Count Fabius walked in, acting like he owned the place.
Even though no one had invited or welcomed him, he pulled out a chair from an empty spot and sat down as if he were at home.
Everyone watched what he did.
Count Fabius leaned back, proudly lifted his head, and said bluntly, “Why is everyone staring at me like that?”
Count Snodin spoke up, “Count Fabius, this is a meeting to discuss Valhalla’s future. We didn’t invite you, and you know what happens when you enter an enemy country during wartime.”
Even though Count Snodin spoke in a threatening way, Count Fabius just tapped his foot and stayed calm.
“Yes, yes. Do you think I don’t know such obvious things? I’m here because I was invited. Baron Ayrn and 29 other families from Valhalla want to seriously discuss this with Dimitri. Isn’t that right, Baron Ayrn?”
“That’s correct,” Baron Ayrn confirmed.
Count Fabius continued, “See? Honestly, it’s a bit strange to be looked at like this when you don’t even know the whole story.”
A few days earlier, things had changed in Valhalla.
They were very shocked to learn who Emperor Alexandr really was. Nobles who were unsure about Valhalla’s friendship with Cronos started to meet together.
Baron Ayrn was the leader of this group.
After forming an alliance of 29 families, he contacted Dimitri directly and arranged for Count Fabius to visit as a surprise.
The nobles of Valhalla, with their warrior blood, couldn’t stand what was happening, no matter how much time had passed.
Count Snodin showed that he was not comfortable with the situation.
It was a clear attempt to make him angry, but he couldn’t refuse to talk openly in this situation.
“Alright. So, what’s your point?” Count Snodin asked.
“I wanted to be friendly and chat, but you’re impatient. Fine. I’ll get straight to the point. As you know, we learned who ‘Emperor Alexandr’ really is during this war. The ghost from the past, who should have died long ago, was alive and doing bad things through the Cronos Empire. And, my lord found out in the southern tomb that the former Emperor Stern Valhalla and Duke Vieto were deeply involved with Cronos…”
Count Snodin interrupted him, “That’s not true. There’s no such thing in the southern tomb, and we’re not connected to Cronos.”
Count Fabius chuckled.
It was just as he expected.
The people of Valhalla were proud of their empire, so they would be very upset if they found out they were Cronos’s helpers.
Of course, people like Count Snodin, who were leading the alliance with Cronos, would probably be captured and burned.
That’s why he stopped the conversation. Count Fabius continued, acting like he found it all very funny, “I understand. Even I find it hard to believe that a great nation like Valhalla has such an ugly secret. Actually, the solution is simple. Why didn’t you share the information from the southern tomb? If you had shared that information, which cannot be destroyed or changed, you could have removed all doubts. Also, when my lord killed the Valhalla Emperor, I understand why you were angry, but why didn’t Valhalla try to find out the truth?”
“We don’t need to explain such nonsense,” Count Snodin retorted.
“That’s why this is happening,” Count Fabius replied. “Historically, Valhalla and Cronos have been very suspicious. People call them the two great powers of the continent, saying they stop each other from reaching their goals, but if you look closely at history, it’s different. My lord was attacked by Cronos on his way back from the Valhalla Festival, and Cronos raised troops as if they had been waiting when Valhalla declared war on Dimitri. The two empires have been willing to work together when they needed to.”
“But…” Count Snodin started.
“Listen, Count Snodin,” Count Fabius continued. “You know that I’m not just talking about recent events. This has happened many times. And now that we know who Emperor Alexandr really is…”
The atmosphere in the room changed a lot.
Count Fabius looked closely at Count Snodin, as if trying to see into his soul. “How are we supposed to see Valhalla helping Cronos?” he asked sharply.
It was a confusing situation.
Count Snodin realized it was a trap.
If he said the wrong thing, he would be seen as a traitor, but executing Count Fabius was also difficult.
The 29 families led by Baron Ayrn were stopping Valhalla from using its full power.
They could be wiped out, but attacking a group supported by the public would cause problems.
Also, Kevin’s presence worried him.
