“Those *cursed* bastards!” Chung Myung’s hands tightened on the window frame, his knuckles white as if he was about to jump out.
But just then, Baek Cheon and Yu Yiseol grabbed his arms from both sides.
Chung Myung turned his head sharply to Baek Cheon.
“What are you doing? Let me go!”
“No,” Baek Cheon said firmly.
Chung Myung looked very surprised.
“What do you mean, ‘no’?”
Baek Cheon frowned a little.
“Weren’t you about to run out there?”
“Do you think I’m stupid? Would I really do that?”
Chung Myung held onto the window frame again, then let go and stepped back.
He licked his lips, showing he still wanted to go, but he didn’t argue as strongly as usual.
Seeing this, Jo Gul whispered to Yoon Jong, “Why is he being so *good* for once?”
“I know, right? It’s really strange.”
Usually, Chung Myung would have just pushed Baek Cheon and Yu Yiseol away and jumped out the window right away.
Just then, Baek Cheon looked out the window, his brow furrowed.
“Yiseol, how many enemies are there?”
“At most, a hundred. I can see about fifty.”
“I see…” Baek Cheon thought, agreeing with her count.
There were more than a thousand Ice Palace fighters here. Even if you didn’t count the less skilled fighters and the injured ones, there were still easily over five hundred.
“Even if those Demonic Sect people are crazy,” he thought, “it’s impossible for fifty of them to beat five hundred of us.”
“Let’s just watch for now,” Baek Cheon said.
“Even if the Demonic Sect is crazy, they wouldn’t attack the Ice Palace with only fifty people.”
Hearing this, Chung Myung chuckled softly.
Baek Cheon frowned more.
“Why are you laughing?”
“Martial Uncle,” Chung Myung said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
“Do you know why I’m not running out there right now?”
“Is it because you don’t have your sword?”
Chung Myung paused.
“…” Startled, he quickly touched his waist.
*Oh, right. I almost went out without my sword.* But then he thought, *No, that’s not really why.* He could easily grab a sword from one of the Ice Palace fighters.
“Watch,” Chung Myung said, his eyes gleaming.
“Huh?” Baek Cheon asked, confused.
“Just watch how those bastards come out. It will be very different from what you think, Martial Uncle.”
“…” Baek Cheon’s face became serious.
“I was thinking that anyway. Instead of running out without thinking, it’s better to see what’s happening first.”
*Click*.
Chung Myung opened a small jade case he held and took out a white pill, the Snow Ice Pill.
Without even thinking, he tossed it into his mouth and swallowed.
“I need to focus my inner power now,” he said.
“Don’t anyone move outside this room until I get up. Really, don’t move.”
“…” Baek Cheon looked surprised.
“You’re going to focus your power now?”
“It won’t take long.” Chung Myung’s eyes grew serious.
“But you all need to watch carefully. You need to see why those people are from the Demonic Sect.” He finished speaking, walked to the middle of the room, and sat down with his legs crossed.
Before he closed his eyes, he looked at Seol So-baek.
“You should watch carefully too. You need to see who is really here in the Northern Sea right now. What you are really facing.”
With those last words, Chung Myung closed his eyes.
Watching Chung Myung start to meditate, the Mount Hua disciples stared in amazement.
Jo Gul and Yoon Jong whispered quietly to each other.
“He’s really focusing his power.”
“Is he brave, or just reckless?”
“Definitely the second one, right?”
“Be careful what you say, Gul,” another disciple warned.
“Have you forgotten what happened on the fortress wall last time?”
“…” Jo Gul shut up quickly.
Meanwhile, Baek Cheon watched Chung Myung silently.
*He must really trust us to meditate like this,* Baek Cheon thought.
*It also means he’s desperate enough to take a healing pill and try to recover right now.* Baek Cheon couldn’t feel Chung Myung’s pain, so he didn’t fully understand how serious it was.
