Stole the Demon God’s Vault – Episode 30
Episode 30
Raise Skeleton.
As the name suggests, it’s the most basic spell a necromancer uses to raise skeletons. Unlike other spells, it requires a ‘Dark Circle’ to function.
Fortunately, Seun had created his second mana circle in the joint training area some time ago, using the Black Tower’s training method.
Dark mana flowed from Seun’s hand, seeping into the carcass of the wild boar – now just bones.
Crack!
The scattered bones stirred, drawing closer to each other. Vertebrae interlocked, and legs reattached to the pelvic bone.
“Kyaa!”
“Wh-what is it!”
The people around Seun, busy carving meat, jumped back in surprise.
Moving bones.
It was something beyond common sense, like something out of a movie.
Some, thinking a monster was appearing, hurriedly drew their weapons.
Drddddd!
The bones, infused with black energy, reassembled completely.
The skull, separated in the corner, dragged itself along the floor and clicked into place.
“Rise.”
Creak!
“What the hell is that!”
“D-did you do that?”
The boar’s bones straightened, and it stood up.
It must have been a large boar, because even as a skeleton, it was quite imposing.
Flash!
Red light glowed from the eye sockets of the skull, filled with black darkness.
When Seun didn’t answer, the people’s wariness increased.
At that moment.
Thud.
“What the hell is going on…”
“Is that some kind of magic too?”
“Well, common sense doesn’t really apply here anyway…”
The boar – no, the being that had become a ‘Boar Skeleton’ – knelt before Seun, bowing its head.
A posture of complete submission.
Seun stroked its forehead, accepting its submission.
‘This guy should be enough.’
The most basic summon of a necromancer: a skeleton.
It’s weaker in strength and defense than a zombie, but since the boar was a strong monster, it should be strong enough to pull a cart, even as a skeleton.
Moreover, undead like skeletons have one great advantage:
Endurance.
As long as mana is supplied, the undead never tire. In a situation where the cart needs to be pulled all day, it’s a much better choice than a tamed monster.
‘But just in case…’
Seun raised his hand again.
The amount of luggage on the outskirts of the village was more than he thought, so it would be difficult to fit everything in one cart.
If so.
“Rise.”
Drdddd!
It’s enough to summon another skeleton.
As with the first summoning, the boar’s bones assembled according to Seun’s instructions and stood up.
Soon, two skeletons stood on either side of Seun, bowing their heads.
‘This is the limit.’
The number of skeletons a necromancer can summon per circle is about two. Seun, with two circles, could maintain a total of four skeletons.
However, the capacity limit varies depending on the target of the magic.
Seun could maintain up to four skeletons if they were ordinary human bones, but only two boars, which were more powerful beings.
“Hiek!”
Seun turned his head at the sound from nearby. The two skeletons naturally moved their heads to follow Seun’s gaze.
The man who had made the noise took a deep breath and stepped back.
‘Well, that’s a normal reaction.’
For a corpse to move, it was impossible for an ordinary person to accept it easily.
However, these skeletons would have to pull the carts that the twin sisters would make. Right next to people.
So, it was necessary to confirm that they were safe.
“It’s safe, so you don’t have to worry.”
“R-really?”
“You can come and touch them.”
“I-I’m okay…”
“Then, can I touch them?”
Yoo Seoa appeared, parting the crowd. She must have been preparing food with the others at the camp.
She walked confidently and stood in front of the skeleton bowing next to Seun.
‘She’s nervous.’
She was trying hard to hide it, but Seun could see it. Her hands were trembling slightly.
No matter how confident she pretended to be, she was just an ordinary person who had just entered the tower. So, it was natural for her to be afraid of skeletons.
But the reason she came forward with a confident attitude was probably because she understood Seun’s intentions.
“Eup!”
“Grrr-”
A small scream escaped Yoo Seoa, only audible to Seun.
As her hand touched it, the skeleton lightly rose from its spot.
Anyone else would have been surprised and pulled back, but she turned her head so that others couldn’t see her and gritted her teeth, enduring.
After a while.
“Grrr, grrr-”
The skeleton began to rub its head against Yoo Seoa’s hand as if expressing friendliness.
Yoo Seoa, noticing this, widened her eyes in amazement, and this time, she stroked the skeleton’s skull with both hands.
“Wow, it’s like a pet?”
“R-really?”
“Then, can I try it once…”
“Can I touch it too?”
“Amazing!”
The moment Yoo Seoa showed favor, people’s anxiety also disappeared.
When Seun nodded, those who felt curious approached and began to touch the skeleton.
Of course, the skeleton’s movements just now were directed by Seun. Skeletons wouldn’t move even a little without the owner’s instructions.
Thanks to Seun’s awareness and Yoo Seoa’s help, people’s anxiety about the skeleton disappeared completely.
And after a while, as if they had heard the rumors, two girls ran quickly towards them.
“Waaaaa! It’s real! The skeleton is standing up!”
“Oppa, are these the ones that will pull our cart?”
“They look strong! We can make the cart a little bigger, right?”
“I call dibs on this one!”
“Then I call dibs on this one!”
“Unnie, wanna compete? Whose cart moves faster?”
“Call! Just look, our cutie will be much faster!”
“For a creator to rely on the user instead of their own work! I’ll compete with my work!”
“Ah, no! Of course, I’ll compete with my work too!”
The sight of the twin sisters riding on the skeleton drew smiles on people’s faces.
