Y13-175. 2011 Off-Season
Life in prison isn’t luxurious, nor as satisfying as life before. But little by little, as we join forces with the survivors of Woodbury and live together, hope begins to appear, bit by bit.
“Rick, we need to dig deeper.”
“Thanks, Bran.”
The mad Governor of Woodbury is gone. But it was clear that he was constantly aiming for this prison. We had to let Andrea go, but a life without sacrifice was a luxury in this world.
“You’re good at farming, Bran.”
“My parents were farmers in Korea.”
I took a step back from killing walkers and killing people. As my son Carl told me, I took a step back from everything. I wasn’t the leader of this group; I was just doing my part in the prison as a farmer.
Bran, who is tall and lanky, helps Carl and me with all his heart. Bran, who was in charge of farming in Woodbury, is helping us steadily with a youthful but quite manly face. He coughed from time to time, but he said it was just a light cold and steadily helped with the work, which made me feel reassured.
“I heard you’re from the same hometown as Glenn, do you get along well?”
As I talked to Bran about this and that, this field was slowly but surely bearing fruit thanks to Bran’s efforts.
“I’m learning how to fight step by step. Glenn-hyung [hyung is a Korean term used by males to address older male friends or brothers] is treating me well, so it’s helping me adapt.”
Bran’s smile still seemed to show the future of young people who shouldn’t give up on life.
“Cut! Great!”
Andrew Lincoln, who played Rick with passion, shook hands with the young Asian man who played Bran quite well.
“It was a short scene, but it was a good performance. I heard you’ve never acted before because you’re a basketball player.”
“Thank you. I think I was able to immerse myself well because you looked at me favorably.”
The clear features on his cleanly stretched, tall height couldn’t be hidden even if he was covered in charcoal, but the handsome young man nodded shyly as if he was embarrassed.
“Okay, let’s go quickly. We might get caught if we stay here.”
Lincoln, who was glancing at the cast members waiting for filming separately over there, smiled playfully at the young man and hurriedly entered the prison set with him.
“Okay, let’s shoot. Cut!”
“…”
In the dark dawn, Bran, who had fallen into a deep sleep, woke up feeling strange.
“Keuk!!”
He coughed from time to time, but suddenly his throat and chest ached as if he was suffocating, so Bran had no choice but to struggle.
“Heo, heo…”
Bran barely held back his heavy breathing and staggered to the shower room. He kept muttering that it was just a bad cold, and that he would be fine if he poured cold water on his chest, which felt like it was going to explode.
Shuaaaa-
“Keok, keok… Keuek!!”
But Bran, who took off his top and poured cold water all over his body, vomited blood and collapsed on the floor.
…
“Keueo… Eoeok…”
Bran’s eyes, which had stopped breathing, opened again.
“Aaaaaaack!!!”
I was supposed to have a refreshing morning, but the quiet morning was shattered by someone’s scream.
“What’s going on?!”
Rick, Glenn, Dale, Maggie, and Beth, who ran in surprise at the scream. The five of them didn’t know where this scream came from or why it happened.
“Wo, a walker has invaded! It’s a walker!!”
At the cry of the person who ran in, the five people grabbed the weapons they were holding in their hands once more and ran to the place where the scream came from.
Smack smack…
A familiar back in a solid upper body. Rick couldn’t help but feel frustrated at the sight. But the four people who didn’t farm couldn’t tell at once who was eating the intestines of the person who had turned into a walker and died.
“Bran… what happened…”
At Rick’s words, who was chanting Bran’s name, the four people realized that the person who had turned into a walker was Bran. Bran, who was tearing apart his intestines, instinctively turned his head at Rick’s voice.
Tuck-
“… Yoon?!”
“Cut!! Emily, why are you calling Bran Yoon!”
Emily looked dumbfounded as she looked at Youngjae, who suddenly appeared. But Bran, or rather Youngjae, didn’t wear a top, and didn’t wipe the blood smeared on his nose and mouth. He stared at Emily with his eyes turned white and staggered to his feet.
