Farming in the Tower Alone [EN]: Chapter 670

Why Don't I Have Any Friends?

Sejun stood on the porch of his family home, feeling a little nervous but happy. *Ding-dong.* He pressed the doorbell.

*Clank.* Before he could even step back, the door swung open.

“Oh, you’re all here!”

Sejun’s mother, Kim Miran, rushed out, a little out of breath but with a huge smile.

She welcomed Sejun and his friends warmly.

“I’m so happy you came!” she said brightly.

*Squeak!*

[Hello!]

*Koohehehe. Kkueng! Kkueng!*

[Hehe. Hello, Grandma! It’s Kkueng!]

*(Baet baet. Hello.)*

*Kkihihit. Kking! Kking!*

[Hehe. Butler Mom, look! These are all friends of the great Blackie!]

The friends who knew Kim Miran greeted her first. Theo, of course, was the only one who could talk like a human.

After she greeted her old friends, Kim Miran noticed the new faces. “Oh my! Are these new sweethearts?”

Kim Miran loved anything cute, and she immediately started to pet Iona and Blackie’s friends, making soft cooing sounds.

“Kkyut kkyut kkyut. Sejun-nim’s mother, hello. I am Iona,” Iona said politely.

“Greetings!” the others chirped and squeaked.

*Squawk!*

*Shalala!*

..

.

Iona and Blackie’s friends also said hello to Kim Miran.

“Hohoho. It’s lovely to meet you all,” Kim Miran said, her smile wide and warm.

“Mom,” Sejun said from behind the group, sounding a little grumpy, “I’m here too, you know.”

“Oh, you’re here, son?” Kim Miran said, turning to him with a playful smile. “Come on in, then.” She winked at him and led the way into the house, Sejun and the others following.

When they walked into Sejun’s house, the dining room was filled with food. Park Chunho and Sedol were still putting out dishes, following Kim Miran’s directions. There was a mountain of food – plates piled high with colorful dishes, steaming bowls, and platters overflowing with meat. It looked like a feast fit for a king, with enough food to feed a huge crowd. Knowing Kkueng’s big appetite, though, Sejun wasn’t sure there would be much left over.

“Father, I’m home,” Sejun said.

“Welcome home,” Park Chunho replied warmly.

“Hyung, you’re here!” Sedol greeted him.

Sejun smiled and helped carry some of the last dishes to the table.

“Let’s eat, then!” Kim Miran announced happily.

As soon as everything was ready, they all started eating.

“Kuh,” Sejun sighed contentedly, “Mom’s kimchi stew is the best! I can never make it taste this good.”

*Koohehehe. Kkueng!*

[Hehe. Yes! Grandma’s kimchi stew is amazing!]

*Squeak!*

[So good!]

Sejun, Kkueng, and Heukwolbok eagerly ate Kim Miran’s spicy kimchi stew, a taste they missed so much when they were away in the Tower.

“Puhu! Mr. Park, Mr. Park, give me Churu, meow!” Theo, with Iona following close behind, jumped onto Park Chunho’s lap and demanded his favorite cat treat, Churu.

“Hehehe. Which flavor would you like today?” Park Chunho asked, a little boastfully, showing off the box of over 20 different Churu flavors he had prepared.

“Puhu! Mr. Park, your preparation is truly excellent, meow! I will try each one to decide, meow!” Theo purred, praising Park Chunho’s thoughtfulness.

“Alright, alright,” Park Chunho chuckled, pleased with Theo’s praise. He carefully peeled open a Churu stick, a happy smile on his face.

“Kkyut kkyut kkyut,” Iona chirped softly, watching Theo with admiration. *I’m so glad Theo-nim is happy.*

Iona looked at the table. There wasn’t anything she could eat from the main dishes Kim Miran had made. She was about to nibble on the stir-fried peanuts Sejun had given her when Kim Miran noticed.

“Iona, dear, try some of these!” Kim Miran said, bringing over a beautiful bowl filled with different kinds of nuts.

The bowl had macadamia nuts and pecans, nuts Iona had never seen before.

“Kkyut?” Iona tilted her head, curious. She picked up a macadamia and tasted it.

*It’s… amazing!* The rich, buttery flavor exploded in her mouth.

Iona happily munched on the different nuts, trying each kind like she was at a fancy buffet.

*Kkihihit. Kking! Kking! Kking!*

[Hehe. Butler Mom, look at this! The great Blackie-nim’s secret move! Standing up!] Blackie barked, wanting to show off his charm to Kim Miran. He stood on his hind legs, wobbling slightly but holding his balance proudly.