*Even though it’s the Demonic Sect,* Baek Cheon thought, still confused, *how can they do anything to the Ice Palace with only fifty people? That’s what Chung Myung seems to think too.*
Just then, Tang Soso interrupted his thoughts.
“Martial Uncle.”
“Yes,” Baek Cheon replied, turning around, his face serious.
The disciples of Mount Hua and Hae Yeon all rushed to the window, pushing each other slightly to get a better view.
They could clearly see the black figures standing on the fortress wall in the distance.
“Let’s see,” Baek Cheon murmured, his voice low.
“Just how strong are these Demonic Sect bastards.” All their faces, focused on the fortress wall, became tight with fear and anticipation.
❀ ❀ ❀ The Law Enforcement Officer, his eyes like ice, looked down at the Ice Palace fighters gathering below the fortress wall.
“Like an ant colony,” he sneered.
Like ants whose nest had been kicked, the Ice Palace fighters poured out in a never-ending stream from below.
Even though it was a large number, the Law Enforcement Officer’s face remained cold and emotionless.
*Where are those Central Plains bastards?* he thought.
He couldn’t see anyone wearing different clothes.
“If we want to find the Ice Jade,” he said to his men, “if you see any Central Plains bastards, don’t kill them. Capture them alive.”
“Should we try not to hurt them?” one warrior asked.
“Just keep them alive,” the Law Enforcement Officer repeated firmly.
“Yes!” The Law Enforcement Officer raised his hand and spoke in a deep, solemn voice.
“Show everyone who has forgotten how terrifying the Demonic Sect is! Show them how fake their peace has been!”
“Understood!” came the chilling reply.
The Demonic Sect warriors on top of the fortress wall jumped down all at once.
A slow smile twisted the Law Enforcement Officer’s lips.
Yeo Sa-hon hurried out of the fortress quickly, and then stopped, stunned.
He saw many figures jumping down from the fortress wall all at once.
*Demonic Sect!* He knew them instantly.
Of course he did.
He had met Demonic Sect warriors before when he worked in the mines.
They wore the same black clothes as these people.
*The number is fifty? No, a little more?* *With only that many?* His face flushed red with anger.
If they had stayed on the fortress wall and tried to talk, he might have been willing to listen.
But for so few people to jump down like this was a clear insult and showed they didn’t care about the Ice Palace at all.
Yeo Sa-hon yelled angrily to the Ice Palace warriors around him.
Yeo Sa-hon’s voice boomed across the Ice Palace courtyard. “Listen!”
“Yes!” the warriors roared back.
“Negotiation is unnecessary! Those who trespass into the Ice Palace without permission must pay the price! Capture them all! Kill any who resist!”
“Yes!”
The Ice Palace warriors shouted back bravely.
Strategy and tactics? They didn’t matter.
When you have ten times more people, strategy doesn’t matter. All you need to do is crush the enemy with your numbers and power.
Also, the enemy jumped right over the fortress walls. Every Ice Palace warrior could see that there weren’t many of them.
‘I don’t know who’s leading them, but they’re very foolish,’ Yeo Sa-hon thought. He felt that everyone was too scared of the Demonic Sect’s name.
In the past, when the Palace Lord was killed, the palace was caught by surprise and easily taken. But if they had used all the Ice Palace’s power like they were doing now, the result would have been different.
Yeo Sa-hon remembered the past attack. Anger filled him. He shouted,
“Today, we will get revenge for the former Palace Lord! Make those traitors kneel!”
His voice echoed loudly. The Ice Palace warriors, dressed in white, charged forward with new courage.
So many people rushing forward looked like an avalanche falling down a snowy mountain.
Yeo Sa-hon was sure that the Ice Palace warriors would destroy the Demonic Sect followers with this attack.
The Ice Palace warriors at the front roared with excitement. They had so much bloodlust. It felt amazing to have hundreds of people running behind them.
The Ice Palace warriors swung their swords with all their power at the Demonic Sect followers who had landed. They were confident in their swords.
“Die, you evil fiends!”
