Side Story 9
“How can you hog it all to yourself?”
“……I was being gentle.”
Baek Eun-hee appeared and chimed in at Yoo Ji-an’s sulky reply.
“That’s right, you greedy Yoo Ji-an. Or should I say, Snow White?”
“…….”
“Let’s go, Tae-woo. There’s the exit.”
Ignoring Yoo Ji-an’s cold glare, Baek Eun-hee grabbed Yang Tae-woo by the scruff of his neck and headed out of the gate.
Yoo Ji-an leaped down next to Seo-ah in a huff.
“Let’s go, us too.”
Seo-ah took Yoo Ji-an’s hand and looked around the gate one last time before heading for the exit.
A gate where one story had ended.
Seo-ah knew that these were just data from a destroyed world. Even so, she couldn’t help but feel a little sad about them disappearing like this.
“Just a moment.”
“Why?”
Seo-ah rummaged through her inventory and took out a camera. It was a special camera that could be stored in her inventory.
Holding it in her hand, she pointed the lens and pulled Yoo Ji-an closer.
“Smile!”
Yoo Ji-an, caught off guard, smiled awkwardly as the camera shutter clicked.
Click.
For some time now, Seo-ah had made sure to bring a camera to the gate and take pictures whenever possible.
“Is this a date in its own way? It was fun.”
Yoo Ji-an had a strange expression for a moment but nodded soon after.
“Yeah, if you enjoyed it.”
Holding hands, they stepped into the vortex. As they passed through the familiar, dark passage, Seo-ah kept talking.
“But how did you really go to the bathroom?”
“…….”
“How did it feel to be a woman? You were pretty, ah……! I should have taken a picture of that too. What a waste!”
“Please, spare me that.”
Even as Yoo Ji-an sighed and swept back his hair, Seo-ah just laughed.
The two of them completely exited the gate. It turned out to be the park near the Korean beef restaurant they had gone to earlier.
Barricades were set up around the gate, and Hunter Association officials were controlling pedestrians and vehicles.
Hunter Oh Hyun-soo approached and greeted them.
“I heard a brief story from those who came out earlier. It was a place with a Snow White fairy tale setting.”
“Yes! Hunter Yoo Ji-an was Snow Wh… Ooph!”
Yoo Ji-an covered Seo-ah’s mouth from behind and pulled her closer. Then, he glared fiercely at Oh Hyun-soo.
“Report it appropriately. Appropriately. Got it?”
“Ah, yes……. I understand. Anyway, there are no casualties…….”
Yoo Ji-an hugged Seo-ah’s waist and leaped up. Then, he moved far away, avoiding people’s attention.
The place Yoo Ji-an chose was the top of the tower where they currently lived. It was a high and precarious place, but it wasn’t very dangerous for them.
The two sat side by side on the slanted roof.
“Pfft……!”
Seo-ah made a sound that was hard to tell whether she was laughing or just exhaling, and she removed the hand covering her mouth.
“Come on! You have to tell the truth!”
“No.”
“Why? What’s wrong with being a princess! I was a dwarf……!”
“You…….”
Seo-ah’s face was reflected in Yoo Ji-an’s dark eyes.
“You were cute.”
“Hunter Yoo Ji-an was also pret… Mmph.”
Yoo Ji-an kissed her to stop Seo-ah from saying any more. He held her cheek with one hand and pulled her shoulder close.
Seo-ah’s hair fluttered in the strong night breeze blowing from the high-rise building, obscuring their faces.
After a long kiss, Seo-ah stared blankly at Yoo Ji-an. Yoo Ji-an smiled and added one more word.
“Let’s go in.”
Seo-ah’s face flushed red. Yoo Ji-an hugged her waist once again and slid down the high building as if running.
* * *
“Okay, look here! One, two, three!”
Seo-ah, wearing a black mortarboard [academic cap] and gown, stood in front of the building with her classmates.
Click, click.
“Your hair is a little messy here.”
“Yours too, wait a minute, let me fix your mortarboard.”
After taking several pictures, they moved to another place and talked. At first, the people at school looked at Seo-ah with curiosity, but after a few years, they accepted her as a friend.
So she made a group of friends and had a pretty fulfilling campus life.
‘I didn’t get to have a campus couple experience…….’