“Oh my goodness! Our puppy is standing on two feet?!” Kim Miran exclaimed, clapping her hands in delight.

*Kkihihit. Kking!*

[Hehe. I can even walk like this!] Blackie took a few wobbly steps, pleased with himself.

Kim Miran clapped even harder at Blackie’s little performance.

But then, Blackie’s true motive came out. *Kkihihit. Kking!*

[Hehe. Butler Mom! The great Blackie-nim was very good, so tell the butler to give me sweet potato jerky!] All Blackie really wanted was sweet potato jerky. He was hoping to use Kim Miran’s love to get lots of treats.

And just as planned, Kim Miran turned to Sejun. “Sejun, give Blackie some sweet potato jerky.”

“Mom, no. Blackie is trying to lose weight,” Sejun protested.

“What are you talking about? He feels like skin and bones! Quickly, give him the sweet potato jerky,” Kim Miran insisted.

As Blackie expected! *Kking! Kking!*

[Yes! The great Blackie-nim deserves more!] Blackie barked happily, wagging his tail and leaning against Kim Miran.

*Blackie, you clever dog,* Sejun thought, shaking his head with a smile. *Using Mom to get treats? I’ll remember this when we get home.*

“Okay, okay,” Sejun relented, chuckling.

“Oh, does my sweet puppy want sweet potato jerky?” Kim Miran cooed, petting Blackie.

*Kkihihit.* Blackie barked happily in response.

The pleasant meal continued, filled with laughter and happy sounds.

“Hyung…” Sedol said, his voice low and serious.

“Puh,” Sejun chuckled, “Did you get your heart broken again?” He teased Sedol, seeing his gloomy face.

“Who got dumped?!” Sedol snapped back, annoyed at Sejun’s joke. But then, his shoulders slumped, and his serious expression returned.

“Hoo…” Sedol sighed heavily. “Ah… how do I even say this?” He struggled to find the right words, looking troubled.

“What is it? Just tell me,” Sejun said, sensing that something was really wrong. He put down his spoon, his playful mood gone.

Just then, *Ding-dong.* The doorbell rang.

“I’ll get it!” Sedol jumped up quickly, almost too quickly, and rushed to the front door.

“What could it be?” Sejun wondered, a little worried now. *Is something bad happening?*

He pushed those thoughts aside and focused back on his food. He mixed the spicy kimchi stew broth into his rice, took a big spoonful, and ate.

“Mmm,” he murmured, enjoying the delicious taste.

As Sejun was happily eating, Sedol returned, bringing someone with him. Someone who definitely shouldn’t be here.

“Sera,” Sedol said, his voice strained, “This is my hyung, Sejun.”

A woman stood behind Sedol, stepping into the dining room. She was beautiful, even more so than in the pictures Sejun had seen online. She looked shy and a little nervous.

“Hello,” she said softly, her voice like a whisper. “My name is Kim Sera.”

“······” Sejun stared, his mouth slightly open, still full of rice.

Sera. *Moonlight Fairy Sera.* The famous online streamer he had only ever watched on his phone, was standing right here, in his family home.

*Why is Moonlight Fairy Sera here?!*

*Why is she at our house for dinner?!*

Sejun stopped chewing. He stared at Sera. She stood quietly next to Sedol. He was very surprised to see her.

He looked at Sera. His heart was calm. He used to think Sera was the best. But now… He smiled to himself. “Aileen is much prettier,” he thought. “I miss Aileen.”

Sera was just a memory now, like an old song.

“Ahem,” someone coughed. Sejun blinked, coming back to reality. He quickly swallowed his food. “Ah! Hello,” he said to Sera.

Sejun didn’t know what had happened. But his family and the family next door, the Kims, had become friends. Sera and Sedol saw each other often. Then…

Sedol spoke seriously. “Brother, I am dating Sera.” That serious face Sedol had earlier? It was because of this news.

“What… did you say?” Sejun felt a little surprised. *Sedol is dating Sera?* Even though he didn’t like Sera like that anymore, it felt strange. Memories are important, after all.

“Sera, come and have breakfast too.”

“Yes, Mother.”

Sera joined them for the meal at Kim Mi-ran’s invitation.

Suddenly, a small sound: “Hee hee hee! Squeak?!” A tiny creature jumped forward. “[Hee hee! Who are you?! I am Blackie, the greatest!]” Blackie wanted to show who was boss.

Sera smiled. “Oh, how cute!” Blackie made everyone relax.

“How did you two meet?”

“How long have you been dating?”

Various stories were exchanged during the meal.

