Player as a Constellation – Episode 250 (End) (250/250)
Episode 250
“You, damn gnats!”
Water surged from Trimm’s entire body.
Around him, numerous Constellations were trapped in blocks of ice.
“Hah, it’s tough….”
Schurt supported his sword of flames on the ground.
Constellations surrounded Schurt.
“…Isn’t this a bit dangerous? There are more Constellations and angels than I thought.”
“It’s still manageable, though?”
Cancun and Kudan stood back-to-back, facing the angels and Constellations.
“Hoo… It’s twice as hard trying to capture them without killing them.”
Helga bound the Constellations with golden chains and stomped on their heads.
Pause-.
She lifted her head.
The blue sky.
A black shadow fell on the giant sun.
It felt like a giant wolf was soaring into the sky.
“…That is…?”
Fenrir?
***
Therios froze.
A space of pitch-black darkness.
“Where is…?”
“You probably can’t devour the sun.”
Therios looked around.
Loki’s voice was heard, but he couldn’t tell where Loki was at all.
It was natural.
He was the Sun God.
Having received the sun’s blessing, his whole body shone, so darkness was utterly unfamiliar to him.
Therios looked at his hands.
The brilliant light no longer emanated from his trembling hands.
Without the sunlight, his immortality gradually disappeared.
Therios’ face turned pale.
“But devouring you is a different story.”
Loki’s red eyes gleamed in the darkness.
Pitch-black shadows poured out from his entire body, enveloping all of Elysion.
If it’s hard to eat the sun, then just eat the Sun God.
The beast that caused the end enveloped all of Elysion, extinguishing the sun’s blessing.
Therios revealed trembling eyes. And he slightly raised his eyes.
「If you kill me, there will be no blessing of the sun. So, Constellation of the End. My brother! I hope you will have mercy. I will grant you everything you ask for….」
“There’s something I always tell you guys.”
A chilling voice came from behind Therios.
“I don’t care.”
A blade pierced Therios’ heart.
「Kuaaaaaaak!」
“You’ve suffered enough until now. Struggling to survive.”
「Uaaaak! Brother! Please… have mercy…!」
Loki raised Gungnir [Odin’s spear, known for its unerring aim and magical properties].
Pitch-black flames blazed on Gungnir.
Therios was engulfed in pitch-black fire.
Death spread throughout his body.
Fenrir and Jormungandr sprang from Loki’s armor, tearing apart Therios’ limbs and spitting them out.
「Ah… Aaaah-!」
Therios experienced hell.
He felt the pain.
It felt like his flesh and soul were burning.
He recalled the past as death approached.
Stabbing Azelan in the back and lifting him up with a spear.
And the countless Constellations tearing his body to pieces and enjoying the feast.
That past was being repeated to him.
「Ah… Azelan… Lord…!」
Therios’ entire body burned, and soon golden light burst out.
Instantly, the pitch-black shadow that enveloped Elysion disappeared.
Everyone looked at the sky.
The blazing sun gradually began to turn black.
The death of the Sun God, Therios.
The sun that illuminated the world was veiled in darkness.
***
“Th, the sun… disappeared…?”
Milani Zell looked up at the sky with his lower body crushed.
His eyes were filled with despair.
“You dare kill the Constellations who rule the world and think you can survive?!
Gradually, his vision also turned black.
“That’s what the Constellation of the End wanted. Brat.”
Shaman looked at Milani Zell like that. And he lifted his leg.
“Wa, wait-!”
Surely, he’s not going to step on the emperor with that foot!
“Yo, you’re going to insult me?! I am the emperor! At least grant me a noble death-!”
“Brat.”
Shaman stepped on Milani Zell’s head and crushed it.
“Just die.”
Night came.
Darkness filled the air.
As the sun created by the Sun God Therios disappeared, only darkness settled in the sanctuary.
“Everyone, light a fire!”
The Asgard Allied Forces lit a fire.
Kudan turned his gaze.
