Black Tower, floor 99. Sejun stopped walking through the farm, a surprised sound escaping him. “Wait… what’s going on?” He stared at the sight before him. Dragons – not just a few, but many – from both the Four Dragons Society and the Five Dragons Society were all together, laughing and drinking. It was a scene he’d never imagined.
“Hello!” Sejun approached the dragons and greeted them.
-Kahaha! Welcome, Sejun!
-You said you came back yesterday?
-Yes. Thank you for your hard work visiting Noil this time.
The dragons usually kept to their own groups. In fact, since they couldn’t agree to form one big group called the Nine Dragons Society, they only ever met when Sejun served food in his cafeteria.
Sejun offered the dragons slices of squid, made from Black Flame Fire Moths. He gave each dragon five pieces. It was a tiny serving compared to the huge plate piled high with squid he’d given Aileen just the day before.
Springy. …?! The dragons, known for their incredible sense of taste, bit into the squid. Their eyes widened. This wasn’t just any squid. It was amazing, unlike anything they had ever tasted.
-Oh! I feel energized!
Lamter, a dragon who breathed fire, felt the energy even stronger. This was because Sejun’s special cooking skill made fire-type food more powerful. And this squid wasn’t made from just any Fire Moth. It was from the Black Flame Fire Moth – the most evolved kind, after the ordinary Fire Moth, White Flame, and Blue Flame. That’s why the effect was so strong.
-Sejun, this isn’t made from ordinary Fire Moths!
Lamter, excited after eating the black squid, said to Sejun,
“Yes. This is made from the Black Flame Fire Moth, which is the final evolution of the Fire Moth.”
Sejun replied, showing the Black Flame Fire Moth.
-Kahaha!
Kaiser started laughing loudly.
-See that?! Black is definitely the best! The ultimate color!
He said to the surrounding dragons, feeling proud. He just wanted to show off.
-Kaiser, what are you even talking about? Have you never tasted carbonara? White is clearly the best!
-Hey! That’s nonsense! Everyone knows red tomato pasta is the king of pasta!
-Pasta? Please! Brown Slime cooked in soy sauce is the greatest food ever!
It turned out, the dragons had become friends recently. They’d started sharing drinks when someone ran out, and somehow, that led to merging their groups. Just yesterday, the Five Dragons Society and the Four Dragons Society had become one: the Nine Dragons Society. But now, only twelve hours later, this brand-new Nine Dragons Society was already on the verge of breaking apart!
-If you don’t acknowledge that crops imbued with the energy of the Blue Moon are the best, disband the Nine Dragons Society!
The great Blue Dragon, Keen, shouted,
-Yes! Well said! Let’s disband!
Tier, who had been arguing that grapes were the best, immediately retorted.
Sejun didn’t know, but the dragons had become close by borrowing and drinking alcohol from each other when they ran out.
“Hey, hey, everyone! Stop arguing! Calm down. Color doesn’t matter. What’s important is the skill of the cook!”
Hehe. It’s delicious because I cooked it.
Sejun joined the dragons’ fight, feeling proud. Sejun had really grown up a lot. To be able to say such arrogant things in front of the great dragons.
-What?!
-Color isn’t important?!
The dragons’ expressions hardened at Sejun’s words.
Uh?! Did I cross the line?
Sejun’s expression also hardened with tension.
A brief silence.
Gulp.
The silence was so suffocating that Sejun swallowed unconsciously.
-That’s… actually true,
one dragon mumbled, considering Sejun’s words.
-Yeah,
another agreed. “If Sejun isn’t cooking, even the best ingredients are nothing special.”
The others nodded in agreement. The tension seemed to melt away as quickly as it had appeared.
-So,
one dragon said, changing the subject completely, “in that case… how about another drink?”
-For the Nine Dragons Society!
-Cheers!
The dragons, as if they had never fought, enjoyed the sliced squid Sejun had given them as snacks and drank together again in harmony.
Five drinks per piece. They had to conserve the precious snacks.
‘It’s a bit stingy.’
Should I have given them more?
As Sejun was worrying while looking at the dragons,
-Sejun, you know the big dragons’ meeting is in a couple of weeks, right?
Crisella Histron, the leader of the Great Silver Dragon, approached Sejun and asked.
“Of course. It’s in 2 weeks and 4 days.”