Kevin stood behind Count Fabius, calmly looking around and assessing the situation as the atmosphere became tense.
It was as if he was figuring out how many enemies he had to deal with.
Even after entering Valhalla, Fabius and Kevin acted like they weren’t afraid at all.
Their behavior wasn’t just for show.
Count Snodin was feeling the pressure from the things Fabius had done and the rumor that Kevin had recently defeated Ares.
He held back his anger.
Now was the time to retreat.
“All of that is just guessing,” Count Snodin said. “If there were misunderstandings, it was just a coincidence. And we can’t share the data from the southern tomb carelessly. It’s not that we don’t want to explain, but we can’t. We’re frustrated that you’re asking about the reasons for the war. The Emperor of Valhalla is dead. Whatever the truth, it’s natural for us to want revenge, right?”
It was a reasonable excuse.
Count Fabius smirked. It was just as he expected.
From the moment Count Snodin took a step back, Count Fabius took control of the conversation.
“I understand. My lord was a bit too quick to act. He should have tried to persuade the Valhalla Emperor before killing him, but he killed him as soon as he found out the truth. Let’s forget about clearing up misunderstandings for now, and solve the immediate problem first,” Count Fabius suggested.
He spoke in a subtle way.
By saying ‘a bit too quick to act,’ he made it sound like killing the Valhalla Emperor wasn’t a big deal.
“I will trust Valhalla. I will trust Count Snodin. I believe that Alexandr wasn’t involved in Valhalla’s history, and the problem started when Duke Vieto secretly worked with Cronos on his own. Valhalla had to start a war because they didn’t know the truth. So, please step back and watch quietly. Now that we know the Cronos Empire is evil, we should deal with them first, right? I won’t ask you to help with the war. Just step back so we don’t misunderstand Valhalla until we clear up our misunderstandings.”
He smiled.
Fabius was being strong with Snodin because he thought Valhalla was now weak, but he would be weak if Valhalla was strong. He felt a sense of pleasure at the sight of the frightened weakling.
“If you show any signs of siding with Cronos, we’ll have to think that Valhalla is connected to Cronos and Emperor Alexandr,” Count Fabius warned.
The conversation ended.
Count Snodin nodded with a sad expression.
His logic had been completely defeated, and he had to accept Fabius’s suggestion to get through the immediate crisis.
He went outside.
Kevin followed behind, asking Count Fabius a question.
Kevin asked, “I’m confused. We know Count Snodin is helping Chronos. We even have proof. Why aren’t we arresting him?” He looked at Count Fabius, waiting for an answer. They were on their way to Valhalla.
Kevin had expected trouble in Valhalla. He tightened his grip on his sword hilt, ready for a fight. But when they arrived, everything was calm. Too calm, he thought.
Fabius spoke first, taking charge of the meeting. Count Snodin just nodded, looking like he agreed with everything. He didn’t dare to be openly angry.
Fabius began to explain, “Kevin, we need to focus on what’s most important. Right now, that’s the war with Chronos. Valhalla is less important for now. We can deal with them later, after we win against Chronos. We’ve made sure Valhalla can’t cause trouble. Think of it like tying their feet so they can’t run. Because of what happened today, Valhalla can’t act without thinking carefully. My visit to Baron Ayrn is to create someone who can challenge Count Snodin. Now, if Valhalla wants to keep fighting, they will have problems from outside *and* inside their own country.”
Valhalla was now split. It was like a city where the leader has disappeared. Without someone in charge, everyone pulls in different directions, and nothing gets done.
Fabius continued, “Even if Baron Ayrn turns against Dimitri, or if Count Snodin starts a fight and takes over Valhalla, it’s still okay for us. They will fight each other to become the new leader of Valhalla. While they are busy fighting each other, we will make the people of Valhalla angry. Then, Valhalla’s leaders will have to fight their own people, not just us.”
Baron Ayrn acted because of Hao Mun. Hao Mun’s people spread rumors that made the people of Valhalla angry. Baron Ayrn used this anger to become stronger and create his own army.