Constellations and angels could be seen flapping their wings and fleeing.
“…Huh, they looked down on us, but in the end, they’re running away.”
It was rather good.
They were too exhausted to hunt them anyway.
Kudan changed from his werewolf form to his human form.
He sat down and said to Cancun.
“We need to spread light.”
Cancun spread his wings and flew up, scattering light.
This place, filled with darkness, was illuminated by the dust of light.
At that moment, Cancun saw it.
Loki was coming down the stairs from the top of the tower.
In his hand, the Sun God was dangling, pierced by a spear.
The Elysion Allied Forces were stunned by the sight.
“…It’s a defeat.”
The Elysion Allied Forces dropped their weapons.
The Milani Zell Emperor was nowhere to be seen, the Constellations and angels were hunted, and the survivors abandoned them and fled.
There was no longer any point in fighting.
The door of the carriage guarded by the Holy Knights opened.
Jaus, who participated in the war, trembled as he saw Loki’s appearance and the death of the Sun God.
「Azelan! Finally, finally, you have taken your revenge!」
Loki looked down at the Elysion Sanctuary from the stairs.
The war was over.
The cheers of victory resounded.
“Constellation of the End!”
「Loki!」
Trimm shouted with joy.
「It’s freedom. Now it’s freedom!」
Schurt leaned on his sword of fire and sat down.
「…I can make a lot of magical artifacts with this.」
“Haha! What kind of artifact should I make first!?”
Urgart and Kanus smiled.
Loki looked at those who were cheering and then looked at Therios, who was pierced by Gungnir.
“…It’s the same as with Mercury.”
Loki raised his spear.
And as he emitted magic power, a brilliant light burst from Therios’ body and soared high into the sky.
A faint sunlight flowed from the sky.
A part of the sun, which had been covered in black, was revealed and illuminated the world.
The cheers grew even louder at the sight.
“…I won’t be able to rest for a while.”
Ragnarok [The end of the world in Norse mythology], subjugating the Constellations.
Loki announced its end.
The sanctuary was devastated.
The fire that rose there burned for three days without going out.
The citizens who lived there and were destined to be sacrificed to the Constellations had shackles on their wrists.
Since there were millions of them, they were left in front of the sanctuary’s meadow without being able to bind them all.
They all showed different reactions.
Believers who had such fervent faith that they would give everything to the corrupted Constellations wept, while those who were forcibly dragged in and destined to be sacrificed were overjoyed.
Loki looked at those believers being taken as prisoners and said.
“Release them all.”
“Is that okay?”
Although few, the corrupted Constellations and angels escaped.
They may gather these believers again and form a force.
“They’ve already been defeated anyway.”
They are cowards anyway.
They will now be reluctant to appear in the world again.
Even if they do appear, we can just hunt them down.
That’s what Loki wanted.
Loki looked around in front of the sanctuary.
It was an atmosphere of rejoicing in victory, but it was clear that they were exhausted.
It’s not even an atmosphere to hold a banquet.
Loki shrugged and said.
“Everyone worked hard.”
It will be quiet for a while now. That will soon be proof of peace.
“Let’s all go back.”
Everyone’s eyes were on Loki.
“Home.”
“Let’s start the festival!”
“Waaaaaa!”
The festival was held throughout Asgard.
It was a festival commemorating the victory over the former corrupted Constellations and the new world.
During this time, even slaves could become free and enjoy some rights.
“…This festival lasts for about a month, right?”
Aum blinked from the balcony of Valhalla Palace and asked Per.
“Yes, unfortunately.”
“Oh my god! Even if you’re full of energy… Other festivals last for a week at most…!”
Aum sighed deeply.
Just in case, he had been stockpiling food and finances, but with the Nord’s unique appetite and generosity, that would also run out.
He would have to find food and adjust finances again.
“We’ll have to get food from the Kron Empire and Asgard Island.”
“Isn’t it good, though?”
Aum looked at Per.