Sejun put on a serious face. “Sedol,” he said, “you know our family is very important, right? We have a long history.” Sedol looked confused. *Our family?*

Park Chun-ho nodded, looking proud. “So,” Sejun continued, “in our family, the oldest son must marry first. That means *I* have to marry before you.”

“Huh?” Sedol said. “Swear to me,” Sejun said, “you won’t get married until I do!” Sejun’s talk about the family was just to say this.

“No way. Who does that in this day and age?!” Sedol refused, sensing something ominous in Sejun’s words.

Park Chun-ho also shook his head, telling him not to say such nonsense.

It was a great relief. Even God couldn’t know when Sejun would marry Aileen, as it was an unknown territory.

As the meal ended…

“Kkuenga. Let’s show Grandpa and Grandma Kkuenga’s coffee skills.”

Kkuenga made coffee. *Slurp.* “Kkuenga is amazing! Good at eating, good at making coffee!”

“Wow, this coffee is so good!”

“Better than any cafe coffee!”

“I’ve had coffee all over the world, but this is the best!” Everyone loved Kkuenga’s coffee. It tasted wonderful.

Kkuenga was happy to receive compliments.

‘Of course. Of course.’

Sejun quietly nodded with a pleased expression at the sound of praising Kkuenga.

“It’s super delicious, right? Our Kkuenga makes coffee really well. If Kkuenga goes to the barista competition, Kkuenga will win right away!” Soon, he couldn’t hold back and started boasting about his child.

“Brother, what kind of coffee bean is this?” Sedol asked. “It tastes different.”

“Black Tower 94 Chikasan Sejun,” Sejun said.

“Black Tower? You grew it in the coffee tower?”

“Yes.”

“Is it a special item?” Sedol asked. “What does it do?” Sedol knew Sejun was a hunter and could see item details.

“For hunters, it gives more magic power and faster magic recovery. For normal people, it makes you stronger and helps you focus for three hours, I think.”

“Really?! Hyung, can I sell this at my cafe?!” Sedol, who had wanted to run a cafe for a while, asked Sejun.

“You want to?”

“Yeah.”

“Okay. Then I’ll send it to you starting next month.” Sejun readily granted his brother’s request.

“Thank you! Hyung!”

“If you’re thankful, let me get married first.”

“I don’t want to.”

“Tch. I’m definitely getting married before you.” Sejun got up from his seat, burning with enthusiasm.

As they talked and ate non-stop, it was already 1 PM. He had to stop by the mart to pick up the items he had ordered in bulk, go to the department store to buy clothes, and attend Kyung-chul’s 5 PM wedding; time was tight.

“Sejun, pack some food to take with you.”

Kim Mi-ran called out to Sejun.

“Yes.”

Sejun followed Kim Mi-ran.

“Huh? Mom, where are you going?” Kim Mi-ran was leaving the kitchen and heading to the basement.

They went down to the basement. “Mom! What is all this?” Sejun was amazed. The basement was full of a giant freezer, bigger than a house! *Clang.*

Kim Mi-ran opened the freezer door. “I made this for you, a little at a time.” Inside, food boxes were stacked high, all the way to the ceiling. [Sejun’s favorite soybean paste stew] Little notes were on each box, with loving messages.

“Mom, you are the best!” Sejun felt so loved by his mother’s kindness.

“Heh heh heh. Mom, I’ll enjoy the food. Guys, let’s load it up.” Sejun thanked Kim Mi-ran and opened the subspace warehouse to diligently load the food.

Suddenly, a message popped up in front of Sejun: **[Quest Alert!]** **Quest:** *Heath, the One-Eyed Bear Pirate, is attacking Earth! He is very dangerous! Defeat Heath and save Earth!* **Reward:** Peace for Earth, Stats +30, 3 Billion Tower Coins.

“Pirates?!” Sejun was shocked. Then another message: **[Warning! Earth is in danger! Powerful enemies are here! Earth is starting to break apart!]** **[If this continues for 5 minutes, Earth will be destroyed!]** **[Pay enemy stay cost with your money to save Earth?]** System 371 offered a solution.

“Haa… I’ll pay!” Sejun had no choice. He had to pay to save Earth. *They are taking my money! I will get them back!* Sejun paid, feeling angry.

*BOOM!* *Beep?!* “[Where are we?!”] a voice shouted. “Uhehehe, I don’t know!” another voice laughed. “Mohehehe! I can feel Sejun’s bad luck!” The sky ripped open. Giant ships appeared. Bbyot, Yuren, and Poyo were there too!