-Hoo hoo hoo. Yes, you remember well.
Crisella looked at Sejun admirably.
-Well,
Crisella leaned closer, her voice full of hope, “I was really hoping… could you make a main dish with Black Flame Fire Moths for it? It would be amazing. Absolutely amazing.”
She got straight to the point.
“Black Flame Fire Moths?”
-Yes. Can you do it?
Crisella’s voice tone rose a step, filled with anticipation at Sejun’s question.
It seemed to be because the sliced squid was so delicious, or because there was pressure to show something special at the dragons’ meeting. Or maybe both.
“Well, I don’t think it will be easy.”
Sejun couldn’t give Crisella a positive answer. He wanted to say yes without hesitation, but it wasn’t easy to get Black Flame Fire Moths.
-Why? Is there something I did to upset you?
“It’s not that…”
Sejun explained the situation in detail to Crisella, who looked upset.
To get just one White Flame Fire Moth, you need ten thousand Fire Moths to gather together and evolve. Then, to get a Blue Flame Fire Moth, you need one hundred thousand White Flame Fire Moths! And for a Black Flame Fire Moth? You need a million Blue Flame Fire Moths to come together. Basically,” Sejun concluded, “it takes a huge, impossible number of ordinary Fire Moths – trillions of them – just to get one Black Flame Fire Moth.
“And first of all, I think I can only try if I have the land deed for the first floor of the tower.”
-The land deed… wait a little longer.
“Yes.”
Sejun finished talking to Crisella, then ate breakfast with his friends and started his day. Piyott, Yuren, and Poyo were supposed to arrive that morning, but they were late. Sejun guessed Yuren’s bad luck had probably caused some trouble. He wasn’t worried, though. Piyott was young, but he was reliable.
Click.
Sejun opened the door to the 10th tower and lightly examined the tower.
The tower was very quiet because the Doomsday Devourers had all migrated to the Sky Bean planet.
While examining the other floors except for the 7th floor where Hamer and Stella were, and the 9th floor where Patrick was,
[Patrick, the Earth God, says: ‘Better if you see it yourself than me trying to explain it.’]
Patrick sent Sejun a glass bottle containing a drop of chocolate-colored liquid.
[Elixir of Earth]
“Uh?! What is this?”
[The Earth God Patrick says it would be better to see the explanation directly than for him to explain.]
“Yes.”
Patrick chuckled, holding out a small, glowing bottle. “Here you go, Sejun. A little something for your farm.”
Sejun took the bottle and looked at the label that appeared in his mind:
**[Elixir of the Earth]**
*Makes soil super strong! Plants grow bigger and taste amazing! Use on soil to make it the best for growing.*
*Don’t use on the same land again for one month.*
*Only for Top Farmers!*
*Made by: Patrick, the friendly God of Earth*
*Rank: SSS (Super Super Special!)*
Sejun’s eyes widened. “Taste and effects are maximized? Patrick! Why are you giving me this *now*?!” He playfully scolded the God of Earth. “If you had something this amazing, you should have given it to me right away!” Sejun grinned, but inside he was truly excited. This elixir sounded incredible!
Patrick was quiet, looking a little embarrassed by Sejun’s reaction.
Actually, Patrick hadn’t really wanted to make the Elixir of the Earth. It seemed like too much work.
But, after he saw Hamer give Sejun the Elixir of Enhancement, he felt a little self-conscious. He knew Sejun would be the landlord of the 10th Tower soon. So, Patrick thought he should give Sejun something like rent. That’s why he decided to make the Elixir of the Earth.
Patrick said, “Let’s just forget about that part.”
Patrick added, “I’ll give you five drops of the Elixir of the Earth every month from now on.”
“Really? You’ll give me five drops of this? Alright,” Sejun said.
Sejun quickly accepted Patrick’s offer and agreed to get 5 drops of the Elixir of the Earth each month.
Now that he was done talking with Patrick, Sejun wondered, “Should I plant some green onions now?”
Sejun started planting Detox Green Onions on the first floor of the tower.
Theo followed Sejun, planting Detox Green Onions. “Puhuhu. I’m the fastest planter, meow! I’m the right-hand man of the great Chairman Hybrid Park!”
Iona planted peanuts, saying, “Ggyut ggyut ggyut. I won’t be beaten!”