* * *
Darkness fell on the camp.
Since the last wave ended just before sunset, the move was decided to be made the next day.
Perhaps because they were tired from preparing to move, everyone fell asleep earlier than usual.
‘Well made.’
Before going to bed, Seun spread the leather sleeping bag he had received from the people on the floor.
He used to fall asleep with the wolf cloak he carried on his back as a blanket, but it couldn’t compare to something made specifically as a sleeping bag.
A perfect fit and a soft touch. The fluffy fur blocked the cold night air.
-The constellation, ‘Hungry Prince’ [Beelzebub, Demon God of Gluttony], strokes his bulging belly and takes a deep breath, saying it was a satisfying meal.
As it was the last meal here, Seun took care to serve Beelzebub with care.
‘Red Claw, Yashak,’ whom he had defeated during the last wave. Including him, Seun used the power of gluttony by magically burning several Red Monkeys he had defeated.
Thanks to this, not only did his agility and intelligence greatly increase, but Beelzebub’s dissatisfaction was also completely gone.
He probably won’t whine about being hungry for a while.
‘The second act of the tutorial…’
Seun recalled his memories from before his regression [returning to the past].
The memory of barely escaping death and reluctantly embarking on a journey mixed among people who had lost hope.
Wouldn’t it have been better to die here?
That’s what he thought as he left the camp filled with people’s corpses.
‘The past is just the past.’
Seun shook his head briefly and re-examined his plans for the future.
Things to be careful of in the second act, hidden pieces to find there, etc. The tutorial opportunity was only once, so if he missed it this time, he wouldn’t be able to return.
It wasn’t until the shining crescent moon was directly overhead that he was able to finish organizing his thoughts.
Just as he was about to fall asleep.
-The constellation, ‘Crow Bowing its Head’ [Mammon, Demon God of Greed], lowers its beak and points at you.
‘Hmm?’
The message of Mammon, the Demon God of Greed, appeared.
Unlike Beelzebub, who appeared drooling whenever he had a chance, Mammon was usually quiet, so it was natural to be interested.
-The constellation, ‘Crow Bowing its Head,’ points to your sword and arouses greed.
‘So that’s what it was.’
The legendary sword, Durandal, discovered through a hidden piece at the Forgotten Hero’s Training Ground.
It was natural for the Demon God of Greed to be interested. Even when he pulled out the sword in the joint area, he showed great interest.
However.
‘Even if he’s a Demon God, he can’t interfere with players recklessly.’
He wouldn’t be able to take it as he pleased.
The constellations on the top floor of the tower basically couldn’t interfere with the players on the lower floors.
Even if they did interfere, they would have to distort causality and inflict great damage on their own status. Because of this, many constellations tried to have influence on the lower floors by having followers under them.
-The constellation, ‘Crow Bowing its Head,’ authoritatively commands you to offer the precious sword to him.
“Why would I?”
-The constellation, ‘Crow Bowing its Head,’ furrows its brow, putting strength into its claws.
Seun’s attitude was completely different from when he first faced Mammon.
Confidence.
He didn’t back down at all, even in front of Mammon, who was known to have a high status among the constellations.
Of course, there was a plausible reason for that.
-The constellation, ‘Crow Bowing its Head,’ warns that if you refuse his command, he will terminate your access to the treasure vault.
“Try terminating it?”
-The constellation, ‘Crow Bowing its Head,’s beak trembles.
At first, he didn’t know, but after using more than twenty treasures, Seun was able to figure it out.
The identity of the power he was using.
‘The Mammon’s treasure vault I’m using is separate from Mammon’s real treasure vault now.’
This was the conclusion Seun came to.
At first, he thought that Mammon was just allowing Seun to use the vault out of curiosity, but that wasn’t the case.
The reason Mammon didn’t block the vault was because he couldn’t block it in the first place.
The reason Seun realized this was because of the characteristics of the power he was currently using.
‘The reason why I couldn’t bring the substance and could only bring out the power.’
In other words, the vault that Seun was using was the vault that Mammon possessed before his regression. After regressing, it lost its substance, and only the inherent power remained and was absorbed by Seun as a power.
This was the reason why Seun could be confident against Mammon’s threats.
-The constellation, ‘Crow Bowing its Head,’ spreads its wings threateningly at your arrogant attitude.
Even so, it wasn’t good to be disliked by Mammon.
Already, many demon kings in Seun’s camp were interested in people and making contracts.
If Mammon issued a withdrawal order, even the 72 demon kings would have no choice but to succumb to the Demon God’s command.
So, Seun revealed the ingenious plan he had prepared in anticipation of the current situation after obtaining Durandal.
“It’s not that I won’t give it to you. However, Durandal is currently the most powerful weapon I can use.”
-The constellation, ‘Crow Bowing its Head,’ folds its spread wings and listens to your words.
“I know that the Demon God has the power to imitate the power of items.”
In fact, most of the treasures in Mammon’s treasure vault were ‘replicas’ made in that way.
If so.
“So, I will lend you my Durandal while the Demon God is imitating Durandal.”
-The constellation, ‘Crow Bowing its Head,’ nods, thinking that it’s a pity, but it wouldn’t be bad if he could add it to his collection.
“Instead.”
From here on out, it’s the real deal.
In exchange for lending Durandal, what Seun wanted.
Exactly.
“Please open the ‘real vault’ to me.”
The right to use the real treasure vault that the current Mammon possessed.