“Yoon? Why, why are you doing this? It’s scary…”
“Kaaaaaack!!!”
Emily was startled and screamed as she watched Youngjae rush at her, making a strange noise, and as soon as Youngjae grabbed Emily, he gently hugged her and whispered in her ear.
“Do I still… look like Yoon to you…”
“Hiiiik?! Y, Yoon! Stop it, it’s scary!!!”
Youngjae then burst out laughing as he watched Emily, who was startled like a girl. Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, and the staff around them knew about Youngjae’s surprise appearance, so they were able to laugh cheerfully at the sight.
“How did you get here? Aren’t you supposed to be training in LA?”
Youngjae, who was wearing zombie makeup, looked terrifying, but Emily was embarrassed by the strange excitement she felt as she smiled and talked.
“I told you at the airport before. That I’d surprise you. So I came. Originally, I was just going to stop by to cheer you on, but the director and Lincoln here asked me if I would like to participate in the filming as a short cameo, and it was of course kept top secret from Emily.”
“Eek!!”
Emily wanted to grab her side and burrow into Youngjae’s arms, but she tried to suppress her emotions, thinking that it was a filming location. But Emily felt more happy than betrayed, perhaps because Youngjae’s surprise appearance was refreshing and exciting.
“Okay, let’s go back to filming. You two, I’ll give you time to catch up later, so let’s finish quickly?”
Emily and Youngjae blushed at the director’s sly voice, and Youngjae’s first screen debut and Bran’s tragic death were fortunately filmed without incident.
“Kyaaaaack!!!”
Beth gritted her teeth as she watched Bran rush at her and forcefully stuck an iron bar into his head.
“Wow, you stabbed it in so hard! Emily, do you like me that much?”
“Yeah! I like you that much?”
The first filming of Season 3 came to an end for a while, and the cast members also had a short break. It wasn’t that Youngjae came and forced the break, but Youngjae first asked the production team when the first filming would end and came during that period, so Youngjae was able to surprise Emily just before the end of the first filming.
Youngjae was impressed as he watched the realistically filmed video, and Emily smiled contentedly as she watched Youngjae, who gave a pretty good performance. Filming for The Walking Dead went on hiatus for a week, and Emily and Youngjae decided to attend the ESPY Awards (sports awards hosted by ESPN) in LA on the 17th together.
“The awards are tomorrow! I’m going to play and eat as much as I want today!”
Emily spoke in a brighter voice than usual, thinking that she was relieving the desires she had been suppressing while filming, and Youngjae felt refreshed as he watched Emily. Youngjae wrapped his arms around Emily’s waist as he watched Emily, who was usually cute and pretty, become so cute that he couldn’t control himself in that state. Emily blushed as if she was embarrassed to see Youngjae becoming more and more daring even outside. She was the one who first suggested that they enjoy a day of dating in LA, where the 2011 ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) Awards would be held, without worrying about anything, but it was still unfamiliar to Emily to have her waist wrapped around her right hand and walk around outside.
“Do you hate it?”
“No… I like it. It’s just a little awkward.”
Emily blushed, but she still didn’t lower her head slightly like before. Rather, she looked at Youngjae and had various conversations, trembling, and became confident in the eyes of the people around her as she walked down the street.
The two of them lightly took out a cup of coffee each and walked aimlessly down the street, then got into the car to go to the place they were supposed to arrive before lunchtime and started driving leisurely.
“The Getty Center! I’m finally going~”
Emily sipped her cafe latte with a blissful expression, and Youngjae skillfully drove the car and tried to lift the cup to drink his Americano with a straw when he was stopped at a traffic light.
“Here, drink. It’s dangerous while driving.”
Emily held the cup instead and put a straw in it and handed it to Youngjae, and Youngjae sucked on the Americano and nodded.
“I don’t know much about art, but I’ve only heard that the Getty Center is famous, is it that great?”
Emily was excited like a child as if it was natural and began to explain to Youngjae in a cute voice.