Everything was planned by Roman Dimitri. As soon as he learned that Alexandre was a weapon, Dimitri started to weaken Valhalla from within.
Hao Mun and Count Fabius did exactly what Roman Dimitri wanted.
Planning it was one thing, but making it actually work was impressive.
Kevin was surprised. “That’s… amazing,” he murmured, impressed despite himself. He had to admit, even though he didn’t like Count Fabius…
Kevin was completely loyal to Roman Dimitri. Because of this, he didn’t trust Count Fabius. Fabius seemed like someone who could change sides easily, like a bat that flies in the dark. He had been loyal to Marquis Benedict before, and now he was loyal to Dimitri.
Kevin thought it was already bad enough to betray someone once. He worried that Fabius could betray Dimitri just as easily. So, Kevin was not happy that Fabius was given important jobs.
Kevin thought, “Dimitri will rule a great empire one day. To govern such a vast land, he will need people like Count Fabius.” Kevin had to admit it, even if he didn’t like it. Count Fabius was useful to Dimitri.
Suddenly, everything changed. The next morning…
Valhalla announced, “It’s clear that Alexandre was evil. We don’t support the Chronos Empire anymore. We will stop fighting for now and wait to see the truth. If we find out that the leaders of Chronos knew about Alexandre and supported him, then Valhalla will consider Chronos as our enemy.”
It was exactly the right thing to say. The announcement calmed the angry people in Valhalla. Because of this, the Hector Kingdom was no longer in danger.
But there was more good news. Right then, Frank and Redford began to stop the rioters for good.
When Alexandre was alive, the rioters had a strange, strong power. But now that Alexandre was gone, they lost that power and became weak. So, it was easy to stop the riots.
The Kingdom Alliance had been in trouble because of Chronos, Valhalla, and the riots. But now, two of these problems were gone.
Now, the Kingdom Alliance could concentrate on fighting Chronos. Roman Dimitri’s army advanced powerfully, and nothing could stop them.
Hermann walked bravely towards the enemy soldiers, close enough for their arrows to reach him. He was risking his life to speak to them. “I am Hermann, a soldier from Chronos,” he shouted. “This war is over! Valhalla has left Chronos. The whole Kingdom Alliance is coming to defeat Chronos. Why are you still fighting? Some people might call me a traitor for standing here for Dimitri. But I don’t think I am. The leaders of Chronos lied to us! They hid Alexandre and tricked innocent people. We did nothing wrong, but now we are called enemies and could die! This is not just about our country anymore. Chronos is wrong! If you really care about Chronos, you must fix it. Only Roman Dimitri can do that. Dimitri believes in fairness and law, not just simple right and wrong. That’s why I am here.”
Hermann spoke perfectly. He showed them the truth – that Chronos was going to lose. And he helped them feel less guilty about giving up, like it was the right thing to do.
Hermann’s words, “We are doing the right thing. We are not traitors!” were powerful. And people knew that Dimitri was fair. He welcomed even his enemies and rewarded them if they were good at their jobs. This made Hermann’s speech even more convincing.
Hermann’s speech was a great success. Shocked by the news about Alexandre, many people opened the gates right away. Those few Chronos soldiers who refused to surrender were all killed.
The choice was clear: fight or give up. Chronos had lost its pride. It began to collapse, with one city surrendering after another, like dominoes falling.
Two weeks passed quickly. Then, when Dimitri’s army took a fortress, the commander surrendered. He asked to speak to Dimitri. “Marquis Memphis wishes to talk,” he said.
Marquis Memphis Offers Surrender
Marquis Memphis’s face filled the screen. He had spent days thinking, and now he had made his decision: surrender was the only way to survive.
Memphis said, “[Let’s not waste time.] I’ve been working hard for the past two weeks to get ready to talk to you. Now, I’m ready. [I have captured the Emperor and his family in secret. I will hand over the Chronos Emperor to you. If you kill him, can we stop fighting? You can tell everyone that Dimitri won.]”