Per smiled and said.
“At least it’s better to worry about the future than to worry about war. Isn’t that what your brother wanted? A world where the Nords live without worrying about starvation.”
“…Ah….”
…I forgot.
Aum blinked. Even so, he looked at the Nords enjoying the festival.
Everyone is smiling.
In the past, they used to go south to plunder because there was no food, or they plundered each other among the tribes.
Aum, who was very saddened by this, devoted himself to building a country for the Nords for that reason.
But it was clear that now was much better than the dream he had hoped for.
The continent no longer saw them as plunderers or barbarians, but treated them with respect and courtesy.
There were no incidents of traveling Nords being attacked.
The ideal society he had dreamed of was unfolding.
“That’s right. Yes.”
Aum smiled.
“This is my dream.”
***
“Ooooo! This is fun!”
Emperor Karma wore a mask and wandered around the capital of Asgard, enjoying the festival.
The tamer’s guards, who secretly guarded him, blended into the surroundings and did not neglect their vigilance.
Hans followed him closely behind.
“Um… shouldn’t we go back to Valhalla Palace?”
“Haha! I’m sorry to you! But you know. I’m originally this kind of guy, so.”
Karma was the type who would hide his identity and frequent entertainment districts even when he was in the Kron Empire.
He was staying at Valhalla Palace without returning to his home country under the pretext of receiving the Worm Fest.
Thanks to that, Hans was having a hard time.
Besides, it wouldn’t matter if it was just him….
“Ooooo! Palm. What is that, what is that called?!”
The problem was that Ronia’s King Eron was also sticking with Karma and had become infected.
King Eron looked at the festival street with sparkling eyes.
Then, he reached out to the beer that a Nord handed him at the store, but Palm, who was assisting him, snatched the beer.
Eron glared at Palm with dissatisfaction.
“Palm!”
“…It’s still too early.”
Hans and Palm looked at each other and sighed.
“You’re having a hard time.”
“Yeah….”
Why are these rulers hiding their identities and wandering around the streets like children?
The two people who were thinking that way thought of one person.
“Ah….”
‘It’s because of Loki-nim [a respectful title]’.
They must have been envious of Loki’s free appearance and started to imitate him.
The two laughed in vain.
Eron and Karma gained absolute power and the title of wise ruler thanks to Loki.
And Palm and Hans escaped from their terrible slave days and are now serving their own lords and working.
Hans recalled Loki and looked around the festival.
He must be skipping work and enjoying the festival somewhere here.
“Ah! What’s that again?!”
“Ooo! That’s right!”
Karma and Eron quickly ran when they discovered a different sight, and Hans sighed and followed them.
It is his current mission to assist them, for his master.
He will do his best to carry out that mission.
***
“Ooooooooooo!”
“It’s big!”
“It’s huge!”
A vacant lot near the capital.
Numerous territorial residents were gathered in Urgart’s habitat.
“It’s kind of cool….”
“It’s also warm….”
“Should I say it’s cozy?”
There were three giants sitting there. Kanus was with them.
The citizens gathered around those giants cheered as they looked at them.
At the same time, they built an altar for them and placed all kinds of food on it.
Giants.
Trimm, Schurt, and Urgart.
They had something like bracelets tied to their arms.
「I can’t use my strength because of this.」
Trimm muttered, looking at the golden bracelet.
Originally, the surroundings should have frozen even if he stayed still.
But now, that power was sealed because of the bracelet on his wrist.
“That’s how you can live here, right?”
Kanus hammered next to him.
Trimm licked his lips and turned his gaze.
Schurt was talking to an old woman and enjoying himself.
「Hmph! To have humans as friends.」
Trimm snorted.
「But it’s not a bad feeling, is it?」
Trimm looked at Urgart.
Urgart reached out his hand, and children climbed onto his hand and played.
「Being loved by someone is a happy thing. Loki must have released us freely to let us know that.」
「…….」
Trimm turned his gaze to the humans.