Ggueng happily planted corn. Ggueng barked, “Gguhehehe. Ggueng is a master of planting!”
Ggang, who had lost some weight and become slimmer, also hurried around planting sweet potatoes. “Kkihihit. Gging! Gging! The great Ggang is now slender after dieting! Now the great Ggang is the fastest!”
Three hours later, Ggang ran to Sejun, asking for food. “Gging! Butler! The great Ggang is hungry from moving around so much!”
Just then, Ggueng’s stomach also growled loudly.
“Alright. Let’s go eat,” Sejun said.
Sejun took his friends back to the 99th floor of the Black Tower, and they had lunch together.
After lunch, Sejun went back to the first floor and looked at the dolls he had planted.
“Grow well, my little ones,” he whispered.
He dropped the Elixir of the Earth, which Patrick had given him, onto the soil where the Baby Ginseng Doll, Baby Deadly Nightshade Doll, and Baby Mandrake Doll were planted.
“Hehehe. Good. The effects are working well,” Sejun said.
There weren’t any big changes that he could see, but Sejun could tell that the herbs looked healthier.
Just then, Ggueng brought Sejun coffee. “Gguhehehe. Daddy, drinking coffee!”
“Yeah. Thanks,” Sejun said, taking a sip.
“Kuh! The coffee Ggueng makes is the best, as always!” He looked very happy and gave Ggueng a thumbs up.
Ggueng was very pleased by Sejun’s reaction. “Gguhehehe.”
A little while later, Sejun said, “Ah. That was good. Well, let’s go back to work now.”
Sejun finished his coffee, and he and his friends went through the dimensional gate to Sky Bean Planet.
They did the same thing they did on the 10th Tower. Sejun and his friends planted sky-reaching beans on the Kraken’s body to help the planet grow. They also planted seeds of Doom Pioneers and Doom Devourers.
After planting seeds for about an hour, Krisella came through the dimensional gate and called out to Sejun. “Sejun.”
She handed Sejun the land deed for the shop on the first floor of the Silver Tower. “Here’s the land deed.”
Krisella continued, “Sejun, can you go right now? There’s a world that was just connected, and it looks like it’s about to be destroyed.”
“Yes. I’ll go right away. Everyone!” Sejun said urgently.
Sejun quickly called his friends back to the Black Tower. Then he said goodbye to Aileen. “Aileen, I’ll be back.”
He left for the Silver Tower.
Sejun arrived at the shop on the first floor of the Silver Tower.
Two men with friendly faces greeted Sejun. “Welcome! This is Bling Bling Silver & Cash!” The shop looked fancy, with bright lights and signs of wealth.
Sejun was surprised. He was used to people being scared or surprised when they saw him and his companions, especially in the lower levels of the tower. “Huh?! They’re not fainting?” he thought.
Clang…
Sejun was curious and stood in front of the door to the subspace warehouse, which was about to open. He stopped it with his hand and asked, “Bling Bling Silver & Cash?”
One of the men said, “Ah! It seems you haven’t heard about our Bling Bling Silver & Cash. We lend money to people who need quick cash and charge very reasonable interest…” He had an overly nice smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. The other man stood beside him, looking a bit nervous.
Sejun realized they were loan sharks. *Then they must have a lot of money?* he thought.
“Hehehe. Come out, everyone,” he said.
He called his companions, and they rushed out as the door to the subspace warehouse opened.
“Stop coming out. See this land deed? This is my shop now,” Sejun said with a confident look.
One of the employees of Bling Bling Silver & Cash protested, “Don’t be ridiculous! This is our Bling Bling Silver & Cash headquarters!”
The other added, “Yeah! If the boss finds out, you’re a dead man!”
“You don’t want to leave? Then you can join our Sejun Company,” Sejun said with a villainous smile.
Theo grinned. “Puhuhu. Good idea, meow!”
Thwack. Thwack.
Theo hit the two employees of Bling Bling Silver & Cash on the back of the head, and they fainted. Now they were officially employees of Sejun Company.
Just then, Oba, the president of Bling Bling Silver & Cash, came out of the president’s office. “What…”
Ggueng barked and hit Oba on the back of the head. “Ggueng!”
Wham!
Oba also became an official employee of Sejun Company.
And so, Bling Bling Silver & Cash, which had been famous (or rather, infamous) in the Silver Tower, quietly disappeared.
