrick and Hamer were gods who helped run the tower.
Patrick cleared his throat. “Well, Sejun,” he said, avoiding eye contact, “it’s the system, you see. Nothing personal, really.”
Hamer nodded quickly. “Yes, exactly! The system made us do it,” he added, also looking away.
That darn system!
“System bad, meow!”
Sejun and Theo were furious at the system again.
“The system keeps taking Daddy’s stuff!”
Even Kkuengi was now furious at the system.
Just then,
[The creation energy generated in the 10th Tower has reached 4 million L.]
[The 3rd floor of the 10th Tower is now open.]
[The refining system processing the energy of destruction has increased by 100%.]
The 3rd floor of the 10th Tower opened.
“Stella, go up to the 3rd floor.”
Sejun now had the chance to explore the 2nd floor.
The way to go up the tower was the same as the other towers.
The only difference was…
“Activate.”
The waypoint, a shimmering white crystal, only appeared when Patrick or Hamer, the tower administrators, touched it with their hands. It pulsed with a soft, inner light, waiting for their command.
Plop.
Sejun placed his hand on the white crystal.
[You have cleared the 1st floor of the 10th Tower.]
[As a reward for clearing the 1st floor of the Tower, you have acquired 100 million Tower Coins and 100 billion experience points.]
[All stats increase by 50 as a reward for clearing the 1st floor of the Tower.]
[The waypoint for the 1st floor of the Tower has been saved.]
[Moving to the 2nd floor of the Tower.]
Sejun moved to the 2nd floor of the Tower.
[You have arrived at the 2nd floor of the 10th Tower.]
“Oh! A reward!”
“First time getting one!”
Sejun cheered. It was the first reward he had received since entering the Tower.
“Heh heh heh. This place gives rewards.”
Sejun decided to get all the rewards from the 10th Tower. *From now on, I’ll leave the Gluttons and the Apostles of Destruction’s bodies here, create a lot of creation energy, and open all the floors!*
“Besides being larger than the 1st floor, there’s nothing else different?”
He looked around the 2nd floor. It was huge, four times bigger than the floor below! It stretched out like a giant field, ready for planting.
It would take days to plant everything…
Sejun thought about how many people it would take to plant everything.
“Poo-fu-fu. Hamer, I heard you like popcorn, meow! If you plant these, you can eat a lot of popcorn, meow!”
Theo handed Hamer a handful of exploding stamina corn seeds.
*Hmph! He’s trying to get me to plant them. But I’m not a Tower Farmer, so it’s useless.* Hamer thought. *I’ll just take them and make popcorn.*
Hamer received the seeds, scoffing at Theo’s obvious ploy.
However,
“Poo-fu-fu. My hand slipped, meow!”
Plop.
Theo let go of the seeds as soon as they touched Hamer’s hand with a sly smile.
Tap tap tap.
A few of the seeds fell to the ground.
“Kkueng!”
Kkuengi moved the soil with telekinesis, covering the seeds as if he had been waiting for it.
And then,
“Kee hee hee! Squeak! [Hee hee! Everyone, spit it out!]”
Ptoo.
The Camian Family spat out the water they had been holding in their mouths, watering the seeds.
It was a plan to plant the seeds without waiting for Hamer to plant them himself.
Wh-what is this?!
Hamer was surprised by what happened so quickly.
“It’s still useless. I’m not a Tower Farmer, so…”
He looked at Theo, saying, ‘Look at this amusing fellow.’
[It has been confirmed that Hamer, the Tower Farmer God of Farming of the 10th Tower, is planting exploding stamina corn without permission.]
[According to the Tower’s laws, Park Sejun, the Black Tower Tower Farmer, will now command Hamer, the Tower Farmer God of Farming of the 10th Tower, for 100 years.]
“Huh?!”
A message appeared in Sejun’s eyes saying that he would command Hamer for 100 years.
Hamer was the sub-administrator of the 10th Tower and a Tower Farmer.
“M-me? I was a Tower Farmer?!”
He didn’t know it himself.
“Koo-heh heh heh. Kkueng!”
[Heh heh heh. As expected of our big brother!]
“Kee hee hee! Squeak! [Hee hee! You have to do this much to become my, the great Camian’s, brother!]”
Kkuengi and Camian looked at Theo with admiration.
“Poo-fu-fu. I, Hybrid Theo, the vice president and right-hand man of the great Hybrid Park, knew everything would work out, meow!”
Theo grinned, a wide, mischievous smile spreading across his face. He puffed out his chest, enjoying the way Kkuengi and Camian looked at him with admiration.
Day 462 since entering the tower. Late afternoon, Sejun came to command all the Tower Farmers thanks to the efforts of Theo, Kkuengi, and the Camian Family.
