The Lazy Genius Striker
< Episode 0 - Prologue >
There’s a saying that having mediocre talent is more frustrating than having no talent at all.
If you have no talent, you’ll give up early. But if you possess a mediocre ability, you’ll struggle desperately among truly gifted individuals, unable to relinquish hope, and live a miserable existence day after day.
That is indeed a miserable and cruel fate.
But,
there’s something just as cruel as mediocre talent.
That is,
being born with talent but lacking passion.
In this situation, the world feels a sense of pity.
They lament that precious talent is being squandered.
Is that all there is to it?
The person involved also endures a great deal of suffering.
Because they are compelled to pursue something solely due to their innate talent, even if they have no desire to do so.
Furthermore, they face criticism for not wanting to do what they don’t enjoy, even though it’s not inherently wrong.
Many individuals make desperate efforts even without talent, so why don’t you even consider putting in the effort with the talent you possess?
For the sole reason of being born with unwanted talent, they are branded as lazy and indolent sinners.
From their perspective, it’s an utterly unjust situation.
Therefore,
this type of individual often goes astray.
The person themselves becomes twisted due to the resentment that has been fostered since childhood.
Ban Yohan, the second son of the prestigious Ban family of soccer [a family renowned for its contributions and success in the sport], was such a case.