“Of course~ The Getty Center is a place where all the works of art collected by J. Paul Getty, who was a huge oil tycoon, are exhibited during his lifetime. It’s really amazing. It was built on the top of Santa Monica Mountain, and it’s a large-scale exhibition hall built in that beautiful place where the entire view of LA spreads out below. Ah~ I want to go quickly.”
Buuuuung-
“I’ll still drive safely. Can you handle that much excitement?”
“Ugh… I’m not a kid! Of course I can handle it!”
Emily glared slightly at Youngjae, who sometimes treated her like a child, but Youngjae just smiled without any reaction each time.
“I… I’ve felt that Yoon is strange since I met him.”
“Huh? What?”
“Yoon is six years younger than me, but from the way he talks, the way he acts, and the things he’s experienced… it’s hard to see him as twenty years old; he’s so mature.”
Youngjae flinched at Emily’s surprisingly good hunch, but soon smiled brightly and smiled at Youngjae.
“That’s why you fell in love.”
Certainly, all the men Emily had met so far were older. Perhaps that’s why when she saw younger men, they just seemed like babies and immature, so she didn’t even think of them as men, but somehow Youngjae was different. His actions and speech were definitely those of a twenty-year-old, but the experience, manners, and professionalism that came out of him from time to time were definitely not those of a twenty-year-old.
“Isn’t it good? So Emily met a good man. You can brag about it anywhere.”
At Youngjae’s words that she could brag about it, Emily smiled slightly and touched her necklace. The unique necklace with a small lemon-shaped silver pendant was a necklace that Youngjae had custom-made himself.
“I like Yoon’s thoughts in this necklace so much that I’m telling everyone about it.”
Youngjae wanted to match a gold pendant that could symbolize Emily and his relationship by spending time looking through the language of flowers himself, rather than just a geometric and pretty pendant.
“Yoon said that lemon blossoms mean enthusiasm and sincere love. Yoon’s words that he replaced it with a lemon pendant because making flowers into pendants would be too complicated, not pretty, and crude were so cute and touching… I even told my family.”

★Thank you to those who gave me advance reservations, recommendations, comments, and coupons!!
Eunseolya-nim///Thank you for your first comment~
Slave of Shika-nim/// I think he is taking care of his interests enough from Youngjae’s point of view. It is common to spend more money to launder your image.
goimosp-nim/// Most American sports have service time. Even in European soccer, rookie-level players don’t get a raise in weekly wage all at once. Of course, it’s not a slave contract to this extent, but lol
H0h-nim/// Even if the association pays for the insurance premium if you get hurt, it doesn’t mean much. It’s best not to get hurt ㅎㅎ
Lazze-nim/// ddd It wasn’t
Ultra10-nim///Yes. Still, basketball ends service time earlier than baseball, and the rate of salary increase is also high. The disadvantage is that the salary of superstar-level players is lower than that of baseball? As you said, it’s a sport where the power of stars is great, so there are many additional income.
Brilliant Legacy-nim, CountOfDark-nim, Disappearing Soul-nim, Financia-nim/// Thank you for your comments~~
Grand Line-nim/// I misunderstood that point. I’m sorry. And you should always be careful about injuries. Even if the association pays the insurance money, it doesn’t mean you won’t get injured… And you haven’t done anything yet, but if you say, “Don’t draft me for small competitions,” the public opinion will probably turn against you. I would criticize that player first. What have you done to take care of your own interests from the beginning? If you win some competitions and win medals later, you will be able to make such a request. I plan to increase my voice while going through the season afterwards. Thank you for giving your opinion in the comments^^
Cowardly Loser Inferior Man-nim/// Yep. That’s right.
Chin-nim/// There are dozens of pages of A4 paper about NBA salaries lol. We also search when writing about salaries. I memorize most of it, but it’s still complicated enough that there are things I get confused about.
Gray Shadow-nim/// Thank you for the coupon. I will repay you with good writing in the future.
Bidrihi-nim/// Thank you to everyone who gave me manuscript fee coupons. I am giving separate thanks because the nicknames of the people who sponsored the coupons are displayed ㅎㅎ. Please continue to enjoy reading it in the future~