Everyone was looking at Trimm in surprise. But there was no fear in their eyes.
Some were even praying reverently.
It was a look of facing a divine and dignified being.
It’s not a bad feeling. He is receiving the treatment that the gods should receive.
Still….
「Loki doesn’t know when he’ll go hunting for the next god.」
Trimm looked up at the sky.
The sunlight was shining down.
***
Jaus of the Holy Order looked at the festival.
He moved his seat and got into the carriage.
The Holy Knights escort the carriage.
A priest stood in front of the carriage door and bowed his head.
“Give the order. Your Holiness.”
「Find the remaining corrupted Constellations.」
His revenge was not over yet.
Until he kills all the remaining corrupted Constellations, his revenge will not be over.
***
Clatter… clatter….
“Aum must be having a hard time right now.”
Loki was sitting in the driver’s seat of the carriage.
He was driving the carriage, and Cancun was making an awkward expression next to him.
“…You skip out every time. Please focus more on your work.”
“I’m working right now?”
Loki wasn’t lying.
Currently, a small number of Constellations were hiding in the continent, and large and small disasters were constantly occurring due to the dead Constellations.
Loki and his companions were traveling around the continent to stabilize those disasters, but they could not quell them all because the continent was so vast.
But what was clear was that those disasters made humans grow stronger.
Furthermore, civilization developed.
Loki enjoyed freely watching such a changed world.
In the meantime, he would catch rampaging Constellations or restore places where disasters had struck to their original state.
Each time, he was revered as the god who ruled this world.
And Cancun was always by his side.
“…That’s right. Thanks to you, Constellation-nim, I often hear Aum’s nagging.”
Of course, Kudan was following Cancun.
It must be because of his nephew’s overprotection.
Kudan muttered inside the carriage.
“Well, it’s fun, though.”
Kudan shrugged. Even so, he looks inside the carriage.
It was noisy there.
Helga was sitting quietly, and Karen was scratching her stomach and shouting in her sleep.
“I’m hungry!”
“…When will this guy ever grow up….”
Torsen could only sigh as he looked at Karen.
Salad was holding the sapling of the World Tree in her arms.
The World Tree, which had returned to Asgard, had taken root.
And now, those saplings of the World Tree were to take root all over the world by Salad’s hands.
And there were the Demon King Kalib and Yura, proudly watching their daughter.
“Hehe! A continental trip. This is exciting!”
Shaman liked it.
He was bound to the northern lands because of his duty, but he started following Loki wherever he went.
Sharin was shrinking and cowering among such superhumans.
Loki also blinked as he looked at the carriage.
“Why are you all following me?”
“It’s because everyone likes Loki-nim.”
Cancun smiled and said.
She wasn’t lying.
That’s why so many people are gathering because they like him.
“But Loki-nim. Where are you thinking of going now?”
“……”
Small encounters create great relationships, and those relationships stick to Loki and become companions who are with him.
The corrupted Constellations were judged, but war was still raging on the continent and cults were rampant.
Loki smiled and said.
“Going to places I haven’t been. And going to places I have to go.”
In such a continent, Loki was thinking of traveling to places he had not been.
There, another beginning and end, a new relationship will begin.
Hello! This is Shadow Weaver!
[Player as a Constellation] has come to an end!
The first time I serialized this work was in 2015, and wow…! It’s already been 8 years.
Wow…! Time seems to be flowing so fast.
Come to think of it, 2024 is just around the corner.
It was also the first work that I serialized and completed, so it was a really meaningful work for me.
It was also something I started with the idea of going back to my roots and serializing an old work, and I think it was good to be able to look back on what I was thinking when I was serializing it and how I was writing.
It was an insufficient piece of writing, but thank you so much for reading it to the end! I will come back with better writing next year!
I hope that 2024, the year of Gapjin (甲辰年) [a year in the sexagenary cycle of the Chinese calendar], will be filled with good things and happiness for everyone!
Thank you~!!