“You treacherous bastards!”
A dozen swords flew toward one person at the same time.
Then, the person at the front saw something.
The Demonic Sect follower hadn’t moved, even with the swords coming at him. Suddenly, he smiled cruelly.
Shwaaaaaak!
The sound was like tearing silk with a sharp knife.
“⋯⋯.”
The body of the warrior who had charged forward froze.
‘What is this⋯⋯?’
A cold feeling gripped his stomach, turning into terrible sickness. Soon, a hellish pain spread through his whole body, a pain he couldn’t even describe.
“Kuh⋯⋯.”
He couldn’t even scream. Before he could, five red lines appeared on his body.
Paaaaah!
Neck, chest, stomach, thigh, ankle.
The cut body parts flew backward like wooden blocks kicked by a child.
Blood gushed from the spinning body parts, painting the black sky of the North Sea red.
A chilling silence fell.
The strong advance stopped.
The warriors who had been rushing forward froze as if they had practiced it. They were shocked by what they had just seen.
They knew martial arts. They knew they could die in battle.
But what they had just seen would shock anyone, martial artist or not.
There had to be a limit to cruelty and violence.
If you thought of your enemy as a human, you couldn’t kill them in such a horrible way.
Thud! Plop!
The pieces of the body fell to the ground.
The hand, cut off at the wrist, trembled. The head, with wide eyes, was buried upside down in the snow.
“⋯⋯.”
The silence was so deep that even breathing seemed loud in the Ice Palace.
Then, the sound of bones cracking came from the Demonic Sect follower’s hand.
Crack.
The Demonic Sect follower’s hand, hanging under his black clothes, began to turn black.
Swoosh.
Black energy came from the sharp edge of the sword. Claws like those of a demon grew more than a foot long from his fingers.
“Kill them all.”
The Demonic Sect followers rushed at the Ice Palace warriors like wolves attacking sheep.
Their eyes burned red with madness and murderous intent. They screamed scary chants like songs.
“Heavenly Demon Reincarnation, Myriad Demons Obey! Heavenly Demon Reincarnation! Myriad Demons Obey!”
Kwaaaang!
It wasn’t a fight, it was a massacre.
Claws like those of evil spirits tore flesh in a horrible way.
Kaaaang!
They couldn’t be stopped.
If the Ice Palace warriors raised their swords to block, their bodies were cut in half along with the swords. Even palm strikes full of energy were torn apart.
It was a simple, brutal attack.
There were no fancy moves to find weaknesses. There were no skills to play with the enemy.
They just swung, destroyed, and shattered.
But no one could block that simple attack.
Kwaaaah!
The Ice Palace warriors were terrified by the sight of the Demonic Sect followers destroying bodies with black demonic energy and cutting off necks.
The bodies were crushed and twitching. Blood poured from the destroyed bodies, and heads flew into the air.
But the Demonic Sect followers didn’t stop there.
They plunged their claws into the bodies again, into what should have been corpses.
Shwaaaak!
The Demonic Sect followers tore the bodies apart and moved on.
Their eyes glowed red with madness and murderous intent.
Their mouths were open in crazy laughter, as if they were enjoying themselves.
The Demonic Sect followers were covered in the blood of the Ice Palace warriors and turned dark red. They crushed everything in their path. The Ice Palace warriors who couldn’t escape were torn to pieces as if they had been thrown into a giant saw blade.
It all happened so fast.
In that short time, everything changed.
“Huu⋯⋯.”
The Ice Palace warriors opened their mouths in shock.
Their knees shook, and their bodies trembled.
And.
“Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaak!”
They couldn’t think clearly anymore.
They were terrified. The Ice Palace warriors screamed and ran, something they had never done before.
“Aaaargh!”
“Aaaack! Aaaack!”
It was more like a screech than a scream. It was a howl of fear.
The Demonic Sect followers chased them relentlessly.
Soon, the claws of the demons were destroying the pure white Ice Palace.
