Having arrived at JFK Airport, we took a taxi and drove along Wall Street, taking in the skyscrapers that lined the road.
“It’s always so dazzling, New York.”
“That’s the charm of this place. But…”
Sun Hae-chul, who was smiling at me, hesitated for a moment, carefully asking.
“What are you going to do about Korea Mobile Telecom?”
“You know the government still has a 20 percent stake, right?”
“I know. Are you going to sell when that comes out?”
“Yes.”
Even if Saekyung Group acquires the government’s 23 percent stake, it cannot be considered privatized until Korea Telecom sells its shares, excluding the 20 percent.
Privatization will only truly occur when the remaining government shares are released to the market starting in June, and as it gets certified as a cash cow, the secondary acceleration of Korea Mobile Telecom’s stock price will begin.
After the two questions and answers, an exclamation came from Sun Hae-chul’s mouth.
“Wow, you thought that far ahead?”
“Of course. I’m going to dump everything then and send 50 million dollars here, hehe.”
I smiled lightly, but I had no intention of indulging in luxury with that money. To gloriously decorate the end of my revenge, I need to seize wealth, fame, and power.
“It looks like this will be a long story, let’s get in a car first.”
At Park Tae-jin’s suggestion, we waved our hands at the taxi at the front.
After loading our carriers into the trunk and getting into the car, we were already out of the airport and heading into New York City.
‘It’s amazing no matter when I come.’
New York, the capital of world economy and finance.
I couldn’t help but feel proud that I had planted my flag here, a place I used to only come to for business trips.
From now on, the path I take will become the standard.
With just one word from me, New York will shake, and the world will be turned upside down.
I breathed on the window and wrote ‘Standard Capital’ on it with my fingertip, then wiped it away with my palm.
‘Standard Capital,’ which will become my own Hispania [a region in present-day Spain and Portugal, historically known for its wealth and power during the Roman Empire].
Centered around New York, where my flag is raised, I will plant pipes all over the world and suck up money.
That way, Standard Capital will become the Hispania that supports my victory.

Not long after, the taxi stopped, and we got out and went inside the building.
“How’s everyone been?”
“Good, Sun.”
“Sun, are we just getting started now?”
“Who’s our boss? Pretty Boy? Or… Sharp Guy?”
When we arrived at the office, about six people greeted Sun Hae-chul and us.
“Pretty Boy is our boss, Clare.”
“Oh, God! Who is it that has so much money?”
Clare made a fuss, and the other members also showed surprised reactions.
“I told you before. Our moneybags. All our cash is this guy’s.”
“Wow!”
“Jesus!”
Their surprised expressions were quite amusing.
“I’m Clare Lawrence. Welcome to Wall Street, boy.”
Clare Lawrence… Judging by how close she is to Sun Hae-chul, she seemed to be a very trusted woman. I don’t know what that trust is, but it didn’t seem bad.
“Hi, Clare. I’m Seong-Min Lee, but I’ll use John Davison Lee as my English name. Just call me Johnny.”
As I introduced myself with a natural American accent, Clare’s lips twitched.
“John Davison… Lee?”
“Yeah, my English name.”
I shrugged my arms lightly and smiled, and everyone chuckled.
“So that’s why you named the company that way?”
“My family believes in Catholicism. I mixed my baptismal name and my father’s baptismal name to make it, but it overlapped with that person’s name, haha.”
My name to use outside of Korea from now on is ‘John Davison Lee’.
It was based on my baptismal name ‘John’ and my father’s baptismal name ‘David’, but after making it, it overlapped with the name of oil tycoon John Davison Rockefeller.
It’s like covering your eyes and saying ‘ah’ [a Korean idiom meaning to try and hide something obvious], but thanks to the familiar nickname ‘Johnny’, I can hide my appearance as a ferocious beast, so there couldn’t be a better name than this.
“So that’s why you named it that way?”
“Good things are good, Uncle. John Davison Lee and Standard Capital, what a great two-shot, right?”
I shrugged at Sun Hae-chul, and everyone chuckled.
“Isn’t the weight of the sign too heavy, Johnny?”
“It’s going to be hard to catch up with that guy, right?”
Everyone is laughing like this now, but in just about two turns, they will feel empowered just by having this name on their backs.
Standard Capital, what a great and beautiful name. It will become the standard of the global financial world, repeating its undefeated streak.
After laughing for a while, Clare held out her hand.
“Can I call you Johnny comfortably?”
“Of course, Clare.”
We shook hands and exchanged smiles.
“Okay, this is Park Tae-jin. He’s my close brother and Johnny’s protector. He’s also a shareholder in our company.”
Park Tae-jin also bowed his head lightly and formally introduced himself.
“I’m Park Tae-jin. Nice to meet you.”
“By any chance… did you serve in the military? I was also an ROTC officer, but Mr. Park is the first person I’ve seen who looks so sharp.”
At the question from the burly Hispanic man, Park Tae-jin wore a faint smile.
“Thank you for the compliment. It was a long time ago, but I was discharged as a first lieutenant from the Republic of Korea Army Special Warfare Command.”
As Park Tae-jin introduced himself with fluent English, people’s eyes widened.
“Special Warfare Command?”
“I knew he had a good fit!”
After another round of fuss and introductions, we went into the conference room and sat down at the table.
“…So Johnny is a fourth-generation chaebol [a large South Korean business conglomerate, typically family-owned]?”
“Like Ford, Hilton, or Wallenberg?”
I knew the names of world-renowned tycoons just by hearing them, but I didn’t feel anything special. I have to be careful considering the butterfly effect, but aren’t I the one who will eventually stand above them?
“Yes. But as Sun said, I provided the money we’re going to use. Right?”
Sun Hae-chul, who was facing me with a grin, smiled and turned to the others.
“Of course. How much is it just in stocks and real estate? Hehe.”
“Since you can’t sell the group’s stock, it’s about 150 million dollars, right? Haha.”
Even though I told the truth, I was embarrassed to brag about it myself, so I stroked the back of my head and laughed, and exclamations burst from their mouths.
“Holy fuck! …ah, sorry.”
Seeing them surprised again, it seemed like I had proven my ability to some extent… It was a very good time to talk about investment.
“Everyone has seen the proposal I sent, right?”
If I had been stuck on stocks for the past six months, they would have seen me as a pushover.
While being trained by Park Tae-jin and studying at school, I was always holed up at home on weekends to create investment items, but looking at everyone’s expressions, it seemed worthwhile.
“I saw it. It was good.”
“It’s unique because it’s focused on IT, semiconductors, equipment, materials, and media… but it’s not bad because there are also stocks like Nike, Costco, Walmart, Wells Fargo, Citibank, and AIG.”
‘Of course. There’s no way you wouldn’t like it.’
Among them, a Hispanic man with neatly combed-back hair with pomade adjusted his glasses and looked at me.
“Johnny’s funds that have come in now are 35 million dollars, and Clare and we have invested 10 million dollars. If we buy it slowly, the profit will be good. What should we do?”
I put down the cup I was drinking coffee from and shook my finger left and right towards him and the other members.
“I’m sorry, but I’m not going to invest my funds right now.”