It was a little disappointing that she never got to go on a blind date. Because she and Yoo Ji-an were such a famous couple, no one brought up that kind of topic to Seo-ah.
Anyway, today was the last day of that campus life, graduation day.
“Oh, my mom’s here! Seo-ah, I’ll get going. Congratulations on graduating!”
“Me too. Seo-ah, we have to keep in touch, okay?”
“Yeah, of course. Congratulations on graduating, everyone!”
As the families of the friends who were with her arrived, Seo-ah was left alone before she knew it.
“……Hmm.”
Looking at the scenery of the campus with a fresh feeling, Seo-ah stood alone in the plaza in front of the building.
“When are they coming?”
Grumbling, she scuffed the ground with her toes, and then she heard a buzzing sound from far away.
Intermittently, there were sounds mixed in that were hard to tell whether they were screams or cheers. A smile formed on Seo-ah’s face as she raised her head.
With a bright smile, she waved her hand high.
“Over here!”
Baek Eun-hee and Yoo Ji-an were walking down the campus road as if on a runway. But there was something that clearly stood out.
“Wow…….”
It was the enormously large bouquets of flowers in their hands.
Yoo Ji-an’s was slightly, just a little bit smaller, and that seemed to be why his expression wasn’t good.
“Pfft…….”
Seeing his face as if he had lost, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Seo-ah!”
Baek Eun-hee called out to Seo-ah loudly first, and then Kang Soo-jung and Park Geon-hoo, who had been hidden behind her, ran out.
“Seo-ah unnie [term for older sister]! Congratulations on graduating!”
“Noona [term for older sister]!”
“Oh, you guys came too.”
While greeting them with a smile, Yoo Ji-an handed her the bouquet of flowers first. Just that one filled her arms.
“Congratulations on graduating.”
“Th, thank you.”
“Here, Seo-ah. Congratulations on graduating too. My flowers are bigger, right?”
Seo-ah put one of the flowers she had already received over one shoulder, and then barely managed to receive the flowers that Baek Eun-hee gave her.
The volume was large, but fortunately, it wasn’t too difficult to carry. It was a moment where it was a great relief to be an S-class hunter.
“Th…ank you.”
Adjusting her mortarboard and buried in flowers and hunters, Seo-ah took a few more pictures.
And on the way back, Baek Eun-hee, who was walking next to Seo-ah, spoke.
“You said you’re doing it right after graduation, right?”
“Yes, but I’m going to Europe first.”
“Europe? Ah, so you’re planning to attend this time.”
“Yes, I kept putting it off because I didn’t have time. And it’s convenient because I can see them all at once.”
The
Baek Eun-hee, scratching her chin and looking at the air, said.
“But there are a lot of crazy people there. There are countries where hunters are treated almost like kings. Well, it doesn’t matter, but.”
Baek Eun-hee showed her fist and smiled brightly. It seemed like she meant that if they got in her way, she would just beat them up.
“Ahahaha…….”
Seo-ah smiled awkwardly and turned her gaze away.
The voices of Kang Soo-jung and Park Geon-hoo, who seemed to have become quite close while bickering, could be heard from behind.
And Yoo Ji-an, who had come to her side before she knew it, was also there, helping to carry the bouquets of flowers that Seo-ah was holding.
Seo-ah lowered her head, pretending to smell the flowers to hide her flushed face.
It was a perfectly happy moment.
* * *
“So this is it……!”
Seo-ah, as the head of the World Hunter Federation, had received invitations every year, but she had never attended because of incidents. She had kept putting it off, so today was her first time attending in person.
With an excited face, Seo-ah looked back and forth between the entrance to the international conference hall and the name tag hanging around her neck. She had finished registering before the other hunters who came with her, so she was standing alone near the entrance.
Seo-ah rolled her eyes.
It was very fascinating to see world-renowned hunters, whom she had only seen on screen, passing by.
“Wow…… Leonardo DiCaprio…….”
Being famous here wasn’t necessarily about being a strong hunter. There were pop stars and Hollywood stars, and there were also people who were politicians or models.
Seeing them in person, she couldn’t help but get excited.
As she was standing there looking around, someone bumped into her shoulder hard from behind.
“Ouch.”
“What? Why are you standing here, getting in the way?”
When she turned around, a white man dressed like a prince was looking at Seo-ah with a frown as well.
